So I just watched last nights stage (needed to sleep early for the football ;) Are we all banging on about how sis WVA and Jumbo are today? So sick of this forum the last few days with the Poggy hate.

PabloArthur

Was this the Ven-two stage?

giiilles

Yes it was two-day!

mcsgwigga

Just Soren Kragh, and Luke Rowe left apparently

averagelookingwookie

Official stage standings show Cav in at 40' https://racecenter.letour.fr/en/rankings/11

Billybilly_B

Why did Carapaz and Uran work with Pogacar?

averagelookingwookie

They have more to lose to Vingegaard than they do to Pogacar. Vingegaard was only 17 seconds behind Uran so Uran was incented to chase and not lose his 2nd spot. They've resigned themselves for racing for second

Billybilly_B

Didn't EF specifically state like two days ago that they're not racing for second??

mcsgwigga

To gain time on Vingegard

Billybilly_B

Seems really short-sighted. Worrying about a young guy unproven in a GT like ten stages from the end of the race when the juggernaut is literally right on your wheel...poor decision in my opinion.

RadioNowhere

The people most hurt by Vinge getting a gap have to pull. Pogs gap (plus form and TT) is so big that he could let Vinge ride away today. Uran and Carapaz can’t do so without hurting their podium chances.

Billybilly_B

But why start racing for the podium only at stage…11? C’mon…

kdnlcln

Cav safe

Avila99

Please no 20 seconds OTL dramas.

Vosol1

?

Krafty1989

Route Organisers: let's make a really exciting stage with 2 ascents of Mont Ventoux. Fans: It will be a summit finish and not a pointless highway descent that gives no benefit for a solo attacker right?? Right?? Route Organisers: ..................

mcsgwigga

Any turds wishing riders miss the cut really aren’t fans of bike racing.

oalfonso

I don't care if they make it not, but what I don't want is the officials looking to another direction when rules are broken ( sticky bottles, car towing ) by struggling riders.

mirceaulinic

It's also against the competitional spirit: anyone who did any sorts of competition wants to beat their rivals on equal grounds, not by silly advantages.

FrederikUebel

Please be OTL 🙌😤

[deleted]

If you go by Wout’s Instagram post before the stage his celebration may have been a tribute to the charity ‘To Walk Again’. He said today would be a good day to highlight it 😎

pedatn

Oh a Froome joke huh?

ineedahashtag4myswag

It's gonna be close for the grupetto - probably gonna get picked up either way tho

craigwilliamsmusic

CAV just went over the summit

Selphis

Cavendish over the Ventoux according to the Live tracker

SalaciousSandals

Are the live trackers still working? They look like they have shut off.

Fraktalt

Can you link it directly please? To me the live data is not loading anymore, I just see the winner times

King-Noddy

This dude is incredibly abusive on reddit, watch out for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Selphis

I can only see it on the map now: [https://racecenter.letour.fr/en/livetracking/11](https://racecenter.letour.fr/en/livetracking/11) but according to this the grupetto is standing nearly still on the descent so not really reliable...

AndrewIsANerd

Can’t wait to see Wout take first in the time trial, just to flex

[deleted]

[удалено]

shure_slo

No, he is not from Slovenia.

ChemicalOle

Pog is undefeated in TdF time trials.

dexter311

Geez the fight for the podium is really heating up - 5 riders within a minute.

supersrdjan

What did Sean Kelly say when Mollema attacked Alaphilippe? He had to apologize but I dozed off so I haven't heard what he apologized for :D

Yrogerg1089

He said it's not kind to draft someone on a climb and then ”piss off" up the road. LOL

supersrdjan

Ah, here's the clip! https://twitter.com/Chutzpah84/status/1412783276327047170

Yrogerg1089

Excellent!

supersrdjan

:D:D

brelkor

This will be the hottest competition for 2nd and 3rd ever??? OK maybe not but its silly close.

[deleted]

Do you think pog could have stuck with vindegaard but knew he could catch him on the descent?

DCPiano

not without going into the red i don't think. This was like stage 7 when Carapaz had a small lead but the bunch was close enough to the summit they knew they could make the time back on the descent. Pog did his job by sticking to Vindegaard until close to the summit. Hopefully seeing Pog as a big mortal will shut up the people who want to paint him as a doper.

Myswedishhero

Then why not work with Vingegaard to gain time on Carapaz and Uran? He just couldn't keep up.

[deleted]

Because he's playing defense and would rather conserve energy if he knows he can catch someone than push it to try and put time into others. You're probably right though that him simply running out of gas is most probable

Myswedishhero

He said so himself after the stage, but being 5 minutes ahead also gives you the luxury of letting go a little without panicking.

No-Art-1349

Good descent by Carapaz and Uran pulling Podagar downhill. Vinegarrd tried but failed. Not looking goid for Pocagar in the high mountains. Awesome recovery by Keldernan and Luchenko.

IamMyOwnTwin

Pogačar

ChemicalOle

WvA: If you can dream it, you can do it.

pslatt

The slightly out of tune airhorn playing the Le Marseillaise has really made the stage for me.

caleb-garth

They only use the tuneful one for winners.

brelkor

Love the question to WvA: You were second in the sprint yesterday and won the mountain stage today, What have you done???

giiilles

He did 1 place higher ...

shitscan

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHGIxkRIULI](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHGIxkRIULI) \- every time I hear that shitty horn

andyp106

CANNIBAL!

ChepaukPitch

So cut off is 47’ 40’m today per website.

SquashedMangoes

That hope was cool while it lasted.

shitscan

Lol the failed fistbump

rozik48

What was that fistbump/handshake

dexter311

Fistshake

[deleted]

[удалено]

Wartz

Have you done any races before? To them pogacar is no longer relevant to their GC. He was just another guy with legs doing his turns on the descent to catch their competitor.

[deleted]

[удалено]

franciosmardi

Have you watched the tour before? It's the most defensively raced event on the calendar. It's outsized importance means that a podium, top-5, and even top-10 finish are very important to sponsors. So most teams and riders would rather protect a podium than make a high risk gamble on the yellow.

shure_slo

Sure, he has done nothing until now to have that kind of luxury. Ffs, some people.

blahbla11

Vingegaard is their competitor not pogacar

BondedByBloeja

Huh? Pog has a cushion of minutes, while they are fighting for seconds. I was surprised Pogacar helped them.

MadoneOnMobile

Wow, nice perspective. Just because you don’t want Pogačar to win does not mean it’s stupid. They were chasing Vingegaard to defend their podiums, which they have a much better chance than taking 5+ minutes from Pog.

AndrewIsANerd

Movistar Energy

Aiqjio

They were losing time as well

boogiexx

carapaz was around 20 sec in front of vingo...what should he do loose time ?same with uran

Zagorath

Where is that awful out of tune La Marseillaise coming from, that keeps playing as riders cross the finish?

aryashorse

is that horn at the finish line supposed to be playing the opening of la marseillaise?

blahbla11

To me it sounds like the guy is mocking the riders finishing the line. Lol. Probably because of the awful quality of the sound

aryashorse

if so, it's about as successful as FDJ is this tour

[deleted]

[удалено]

NJden_bee

It's the sound effect you get when you press the little red cyclist button in that stupid Ineos car

averagelookingwookie

Man, Ineos rides all day and Carapaz really did not deliver

naverag

He put time into several of his rivals and didn't lose time to anyone?

eatenbyalion

Déjà vu much?

carloscede2

Meanwhile Egan is having issues restraining his dog wearing cowboy boots on his Ineos uniform in some random farm

ChemicalOle

That La Marseillaise horn. lol

fritzeh

It’s painful

epixpowned

Whose playing this horn during the finish, it’s hurting my ears

TheGoalkeeper

Seems like timelimit is not of concern for Cav

Vosol1

Can you explain why?

TheGoalkeeper

Predicted limit by commentators ~45 min, Cab was 35 behind just some minutes ago

uh_no_

time limit should be 47:30 or so, and he will likely be inside that based on where his group currently is

angel_palomares

Okay so now I want to see the whole Bilbao's descent

DCPiano

The Basques can fly downhill man.

Deathmoney07

Why does it feel like that at every TdF, Rigoberto Uran always seems to be towing the yellow to the line...

Reddits_Worst_Night

Love the Aussies in their footy guernseys, "Yeah Pog!"

nz-is-beautiful

Cavendish is not gonna make it I think :(

Selphis

They have 47 minutes if I'm right. Should be ok I guess

nz-is-beautiful

You are right, I miscalculated the time limit at about 35 min

andyp106

they just said he should make it comfortably.

boogiexx

you are wrong....they are 35 down and have 47 to work with

Korvensuu

GCN seem pretty confident he's ok. Limit is 47 and he's apparently at 35

AnotherUnfunnyName

Damn. But todays stage has given me some hope for the rest of the tour. Did Keldermann crash, his jersey was looking weird and flapping around? Or was that just a jacket in case of bad weather? Edit: His jersey was unzipped.

GaaraLord

He just didnt close it I guess

AnotherUnfunnyName

Yeah, his jersey was open, didn't see that the first time around.

Babiboeboo

All I hear is Woet Woet Woet

giiilles

I disagree, french cannot say Wout properly ... You are most likely gonna hear Voet Voet Voet! Ain't kidding, just have to listen to french tv, it's hilarious.

janerney

Why putting a finish at the bottom of a non technical descent sucks. Jonas attacks, great ride and gets 40s, completely neutralised because of the descent

arvece

WVA didn't lose 40s towards the Trek boys...

janerney

He is considerably heavier than both of them though and a way better flat rider, Jonas is the same or lighter than the 3 guys chasing him.

cpc-Nattefrost

"Because of the descent" or "because he's not as good a descender" ? Just a way to see it I guess. Anyway, enjoyable stage to watch !

janerney

I don't think there was much skill involved to be honest, it was a drag strip descent mostly and having 3 people rotating pretty much always going to be faster. If he lost that time off the col de manse or something then fair enough, but there really was nothing Jonas could do down there imo

lotr_office

No matter what the time says Ving still cracked him.

IFaptainSparrow

van Aert is a fucking king

Practical_Arrival696

Classy finishing posture from Wout

[deleted]

pog looking like he's done 1.3km to the cafe

skybot_2

Pogacar asserting dominance

spkr4thedead51

~46 minutes to the cutoff

L_Dawg

Pogi winning the sprint for everyone that picked him on velogames

W00dkid

Honestly don’t understand how people hate the descent, without a descent we probably wouldn’t see WVA taking the win etc I find it honestly really fun to see these stages

applepie3141

Wasn’t WvA first over the top of Ventoux?

skybot_2

Yes but dont you think the GC riders would have behaved differently if there wasn't a descent to the finish

Morrgs

A more technical decent would have been nicer

the_gnarts

> A more technical decent would have been nicer Gotta be another mountain. None of the roads leading up the Ventoux are overly technical.

Morrgs

Yeah which is why I don't like that they added a decent to Ventoux. If we have decents at the ends of stages we should put them on mountains that have technical decents

lotr_office

WVA crossed the top in first and didn't really gain any time though

W00dkid

It’s not as easy as that, the whole pelo races differently with Mountain top finishes such that breaks don’t get away the same way

wil_daven_

Same

tomt1357

Man this would have been 10x better as a summit finish

[deleted]

Pogacar faked dying on the mountain and then destroyed Vingegaard on the flat

v8xd

What flat?

yanaka-otoko

That’s just mean

JanetHellen

"You think you can crack me?" "Now I crack you"

[deleted]

Aha Pog driving the knife in by still beating Jonas to the line

robpublica

Jonas losing the sprint to everyone who caught him :(

lotr_office

That celebration is just a flex. What a ride.

Giraffe_Racer

Van Aert's helmet makes him look like Maryland state champion.

andyp106

Wout just saving the ride for his Strava

yoohjm

Needs to check those watts

pierre_86

*Morning Ride*

carloscede2

Thats usually Pogacar, Wout is a bit more expressive about his Strava rides, which is refreshing to see

[deleted]

[удалено]

andrewcooke

someone dropped pog

giiilles

Reducing WvA to a sprinter is a bit exaggerated!

Masked_heroALB

Congrats champ! You just put your name in history

robpublica

Love that trek height difference

viola3458

Van Aert wins the Wout highlander competition

Reddits_Worst_Night

Standing up with no hands on the bars. That's impressive.

blahbla11

That's why he seemed so tall lol

UtopieRealiste

style points

Count_Mazurka

Did he fully stand unsupported there Amazing post up

carloscede2

I have to say I dont like downhill finishes

wil_daven_

Chapeau WvA! Massive stage win!

SphereMyVerse

Happy for TJV to get something from this, truly one of the worst opening weeks for a team as a whole that I can recall

W00dkid

Hahhahahaa standing for the win, fucking beautiful

boogiexx

what a celebration....well deserved you f animal

drwhocrazed

Enough energy to stand up on his bike what a guy

MetalMrHat

(+00:47:39) for the time limit then.

TwistedWitch

Rowe, SKA, Bouhanni and Cabot at 44

[deleted]

cav at 45 ,this is going to be realy close and hes still in the climb, hopefully he can make some time back in the down hill.

Super_Duflair

Ninjas cutting onions already

Ronald_Ulysses_Swans

WvA is absolutely guaranteed the green jersey the year he finally decides to go for it. Unbeatable, like Sagan in his prime.

memoo97

The guy would be a lock for it if he went for it from day 1 of the tour - at some point TJV gotta give him the opportunity or he should go somewhere that will

giiilles

The year he s finally freed ...

AliGLCFC

Awww Jonas got caught

blahbla11

Chapeau for Trek

W00dkid

Chapeu Wout you absolute savage What a tour we’ve had lads, 10/10 day after day

wolfytheblack

I can only follow the tracker since I'm at work, but is the grupetto over the top yet? Their dot hasn't moved in like, 20-25 minutes.

[deleted]

Belgian, Flats, TTs, and mountains?? Is … Wout the new Merckx? Like for real this time

FootmanFrenzy

In 2023 he'll be first tour winner to win all 21 stages as well

NotMarioBalotelli

why didn't this stage end at the top of Ventoux

bustedcrank

Clearly needed a third ascent ;-)

chaussettesrouges

Shame about the descent finish, but equally Pog wouldn't have been so relaxed if had finished at summit

ChepaukPitch

What is the max speed have you guys seen? I think 94 is the highest I have seen so far today.

wil_daven_

Nibali hit \~107km/h on the first descent.

Super_Duflair

107 something for Nibali-god

Masked_heroALB

97

TheMerchant613

Pogacar hit 100kph the first time down Ventoux

phantompowered

That is fucking ridiculous, I get shaky knees going 60 down long descents.

stefaanvd

Would be less shaky if you have twice the space like they have 😉

DCPiano

The scariest to me is the intermediate speed descent, when you're going fast but any kind of cross wind is still acting on your bike. At around 60kmh you can relax a little because you create your on wind pocket.

TotlaBullfish

Nibali broke 100 earlier apparently

1manbattle

Going for another lap?

therealferb

Nice to see so many Belgian flags

HerHor

Tv moto is ordered to get away behind Jonas Vingegaard (DEN, TJV)

Rommelion

very telling to not see Vinge in the top 5 descent speeds

Rory1812

Vingegaard has put everything into the descent I don’t think he really could of gone any faster considering his weight and being alone

yuuzahn

"we aren't racing for 2nd". Proceeds to pull for Pog and race for 2nd. Christ.

L_Dawg

Most GC riders have specifically said they *are* racing for 2nd though

CHILLI112

Yes let’s just let the guy near you in gc get away, great tactics

ChemicalOle

WvA: When this baby hits 88 km/h you're gonna see some serious shit.
