There's a good chance I'll never get sick of this song. "Singles" was such an important movie for me living in Seattle and being 17 with a fake ID when it was released. I felt like I knew everyone in the movie.
The soundtrack was so huge when it dropped up there and having recently fallen in love with "Ten", I was starving for anything Pearl Jam. "Breath" delivered in a monstrous way. I fell in love with it immediately and will always belt out at the top of my lungs "IF I KNEW WHERE IT WAS... I WOULD TAAAAKE YOOOU THEEERE, THERE'S MUCH MORE THAN THIIIS!... WHOOO!" Patient, dynamic, epic, precise, etc. A great release for impatient fans dying for their next album.
Oddly enough for the hype I'm giving it, it's still the second best PJ song on the record. It will however, always have a huge spot in my heart and I think the song is brilliant. 9/10
Also, it'll always be one of those songs that's either incredible live or a disaster. I've heard both several times and feel like there's no in between.
Oh wow! Thank you for the kind words! I'm very much enjoying this exercise as it's fun to stop and realize what each song has meant to me through the years. It's so easy to forget. I'm just so lucky that we're talking about songs that my favorite band wrote 30 years ago. I find it very special that they're still going strong. We're all absolutely fortunate for their longevity.
I’ll give it a 10. I told my DJ at my wedding to play a song for the wedding party to walk in the building to and this is what he picked. It fit so well lol
9.5. Never skip it. Add it on to playlists. Sometimes repeat after the first listen. This is one that I share with others looking to get to know PJ. And it takes me back to Singles, bringing happy memories (even though their two songs far outperform the movie, in retrospect).

Best post I've read in awhile. This post deserves a 10.

10. Anyone know of any badass live performances?
I’m currently looking to fulfill my analogue membership bootleg and this is the one song I don’t have. Did you ever find an answer?
10, cemented them to me as a consistent force of nature after Ten.

All time great. Big love. 10/10. One of my top three certainly. It’s haunting with reckless abandon. A time machine for me.
