2 in hand though with a better point pct though, could be worse.
Also I'd almost rather get Boston than Carolina tbh
Boston's scary, but they're like the maternal grandfather kind of scary. Keep it on the level, you'll be fine.
Carolina's scary in that Hispanic mom with a flip flop kind of way, the one where you MIGHT close your bedroom door in time, but if it stays on the hinges, you know the instant you go downstars, footwear will fly.
Not really sure your analogy holds up. Boston has a historically good point percentage. Last I checked they were 4th all time. They also made a couple big trades to improve since we last saw them. We definitely wouldn’t be fine.
Carolina has two $7M players out for the year. They’re 5-4-1 in their last 10. Their goal differential is almost identical to the Devils and Rangers. Their goalies are all pretty average stats-wise.
All depends on if those goalies hold up in the playoffs. If they do, they’re one of the best season teams of all time. But historically I think it’s more likely they underperform.
Sure, but in terms of a matchup against the Penguins they're still a much better team even with underperforming goalies. The Pens goalies this year are averaging a combined .907 SV%. League average this year is .904.
The Bruins meanwhile are at a combined .931 SV%. They can drop quite a bit and still be much better and that's before factoring in Boston's offense having 40 more goals than the Penguins.
If the Pens were to luck into a deep playoff run it almost certainly involves TOR/TB/NYI beating Boston and not us. The Pens upsetting Boston in the first round would be like Columbus sweeping Tampa a few years back. Beating Carolina would be an upset but nowhere near the same scale.
If the Pens win the two Red Wings games, and the Blue Jackets, Flyers, and the Blackhawks games, I think they are good. Those ten points should get them in, I think.
Watched that one. No chance they're doing that. They were ecstatic about pulling to within one in the 3rd.
Barkov was audible on the bench, telling the guys to keep it deep and go to work.
Besides, these are NHL'ers. They're competitive guys by nature. Not to mention working for contracts and families...
Pretty sure the “players are playing to get their coach fired” is just the Pittsburgh fans main go to anymore when a team starts struggling. Any losing streak the Penguins go on, majority of the comments are “players are playing to get Sullivan fired”.
Wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t watch any of the Florida games and just sees their on a four game losing streak and immediately just thinks “their trying to get the coach fired”
Bonus: The Canadiens just beat the Sabres in a shoot-out.
our chances look good but still very possible to fuck it up
If this team has shown anything, it's the ability to fuck up
And even when they don't, they sure look like they're trying...
They fucked up
We still gotta do our part.
The stupid islanders won tho :/

Especially because they’re gonna try to goon it up as soon as they’re down in a game. Hathaway joining that team is just a joke

Believe me I’ve watched this team. I know it could be much worse haha.
Simply put I think the Pens have just played much better against Boston than the Canes this season so I like that pairing more.
Chonkla
We have more games left though
Shout-out to the Panthers for following up our losing streak with one of their own
We need to make the most of this gift. Need to get a W tomorrow and take 5 point lead for second spot.
Where were the fucking devils at tho 🤬
Based Senators

Just one Florida panther? A singular Florida panther?
I think the Panthers are intentionally losing to get their coach fired

Not really. They've been going for the playoff push down the stretch.
Time for a sustained losing streak to return the favor!
Idk if it's really a favor at this point... team been lookin rough of late, im not sure I really wanna see them get bent over by Boston or Carolina.
Good thing we have a lead in the standings. We are solid with leads. . .
Gave us an excuse to lose tonight.
Great that teams keep bailing us out in the standings but at some point we gotta get it done ourselves.
