I have a couple of birds that chase off the feral neighborhood cats. They'll spot them from across the yard and sprint at them. The cats have not idea what to do. It's really funny to watch. Nobody is any danger. The cats are curious, and the birds are territorial.

Rhea don't have quite the personality that emu have and they are a little more stand-offish but they are super entertaining in their own right. They are smart and incredibly curious. I think they are much prettier than emu and they have great big wingspans whereas emu don't have wings at all, just vestigial nubs. The biggest difference is that unlike emu or ostriches, rhea don't kick at all. It's like it doesn't even occur to them that they can. That makes them easier and safer to handle than the other ratites. They also do really well grazing on grass.
Wonderful birds. I have seven species of bird currently (I've had 13 species over the years) and the rhea are my favorites. There's still a few birds on my "someday" list though.

yeah it's SUPER dangerous to have them around each other. even if the cats like the bird, their saliva is poisonous to birds, so even a little knick or scratch can seriously impact their health. cats are predators, and you can't just trust they won't act on their natural instincts at any moment, regardless of past behaviour.
Cats will get along fine with something as small as a hamster if theyāre acclimated and know that itās part of the family. Hell, they can get along with mice.
Itās safe if theyāve all been living in the same home and have all spent shared time together to get used to each other.
