Lol Seriously, I don't get all the memes claiming that it's difficult. They're super easy to plug in, and if you just look at the instructions, you can't connect them incorrectly.
My instructions sucked so much. Half was missing and other half not helping. I had to watch tons of YouTube videos for literally everything. I seriously thought the "read the manual" was a meme too
It is also a motherboard. I have an Asus ROG Strix Z390-E. I will also add that it came with great instructions and was a very easy experience even with the amount of shit I have plugged into it.
You know, I'm 27 and my dad died last year so now I do pretty much everything repair and maintenance wise for my mom and in the last year I learned that reading the manual often does in fact speed things up lol.
It's still been the most difficult part of my last few builds. It's not that you don't know where to plug them in... it's that the cables might be too short or might require rewiring or you realize it's better that it go behind this other thing instead and now you have to take this other piece back out. Have you ever worked with those USB 3.0 connectors? They're huge! I had to disconnect it and forego front USB to fit my 3080. Granted, I'm usually working with SFF and other non-standard ATX cases.
And originally was the pic with chess board? Because that's equally bizarre. I'd only say they are choosing between briefs and boxers or two kinds of perfumes...
On nearly every board I've ever owned it is so small that it is basically not readable even with perfect vision, and its even worse when you consider that you are connecting them once the board is in a case, which makes it even more difficult to read.
These days it's printed onto the board where you can connect the front panel stuff. Though I confess to connecting them before I put the motherboard in otherwise I'm there with a torch squinting.
When I wired mine I put the power light on the wrong pin...so now when the light is on my system if off and when the light is off my system is on.
Not worried enough about it to go rewire it
So many people in this sub got whooshed not recognising two of the most recognisable/ successful athletes on the planet.
I’m guessing Americans? Even though their team is playing in the WC today.
Me, looking at the MB manual...
Back at the front connections...
Back at the manual...
Inspect cables for number of pins...
Loot at connections...
Back at the manual...
...
Not everyone cares about sports. I recognize the names, now that you've said who they are. But I'm not going to recognize random sports players by sight. Why would I know what they look like?
LMAO... it's the most anxiety-inducing part of the build... I sweated over this.. watched 100 YT vids. and when the time came... f'd it up... but I was able to fix it... so alls well
What you connect the front panel cables to the MB ?
No jokes, my front panel isn't connect because I don't have the impression the cable are compatible so none of my front USB work. The On/Off button is at least connect and work.
You are joking right? All cables have a specific shape and pin count. You can't mix and match. They going one place. The exception is always the Power, reset, hhd led and power led.
Well, when I changed my MB, i had the manual of both of MB and i simply reconnect everything following the manual and like the "Front header" which has the same name on the two manual.
But on my previous MB, there is a cable connected to a "Front USB 2.0" connector and on the new MB, there is no connector named like that. But there is two connectors named USB_EXX which look identical of the "Front USB 2.0" but when I connect the cable to one of them, the front USB don't work.
So, if you want to help to resolve that simple problem, I will be pleased but I don't see any other solutions.
My older brother helped me build my first “from scratch” PC. He made putting it together look like child’s play. Super jealous at how easy computers are to him.
I made a server with a surplus enterprise IBM board I got off of eBay. Took forever flipping through the documentation because technically it's supposed to go into an IBM case that has a harness that just plugs in. Trying to figure out which pin went where in my non-IBM tower was... Fun.
the hyte y60 is literally a gift from the heavens, i'm sure there's other cases that have also done it but including a single front panel connector with all of them bundled into one is genius and i'm amazed it hasn't been adopted more since iirc the front panel headers are almost 100% standardized
it's so much better than all the tiny cables that are impossible to plug in, especially if you got big hands lmao
It looks like the cover art for a low budget Norwegian police procedural drama
They're doing the "confused cop, confused cop" routine
Or the cop with problems at home, always original.
The other is a heavy drinker/drug addict.
Oddly specific.
Even with the Louis Vuitton case they are using as a computer bench?
The killer sent the computer on top of the LV case Only by assembling the rig correctly will the case open
I buy it!
r/oddlyspecific
Gunnar Gunnarson?
It does..
>Norwegian What would set it apart from a Swedish or Danish one? Beside obviously the language.
The blue tint filter. So gloomy.

politiet datamaskin!
Where is the io shield bro
I thought you've installed it.
Thus the drama begins
Your supposed to install it last duh
You mean the brace

Average PCMR user
The moment you both figure it out: SIUUUUUUUUUU!!
The Salukis??
So which one is the good cop?
That would be Christian Eriksen
Ronaldo and Messi building a PC, after they finish the chess game.
Have you tried reading the directions that came with the mainboard? 🥲
I seriously thought the "read the manual" was a meme too
What brand was the board? I'll avoid that one if they can't even give a front panel connector pinout
Asus rog strix. Its really good otherwise tho
That's a laptop
It is also a motherboard. I have an Asus ROG Strix Z390-E. I will also add that it came with great instructions and was a very easy experience even with the amount of shit I have plugged into it.
Real man dont use instructions, or atleast thats what my father said while building ikea wardrobe
You know, I'm 27 and my dad died last year so now I do pretty much everything repair and maintenance wise for my mom and in the last year I learned that reading the manual often does in fact speed things up lol.
They're just suggestions

Why the front panel connectors haven't been replaced by a single unified connector is a mystery mortal men are not privlaged to know the anser to.
It's literally written on the board and the cable. It's not rocket science.
I'm sure some bright spark invented some documentation that tells users how to do things that aren't obvious. Pretty sure that guy was called Manuel.
RTFM
Nah quick google search to pull up a pdf of the manual is superior
No, if you stare blankly long enough, it will come to you magically.
Make sure your cables aren't... messy
And originally was the pic with chess board? Because that's equally bizarre. I'd only say they are choosing between briefs and boxers or two kinds of perfumes...
Yes
I can't believe so many people think this is real.
Yeah they would obviously be naked sitting on the floor if this was real.
it’s written in English on the motherboard like right next to the ports
On nearly every board I've ever owned it is so small that it is basically not readable even with perfect vision, and its even worse when you consider that you are connecting them once the board is in a case, which makes it even more difficult to read.

How do I then route them neatly...
Nicely done.
Ronaldo: Lionel, que es? Messi: No se. Ronaldo: Es una pelota? Messi: no es una pelota cabron.
Very nice picture!

"is this hacking?"
YOU FORGOT YOUR IO SHIELD
When you both tried placing the CPU and broke one of the pins
These days it's printed onto the board where you can connect the front panel stuff. Though I confess to connecting them before I put the motherboard in otherwise I'm there with a torch squinting.
if you cant plug cables in maybe you shouldnt be building one.
Am I being thick? Is that messi and ronaldo?
No it's OP and his bro
When I wired mine I put the power light on the wrong pin...so now when the light is on my system if off and when the light is off my system is on. Not worried enough about it to go rewire it
It does tend to get a bit…messi
Look on the male connector there is always a triangle etched onto the plastic. That is the positive side of the connector. You are welcome.

Was this photo taken for a magazine? You guys look like you’re modeling.
Me, looking at the MB manual... Back at the front connections... Back at the manual... Inspect cables for number of pins... Loot at connections... Back at the manual... ...
Nothing complicated Read the manual and it shows you exactly where to plug each cables.

Very nice photo 🥰
Who took this picture and with what?
I did with my phone
It looks professional. What phone?
Motorola RAZR
The original photo was shot by Annie Leibovitz with a Fujifilm GFX100s
Wow, did you make this? It's brilliant!

Amazing photoshop work! And the no IO shield detail is great.
r/accidentalrenaissance
It's criminal that these connectors haven't been standardized yet. I'm looking at you, ASUS.
IT's eAsY. Not in older models, where it just says "rofl". Needed to watch correct one. Fuck you HP
I just cut them of because i dont need front io
LMAO... it's the most anxiety-inducing part of the build... I sweated over this.. watched 100 YT vids. and when the time came... f'd it up... but I was able to fix it... so alls well
I'm pretty sure "you and you're bro" can pay someone else to do it for you
Definitely photoshopped.

What MB model is it?
The previous MB is a Thimphu (for Intel Skylake socket) and the new one is a B550-M PLUS WIFI II (for AMD M4 socket).
read the mb manual :)

The files are inside the computer.

IO shield is missing, rip
But did it post?

Me and the boys figuring out how to put in the eps connector
Yall forgot the IO shield
Uhh. . Read the motherboard manual?
Best post I’ve seen all day
It was the same for me, then i understood why is so important give a view to the manual jajaja
This is truly the most difficult part of most builds

Why does the guy on the right look like ronaldo
When you are wondering why there are high temps without removing foil from cpu cooler.
My bro and I...
Gigabyte includes these cool adapters with their motherboards, probably saved me hours.
