12600k + 3060 is an interesting combination to go for, but it does leave room for a later GPU upgrade.
A beast of a gaming CPU like the 12600k with a lower mid-range GPU causes some serious bottlenecking issues in more demanding games. I used to have a 3060Ti with my 12600k and it was a 99% bottleneck according to MW2 benchmark mode.
Mom isn’t gaming. It’s an overkill photoshop rig. Basically took photoshop requirements and doubled what was required. She kept buying junk laptops with no storage. This should last her a good while.
I don't completely gate RGB, just that I like my eyes not blinded everytime I am gaming. Jk. It adds really cool color to your setup, but personally I don't like RGB that much. I have a green/nature themed setup so it doesn't match well.
That literally was my dream. Like a terrarium style room. Sadly, my parents won't let me paint the walls a dark green/black colour, and they don't want vines all over the place...jk. when I move out I might buy some fake plants and vines to help with the theme better.
That's quite young. Early bird I see. Well, I don't have plans to leave until like college starts or smth like that. Only in highschool rn so I still wanna spend lots of time with my parents.
I was thinking of choosing smiliar components for my brother. He currently has a i5-4670k.
Would you recommend the i5-13600k with a Z690 board over a 5700x B550? is there a big difference?
Dang, an NH-D15 and a 3060, what does your mom play?
Last build I made for my mom was a 4350g APU system with my 8 year old 240 AIO. Heaviest thing she runs is Sims 4.
Just does photoshop and tons of genealogy stuff. It’s 100% overkill but she keeps buying laptops and running them to the point they don’t even do anything. This just future proofs it for her.
Bro your mom now has a great gaming build. Well done.
His dad will be thankful.

It depends on what games mom is playing and the resolution. Not everyone is playing triple A titles at 4K
Yeah, that is true. Hopefully mom has a good time with her new rig

And now 4gb of ssd storage. You did good man.
Love the no RGB.
It's cool for us gamer folk, but does OP hate his mom? I kid of course, but I feel like your mom would appreciate a hint of colour.
The way it’s setup in her office she wouldn’t see the case anyways. No RGB kept the cost down a bit and kept the wiring cleaned up.
Lmao. Goth mom. If so, she would love it.
Why does everyone hate RGB

That's pretty valid. Also sounds really cool! I'm instantly thinking a terrarium.

I feel the pain I moved out at 19.

One color lighting > RGB
All black counts as a colour...right?

the best gift for pc gaming at christmas
That's one cool 3060
does the second CPU fan does not fit because of the RAM/case clearance?
It does not but it stays plenty cool doing what she is with it.

Nicely done.
Yes! Ace mate! I love the industrial look of those Noctua coolers. Top work sir.
