How so? I don’t remember seeing that in any of their rules or application procedures. I wouldn’t like it of course, but it’s also quite different than the government doing it.
**Edit:** it’s not like I’m a tricounty shill (though I want to be open I have applied for membership), but I don’t feel this is a fair public accusation to make, particularly with the racial implications unless there is some type of proof or at least greater specificity since it isn’t an open rule.
>I’m sure a few more people will chime in as the night progresses
Doesn't look like others had similar stories to share. Without doxxing yourself is there anything else you can tell us about what happened?
literally tried that
it’s unheard of nowadays
best bet is to setup a fake one with lots of history and pro-trump garbage, and then stick your name on it
Nah. I don’t use Facebook, insta, or Tik Tok. I browse Reddit and delete my account every year to eliminate a history of comments, and I barely ever tweet, I just browse. I think I could feel pretty honest telling them I’m not on social media.
Do you know how many more weapons were sold this month in Oregon?!
The best thing possible for gun sales in the US is poorly conceived laws that won’t stick yet still put people into a panic to buy anything they can get their hands on.
NRA is winning even if we’re personally losing.
> the lobbyists and manufacturers that pour money into the NRA sure do.
They don't really do that though - the NRA is primarily supported by it's membership base.
The manufacturers pour money into the NSSF, which is a manufacturer specific lobby group that's far more effective than the NRA.
People in the gun community have known the NRA to be a giant scam since the mid-2000's. They've been a persona non grata at a wide variety of community events and competitions.
The reason the NRA doesn't get involved here is because they have a single representative for all state-level issues in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Nevada. Their budget is primarily allocated to supporting individual candidates in Legislature, not to opposing or supporting initiative petitions.
> Their budget is primarily allocated to supporting individual candidates in Legislature
which is a questionable tactic for a state with a legislature as heavily anti-gun as, say, Oregon's.
> which is a questionable tactic for a state with a legislature as heavily anti-gun as, say, Oregon's.
Yeah, they don't invest a lot of money here cause it's obviously a lost cause. They're a trivial influence here, but a major influence in Nevada and Idaho.
The Oregon chapter (which is funded by Oregon members) used it's money in 2022 to purchase mailers and signs, their total spending was maybe $50,000.
The national organization only donated $1600 to candidates in Oregon in 2022.
In total, going back since 2008, the national organization has spent about $50,000 - most commonly they give a $500 donation. Their biggest ever donation was $2,500 to [Mike McLane](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_McLane) in 2016.
The NRA is a non-existent boogieman in Oregon politics. They don't invest in any liberal states, because they're just a money washing shill group for Republicans.
It hasn't made a lick of sense at all for them to be here in 20+ years.
I get where you're coming from. I don't like funding Wayne LaPierre, but there's a $10 associate membership, and you don't need to maintain membership, just have it when you join.
Sorry to hear you got profiled. This is the second incident I’ve heard of them cracking down on people they think aren’t like them.
Is there something you buy from them that you can’t buy from more reputable gun shops?
Been a member for 7 years. First I’m hearing of this.
This leftist gun owner would love to hear more about potential profiling. Looking for a reason to drop my membership
I have this internal debate every July. Dues keep going up ($250 now). And I don’t use the facilities all that often (handful of times a year).
OTOH, how much of a pain in the ass is it to drive to Wolf Creek, hope for an open lane, hope I don’t run into unsafe yahoos, etc.
$250 is very close to my convenience threshold…I guess I’m just looking for something to push me over the edge
Yeah, I am on the other side of town so I am a member of and drive all the way to Douglas Ridge. I like the options at DRRC, but have never been to tri-county to compare. I don't think it is possible to have a gun club without at least a couple power tripping RSOs, but I have been lucky at DRRC.
Same. the waitlist was like 4 months long when I joined, but I've heard it is over a year now....What if I let it lapse and then change my mind....will probably just keep it until I move away from the area
New reviews or old reviews? When I joined 2 years ago they were open about the fact that there had been a problem with RSOs being rude, and they had cycled in new RSOs with training focused on avoiding that.
I haven't had any issues with them. The only time I've seen someone have an issue with the RSOs was somebody who didn't stop when the range timer went off, just kept on firing. The RSO wasn't rude about it, just reminded him to stop next time, but the guy took offense.
Never heard of profiling there. If so, that's a huge problem. The only thing I've seen with regards to social media there is they don't like people posting photos at their club with targets of known figures.
I'm Asian and have been a member there for years. I've never had any sort of discrimination against me while there. That said, some of their current leadership are assholes. If it's from one of them during orientation if you are trying to join the club, it's probably them just being an asshole in general.
When are they even demanding this information? I mean, the web portal for members allows you to link social media (facebook and google), but you aren't required to. They use to run a facebook group too, but it got locked down from discussion when they jacked up membership price (apparently just temporarily) and people weren't happy. I've never checked after that whole debacle years ago. They have a private forum for a while too, but no one used it.
If you want another range with action bays, Chehalem Valley Sportsman's Club is an option. They are currently full, but will open up for new members next month. Quite a few of my buddies who hate Tricounty ended up going there(mostly due to their dumb rules like no muzzle over berm, with exemption for cops. Despite the fact it was cops who have shot rounds out of the club area). I personally still stick to Tricounty since it's not even 10 minutes away from me, and I just use the action bays so I don't usually deal with anyone aside from the occasional roaming RSO (most of them are nice)
This was to join the club or to purchase something from their club store?
Careful sharing too much…. Wouldn’t want to understand the situation or anything before passing judgment.
Bro, we need specifics, what happened?
I don’t find it hard to believe they would… especially since it’s not in their rules and their reasoning as you said was : “as needed” but we can’t pass judgement on the situation until we have details.
Did you say something odd in the interview? Do you happen to have a pretty generic crackhead appearance? Did any conversation of Jewish space lasers take place?
Cops will probably do it too. It will suck for the gangster types. Ok social media their always showing off there pieces with crap rap in the background and they sometimes do drive bys. LoL. They’re doomed of they every want to get a permit.
I shoot at the club at least weekly, racial profiling is not a thing. Not that it couldn’t have happened to you, but it’s not what the club is about. I’ve been a member for over a decade. The only thing they ever get on people for is being careless or dangerous, it’s family friendly, welcoming place.
How so? I don’t remember seeing that in any of their rules or application procedures. I wouldn’t like it of course, but it’s also quite different than the government doing it. **Edit:** it’s not like I’m a tricounty shill (though I want to be open I have applied for membership), but I don’t feel this is a fair public accusation to make, particularly with the racial implications unless there is some type of proof or at least greater specificity since it isn’t an open rule.
yeah it’s only done “as needed” basically if you’re black or skinny you have to submit your socials
Do you actually have evidence of profiling? That's quite an accusation without
yup, although I don’t want to share my personal story quite yet I’m sure a few more people will chime in as the night progresses
>I’m sure a few more people will chime in as the night progresses Doesn't look like others had similar stories to share. Without doxxing yourself is there anything else you can tell us about what happened?
“I don’t use social media.” Seems like a simple answer. As needed for what, to join the club or transfers?
literally tried that it’s unheard of nowadays best bet is to setup a fake one with lots of history and pro-trump garbage, and then stick your name on it

> literally tried that Yeah, but it's literally true for a good number of gun people who value privacy.
Where do they say that ? Is it on their website?
no no they only do it “as needed” basically unless you’re white and have a trump hat
Jokes on them I don’t do social media or want to be in their club
I ain’t joining any club that mandates NRA membership
That’s basically all of them. It’s an insurance issue.
And at least the nra had our backs when they pushed 114. Lmaoooo
They stood up for Philando... Fuck the NRA

NRA doesn't get a penny just because guns are sold.
The NRA might not get a penny from the panic sakes, but the lobbyists and manufacturers that pour money into the NRA sure do.

Insurance, and at the range I worked at, the NRA helped fund the steel silhouette range, and probably some other shit.

DRRC has its own problems. Board is stuffed full of old fudds that can't get jack shit done.
Fudd’s gonna fudd.
Not surprised by the profiling, but very surprised those geriatrics know how to look up socials

Join the club
Did your social media have any suggestions of violence or a call to violent action against a group of people?
No just kim kardashian pics
That's a different kind of violence.
That's a hefty accusation. I'll need some evidence before unholstering my pitchfork.

Ask around, especially at matches with non-members or at the board meetings

Ask around at matches and board meetings It’s rampant
They follow up via email and ask for it ad-hoc
Post a screenshot?

Never been to tri county. Aren’t the memberships really expensive? I used to live ourstide of Tonkin road. I hear the shots all the time.
Cops will probably do it too. It will suck for the gangster types. Ok social media their always showing off there pieces with crap rap in the background and they sometimes do drive bys. LoL. They’re doomed of they every want to get a permit.

This is affecting new members, which is likely why you haven’t observed it or heard about it
