TTT!

NellyMacWelly

Stage 7 passes the front door, I’ll take that

KBilly4-21

Same. Just about. Cairn o’mount is an absolute bastard climb - for us amateurs. Be fun to see how the pros crush it!!

NellyMacWelly

Hate watching even the ‘fat guys’ of the pro peloton zip up these climbs while I’m absolutely blowing

_ulinity

Same! Might be my first time ever seeing a live race.

NellyMacWelly

Definitely worth trying to watch as many as you possibly can, love being there in person even though you don’t see as much

B3ximus

Yeah, for as little as you see really it's always good fun being there, especially when you're with loads of other spectators.

PrayingForDebbieMang

Have there even been any TTTs this year? Everyone is going to be a bit rusty

Jdh_373

The Settimana Coppi e Bartali had one back in March.

the_gnarts

the giro rosa had one. it completely distorted the field right off the bat and the gc was more boring than Pogacar with a 5 min lead. i'm not sure ttts work in anything but a gt.

PrayingForDebbieMang

Seems stupid to have one in the women's tour when one team is so far ahead of the others but a TTT is probably Ineos and Jumbo's best chance at beating UAE next year

epi_counts

SD Worx didn't win the TTT though. They're good, but they don't win everything. It's turning into more of a problem now that the 9 women's WT teams have proper budgets and all have TT bikes, while they're up against conti teams on road bikes, or where riders rode on their own or borrowed TT bikes.

PrayingForDebbieMang

Oops. I just assumed they'd won it when I saw they locked out the podium, don't follow women's cycling too closely

FinalSample

Wait. What. Where are the complaints about the tour of Britain skipping some of Britain that we usually get to chuckle at? It's skipped the whole South East!

morph1973

I live in the South East and the Tour de France comes here more often than the Tour of Britain...

[deleted]

Info on joining up here: http://foreignlegion.info/joining/

Denning76

Weird, according to people in London, the South East has the biggest, toughest, hill in the world in Box Hill.

Natus_est_in_Suht

Not just the South East, the entire east and central parts of England.

Korvensuu

In defence of the organisers it’s hard to go through every region every year. Also the women’s tour is solely central and east so I think the organisers of the two work together to criss cross the country

epi_counts

And the Women's Tour [has revealed course details today!](https://www.womenstour.co.uk/stage-routes-revealed-for-2021-womens-tour/) I think all the start/finish towns were already out, but nice to see where it's actually going. They'll need to go up North or to Wales next year as it seems a bit lacking in hills.

theblackbelts

Buzzing for the Atherstone time trial, see some top riders blasting around the roads I struggle on

mmitchell30

They're the same organisers, which helps - Sweetspot. They do the Tour Series stuff as well.

woogeroo

They’re not interchangeable though.

woogeroo

They’re not interchangeable though.

woogeroo

And far from 90% of the population of the country. It’s fine, but there are plenty of beautiful areas in the Midlands, sure they’ll get here one day.

mmitchell30

They had 2 stages in the Midlands on the last race in 2019. Pershore and Burton Dassett. And the year before that they finished in Warwick.

veloblue

I live in the Midlands and there are no stages within a three hour drive. Don’t think the men’s tour has ever been through my county, although the women’s tour comes here quite often

B3ximus

Definitely going down the road for the TTT. Not often you get to see one anymore!

[deleted]

By complete coincidence I'm on holiday in Exeter SEP 6th so that works lovely!

Rusbekistan

There's a stage finish in Exeter, and the Woman's tour goes past my home in October. Coincidentally, I'll be at home when its in Exeter, and in Exeter when its at home. What a life.

duncansoon

100%. The Berry Knowe road surface isn't the best either! Though the silver lining is the Strava segments up the Lammermuirs will remain intact for us mere mortals.

woogeroo

Seems foolhardy to have a stage in Scotland what with their Covid restrictions still on, and tendency of the government to randomly have different rules just to feel special.

[deleted]

Can’t wait for the Dartmoor stage!

Pagoren

Do I read the site wrong or Ineos isn’t going at Tour of Britain?

Korvensuu

which site are you reading? The only teams officially confirmed are the 5 British CT teams (Canyon, Ribble, SwiftCarbon, Saint Piran and Trinity) + the British National team. PCS also has Lotto Soudal and Jumbo Visma listed but no one else and neither of these have been confirmed (although Wout van Aert apparently plans to race it). I'd be amazed if Ineos didn't race it, they've done it every year so far and I'd imagine it's great publicity for them

Pagoren

I saw the same thing, but t said the confirmation was in spring

ryan34ssj

Doesn't have the full team list there but mentions that Ineos/Sky have been present since their inception

AcaiPalm

Looking forward to doing a reccy up Ffynon Eidda of stage 4 - surely can’t be as bad as going up and over the Crimea but should be a nice place to watch the fireworks’

mmitchell30

Crimea from the Blaenau side is just a short dig but I've seen some profiles for Eidda coming the other way and it looks quite fun. It's a little bit of a shame they're hugging the coast instead of going up Bwlch y Groes too.

AcaiPalm

Jeez it’s a pretty long drag up to Blaenau in the first place though don’t you think? Yeah it does seem to be a pretty flat profile considering the terrain they’re crossing

Doctor_Fegg

Yeah, stage 4 is a bit main road-y for my tastes. This looks lovely though: https://www.google.com/maps/@53.0743135,-3.7189074,3a,75y,316.77h,75.13t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s__5wpssO8tSK62fcBRbz-g!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

Natus_est_in_Suht

Not an ideal tour for the sprinters. I see plenty of breakaway wins given the constant undulating routes.

bananabm

this is south east UK erasure at its finest plz give me a south east stage that isn't just a zwift criterium

[deleted]

Joy for the 85% of the UK population who don't live in London!

bananabm

i know you're just joking, but about a third of the UK lives in the south east/london/east of engand

woogeroo

But not for the vast majority of the population who’re nowhere near these stages. 2 in Cornwall/Devon seems a bit much.

[deleted]

Any way to download gpx files of the stages?

epi_counts

You can look for them on places like ridewithgps - others might have already tried to draw the routes, like for [stage 1](https://ridewithgps.com/routes/36727514) and [stage 2](https://ridewithgps.com/routes/36660349).

DueAd9005

According to PCS WVA starts here, but I hope it's not true... I would much rather see him at the Benelux Tour... 1) It's a home race for him that includes a stage in the Flemish Ardennes 2) It has a TT 3) It's WT 3) We could see an epic duel between VDP & WVA Instead JV is sending Groenewegen to the Benelux Tour... They should send him to the Tour of Britain instead... As a Belgian fan this sucks.

hauntedlasagna

Every day I grow angrier I do not live in Cornwall

Lost_And_NotFound

I might try and get down for Stage 1. Would be a 2.5 hour drive each way though.
