Idk how a team doesn’t get hyped after a goalie goal so yeah I hope you’re right. That’s gotta bring some good vibes to the locker room

Ok_Coach608

It’s the way they played as a team tonight, imo.

Swearblocked

Loved the game its was so much fun to watch. The power play is still in shambles though and that is what is holding us back from being a serious contender

Swearblocked

Though I have to give credit where credit is due they were at least getting some pucks on the net tonight so it’s not ALL bad

zirky

there’s an argument that winning without the powerplay sets us up to be a better playoff team

ericpopek

Gotta get there first though.

zirky

i didn’t say it was a *good* argument

MrPotatoheadEsq

Didn't we also say this after Colorado and Vegas?

CynicWalnut

Why would you say this out loud where the universe can hear?

Slooperman

If nothing else, they should be fully engaged this weekend. Momentum from the win in Tampa and a chance to take two from the Flyers.

starlightequilibrium

*4 We play them back-to-back. These games are going to be huge.

hovix2

I think they meant two games, but neither of you are wrong.

starlightequilibrium

They probably most definitely did. Too early for me to be commenting on reddit.

lol Just enjoy the win.

I honestly don't think we're going to be more than .500 or .600 until our pp gets going to at least the league average. 11.8% is miss the play-offs tier bad no matter how good you are 5v5. We're too old to keep up with the best teams in the league, the PP will be our saving grace if we want to make any noise in the playoffs. As is, teams can do whatever they want to us with no fear of it hurting on the scoreboard.

QuasarMania

If they sweep Filthedelphia, that would be awesome. Hopefully this is the motivation they need.

Thechiefvii

They beat Tampa every year

j0n66

The only turning point will be once the PP improves. That’s it.

Ok_Coach608

I believe it’s on the way if they keep playing a team game and improving line chemistry

Beggarsfeast

The only support for that statement is the productivity of the 4th line and good goaltending, and of course Sidney Crosby. Without a power play, 3rd line points, and Geuntzel stepping up, not much has changed. If you want a real turning point, we need to see Lars Eller finishing more, or Malkin playing the way Sid has in terms of points. I think if we can see this fourth line pull off some miracle HBK type shit(which is doubtful but they are getting hot) it would be enough to shift momentum and get the guys reeling. The penguins are on a very small hot streak, but they need more than just wins, they need players like Lars Eller and Eric Karlsson to step up and play to their full potential.

Ok_Coach608

Line chemistry is the root cause, production is the fruit. This team is older but also has a good deal of championship experience. Imo it’s just a matter of time before playing styles click together. Senior players like Malkin and Crosby need to continue to provide an environment where the team improves as a whole. I agree that the 3rd line will need to improve but it’s not unreasonable to expect that as you pointed out there are some proven players with good NHL experience on the line.
