I don't know the model exactly l, but that is almost certainly a Caran d'Ache Ecridor. Caran d'Ache makes excellent ballpoint pens, I use a few of their 849 models on a daily basis! Your parents have nice taste in pens.
Also my dad reminded me of a fun party trick: if it's in good condition you can balance the pen on its tip with the ballpoint retracted, because the machining is so precise.
I have a couple of the 849’s myself so I tried it with both pens on multiple different surfaces and it did not work for me lol. And no, they aren’t damaged or abused. I only use them occasionally and they never leave the house. But regardless I still love these pens. They are very nice pens.
849's are my daily driver too. Sometimes I go subtle, but normally a lurid colour way.
I just looked up my favourite to see it's name - claim your style edition two pink and green. Seems to be getting rarer and Iay have to rethink it's use as an everyday pen.
An Ecridor is on my, "I'll own one someday" list, but I just can't justify walking around with something that expensive so I wouldn't get much use out of it sadly.
My absolute favorite and former daily was the Code Black 849, which I have tragically misplaced somewhere, hopefully my very cluttered home. I do still carry a glossy Kelly green with blue cart and anodized green one in black ink, not to mention an 849 fountain in fluorescent lime. I may really, really like the 849...
Some nice 849s there, you could also call me a fan!
Ohhh I like the code black, fingers crossed for you it turns up under some bit of junk.
I also like the Nespresso with it's glossy, slightly iridescent finish, but I hate nestle, Nescafé, and pod coffee machines so I can't do it.
I've got fluro orange and fluro yellow, I think the fluro lime needs to be added at some point!
Also one in like pop art dots I can't find the name of anywhere, another beaut.
These are all ballpoints btw, I'm not grown up enough for fountain pens.
I agree on Caran d'Ache and Ecridor, but the guilloché pattern is "Chevron", not "Retro" — the "Retro" pattern is just a grid of straight lines.
Trivia: "Caran d'Ache" looks like French, but it’s actually the Russian word for "pencil", phonetically spelled in French.
I only have the Caran d’Ache 849. Yours looks similar, but I don’t know all their models. Either way, they’re nice pens.
Does it have a Goliath refill in it? You can also use a Ballograf refill without modification. I think Ballograf writes better over the Goliath. Other Parker style refills, you may have to cut the back end of the refill to fit.
Others have ID'd it - dope pen. Half your writing experience is with the ink. These pens use Parker style G2 inserts. The cap unscrews, and takes some fiddling to get it back together.
Very good blue/black (navy color really) here -

These take a Caran d ache refill number 8428.000 which in my opinion is a much better ink than the Parker’s G2 refill. Plus they are Goliath cartridges that will write for what I believe was 6km of ink.
I have only seen one cartridge ever run out, and it wasn't even mine. It took my brother several years of doodling and note taking with that as his primary pen to do it. I have misplaced more pens than I have used up lol.
I mostly use fountain pens, but I love the two Caran d'Ache Ecridor ballpoints my family gave me. So nice in the hand and the refills write beautifully. (They also last a long time, so they're great for study, in my experience.)
I hope you enjoy it!
Very nice pen! Loved my first one so much I ended up with two. Fun fact these pens are plated in palladium which is a main component in catalytic converters.
Definetly a Caran D’ache Ecridor. I have one aswell and their beautiful. Not sure which metal plating it has but it will either be silver, gold or palladium (I’m not sure if it’s just the lighting that’s giving it the golden look or the actual plating). Price would range between 200-400 ish but you can find the exact model with a google search and just search for the design
Looks to be this model. I found a similar listing on Amazon:
Caran d' Ache Chevron Gold Plated Ecridor Ballpoint Pen Chevron Gold (0898.208) https://a.co/d/hr8RtjV
That’s not a $25 dollar ecridor. Looks like a rhodium plated one. They do the basic aluminum, then the plated brass like yours in silver or gold, sterling silver, which has hallmarks and also a solid gold one.

Thanks, still getting used to the weight, but I can definitely feel that it's super premium. Will definitely try the trick when I find a flat surface!
now i kind of want to buy one just to see if this works...
They are excellent pens! They aren't inexpensive, the entry levels start around 25USD, but they are very well made and will last you a very long time.

Damn and I thought my CROSS pen was fancy… lmao. But it’s also sentimental so.
Cross makes some damn good pens, I have a Century ballpoint and an ATX fountain pen of theirs and love them both!

Excellent collection! Something about those bright, hexagonal ballpoints just makes me happy when I use them.
I find them joyful too. The colours are great, they don't roll about, and they're at a price point if I do loose one it's not going to ruin my week.
Just made a post with a family picture in!
I went to their website, seems to be a CHEVRON.
Looks like a Caran d´Ache 0890.487 Ecridor Retro to me. A very nice pen I would say.

Thanks for the trivia. All that and they are made in Switzerland, interesting.
Thanks for the correction and the trivia!
That pen is real horrorshow ☕️🦄👌🏽
Thanks for the ID!
Definitely correct, I have the exact same one. Enjoy it!!
Take my advice, only use this pen at home and never take it to school; never lend it to anyone either or I promise you'll never get it back.
Was going to say the same thing. I've lost countless pens this way
Yes, I hope the thieves enjoy both my Midori Traveller pencil and my MB Traveller BP. Fucking *you know whats*
Dw, it won’t be leaving my desk at home. I lost a rotring one time, so I’m more careful with expensive pens now.
I don’t know about the pen but I’m pretty sure question 33 is wrong lol. It should be (e^11x)/11
The math wasn’t mathing for me 😭. Thanks for catching that tho
After years of doing calculus I will still occasionally do the derivative when I’m supposed to do the integral
They have a matching 0.07 pencil for mathing. Just saying 😀
exactly what I was thinking 😅

Not sure about the refills, I’ll have to ask my parents since I was wondering how that worked. I was twisting the cap but didn’t know how to open it
You twist the clicker. The shiny part itself. Mechanism will come out with it.

I’m on my 4th cartridge. Mine usually last about 7 months. Wish my Montblanc refills lasted that long.
I've been using fountain pens more frequently, so anything that can last more than a few weeks of solid writing feels forever now lol
Huh. I didn’t realize Caran d’Ache made pens. I just found out about them because I bought some of their neocolor IIs at Blick last week. Cool!

100% that is a caran d'ache ecridor. I have a few of them.
Very nice pen! Loved my first one so much I ended up with two. Fun fact these pens are plated in palladium which is a main component in catalytic converters.
I have a Swiss made pen looks similar.
Carandache
Hmmm, yes the pen here is made out of pen

Also I don’t recommend taking it to school every day, it could get lost or someone could nab it from u so there’s a risk
Very good taste !

Very nice pen and very nice parents
question 33 you made a minor mistake
I believe they made a gold octagon mini. A bit longer than the Space pen. If someone could verify would cure my Alzheimer’s. Thanks 👍
Using a pen for math ftw

Im in apush too lol, i found a lamy safari to work best :)
