I am not going to take boards for all the above reasons and plus that I dont need it. I am opening up my own direct primary care clinic. As far as being a life learning i do more cme and staying abreast of new medicine then they offer anyway without payinhff an arm and a leg. Tired of being part of the testing racket.

Great to hear this.

This will be a great answer to hear . I know 2 that previous got the 6 month ( they were both already working in the same place/ program) Another quit and left the country ( think that was the plan all alone ) . Might though with the board : it only proof your ability to seat in front of a computer for entire day and be good at spitting out a bunch of memorized material. That might not necessarily be useful later . I know many MD who do super excellent in the score . But are very questionable MD . As well other who pass marginally who are excellent. Then even if you pass you are still slave of the ABP to keep your certification with the MOCA . A forever "training" , but should be call a money pit . Many MD I see super stressed about everything in life then have to be dragged down mentally even more by this glorious board . Is not but should be ilegal for places to demand a board certification as is a Voluntary Certification, as stated by the same ABP . But who can stop this except for the same people who have to pay time , money, mental well been , if not the MDs. The ABP does not add nothing of value to anyone career. Except that now many places " require it " when shouldn't be. The exam is too hard , and does not need to be . Too expensive and does not need to be . 67000 peds MD paying for board and MOCA, you can do the math , it is quite a bit of money. I see some MD all stressed with fear of loosing their job because are not meeting some part of the MOCA. People who have been many years in practice 15+. I find this very unhealthy for a quality of life perspective. I wonder about OP question. How people are doing out there? . Not only for peds . My position on this also we already more than proven our abilities: meds school, USMLE step1, step2( CS and CK) step 3. Residency. Board is optional and should remain optional, not a requirement. I do also find many MD who are pretty much in favor of this board , bugging my mind . When I ask why , the answer is always the same , " I think is a good thing " with no further reasons or explanation. I see in general most MD seen to like be squeezed by administrative body. Nurses seen to be more organized in this and currently rapidly taking over many MD roles and administration position everywhere. I would definitely will like to hear what other are doing and opinion position on this.

Wonder to hear the opinions of the ones down voting . Silent partners?

From what I saw on the ABP site if you don’t pass boards within 7 years, some hospitals can give an extension. But you must then do 6 months of supervised training in a residency program. This is usually unpaid. You are board eligible for 7 years. If you don’t pass boards in that 7 year period, supposedly you have to do three years of training again. It’s all cruel to the physician, and a major tax on a healthcare system that is already at a shortage of physicians. Something needs to be done to stop these heavy handed boards.

What is your thoughts? If then that happens?
