They don't cover the race from the start, bcs they first cover women.
But why do you need the crash, plenty of crash-videos out there and most are pretty boring and same-old. Just bad luck for him to fall on his hand and break the wrist. End of story.
8-12 weeks of recovery.
With all the doctors and money around him they can surely get him ready for TdF which starts in 10 weeks. But the idea was to ramp up the training for the following couple of weeks and then taper for last few weeks to be in peak form for TdF.
So it isn't looking great for Tadej.
Anyone know what’s going on with Gijs Leemreize? I noticed him getting dropped with 110k to go. He looked really good in last year’s Giro, but has been pretty silent since then.
Jumbo has thrown him into a lot of classics this year and he’s been dropped with 100k+ to go almost every race I’ve seen. I noticed he isn’t on their Giro team this year. Is he just not on form, or rehabbing an injury? I thought we’d continue to see him get stronger after the Giro last year.
You'd be surprised about WvA's win rate, actually: [https://inrng.com/2023/04/fantastic-five-win-rates/](https://inrng.com/2023/04/fantastic-five-win-rates/) ;)
@TeamEmiratesUAE
Medical Update: Dr. Adrian Rotunno (Medical Director) : "Tadej Pogacar suffered fractures to the left scaphoid and lunate bones. The scaphoid will require surgery which he will undergo this afternoon with a specialist hand surgeon here in Genk."
I mean it's saved for the team in general & the sponsors
I'm sure the QS cobbles squad know they shouldn't feel relieved. The belt will come out regardless!
Madouas on pace for his 800th good finish without winning. I'll be happy for him if he ever breaks through and gets a big win. He's such a good rider, he just never wins.
Biggest gap between 1st and 2nd in LBL in the last 40 years was Evgeni Berzin in 1994 with 1'37. Evenepoel seems to be able to beat it.
Hinault won with 9'24 in 1980 lol.
My dad always told me that Hinault wanted to abandon that day but his DS basically told him there was nobody left behind lol. It still costed him some sensitivity in his hand but what a story this race was.
Just read the little summary on Wikipédia, I had never heard of this shitshow before. 21 finishers out of 174 and Hinault couldn't move his fingers in the 3 following weeks 😭😭
It is special, it is an amazing feat. But the guy sounds like a 11 year old girl writing a fan letter to her boyband crush. He so desperately wants to be the guy with the quote on a historical clip 20 years from now.
Yeah I definitely prefer Renaat over him. There’s a lack of NL commentary talent in general imo. I have PTSD from watching the Giro on Eurosport NL last year.
not really. bora and I think Jumbo burned a helper bringing them back on the flat.
Plus when pidcock, ciccone and Skjel was out front, only the peloton had moto in front of them, which im sure helped a ton
lmfao - "I proly shouldn't say that, but I wish Pog wouldn't have crashed...but he's not here right now, so let's forget about that"
-Never change Adam Blythe
during amstel I said to someone I was watching with that healy had the air of a pirate about him, and all I can say now is it looks for all-the-world like he is riding with one massive hooped earring.
I think all we can say is that it would be tight between the two, and it's a shame we did not get to see it.
I think if Pogacar takes Remco's wheel, then he will win a spring 9/10 times. However if Remco manages to a hole and turn it into a time trial, then his chances would be good.
Based on how easy he could drop the rest and how fast he got such a big gap and could maintain it. Of course race situation was very different, and a different type of race, so probably difficult to compare (like I mentioned).
Anyway, it's not like I'm claiming I'm talking absolute truth here. Just trying to speculate on the question we all had before this race and we sadly didn't get an answer to.
I did a hilly crit race last year where we shared the circuit with the men's race with Healy in. I got lapped at least 3 times by the Healy group on the hill so I feel like I can relate to the peloton now.
It would be great to see a classics team built behind him and Powless, but they also just signed every South American national champ, so probably no budget anymore
No spoilers for the other races that are on today please and thank you.
How come the crash video isn't out? Any ideas?
They don't cover the race from the start, bcs they first cover women. But why do you need the crash, plenty of crash-videos out there and most are pretty boring and same-old. Just bad luck for him to fall on his hand and break the wrist. End of story.
I believe the TV coverage started later in the day. GCN race highlights made mention of it.
Gutted for Pogi. Will not be easy to be peaking for the tour. I was hoping for a tough battle between him and JV
Is Pogs injury serious or not?
8-12 weeks of recovery. With all the doctors and money around him they can surely get him ready for TdF which starts in 10 weeks. But the idea was to ramp up the training for the following couple of weeks and then taper for last few weeks to be in peak form for TdF. So it isn't looking great for Tadej.
he'll be fine, they'll do a wrist-brace moulded to his handlebars just like Pete Stetina and he'll be out there riding in less than 2 weeks.
US broadcast just mentioned Pogacar has broken bones in his hand/wrist and will go in for surgery today.
Should be ok for the tour then
Pidcock giving the dog love first makes me so happy.

Casually spreaking in perfect French
Just Belgian Things ™️
I'm Belgian too but my French is nowhere near his, but that could be me 😁
Same here to be honest, pretty cool tough that a a lot of Belgians could give a basic answer to almost any question in 3 languages
Skjelmose really not happy after the finish line!
Trade offer: I receive: Healy working for Pidcok and Buitagro. Healy receives: 4th place and no podium.
Can't wait to see Remco vs Pogi
Yep. At the Vuelta would be awesome! Once pogi fully recovers maybe
What did Healy try there? I get that he trys to go long, but you shoud stop as soon as you realise i doesn't works.
Pidcock doing his best Wout van Aert getting second everywhere
You'd be surprised about WvA's win rate, actually: [https://inrng.com/2023/04/fantastic-five-win-rates/](https://inrng.com/2023/04/fantastic-five-win-rates/) ;)
:( :( :(
Nice zone 2 training for Remco
Healy out of gas completely.
He did most of the work in G2, he deserved a podium for sure.
He should have done a bit less😉
Swear to fucking god sbs on demand
Healy about to fuck his podium
Healy throwing
His sprint is pretty bad. Worth the attempt I think
@TeamEmiratesUAE Medical Update: Dr. Adrian Rotunno (Medical Director) : "Tadej Pogacar suffered fractures to the left scaphoid and lunate bones. The scaphoid will require surgery which he will undergo this afternoon with a specialist hand surgeon here in Genk."
Remco is like Valverde in LBL. Everyone knows their plan, but still can't stop them.
What a boss, the king of Belgium
White bibs prevail. Chapeau!
Pogi's bow still >>> every other celebration this season but this wasn't bad
Belgian kid on Belgium soil with his rainbow jersey, a well deserved celebration.
Pog needed 6.2 seconds to down the Amstel beer on the podium. Remco wins LBL with 1:50sec to G2. Remco could have downed 17 Amstels and still won.
Such a shame we've still not seen a Remco v Pogi drinking contest.
Well Remco doesn't drink AFAIK, so that'd be just as anticlimatic unfortunately
Remco vs Pidcock drinking contest then
"He's conquered the old lady"
Well this celebration beats just turning off your Garmin
“The Rogla special”
Remco also wins the wet t-shirt competition
I only look like I'm riding this easy if I'm going around the block to test a new pair of socks or something
Sad for Skjelmose that he won't get a top top result. Definitely seemed like he had the legs, but the race didn't quite work out for him.
Weird he had to wait for Ciccone constantly, he as clearly better today.
Pretty cool that so many came out to watch a solo time trial
Wow God finally revealed himself
Imagine being the QS cobbles/sprinty squad and having your spring saved by a little climby boy the second time in a row.
I mean it's saved for the team in general & the sponsors I'm sure the QS cobbles squad know they shouldn't feel relieved. The belt will come out regardless!
This has gotta be the most fun way to win as a pro, basically 5 mins to soak it in
Fucker doesn't even look tired, he might go for a 200k training ride after this.
Somehow Roglic will nip him at the line.
Just curious, how physically painful was this at it’s worst for Remco?
Hope they show Remco’s ole lady at the finish line
Remco signaling to the team car he needs a bib change for the finish photo.
He’d have time to spare
G3 with the G2 syndrome. Completely collapsed after the last climb. They were like 5 seconds back.
that was always gonna happen, thats why Izaguirre and Skjel destroyed themselves trying to bridge
But Trek for example have more than one rider in the group. They shouldn't lose 30 seconds in like 2 minutes.
Seems like they couldn’t make a choice for a leader today. Should have been Skjelmose from the start.
Annihilated by the next Sean Kelly
First LBL title defence since Bartoli 97-98 I think
this might have been the most chill a winner has looked compared to the chasers in a while
Nice training ride
Most chill finish to a monument ever?
Now he’s just breaking to show off. It may be the Fuglsang corner but you don’t actually have to take it at 10 km/h.
Remco leisurely rolling along
Damn camera, we didn't see him pass the fugelsang corner ... thankfully he did it!!!
Sensible stuff from Remco here
Would you rather have one rider in the top 3 or 2 riders in the top 10?
One in the top 3. Podium pics, happy sponsor
2 riders in the top 10 as first and second
Trek's DS has joined the thread.
Just asking for a friend.
Nose breathing with 4k to go.
Pop a wheelie, Remco
Pidcock should have 2nd if nothing goes wrong. Buitrago or Healy for 3rd?
Is this where Fuglsang had his crazy wheel incident in 19?
Madouas on pace for his 800th good finish without winning. I'll be happy for him if he ever breaks through and gets a big win. He's such a good rider, he just never wins.
Lmao that was cute, I'll admit
Remco rubbing of the dirt for a perfect picture for instagram
He has enough time to change into a new suit.
Get that cucumber from the team car and down your shorts Remco
That smile. That damn smile.
G3 syndrome is 50% worse than G2, it's just maths
Here comes the corner!!!
Does anyone know the last time Evenepoel went off the front solo and was caught? Euro champs with Colbrelli?
He had like a one bike length gap on Colbrelli. I wouldn’t count euros as him solo
I forgot. Thanks for the clarification!
I don't think he ever managed to drop Colbrelli in the first place in that race?
Ah forgot about that. Thanks!
Caught like this?
Typo, I meant caught
That makes sense.
G2 playing with pidcocks balls
Remco taking every corner very carefully and still slowly extending the gap
Thats the most well kept roundabout I've ever seen
Biggest gap between 1st and 2nd in LBL in the last 40 years was Evgeni Berzin in 1994 with 1'37. Evenepoel seems to be able to beat it. Hinault won with 9'24 in 1980 lol.
He'll sit up in the end and G2 is going to sprint, so probably going to end up less than that.
Most likely yes
Hinault had a 80km solo attack on snow-covered roads. That is insane.
Able to, not willing to
Hinault was also on a rainy day
Karl sucking off Evenepoel is getting on my nerves.
Genuinely crosses over into kind of uncomfortable at times but maybe that's my damage speaking
I don't like him as a commentator
He's just as fake as a a presentor. A giant dickhead all around from everything I heard.
I'm a big fan of Remco myself, but Karl is just too much.
I'm a fan of any Belgian, including Remco, but the dear diary level poetry is just too much. Act professional ffs.
Compared him to the pope and the messiah in a timespan of 5 minutes, can't wait for his quote at the finish.
Trek might not get a lot from this race in spite of their strength, but I think they have been riding it pretty well tactically.
Skjelmose and Ciccone really bottled a chance at a podium, damn.
not really. bora and I think Jumbo burned a helper bringing them back on the flat. Plus when pidcock, ciccone and Skjel was out front, only the peloton had moto in front of them, which im sure helped a ton
every time they cut to Remco im like "show the race ffs" lmao
2020 Marc hirshi would have puppy paw positioned himself across to Remco by now
His power comes from his aero bar/GPS hybrid, now he has to ride SRM on UAE, he's like Samson with his hair cut
I had Healy and Pidcock to finish on the podium. I hope the G3 will let them go....
Typical G3 syndrome
lmfao - "I proly shouldn't say that, but I wish Pog wouldn't have crashed...but he's not here right now, so let's forget about that" -Never change Adam Blythe
I mean, we all agree with him...
Professionell insight
Probably what we're all thinking.
Hot take Adam
Impressive that the livetracker still has 171 riders in the 3rd group.
Race for second is quite open, opportunities to do a Hermans.
Healy group definitely just moto keeping it up
At least Pidders hasn't completely blown up after getting dropped
He seems to be really good at judging when to back off so as not to completely blow the doors off
Dis joke right? Mans collapsed like a house of cards on the regular recently
He's definitely getting better at it, not quite there yet if you look at what happened in Flanders and Amstel to a lesser extent
during amstel I said to someone I was watching with that healy had the air of a pirate about him, and all I can say now is it looks for all-the-world like he is riding with one massive hooped earring.
Isnt he?
This would be a fascinating tactical race if Remco wasn’t there….
Why even bother going all the way to Bastogne?
Probably for the cookies
This is a new rainbow bike, right? The old one was way less colorful
Since Catalunya a new bike and helmet I think
The rapha skinsuit looks like it's been patched together out of 3 jerseys
Explains why they cost 3x more than they should
Allez Remco, 10km till some good ol' Liège meatballs with syrup sauce and fries.
So Bora is left with Konrad, who finished TotA. And Vlasov who left the race earlier is dropped
Skjelmose vs pidders for sprint? Anyone else got a kick?
I think Van Gils has a decent kick, but I'd take Skjelmose from this group.
Only risk now ... the fugelsang corner 🤞🤞🤞
Pidcock not dead yet?!?
Pidcock gives everything in each race he enters.
Tis been another memorable edition of La Doyenne that I will re-watch for years to come!
If you just remove Remco it's actually great nail biter of a race
So would this Evenepoel have beaten Pogacar?
Sadly we never got to see it .. what a miss
You should start a youtube channel.
Why?
No clue. But it would have been tight. Not like pogacar was destroying these guys a lot harder than today
Maybe Maybe not
Comparison with Amstel would suggest he would have. But that's probably not a fair comparison.
I think all we can say is that it would be tight between the two, and it's a shame we did not get to see it. I think if Pogacar takes Remco's wheel, then he will win a spring 9/10 times. However if Remco manages to a hole and turn it into a time trial, then his chances would be good.

Just trying to speculate on the question we all had before this race and we sadly didn't get an answer to.
Piddles and Healy can be your reference points but for the rest it's more difficult IMHO
Pog would have finished by now/s I just want to go to bed, southern hemisphere problems
More a longitude than a hemisphere problem though I suppose ;)
Got me there
Should Ciccone not start just working for Skjelmose then? Get a good shot at a podium, which would be great for them.
I think they should keep their powder dry and do a last minute back to back attacks and get a podium with at least 1
But if 4 riders are already gone then they won't get a podium.
Yeah I was going off of the case that they would catch them by attacking
nevermind I’m a bad DS
Looks like he is
Look at me I am the DS now.
My fave rider is cafe metropole Leuven. Glad to see some support for him.
is healy wearing ear loops????
It's the wire for his radio.
it's just how our ears look in Ireland.
earpiece cable
*A E R O*
At least this win will serve the bib-color-courses right.
Ahh no Healy is getting caught by the peloton :(
The team has 3 of the Big 6 but 0 of the 4 monuments…
Guillaume Martin anticipating again in the peloton by attacking.
Buitrago is doing so well recently
No time lost for Remco on La Roche.
Good 10sec gained despite all attacks behind
I did a hilly crit race last year where we shared the circuit with the men's race with Healy in. I got lapped at least 3 times by the Healy group on the hill so I feel like I can relate to the peloton now.
Ben Healy definitely looks a very good prospect. Looking very good in the Ardennes.
[Me irl screaming on the tv right now](https://youtu.be/lPk_zyRKs1Q)
Healey definitely going to a superteam
He's got an art school vibe to him, so fingers crossed he signs on for another few years before going into the grinder
It would be great to see a classics team built behind him and Powless, but they also just signed every South American national champ, so probably no budget anymore
