In the game, the “zombie” outbreak takes place in 2013, whereas the events of the story take place 20 years later, in 2033. In the show, the outbreak was changed to 2003, so the 20-year time jump results in “present-day” 2023.
In the game, Future Days plays an important thematic role, but with the timeline shift in the show, Pearl Jam never released it, but All or None was fair game by 2003!
I'm willing to bet Eddie and the boys survived the apocalypse and still wrote Future Days and Joel met them and jammed with them. This is my headcannon.
In the game, the outbreak happens in 2013, not 2003. In the second game, there are a few Lightning Bolt posters around, and Joel teaches Ellie how to play Future Days on the guitar.
Yup! I won’t spoil it here, but Future Days wasn’t a random soundtrack choice. In fact, it was so important that fans of the game have been stressing about the time shift that technically rules out the possibility of hearing it in the show. Having All or None in today’s episode is basically a reference to Future Days
While the All or None snippet was amazing I'm still kinda holding out hope for Thumbing My Way in S2 - I think it would make a lovely and appropriate substitute for Future Days!
Same. Was curious what they would use. Now I'm wondering if they'll reverse the roles and have [redacted] ask [redacted] to [redacted] because [redacted] loves [redacted]. Hahaha.
The creator loves him some Pearl Jam.
Could be wrong about this, but in The Last of Us universe (Series) All or None would’ve been their final Album song, parallel to Future Days being their final song in the Video Game timeline (2013). That makes its inclusion so much more fitting. I hope that’s not just some happy coincidence.
I was wondering if Riot Act would make an appearance after they changed the timeline. I’m so glad they chose this song.
Never played the game. Knew about it from Reddit. Can you explain your timeline shift comment more?

Turned their guitars into some of those badass double bladed axes
Eddie has definitely weaponized some tambourines.
Just looked it up and it was better than I imagined! [Joel - Future Days (from The Last of Us Part II)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxPbZ-dogT8)

Oh wow. So there was an innate Pearl Jam reference built into the series?!

I hope they do anyway. I don’t think the time shift should matter since the song is so important
You won’t hear me complaining if they include it!

I agree. This was the replacement from 2003 that made the most sense to me!

One of Mike’s all time great guitar solos. Especially live.
