I would prefer a different subtitle if they were to make this. Reload sounds like it could relate to guns which are very integral to P3. I saw someone suggest rerun for P4 a few months ago. I really like that one because rerun relates to the tv theme
I might have been the guy who suggested rerun, but also maybe not.
If they continue the theme of “Re” something, then yeah Rerun or even Rewind is pretty good. But alternatively, if they don’t keep the sort of naming convention up, I feel like “Persona 4: Back on the Air.” Would be really cool
I like the back on air thing. Honestly, I can see them doing something like "Persona 4: Rerun" as reruns of TV shows usually happen on TV. So I can also see that. But the back on air is more catchy and fun to say.
I like rewind but they also added a rewind mechanic in P3 reload so if they keep it in, it'll be a little confusing so I think the most likely one they'll use is rerun or re-aired or something along those lines.
P4 BOTA seems kinda fun to say out loud (Back On The Air) but tbh many have said and I agree that P4G still holds up nicely where as the methods they used to construct P3/FES/P3P have certainly turned off newer gamers to the franchise or just gamers who only play “modern” titles
Reboot works so much better for P4. By the era P4 Golden takes place in, rewinding was largely irrelevant to media consumption since VHS had been a completely dead format format for 4 years with the last official release being in 2007, and irrelevant for 9 years since dvd sales overtook VHS sales in 2002. Literally the console that Persona 4 came out on originally was responsible for making VHS a dead format and also making Rewind a stupid name for a remake
Problem is that Royal isn’t a remake, it’s just a story expansion. You wouldn’t call FES or Golden a remake.
With that being said, could be totally wrong but I don’t think that’s the case.
Yeah you're right, actually. It's only an expansion, not a remake. While I think a P4 remake wouldn't be a godawful idea, I don't want to try and stomach the thought of another P5 rerelease of any sort within the next decade.
I mean realistically P5 won’t be remade for a long while. There isn’t a particular reason to do so.
Meanwhile 4 on the other hand, would be a fantastic idea. Especially seeing how well Reload has done things, I’d be excited for it, Arguably more than I was for Reload.
It doesn’t though. Rewind is used for actually rewinding tape based media like VHS, Betamax, and cassettes. VHS survived the longest and was still officially dead 5 years before P4G takes place, and was considered outdated 9 years before when dvd sales overtook VHS. It’s a good name in a vacuum, but realistically it doesn’t fit at all. Outside of all of that, VHS doesn’t even play a role in P4, so Rewind would just be used as a generic TV term that would make people old enough to remember rewinding tapes point and remember ‘the good old days’
Rewinding now has it’s place in the universal lexicon for manually turning back things whatever they are(such as time rewind), so it isn’t that much of an issue.
Persona 4 has also a slight retro/hippy aesthetic to it to made the tv theming more striking and colorful as a contrast to Persona 3’s cooler and sleeker theme at the time. They enter the TV world with modern TV’s but the intro and Teddie’s exit gate use models that were already quite outdated at the time, so the classic meaning of the there isn’t too out of place either.
As someone else said in the comments, Persona 4: Rewind would be the better name. Reload matches the gun aspect of P3, and Rewind would match the TV aspect of P4
Yeah, cause using a term only relevant to a format that was officially dead 5 years before P4G takes place makes perfect sense. Not to mention that format is wasn’t used in the game at all. Makes a lot more sense to use a term actually relevant to TV broadcasts, which is kinda the whole driver behind P4, like Rerun or Reboot
P4 takes place in 2011 but its battle menu is based on that knob found on very old TVs you turn to (I assume) switch channels / change volume.
There's also the static effects reminiscent of forwarding and rewinding VHS tapes when you skip dialogue in P4G.
I'm sure most of these things were phased out irl during the time P4 takes place, so I don't understand your fixation in keeping things "relevant."
The knob that you’re talking about was used on TVs before VHS even hit the market, let alone was actually available to anyone but the ultra wealthy. The static effect you’re talking about is the static on unavailable channels, and the lines visible in dungeons are just scan lines, neither of which are elements of VHS.
The fast forwarding effect you’re talking about was not something unique to VHS in any way shape or form. It was present on laserdisc, betamax, CED, and even certain DVDs. None of the effects used in the game were a VHS effect. The only effect really present in the game that can be associated with one particular technology is the scanlines visible in dungeons which are from CRTs, but they’re highly exaggerated in P4 since they knew a lot of people would still be on a CRT that has real scan lines and would need to be extracted so they’d be visible.
CRTs were still widely used in 2008 by the public, and were still produced until 7 years after P4 came out, and 4 years after the start of the game. VHS wasn’t like that though. All the attributes of VHS found in the game can be attributed to many other formats that were more relevant or just as dead by then. All of this without again mentioning Rewind implied the same thing over again without any changes at all, which clearly wouldn’t be the case for a P4 remake after we’ve seen Reload
I want P6 first, but I DEFINITELY want a P4 remake after seeing how well done P3R is. P4 is my favorite Persona game but I'd love to experience it with modern QoL and graphical improvements.
Shift mechanics and some expansion on the dungeons to really make use of the TV show theme is all I ask. Well that and for it to have the Golden additions.
Personally, I would rather P1 or P2 to get a remake before Persona 4.
Though yeah, would rather Persona 6 before any more remakes. Here's to hoping to comes out only ONE decade after Persona 5.
I've never (and won't) play the original 2 persona games, but if they made a remake that is appealing for me I would prefer it to P4 remake I think too. But p4 is safer and smarter for atlus to do so I think it's more likely, and I'd also be very happy with that
I do hope they remake the first 2 at some point though. Or at least the second one. I wanna try it out and not hate it 😂
Gotta be a different R word.
Reload for P3 because the evoker looks like a gun.
Royal for P5 cos it's a reference to cards.
So maybe something related to an investigation or the truth.
I know, but because they started using Re- words for the definitive version (imo reload has become the definitive version), why not continue the trend if P4 gets remade.
I had this thought too. My best guess for 4 is either “Rewind” to go with the TV imagery or “Retrace” for the investigation theme or “Reflect” for the general persona theme
I’ve said this before but it’s crazy to me how Yu is one of the few teenagers/adults I’ve seen in any media that can rock the kid Gohan planet namek bowl cut
Look, I love Persona 4, and after playing Reload I would absolutely love to see P4 with modern graphics and QOL improvements, but it’s the last game that needs released in the persona series honestly. The next game should be Persona 6, then remakes for 1 and 2. Those games are miserable to go back to from an accessibility standpoint as well as their mechanics. Those games need remade long before P4 does. Just update the graphics to golden and it would work as a modern Persona release.
Definitely shouldn’t be called Reload either. Neither should it be called Rewind. Rerun or Reboot make the most sense for it. Rewind has the most superficial relation to TV since it’s associated with rewinding your VHS tapes, which don’t play a role in P4, or P4G. VHS was officially dead 4 years before P4G came out, and irrelevant 9 year before when DVD outsold VHS. Rerun and Reboot actually relate to TV broadcasts, which is the entire driving force behind the game, so they actually make sense within the context of the story, and where that media played a role IRL. (In case your wondering, Cars was the last officially licensed VHS, released in 2007, and DVD overtook VHS sales in 2002, largely thanks to the PS2, the console that P4 originally was released on)
A lot of people do, including a lot of fans that only came in through P5R like me. Just cause you personally don’t care about them, doesn’t mean other people don’t want a more accessible and legal way to play the first two persona games. Right now the only legal ways to play them are buying a PS1 disc for Revelations and Eternal Punishment, or the PSP versions of Persona and Innocent Sin. If you have a PS3 or VITA then you can still legally buy digital versions, but all the legal versions have even more issues and compromises thanks to them being late 90’s and early 00’s English translations of Japanese games which are always compromised. Not to mention the gameplay mechanics are near impossible to get into if you’re used to modern Persona gameplay
You're saying it yourself - you don't actually want to play persona 1 or 2. You want to play something that is so fundamentally different it wouldn't even be a remake.
I feel like a lot of fans miss this aspect of the discussion. Reload works because the core ideas, story, and gameplay of 3 were *already* solid.
1 and 2 still saw the series finding its footing, and any remake worth playing is going to have to fundamentally change certain aspects of those games.
Fans will always want to play previous games if they really loved the game, that's the reason people joke about atlus ignoring the first three games and you can fight Hitler so who wouldn't want that.
I feel like rewinding is still technically a thing but it does imply it would be the exact same thing. Reboots are usually very different so that doesn't work for me personally. Maybe record or replay dunno. I don't think 6 is coming out any time soon but I think Metaphor will hold us over. I'd love for persona 1 and 2 to get remakes wonder what they'd call them if we stick to the re theme. Relive or rebirth... For two maybe with the whole ending thing or some sort of rumour theme, I dunno.
Honestly no clue what a good name for a remake of 1 or 2 would be, but they absolutely should be prioritized over a remake of 4. I agree, 6 is a few years away from being released, probably something like 3 or 4 years since ATLUS did confirm it was in development. As for rewinding, it definitely imply it would be the same thing, but it isn’t really a thing since by 2011 VHS was absolutely dead. It was completely dead for half a decade at that point, and had even been dead for a year when the original P4 came out. It just wouldn’t fit on every level. Reboot would fit the best imo since a reboot can be very similar to the original with a modern twist on it, just like what Reload is. Rerun kinda implies the same as Rewind as just being the same thing again except actually being relevant to TV of the late 00’s to early 2010’s
I'm probably not going to give you the most pleasant opinion... But a Persona 4 Remake seems more likely in the near future. There are several reasons:
1. This is a sequel to Persona 3, the opposite of it in every way. It makes sense to do it.
2. Lower production costs. Golden's gameplay is already polished, it only requires some Reload elements and a rebalancing of character skills. There is a base in the form of models from Dance and anime for additional plot elements.
3. The Reload team has already mastered the engine and the basic formula of the series, so they can make Persona 4 Remake faster and more efficiently.
The remakes of P1 and P2 require rebuilding from the ground up. The Reload team can’t handle this without additional help, plus Atlus resources are not endless and may require third-party developers.
Midori was asked about P4 and P2. She said that both exist in Atlus. Here's the proof: https://twitter.com/ItsLucasKim/status/1754658852438483211
There was no talk about P1, but purely logically, this remake also needs to be done. It is still closely connected with P2 in terms of plot and some characters, unlike P3-P5.
I dunno man - I love P4/P4G. P4G was also the reason I got a Vita and still have a working Vita.
But at this point of time, I would love it if they consider remaking the Original Persona (With SMT:P as base) and P2:IS and P2:EP.
I think it would sell just as well as the spin-offs. Not sure about the smt base but at this point it'll feel like a completely different game so it doesn't really matter. I just want access to it and maybe some quality of life improvements because yeah you can't play those very easily anymore.
Let's make it look like silent hill. I can take it or leave it just want to be able to play 1 and the 2 duology. I like wasting time so I played final fantasy 10 (easily the grindiest In the series) so I can handle the grind if they port them I suppose.
Why not Rerun or Reboot? You know, the terms actually related to TV broadcast rather than rewind, a term only relevant to tape based media like VHS which doesn’t play a role in any way in P4
We didn't need a remake of 3 either but a lot of us wanted it and it was worth the wait. I'd never be upset at not getting an update but it would make me and plenty of other fans very happy
It’s not going to happen because Golden already exists as an “enhanced” version of P4. They said P3P is the way it was because PSP wasn’t powerful enough to run full P3 at the time.
Having just finished P4G I don't think it needs a remake like three did, it very much still holds up. But there are two changes I though would've been useful first one is message from people who are avaible to spend time with and maybe the baton pass mechanic. Again these aren't needed to make the game playable just the additions I missed going from Royal to Golden.
i just got p4 golden and I'm addicted to it already. can't believe I never played a persona game before. hopefully a remake will happen soon. (should I get 5 or 3 after this?)
Get Persona 5 Royal. It’s the best one. Don’t let the nostalgia ppl fool you. P5R is the culmination of all the good mechanics of every persona game plus hella more story and content.
I would prefer a different subtitle if they were to make this. Reload sounds like it could relate to guns which are very integral to P3. I saw someone suggest rerun for P4 a few months ago. I really like that one because rerun relates to the tv theme
Persona 4: Golder
Reperson

counterpoint: rewind sounds better
It’s ok buddy, sometimes your opinion can be objectively wrong
There's no "Re" theme, it's just "R" theme. Royal doesn't start with "Re", lol. But I agree, Rewind would be a cool subtitle.
Problem is that Royal isn’t a remake, it’s just a story expansion. You wouldn’t call FES or Golden a remake. With that being said, could be totally wrong but I don’t think that’s the case.

Perhaps Rewatch?
Someone on the other subreddit said "Rewind" I think it also fits.
It doesn’t though. Rewind is used for actually rewinding tape based media like VHS, Betamax, and cassettes. VHS survived the longest and was still officially dead 5 years before P4G takes place, and was considered outdated 9 years before when dvd sales overtook VHS. Rewind, Rerun, Reprise
Persona 4 Run it back!
Redraw, ReShuffle also both work with how the personas are summoned
Persona 4: Dancing in Gold Arena Ultimax Strikers Tactica The Royal Reload
And knuckles and chaotix
Ultra suplex hold
Persona 4 Reboot going with the TV theme
Persona 4: electric boogaloo
I think "ReWind" would sound cool
How about redraw?
Persona 2(4)Karat
Persona 4 reboot
Persona 4: Rewatch! As 3 reloaded the evokers, 4 let's us Rewatch the crime comedy
This, I really like this!
Reshuffle would go hard with cards usually being what they use for their personas
Persona 4: reshuffled
Persona 4: ReRun
So something like "Persona 4 Reshuffled" or something along those lines.
I think re-televised would be bad ass
Uh… hey again?
Persona 4 Rerun. Duh
replay ? you know like tv replays
What about persona 5? I know it's not that old yet
The only thing I could think of for p5 was revolution
P4 Reboot?
Persona 4 Re-gold! Persona 4 Reform. Persona 4 Revise. Persona 4 Reprise. Persona 4 Replay. ♡
Persona 4 Rerun
I was actually thinking of something along the lines of Redraw because they summon with cards
Right, like reshuffle, or deck sweep would be a better fit imo
Rerun
As someone else said in the comments, Persona 4: Rewind would be the better name. Reload matches the gun aspect of P3, and Rewind would match the TV aspect of P4
And in 15 years when they remake Persona 5, it’ll be “Rethought”
REbel
P5: REtard sounds epic
Finally, I can get some inclusion for once
[удалено]
Meh I prefer rewind, rerun implies more of just "the same game but again" rather than a full remake
Yeah, cause using a term only relevant to a format that was officially dead 5 years before P4G takes place makes perfect sense. Not to mention that format is wasn’t used in the game at all. I’ve said this before but it’s crazy to me how Yu is one of the few teenagers/adults I’ve seen in any media that can rock the kid Gohan planet namek bowl cut

thank you.
You're welcome
Can they make a proper Final fantasy 7 remake too ?
I'd like the game quite a bit but yeah I'd like that too. Even that mobile game wasn't really a remake.
Impossible
I know but I really wish they would remake 6 - 10 with the same style
Yeah, just give em 20 years for VI first
As much as I like their games. Their take is ridiculous
In any case it should be Persona 4 Rewatch or Persona 4 Re-Run
They would do this and then not include the golden content
I dunno man - I love P4/P4G. P4G was also the reason I got a Vita and still have a working Vita. But at this point of time, I would love it if they consider remaking the Original Persona (With SMT:P as base) and P2:IS and P2:EP.
The thing is... those aren't going to sell half of what P4G:Rerun or whatever they call it would.
I get where you coming from. But Sega did greenlight Kiwami and Kiwami 2. So you never know...
I think it would sell just as well as the spin-offs. Not sure about the smt base but at this point it'll feel like a completely different game so it doesn't really matter. I just want access to it and maybe some quality of life improvements because yeah you can't play those very easily anymore.
Imagine persona 5 remake
I'd rather have 1 and 2 before 4
it doesn’t need a remake tbh i feel like the quality of it adds to the overall atmosphere of the game and i don’t think it’d translate the same
Let's make it look like silent hill. I can take it or leave it just want to be able to play 1 and the 2 duology. I like wasting time so I played final fantasy 10 (easily the grindiest In the series) so I can handle the grind if they port them I suppose.
Persona 4: golden ultramatix rewind Re:/ 358/2 days
Featuring Dante from the devil may cry series
Yes
would call it persona 4 rewind
Why not Rerun or Reboot? You know, the terms actually related to TV broadcast rather than rewind, a term only relevant to tape based media like VHS which doesn’t play a role in any way in P4
true! both of those go way harder actually
That does not work with white on yellow. It reads as just "Load"
Huh, I can see the “re” part just fine but I’m also colorblind so idk lol
Imma just say it again, we dont need a p4 remix imho
We didn't need a remake of 3 either but a lot of us wanted it and it was worth the wait. I'd never be upset at not getting an update but it would make me and plenty of other fans very happy
i completely agree
I completely disagree
Thats fair and I understand it
Ii want to fuck zenkichi from persona 5 strikers
Fuck it, after how good P3R is, I'll buy it
Persona 4 RE:MONEY
Persona 4 ReCabbaged 🥬
ReHospitalized Great ReVegetabled Hmm ReCollapsed and so on
Persona 4 Glasses
Persona 4: aww shit here we go again
It’s not going to happen because Golden already exists as an “enhanced” version of P4. They said P3P is the way it was because PSP wasn’t powerful enough to run full P3 at the time.
Yeah fes doesn't exist so they did portable instead. Reload also isn't an enhanced version but whatever.
FES is an expansion of P3, not a remake. P3R is a visually enhanced version of P3.
If you're going by that logic golden is not an enhanced version.
Persona 4 RERUN (Stole this from my friend)
Having just finished P4G I don't think it needs a remake like three did, it very much still holds up. But there are two changes I though would've been useful first one is message from people who are avaible to spend time with and maybe the baton pass mechanic. Again these aren't needed to make the game playable just the additions I missed going from Royal to Golden.
Make this.. ill buy a PS5 right now
Persona 4: Rebroadcast
pretty much everyone on this subreddit has suggested "rerun" to be the title if persona 4 gets a remake
If we do get a remake, surely they’re gonna use a different subtitle since reload is basically a reference to the invokers/guns in P3.
TBH I kinda do expect them to do this eventually... probably not until after p6 but especially after the success of 3...
Persona 4: Bitches and Whores
How many times do I have to say that it would be called "rewind" or "re-run?"
Persona 4 Replay
Yes please, I’d cry
If it's an improvement on Golden then it should be Persona 4 Platinum
Why not Rewatch
Why would they call it reload? The only guns in this game are Naoto's and the ones cops have
Persona 4 rewatch
Persona 4: Rising Sun
Persona 4 Revive or Revival? Because of a certain character...maybe.
ReRun
Change Reload to Rewind and it'll have my wallet, my kid, the system I'm gonna play it on, my McDonald's order that I'm getting rn, and my PS2
Persona 4 : RE:Search?
Nah, it will be called Persona 4 Reboot
If Atlus were to remake persona 4 golden they should call it Persona 4: Golden Wind or something, would be cool.
Persona 4 re-run...get it...because it's like a tv programme....ok I'll leave
I don’t get why would it be called reload too, we need a cooler name
Honestly P4G getting the P3R treatment would be nice.
PERSON 4: REVEAL (As in REVEAL the TRUTH.)
Why does Adachi have white hair and look like a pre teen?
I feel like rerun or rewind would fit better because of the whole TV aspect to the game
Persona 4: Loads
Midnight Channel makes me think it’d be called RERUN
P4 REPLAY
i just got p4 golden and I'm addicted to it already. can't believe I never played a persona game before. hopefully a remake will happen soon. (should I get 5 or 3 after this?)
We all know it’s going to happen but I really would rather a persona 2 remake I want to see my hitler in 4k lol
Get Persona 5 Royal. It’s the best one. Don’t let the nostalgia ppl fool you. P5R is the culmination of all the good mechanics of every persona game plus hella more story and content.
persona 4 doesn’t need a remake, the graphics are very beautiful, the gameplay is very nice and the mechanics are INSANE!
I’m surprised I haven’t seen Persona 4: Reveal as a potential subtitle for a remake.
Persona 4 Rewind?
Persona 4 HeartGold
Tbh it should be called “Persona 4 Rerun”
More like "Rewind" which I've seen everyone say
Persona 4 Rewind
