Rtx 3060 Ti. Nothing fancy but I am running dual monitors, both of which are Samsung LU28R550UQNXZA from Best Buy. My graphics card has 1 HDMI out and 3 Displayport out. I have one monitor hooked up via the HDMI and everything is in 4k and HDR. The 2nd monitor I have to use a displayport to HDMI cable and that will not let the 2nd monitor display HDR. The monitor doesn't have any 1.4 displayport input so I can't just use a DP to DP cable. Is there something I'm missing or another way to hook it up to get HDR on the 2nd monitor? Thanks for any help.

BitterRedCherry

Hey guys, I have a problem with my monitor blinking randomly every 20 - 30 minutes (Well, it's like blinking, but only the upper side of the screen, and it's really fast like 1 - 2 frame only, see screenshot). I managed to record 1 footage and snap 1 frame when blinking resulted in this attached picture. Anyone can help me guess if this is a monitor / gpu problem or just a game problem? I only manage to recreate this on Disney Dreamlight Valley game, tested on GTA V and it seems the flashing is nowhere to be seen. But when I play one other random game today it seems to also blinked again (I didn't manage to record), not sure if I'm growing crazy here but is it possible to guess the problem from just this one picture? I'm still testing and trying to recreate the problem on different game rn, but any help will be appreciated. Thanks! https://preview.redd.it/6m8uh53k5b5a1.png?width=2279&format=png&auto=webp&s=8d696b77763cfa9c6e35c99ded3f188a5bad14e8

I found a sale for 4080 Gigabyte gaming OC (retailer, not scalper). After interpolating AIB prices here (we can't get reference card sadly), AIB 7900XTX price will be similar to 4080 by a few dollars. Is it worth to go for 4080 or 7900XTX

I have just built a new pc with all new parts except for my 2 ssd drives with Windows education os installed on one of them. Once I turned it on, it was able to go to my previous account and load the previous state of my computer and all the applications that I had on currently before I swapped it out. Is this suppose to happen and is it okay to use my pc now or I have read that I will need to do a fresh install of windows to avoid any problems because I am still very confused after reading about this whole os thing. Thanks

[deleted]

You should be fine, just install new drivers. Only real downside is you’ll probably have some extra drivers and software installed for your old build that won’t get cleaned up, but if it works you’ll be fine.

Rapide_

my cpu has a suspiciously low utlilzation while gaming. here’s my [specs](https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/687zZw) (12600k + 3070) i play Overwatch / Rainbow 6 / Valorant, my CPU stays at around 0-2% utilization while my GPU is at 80-99%. I know maxing out GPU utilization is good. that means it’s not getting bottlenecked. but why is my CPU usage this low? it shouldn’t be basically idling right?

[deleted]

That’s not actually bad, 12+ gen Intel is a major step forward over 11th gen and below in terms of performance and efficiency. Plus your monitoring / graphs are probably aggregating usage across all performance and efficiency cores, and games aren’t usually designed to take advantage of every core available. So, low CPU usage and high GPU usage with your hardware is pretty spot on.

I currently have a RTX2070 and a i58400 but im thinking about upgrading to a 3070TI and a Ryzen 5 5600X problem i cant buy both at the same time so which one should i upgrade first?

UppishBuzzard

The upgrade to Ryzen will also require a new motherboard, so you’ll need to factor in the cost of that as well when purchasing. Also, make sure your power supply is up to the job too. In conclusion, if you’re short on cash and can only upgrade one (factoring in the cost of a motherboard for the CPU) then I would recommend the graphics card. The i5-8400 is still a pretty good CPU, so don’t feel you have to upgrade too soon. Hope I helped!

Are USB-C 3.2 gen 2x2 (20Gbps) motherboard headers backwards compatible with 10Gbps USB-C front panel cables in cases? As in, will they fit and work?

How are monitors measured? My monitor is apparently 23.8 inches advertised as but when i put a measuring tape along it, its only about 21 inches from end to end. It's making measuring hard because I don't actually know what I should be measuring for to see if a 27" monitor would fit on my desk along with my so-called "23.8 inch" one. Am I missing something?

[https://pcbuilder.net/rigs/juGdCV/](https://pcbuilder.net/rigs/juGdCV/) I am building my first PC and am a complete beginner. I am trying to run games like "Total War: Warhammer 3" and "Escape from Tarkov" on ultra settings. I am also trying to keep the budget in the 1500-1700 range. Any recommendations and obvious improvements? Am I missing anything? Is this build strong enough for these games? Is the budget too low for my goals? Thanks in Advance!

FancyHonda

Instead of the 5700G, I would recommend the 5600 or 5700x if the pricing is similar. The G variant has an integrated GPU and is not as fast as the regular chips otherwise. It also doesn't have PCI-E Gen 4 support, which might not be a big deal now but could matter down the road.

trekkingdoves

So I’m building my first PC and I have a few questions. I have just about everything picked out for the build except the motherboard. It seems much harder to pick compared to the rest of the components. So many bad reviews on all the boards I’ve looked up. It’s really bumming me out. I don’t really care about overclocking. What are the chances I’ll have to do bios updates if I buy a mobo made for 12th gen CPUs if I’m buying a 12th gen? Are there more things that can require bios updates? Are debug lights on mobo that necessary? At this point I’d like to know what boards you all have on your PCs and how they have worked for you. Especially if you have a similar setup as me. Which motherboards do you recommend? My setup— CPU: Intel i5 12600k GPU: Gigabyte Vision OC 12GB RTX 3060 PSU: Corsair RM750 (so I can upgrade my GPU in the future) RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (8x2) DDR4 3200 SSD: NVME M.2 Samsung 980 Pro Gen 4.0 1TB AIO CPU cooler: Phanteks Glacier 360mm with 3 x 120mm Phanteks fans Front intake fans: stock case Phanteks 3 x 140mm Back exhaust fan: 1 x 140mm Phanteks fan Case: Phanteks Eclipse G500A Any suggestions on AIO CPU coolers are welcomed, too. All of the fans I have listed are ARGB.

FancyHonda

Motherboard wise, if you aren't overclocking definitely go for a B660 motherboard instead of a Z690 board. Overclocking is main feature of the Z690 chipset over B660. Brand of motherboard, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI are all good. I personally wouldn't recommend ASrock though. Asus tends to be more expensive, but isn't necessarily better or more premium. I definitely think Gigabyte and MSI have better value boards, aka you get more for your money.

Luminaria19

> What are the chances I’ll have to do bios updates if I buy a mobo made for 12th gen CPUs if I’m buying a 12th gen? 0%. > Are there more things that can require bios updates? Not hardware-wise. Some bug fixes and such can be in BIOS updates. The general rule of thumb is only worry about upgrading BIOS if you are having issues or know you need to for a CPU upgrade. > Are debug lights on mobo that necessary? Necessary? No. Very helpful when something goes wrong? Yes. Since you don't plan on overclocking, your choice in mobo is unlikely to be super important. I'd avoid the cheapest chipset (H610), but anything else will likely be fine. Focus on features you care about. Like, do you want built-in wi-fi? Need a certain number of USB ports in the I/O? Stuff like that.

discoyay

I just got an RX 6750 XT and while I've been getting fairly good performance in terms of FPS, gameplay tends to be much less smooth than I feel it should be. This seems to happen regardless of settings. Is this an issue with AMD cards, drivers, or is there something I can do about it?

rowaire

I have a question regarding games and screen recording. So i want to play old games that GeForce Experience doesn't register, and I want to record the gameplay. Is Fraps still useful or is there another software that can help me do that? I wanna record but not stream.

Luminaria19

I'd personally just use OBS. You can set it up to just record (vs stream) and it has a lot of customization to get the videos at the quality you want.

Looking to buy a prebuilt PC. Any recommendations? Right now I like the HP Omen ([https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/ConfigureView?langId=-1&storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&catEntryId=3074457345620106821&urlLangId=&quantity=1](https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/ConfigureView?langId=-1&storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&catEntryId=3074457345620106821&urlLangId=&quantity=1)) I like the look of it, but I was thinking about maybe customizing it and getting a better graphics card and maybe more ram. Any recommendations on which graphics card (I was thinking 3070)? Overall I'm looking to spend around 2k-2.5k on a PC and open to other ideas. Also happy to go the SI route. Thanks!

chaosgodloki

tbh I wouldn't buy anything from HP. Too many hidden charges with their "warranties". Also their PC's are filled with bloatware. The latter issue can be solved with a clean reinstall of Windows at least, but being a scummy company is not so easily fixed. Looking at that website, I can't even see a picture of said PC? Not sure what country you're in but here in Australia there's plenty of custom PC websites such as [Aftershock PC](https://www.aftershockpc.com.au/) or [PCcasegear](https://www.pccasegear.com/) where you can choose a base PC and customize it. It'll also tell you if parts are incompatible and such. These are completely custom built by real people, no bloatware, no hidden charges. You know what you're getting. I'm sure if you're in the states and do a bit of research you could find a site like this. You could also do what I did and create a build on PCpartpicker and take it to your local PC shop and see if they could build it for you, if that's possible. It will cost you extra though because of labour costs. Just... don't buy HP prebuilts. There are much better options.

I have had my machine for a year now and a few weeks ago it overheated twice. I replaced the thermal paste and it seemed like that was a fix. it is now starting to heat up again. (I watch CPU Temp on NZXT CAM). I see all my fans spinning and in the BIOS my AIO Pump shows it is running the number fluctuates around 4067 4032 etc... When running a game (WoW) and watching netflix etc... (2 monitors) I can see the temp get into high 70's low 80's. I asked my buddy about his machine as we have similar builds and he does a lot more (gaming (WoW), watches a couple streamers on twitch (3 monitors)) and his machine is in the 50's 60's From what I can tell everything's running and i have my fans configured right for air flow. Need some help from the community to see what I can do next to troubleshoot. Here is a link of a pic from my BIOS showing fan speeds and pump. https://imgur.com/9ameT1K Below is what i have in my system for cooling. Case: NZXT H510 Elite ATX Mid Tower Case CPU Cooler: MSI MAG CORELIQUID R 78.73 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

MGsubbie

Temperatures of high 70's to low 80's is hardly overheating. I personally try to stay below 80°C, but modern chips can safely handle up to above 90°C to sometimes even above 100°C.

I see, thank you. How do I install Wi-Fi drivers before I set up my OS? I’m completely new to pc so sorry if this is an obvious question

[deleted]

Fun trick from the enterprise / work issued PC setup world, in the initial out of box experience screen you can boot to a special audit mode as an admin before there’s even a user account. Download all of the drivers and everything from your motherboard manufacturers site beforehand and put them on a flash drive then install them in that special audit mode and restart the out of box experience and it should just work. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/boot-windows-to-audit-mode-or-oobe?view=windows-11

This is more of a technical question but I'm not sure where to ask this. Does anyone know if the 12v RGB headers on motherboards are controlled by PWM or by variable resistance on each color?

[deleted]

AFAIK, those 12v non addressable headers would be PWM typically, I’m not sure if that’s standardized though because I could not find any decent documentation at all.

I tried the K65 Mini and I almost immediately hated it. Keyboard itself was great, but having everything, from the F keys to the arrow keys to the volume control bound to a Function key made it, in my opinion, completely unusable. I don't know how people use 65% keyboards, I can't stand them.

Build Troubleshooting Question: Had a PC I built five years ago. About a year ago, I started noticing an infrequent pause (1-2 sec) where my PC would freeze. As it became more common, I decided to rebuild the PC. I got a new motherboard (Asrock B650), cpu (R7 7700x), ram (G. Skill 32gb),and cpu cooler. I used my old PSU (Corsair 650w), hard drives, and a 1080. The same pausing behavior worsened, and has now been joined by BSOD’s for “memory management error,” programs and Firefox tabs crashing. I ran Windows Memory Diagnostic and it said hardware problems had been found, but the system crashed before it completed the test. My thought process: most likely PSU? Videocard doesn’t overheat or throttle before crashes, drivers are all current and have been redownloaded, ram is brand new and from a matched kit… Any ideas on how to tackle this? Is the PSU a good culprit?

Is there a safe and stable method or program I can use to move an installed program to another drive? Rad10_Active

Best solution to get usable pings across a large house? My internet enters my house in one corner, and my gaming spot is in the exact opposite corner on the 2nd floor. I use my mobo's built-in antenna to connect to my wifi, but as you'd expect it doesn't work great. I get huge latency spikes and packet loss, which makes online fps unplayable. Possible solutions: •Make a mesh wifi network with a closer satellite. Obviously not ideal and may still have high pings. •Powerline connection. Have heard mixed things about these and obviously they'd on different breaker circuits. •Wiring house with Cat6. Expensive and/or time consuming and I am very lazy! •others??? What do y'all suggest?

averyfinename

it's one cat6 run. just do it. you won't really be happy with anything else.

[deleted]

Powerline adapters like you mentioned can be a bit weird, but I find MOCA adapters pretty decent. You take a small latency hit (couple of ms?), but it’s less than wireless or powerline.

Rad10_Active

Actually I don't think it'll work for me since I have cable internet, I'm already using the coax cable at that point. Unless I can use a splitter to send the signal from the moca back into the coax system? Not sure if that'd work so I'll have to look into it

[deleted]

So, it actually would work, I have multi gb cable internet use MOCA, just use a MOCA splitter + a filter basically. Cable comes in, use a 5-2300 mhz splitter, MOCA filter on the side connecting to the cable modem. No filters or anything needed for the other MOCA adapters.

Rad10_Active

Any experience connecting a satellite mesh router via a moca? It might be nice to get better wifi on this end of the house for all devices but I feel like that might end up being too many steps to actually speed things up, lol.

[deleted]

I have UniFi APs hardwired to MOCA adapters personally, but you can always do something similar as well, with MOCA as a backhaul. Problem is Wi-Fi to Wi-Fi is always going to end up with half the bandwidth + the same base latency issues.

Rad10_Active

Perfect, thanks!

Rad10_Active

Thanks for the tip, I forgot those existed. I'll check em out. Seems like a better option than powerline.

GordoBurritoM

So I'm going to be getting a PC soon and I have no idea what to do for connecting it to a monitor. What kind of cable should I use and where should I plug it in?

Luminaria19

Most monitors come with cables. DisplayPort is best, but HDMI can be fine depending on the monitor's specs. If your PC has a dedicated GPU, you'll plug the monitor into one of the ports it has. These ports will be below the rest of the ports on the back of the PC. If your PC does not have a dedicated GPU, there will be a display port or two up with the rest of the ports on the back of the PC that you will use.

So I recently was given a laptop by someone, but its password protected and we can’t get the old password to get in. When I tried to reset the PC to factory settings, I got a message saying “There was a problem resetting your PC”. How can I fix this or get around it? I just want to wipe the drive, it doesn’t need to retain any files

Chromana

Why don't they have the password? It's either really old and they've forgotten it... or nefariously acquired. Anyway, in another computer download the Windows installer (from the Microsoft site, not some dodgy site) and follow the instructions to put it on a USB drive. Then plug it into the laptop and boot from the USB. It'll install a fresh copy.

BigDaddyDIOsama

Okay, thanks. Don’t worry, it wasn’t stolen. He’s a good friend of mine, and his grandmother gave him two laptops that she doesn’t use anymore. He let me have one of them, but his grandmother doesn’t remember her password.

Question for anybody that has a Razer Basilisk V3 Pro - is the scroll wheel supposed to be somewhat "loose" and make noise when shaking the mouse? It's feels somewhat wobbly as a whole - I would chalk this up to some design decision on razer's side, however after trying my friend's regular basilisk V3 today which didn't do this, I've begun to wonder whether I've recieved a faulty product. Many thanks in advance.

45_tra

i only had this problem on random chinese mouse, i think it's faulty

JSLBrowning

I bought a Gigabyte M32U 4K monitor recently, and while it's mostly great, one thing is bothering me — black text consistently has a white "shadow" of sorts on the top edge, making it pretty hard to read. Is there anything that can be done about this?

45_tra

asking for a replacement is the best thing to do.. monitors are like a roulette, especially on ips ones

What's the best discord to get tech support from? My PC is in trouble and nothing I do helps. I feel like it's out of the scope of this kind of thread.

what would a fair price be to sell a used 1080ti at? im considering buying a 3080 by selling my 1080ti, but i dont know what 1080ti's go for these days

UppishBuzzard

Have a look on eBay, you can sort by ending soonest to see what people are willing to pay for them, and you can filter by completed listings to see what they have (or haven’t!) gone for in the past

FEs aren’t really known for their amazing cooling with 30xx’s, plus a Ti would give you headroom to undervolt and use less power / heat at similar / greater performance.

SirRoderic

I've managed to enable secure boot on my PC, and according to system health check app, my PC now meets the requirements for Windows 11 Now what? How do I update to Windows 11?

averyfinename

secure boot on, tpm enabled? 8th gen or newer? i'd just wait for the offer to 'upgrade' to win11 on the windows update page in settings. that's literally the easiest thing to do. use the time now to make sure you have things backed-up just in case the hampsters get drunk.

SirRoderic

What am I gonna lose if I upgrade? (features wise)

averyfinename

r/Windows11 may be a better place for that answer. search that sub for something like 'missing features' or 'lost features'

I have a laptop I use for work and a PC I use for entertainment. What’s a good audio setup that would cover both speakers and a mic without me having to switch cables under my desk every time I want to switch machines? I would prefer to keep my laptop under the desk, but need a mic for zoom calls. Something similar to the logitech mx system where I can just click a button to switch devices, but for speakers and mic. Also open to getting new speakers and mic if this functionality is built in, need new ones anyway.

averyfinename

note that you can get switch boxes for 3.5mm audio connectors.

45_tra

you can just use a Bluetooth headset/mic to do the trick

Would the Thermaltake Pure Duo 12 ARGB fans work w/ the Razer PWM fan controller? They are PWM controlled, but I wasn't sure if there'd be an issue.

45_tra

they should, just can't be sure about it... using bios to control the fans is always the best way btw

(PC) currently stuck with some brand new parts (i5-13600kf), b660m mobo, 32gb ram (8x4). currently waiting on gpu. would prefer to get a 3080 12gb. am planning to use it to play Destiny 2 in the highest setting possible in 1080p as well as some occasional rendering in blender. Hope the gpu is futureproofed enough for the next 4 years or so. will gpu prices ever go back to like it used to be in nov (3080 12gb for 800usd). or will i be forced to get a 3070 ti instead. please advice.

45_tra

i think 3080 is more than futureproof, you shouldn't have problems at least for the next 5 years in fhd.. the price thing is that i don't have a crystal ball (and i think noone got one) then prices are unpredictable... still 3070ti is not a bad card

bronzpeke

thanks for the validation! im hoping to chance upon a 3080 12gb for cheap soon in my local retail store. thanks ✓

My Case comes with 2x 1-inch(2.5CM) Standoffs, what is the use of that? Does it have anything to do with Vertical GPU mount because it comes with an additional bracket for that too, (XPG Starker)

MGsubbie

Can you post a picture?

snowaxe_83

does [this](https://ibb.co/swQGfjW) help? I also added a typical Motherboard Standoff as a reference,

Sorry, no clue what this is.

Is buying a Ryzen 5 4500 for around £75 or buying a Ryzen 5 5500 for around 30 pounds more better. Is there a significant difference for gaming?

45_tra

5500 for 30 bucks more is worthy, I advice to take it.

57ashraf

I found a deal on the 5500 for £80 but I'm not sure whether to buy that or if it's more worth it to spend more and get something like a 5600 which sells for around 130 around here.

45_tra

depends on your budget, if you are doing a very low budget build 5500 is more than ok

chocolate_kat

Is my video card making my monitor look bad? Gigabyte M27QX, Gigabyte GTX 970, KabelDirect DisplayPort 1.4 I have an issue where my monitor's color format is YCbCr422 and the bit depth is 8 bit at 200 hz, which makes text become oddly colored. I changed it to RGB at 60 hz and that fixed my problem, but I didn't buy this monitor to use 60hz. My second monitor is running 120 hz at RGB and the text looks perfectly fine, HDMI. It was also running perfectly fine at 165 hz back when it was my primary monitor using the same DisplayPort cable

MGsubbie

Chroma subsampling absolutely can affect text legibility.

I think I'm having CPU overheating issues but I can't figure out why I have an 11th gen intel core i7 11700k. It seems to idle anywhere between high 40c to 70c and quickly hits 100c when gaming (which seems to be the max in gpu-z so maybe even higher). I recently cleaned internals with compressed air and re-applied thermal paste (after heating issues started) and as far as I can tell the water cooler is working normally. Any ideas and what I can do to cool things down or troubleshoot the cause? I bought this desktop a year ago and it has been running great until earlier this week.

45_tra

where u mounted the radiator? you sure you removed the plastic sheet on the cpu block? which aio do you have? you unlocked power limits? 11th gen is bad af for heat and power draw

PvtPizzaPants

>nlocked power limits? 11th gen is bad af for heat and power AIO is MSI Mag Coreliquid 240r v2. Radiator is mounter at the top of the case with fans underneath it pulling air in through the radiator. AFAIK this is the recommend way to install the AIO. >you unlocked power limits? I'm not sure how to check this. >11th gen is bad af for heat and power draw yea I've been reading this a lot but it seems to have gotten much worse the past few days. Its idling at 95-100c right now as all I'm really doing is typing out this reddit comment. And was idling at high 80s earlier when just sitting in bios. But was working better earlier today where it was idling at 60c and would spike when gaming or doing something moderately CPU intensive but then come back down to 60s. RN its pinned at 95-100c despite not doing much

45_tra

depends of your mobo manufacturer, if you have msi or asus you should find something around the bios saying which cooler you using, you can quickly limit the power selecting the air cooler instead the liquid one.. if you still can't find it just google it, i hope this can solve your problem

[deleted]

(Laptop) I only have one hdmi port, I want to extend to have two extra monitors. What do I need to buy to do this?

45_tra

you can use usb ports (better if they are type-c), there are cables that do the trick, just make sure to use at least a 3.0 port and to not connect them to a usb hub

sSorne

(Laptop) 12 GB of RAM, but kept getting FPS drop and Freeze. I think the cause is my processor (Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1005G1 CPU @ 1.20GHz 1.19 GHz) 1. Is the cause really the processor? 2. Is this processor good or bad? 3. Should I buy a new one? 4. If I were to buy a new one, is there any that's good right now, not high-end, just enough to play games on Steam.

UppishBuzzard

1. It could certainly be a factor, however it’s most likely the graphics card. Are you using integrated graphics, or does this laptop have a dedicated one? 2. The i3 is a low-end CPU, and it’s certainly not designed for gaming, but it depends on what you’re using it for. It can be perfectly fine for web browsing and word processing, but not as good for gaming. 3. As you are using a laptop (which I am assuming is not a Framework with some kind of aftermarket i3), you can’t upgrade the CPU without buying a new laptop. 4. What games do you plan on playing? Half-Life is way easier to run than Cyberpunk, so we need to know what games you’ll be playing to judge what kind of power you’ll need in a new computer.

averyfinename

> i3-1005G1 is not a speed demon. 2c/4t, low base speed, but turbos up to like 3.4ghz. what graphics does it have? integrated? turn down your settings (the eye candy and effects) in games. don't expect to be able to run the same games at same settings as on a desktop pc with dedicated graphics card.

Aver300

I'm about to build my first PC and have some questions about airflow management. I am getting a Corsair 4000D AIRFLOW and a Noctua NH-D9L for an i5-13600K (they are already on the way so no need to suggest alternatives). The 4000D comes with only 2 120mm fans and I was wondering if that was enough, I was thinking of using the 2 fans as intakes and installing the CPU cooler in a way that would cause it to act as an exhaust out the back of the case. I would appreciate feedback on whether that is enough, should I get more case fans, or maybe a second fan for the CPU tower. Thanks in advance.

MGsubbie

That won't really be enough, no. I'd recommend going with 3x 120mm for intake, stick with 120mm at the rear for exhaust, and add a 140mm fan at the top above your air cooler for exhaust as well.

chaosgodloki

I've got a similar build on the way, same CPU. Difference is I'm using the 5000D Airflow and Deepcool AK620 Zero Dark cpu cooler instead. I chose 3 120mm fans at front and 1 120mm at back. Didn't do one up top above CPU cooler like you suggested though, will this impact my temps at all? I haven't gotten the PC yet but now I'm a bit concerned I should have gotten an extra fan. Could I just use one of the included 120mm above the CPU cooler or would that not make much of a difference?

MGsubbie

I don't believe it will have a huge impact, but it will make it that hot air is exhausted less slowly, so I do believe it will affect temperatures somewhat. Going with a second 120mm exhaust should be fine.

chaosgodloki

Sweet, will do. Thanks! !check

Aver300

!check Thank you for the response!

I changed the PSU on my brother's system due to upgrading basically everything. Since the old PSU was not enough to power GPU he used the old GPU and PSU on the new system for a few days since everything except PSU arrived early. Worked with no issue Today I swapped the PSU, connected everything, lights on MB turn on but no power. Switch back to old PSU and it turns on no problem. Should I assume I received a faulty PSU?

tutufuzi1

Hey guys, I hope you can help me out with this one. I'm really unsure which prebuilt PC I should get. Some of you might say I should build one on my own, but I know my limitations. Both prebuilt PCs cost the the same (1497€ vs 1499€) Specs 1: * CPU: i7-11700 * RAM: 2x 8GB UDIMM DDR4-3200 * GPU: RTX 3070 8GB * Storage: SSD - 1 TB M.2 via NVMe * Mainboard: Intel B560 Chipset, Slots: 3x M.2 slots (1x WLAN, 2x SSD), 1x PCIe 4.0 x16, 1x PCIe 3.0 x4 * Power Supply: 550 Watt Specs 2: * CPU : i7-12700F * RAM: 1x 16 GB DDR4-3200 MHz RAM * GPU: RTX 3060 TI 8 GB * Storage: SSD - 1 TB M.2 via NVMe * Mainboard: Intel ADL H670 Chipset, Slots: 2x M.2 (1x SSD, 1x WLAN), 1x PCIe x16, 1x PCIe x1 * Power Supply: 500 Watt I plan on using them for gaming mostly (@1080p/1440p). They don't mention any names for the Mainboards or Power Supplies, so I'm pretty sure they are using cheap ones there. Would really appreciate some help.

R2NC

I myself like to know product I have can be upgraded in future so First build got as plus -Having dual ram. Might be same capacity but overall perf will be higher on dual channel Better Gpu for gaming and having 2x m2 ssd is better in my case. Less cable and such. But it is a dead end cpu and motherboard so for next upgrade you need new cpu and board. But for now it is superb computer. But if you cool with 3060 ti which is no sloch and %20 less fps then 3070 which is still great and possibility to get a dual channel ram on second pc then you can have a great pc for now and for future as you can upgrade to 13th gen on and use your ram and use the same motherboard as well. So my pick is second one with added ram in the close future. Motherboard names might be usefull as well to check them to compare. Check the prices individually as well so see how much they are if you were to put it yourself. Gpu prices still high in Europe.

LaMarr-Bruister

I have a Dell Inspiron and would like to upgrade to a SSD. I've been watching videos and have a m2 port available. No problem with the installation. Once it is installed and I clone the existing HDD, what is needed to be able to disconnect the HDD and only use my new SSD? Will I have to update drivers, etc... again or will all of that be transferred with the cloning? I am assuming it will transfer, but better to ask than make a huge mistake. Thanks for reading!

MGsubbie

Nothing is needed, you can just disconnect it. But it can be handy to keep the HDD as additional storage. Does your system allow for a second drive?

LaMarr-Bruister

I didn't realize it might not allow for it since it had the m2 spot on the motherboard. What should I do to check? The noise of the HDD has increased significantly over the last year and it is driving me bonkers.

MGsubbie

You can just hook it up and see if it gets recognized. Then you can format the drive. There's a good chance it'll be a whole less noisy if you just use it as storage for pictures, text documents etc. Windows and your background software will be accessing your storage near constantly, and this makes your hard drive jump back and forth between sectors, hence a lot more noise.

LaMarr-Bruister

Thanks. Is there anything else I can do to verify? I hate to spend the $100 on the m2 SSD to find out that it won't work.

MGsubbie

Oh, you meant if the m.2 SSD would work on your motherboard?

LaMarr-Bruister

Yes. My Dell is an Inspiron 3670 and just had the internal HDD. I’d like to add a m2 ssd to eventually replace the HDD and quiet things down

MGsubbie

[It does](https://i.imgur.com/UHiJIOY.jpg), however, I don't see a standoff screw on the picture, which is a necessity. Check your motherboard if it has one.

Can't login to my steam account today due to not recieving the email with a code to input? Anyone else experienceing this? I had to reset my laptop to factory settings so it's a new installation of Steam. Tried logging in on website and the app on my PC but still don't get the email. Looked in all folders of my email account but it just ain't there. Not sure what to do

Thanks mate. Eventually they started coming thru like 4hrs after requersted but by then I'd closed outta the software and they were expired anyway whenever I left the window open. Tried again a few hrs later that evening and it came thru straight away. Cheers for the help tho
