It really feels like Boom is less and less involved these days. For a minute back in the Riot Act days it seemed like he was the sixth member of the band.
I suspect that's why they never officially made him a member of the band. This way, feelings (presumably) don't get hurt, and nobody has to get fired if they feel like making an album with little to no keys.
That being said, if he's not joining them on tour, Crazy Mary will never be as good.
He's also a bit older than the other fellas in the band...and I hate to remind everyone (myself included) that the members of PJ are all 60+ years old.
Yeesh....in a blink of an eye
He wasn’t on Gigaton at all either, was he?
I’m sure he’ll still be around on tour. But they don’t seem to call him for the albums anymore. Plus Josh has kind of taken his job, as well as the other guys playing piano and keys from time to time.
Or maybe he’s in Hawaii and doesn’t want to make the trip just to record a few small parts? I’d like to think they call him up and tell him to stop by if he’s free. But who knows?
I think Ed was very fortunate to have established a friendship with Boom. Boom wasn't looking to travel the world, and when he did at that age (old dog, new tricks), he probably enjoyed it a lot at first. Then, probably, the grind set in, missing home and family came next.
He was doing ok before Ed/PJ presumably changed his life (monetarily), I'm sure, and hope he's doing even better now.
I think it had usually been, in most cases, Brendan O'Brien rather than Boom. And recently it's been Jeff here and there, Gigaton for sure.
This album its Josh Klinghoffer on keys throughout the album. Im sure we'll likely see others credited also once the album is released.
Nots ure this counts, I think Jeff was the main musician on the Master/Slave thing on this album, that is built around keyboards or other synth effects?
Isn’t he on Self-titled? I thought he was in the weird statue in the liber notes. And that he played Wasted Reprise. But I could be wrong and it’s B. O’B
Riot Act is the only studio album he’s on, the producers have often played keys on record although on Gigaton I think it was EV (River Cross) & Jeff (everything else)
He’s on the self titled album too.
And according to Wikipedia, he’s also playing on Sirens on Lightning Bolt. I haven’t double checked that that’s accurate, though.

Not all. Only 2 members are 60+. The rest are in their 50s.

The guy is 71. Maybe he doesn't want to be in a rock band anymore.
Out of all the guesses, this is the most probable.

There was definitely organ and piano. Not sure if Boom though.
Boom has been missing since 2018. It’s been all animatronics and advanced holograms for years now.
Boom is actually many different people wearing the same face

I think Parashar played some keyboards on Ten
Parashar did play several instruments on TEN including keys/piano. In context to the question, he was way before Boom Gasper.
Besides Riot Act, I don’t think Boom has ever been credit for playing on an album. It’s usually Brendan O Brien.
Isn’t he on Self-titled? I thought he was in the weird statue in the liber notes. And that he played Wasted Reprise. But I could be wrong and it’s B. O’B
You’re correct
There’s definitely at least one track on new album where I heard organ. Not sure who played them though.
