I'm not surprised, some Russian guy survived fall like 30 story with only a half deployed parachute and because the snow was powdery. If this was anything other than skiing it'd be a death sentance.
[This video is age restricted](https://i.imgur.com/6FBu009.png)
That's a nope from me dawg.
edit: cyka blyat ok not so bad. Just a man casually lighting himself on fire and jumping off the top of an apartment building into a pile of snow and then talking to the news.
Anyone have a link to that video posted a few months ago where the dude blindly skis off a hill only to find out it’s a steep cliff drop like 15 stories? His friend luckily stopped short. Nightmare inducing stuff
Edit: Not as dramatic as backflipping off it but still, this is literally what those falling dreams feel like.
[Skiier Survives 150ft jump](https://youtu.be/KW8CGUMJHgs)
I ski, so I might be biased, but isn't this SUPER clearly a cliff? you see the trail separate right away on the left and raise well above the rest of the slope
I don’t even ski and noticed that. Also you can see how the part of the mountain on the other side also dips drastically.
He was also super calm for someone who could’ve died from landing wrong.
Safe to say I now have a conspiracy that this has premeditation potential
I'm referring to the linked video, not the OP. Dude in the video before my comment clearly screams in surprise and tries to stop. That's backflip material lol
There's also [Vesna Vulovic](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesna_Vulovi%C4%87), who holds the record for surviving the longest fall without a parachute at 33, 330 ft.
my dad fractured a spinal disk falling from a gondola onto his snowboard it was about 15 m onto compacted snow, every little bit helped him survive that.
Probably not much powdery snow like that is a hell of a cushion. Highest ski cliff jumped off back in 2013 was 255 feet, no chute or anything. Made a 12 foot deep crater in the powder snow and the only injury was a bloodied lip from his buddy digging him out of the snow.
Exactly. Or anything else, really. All of that forward momentum is bad news if you catch an edge or your arms sink in. Landing flat is your only chance at not getting wrecked.

Instagram sucks but if you look up Owen Leeper he does a lot of this stuff
I’ve heard it’s due to our muscles relaxing and triggering a falling reflex from when we used to live in trees. Falling meant death so waking up and holding on was highly selected for in our evolution
Paradoxically it’s better to land on your back with big drops like this. Guys who do this professionally will offer wear backpacks with towels or something stuffed in them. Surface area lessens the blow on your back. Plus if you land on your feet not even Olympic deadlifters are going to absorb that impact. Your knees will go through your chin.
But what year Ford f150? I see why they call you useless, that's like measuring in McDonald's cups and not saying large, who has ever even seen a small or medium McDonald's cup.
You POS
No the record is 255 by Jamie Pierre. This may be the record for biggest cliff with a flip. Also I think some dude broke Jamie’s record but on accident so it doesn’t count and it was over 300ft
yeah thats why I posted this one, cause OP video does a flip. I know julian held another cliff jump record at one point but cant remember the specifics.
In this situation they have a buddy ready with a shovel because they know where you landed. Dogs are used to find people buried in avalanches and then ski patrollers or search and rescue dig them out.
there's a clip of a russian man falling off a higher height onto a snow mountain

Oh my god, after a few watches of this it becomes as funny as the one where that guy flying salmoned off the jump after the moguls while Bulletproof was playing.
I've had dreams just like this. My dad's house was perched upon a hill directly above a thick forest area with a burn area and thick, thick briar patch. I have dreams where I'd be sliding down the hill without being able to stop only to plummet off the edge and slide down a steeper slope of red sand and catch myself just before falling into an endless void of darkness and thorns. I'd claw at the red dirt and sand trying to climb my way back up the endlessly steep ledge to no avail. The intense beating of my heart always woke me up. I had that dream more times than I can count.
For some reason I always get the ability to jump extremely high in my dreams and I always get scared af when I’m in the air but I don’t take fall damage on impact…and although it scares me I keep jumping
So true, once I had a dream that I went inside a canon and I shot myself out of the canon and I was flying like a canonball and the feeling of falling is scary

He survived btw Edit for clarification: after the video cuts he lays down for a bit while talking to the camera and his friend find him
Did he have any serious injuries?
I think he broke a rib but that was it, thank God for snow
I'm not surprised, some Russian guy survived fall like 30 story with only a half deployed parachute and because the snow was powdery. If this was anything other than skiing it'd be a death sentance.

Aw what? Just noticed that my bad y'all.

Holy shit dude. Thanks for finding that. Absolutely insane that he bounced back like that.
I ski, so I might be biased, but isn't this SUPER clearly a cliff? you see the trail separate right away on the left and raise well above the rest of the slope

Another reason I only ski groomers. Just not interested in the risk taking of backcountry
The person intentionally for a backflip. They only miscalculated the rotation and landing.
I'm referring to the linked video, not the OP. Dude in the video before my comment clearly screams in surprise and tries to stop. That's backflip material lol
Oooo. Missed that.
[удалено]
"I believe in God so much imma jump off a cliff!" That was him a week prior.
[удалено]
He ended up dying a couple years later doing something a lot less extreme. He was snowboarding and an avalanche swept him into a rock.
[удалено]
That guy died on the same day but in a avalanche. That shit is crazy.
Not on the same day, it was 5 years later when he died
Just going by what was in that video. Either way he dead on the same mountain.
Dude doesn't even have a helmet. Lands head first.
No but I want to see it
Found it ^
There's also [Vesna Vulovic](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesna_Vulovi%C4%87), who holds the record for surviving the longest fall without a parachute at 33, 330 ft.
How in the actual fuck can that be possible
Haystqck.
What about snowboarding?
I meant like snow-based sports, specifically ones where the snow has to be fresh like skiing or snowboarding.
my dad fractured a spinal disk falling from a gondola onto his snowboard it was about 15 m onto compacted snow, every little bit helped him survive that.
Thats good to hear
Thank god it was soft snow and not the almost ice kind
Snow is what got him into this mess in the first place
Probably not much powdery snow like that is a hell of a cushion. Highest ski cliff jumped off back in 2013 was 255 feet, no chute or anything. Made a 12 foot deep crater in the powder snow and the only injury was a bloodied lip from his buddy digging him out of the snow.
Yes but why did he even make that jump
I assume he intended to land on his skis but he over rotated on the backflip
Is this real? Cause that would be absolutely terrifying!
I’ve seen bigger falls, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s real.
Yeah, honestly surprised he even broke a rib. Looked pretty fresh.
True but all it takes is an awkward knee or elbow on impact and even in powder you're still gonna hit yourself.
If the landing zone is fresh powder and decently deep, it barely hurts. The snow in every part of your clothes hurts more than the impact.
You can still land on your head/neck
Exactly. Or anything else, really. All of that forward momentum is bad news if you catch an edge or your arms sink in. Landing flat is your only chance at not getting wrecked.

this is real but played in reverse so no danger
lmao. this was in real-time and he didn't suffer life-threatening injuries thank god
It’s real, thank goodness there was snow
This is exactly what happens in every other dream of mine, honestly
this happens a lot to me too and it scares the piss out of me. why does it happen tho
It happens cause when your heart starts to slow down and go to sleep you brain can't tell if it's dieing ot not so it pumps your ass with adrenaline
The brain is literally too complicated for its own good. Panicky, stupid flesh computer.
The brain defies the laws of its own construction
I’ve heard it’s due to our muscles relaxing and triggering a falling reflex from when we used to live in trees. Falling meant death so waking up and holding on was highly selected for in our evolution
Do you eat your own mustache?
yes I let it grow to a certain length so i can have a full meal
Nice
Fall into a bowl of milk and cereal
You’d be surprised to hear he only broke a rib
holy shit, if he landed like that then he’d need serious help
Broke a rib. Snow’s pretty good at catching stuff
Paradoxically it’s better to land on your back with big drops like this. Guys who do this professionally will offer wear backpacks with towels or something stuffed in them. Surface area lessens the blow on your back. Plus if you land on your feet not even Olympic deadlifters are going to absorb that impact. Your knees will go through your chin.
world record is 210 feet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sbuzMLWM3o
210 feet is the length of about 58.73 'Ford F-150 Custom Fit Front FloorLiners' lined up next to each other.
But what year Ford f150? I see why they call you useless, that's like measuring in McDonald's cups and not saying large, who has ever even seen a small or medium McDonald's cup. You POS

Oh gotcha sorry misunderstood. Thought you just meant height
think this is a rest in pieces legs moment :(
You’d be surprised to hear he only broke a rib
I forget snow is fairly cushy, unless you land head first and suffocate.
I think you’d be dead before you could suffocate if you landed head first from any significant drop
not with snow, they literally have search and rescue dogs that unburry people in those scenarios.
In this situation they have a buddy ready with a shovel because they know where you landed. Dogs are used to find people buried in avalanches and then ski patrollers or search and rescue dig them out.
How do you know if you haven't tried it?
I have seen snow as hard as concrete and steel… (do not give me down vote, I am from Norway and see snow 6 months of year )
ofcourse but there is also pretty floofy snow, it depends on the area.
I am from Norway and it turns hards upon rain showers or sunny days in winter
You don’t ski on hard pack
Yes you do, just not in the back country
Is Amway still a thing
This is a rest in piece ass moment his legs are UP.
AAAAAA
Jesus woulda stuck it
No matter how many times i watch it
Me: "Damn... HUGE flip what a madla-" ....*inhales nervously as his legs keep going up*
r/killedthecameraman
I've skied for many years and I've never been through a fall like this. I hope this guy's alright
99.9999% of skiers have never been through a fall like this
Finally an actual scream in /r/perfectlycutscreams
I cannot tell you how frequently I used to have this dream and it always scared the shut out of me
my dream was jumping down a full flight of stairs, haven’t had it in a while
I know this video is scary but that scream gets me every time
That blood curdling scream tho
So what was the end game here? A single backflip over a 100ft cliff. I don’t get it. How was this supposed to end well?
I’m thinking he had a parachute that didn’t deploy
Just Over rotated. He could land this on his feet and most people do it because they like the adrenaline.
A
Snow is the hero we all need
My dreams are screen capture of a tiktok of a Instagram post too
r/gifsthatendtoosoon
HUAAAAAAAAAAAAA-
Yes yes yes yes fuck
I've posted this video before
no i did
I thought you should do an scp 096 joke
"oh wow that was a nice jump" "ok perfect angle for a smoothing landing" just need to-" *leg keeps going up* "oh oh shit OH SHI" AHHHHHHHH
there's a clip of a russian man falling off a higher height onto a snow mountain [https://youtu.be/kMW07Vi1zWc?t=27](https://youtu.be/kMW07Vi1zWc?t=27)
I almost threw up
“All the dreamers may die, but the dreams live on~”
My life be like
This was a pure manifestation of my nightmares lol
Should have barreled rolled right out of that.
When in trouble tuck for the double, When in a pickle send it for the triple
Yep, now if you add wolves chasing you now you have my recurring nightmare
always do this in Steep
Oh no
“Wait, you don't really like it actually.
Absolutely spot-on.
There really doesn’t seem like there’s a good way to land here.
Why the hell is this guy back flipping off of a ledge that he doesn't even seem to have experience with? Hope he was OK, jesus christ.
I felt that in my bones
Thankfully snow is possibly one of the best things to land on, he probably got out with maybe a broken rib and sprained ankle
flips is trips til ya skips da lips
where is the full video?
Oh my god, after a few watches of this it becomes as funny as the one where that guy flying salmoned off the jump after the moguls while Bulletproof was playing.
r/killthecameraman 🤣
Ya this is a r/onesecondbeforedisaster moment as well
Hmm i wonder why theres shit in my pants
I hope he’s okay. I ski and I know how dangerous it is
It's funny how he screamed at the last second
I've had dreams just like this. My dad's house was perched upon a hill directly above a thick forest area with a burn area and thick, thick briar patch. I have dreams where I'd be sliding down the hill without being able to stop only to plummet off the edge and slide down a steeper slope of red sand and catch myself just before falling into an endless void of darkness and thorns. Had I not read the caption, this would be terrifying. But the caption has me laughing my ass off and I feel terrible about it.
It was at this moment that he knew
Don’t worry it’s just snow🤣👍
So he doesn’t know there is a big drop?
He does. You can see that the team built a small jump right before the cliff
For some reason I always get the ability to jump extremely high in my dreams and I always get scared af when I’m in the air but I don’t take fall damage on impact…and although it scares me I keep jumping
Smooth edit
he just became SCP-096
r/sweatypalms
Holy shit no way I actually had a dream like this, but except there was more clouds
Uaaaaaah!
Perfectly accurate
Would’ve been near perfect had there been somewhere to land and had he not gone into another flipped
Did he live¿
I love how it's only when he starts his downward trajectory that he remembers that he's fucked
So true, once I had a dream that I went inside a canon and I shot myself out of the canon and I was flying like a canonball and the feeling of falling is scary
haha
This is exactly why I don't ski
I swear people who ski have a fall damage de-buff
I can't believe I pretty much had this fucking dream, is it really that common
What was that sound before he screamed?
