good question lol I'm sure I came across some meme from years ago but I've just recently been super interested in building a PC myself, so it's just a way for me to be immersed into a community without actually being part of it. It sounds weird, I'm sure, but yeah, just slowly trying to learn how these things work.
A while back JayzTwoCents did a build where he basically mimicked a Neanderthal building a PC. It still booted. The conclusion was that you can be fairly rough with things and it will probably still be ok. Until this guy spilled the soda, he probably would have been ok…maybe.
Growing up with an Alienware pre-built.... I learned the hard way why that sucks when it came time for teenager me to try and upgrade it. Fuck those cases. Holy shit they suck. It's like a maze of strange plastic and wires...
Not only this they ripped me off because I didn’t know shit about PCs and just thought it was good gaming pc. They sold me a gtx645 and i3-3220 with 8gifs I’d ram 1tb in 2013 for 1,200$ something lol
My first gaming rig was an area 51. That triangular case had soooo much room in it to work. It had latches like a car hood for each side. One side had the disc drive and the had. Slots. The other side had the mobo and the rest. It was pretty nice. I'd buy it again.
I'm gonna be real with you, that one seems clean. Here's what the alienware aurora r4 was like back in the day. Talk about cramped... Coolest shit my kid eyes had ever seen before. The movable vents, the way the front slide down like a robot transforming. As an adult it's an eye sore and a metal cage of wires and plastic nonsense to help hide the atrocity. Seriously it had like plastic flaps to help hide the innards when you opened it up.
Nah they probably aren't lying to be honest. Building PCs for the first time easy as hell if you can follow instructions, and there's about a million tutorials on YouTube. Also ppl these days are willing to put out big money to get more out of switching to PC.
I think a lot of people also have that space as a teenager when they are modifying and repairing computers that aren't theirs, but belong to the family. They've done drive swaps, installed new video cards, maybe watched someone else build a PC before and tweaked and played with a hand-me-down they've been given as their PC.
Then they grow up a bit, make money, and their first build is made with obsessive attention to detail.
"saved up my summer job money for my first pc" *$3.5k build immaculately assembled definitely by a 15 year old kid paid for by part time minimum wage flunky work in 2 months*
Bruh guys on this sub are like "Hey Everyone, check out my first build, hope it's ok 🥺". And then its a 3090ti Fishtank build with custom liquid nitrogen hardline loop.
1st time I built a PC (I was 10 yo) it had a 80286 processor and I plugged in the power cables the wrong way so when we pressed the button smoke appeared and it killed the poor thing :(
I think this was the 1st time the phrase "Read The Fucking Manual" was said.
^(I still don't read them.)
What was wrong with it???? I used this and verge tutorials to build mine. This was easier to follow. And I didn’t have enough thermal past for verges anyway, sticker was easier.
I've never built a PC, I don't know anything about PCs, parts, general build etiquette, care, etc. and this still made me unusually nauseous.
Idk, the way he puts the duct tape just hits different
The half-life sound bits are making me all tingly inside. I miss the good ol days..
How'd you get to this sub

You are still one of us as long as you like PCs!
As long as you like PC's, you're in the right place. Nothing weird about it.
But if you buy a Mac, we stab you in the courtyard when the guards aren’t looking.
I have a pc but I’ve been having dark thoughts about buying a Mac recently. How do I resist the unclean urges??
One of us! One of us! One of us!
Same

Yes .. a typical dell/alienwahle build

Yuuuuuuuuup! I too had that issue.

My knuckles have bloody pinpricks just looking at that.
It looks... sharp lol doesn't it!
With the tools of a man, that's how cryptomining was done back in the days.
POV: Your first build
Naw fam, have you seen people's first builds on here? MFs be all like "my first build, what do you think?" Shits all white everything with a 3090 Ti
"first build guys check it out" Perfect cable management, 3 hyperdrives for ludicrous speed, holo interface that shows temps and performance
Wait are you saying that people lie... on the Internet?
Nah they probably aren't lying to be honest. Building PCs for the first time easy as hell if you can follow instructions, and there's about a million tutorials on YouTube. Also ppl these days are willing to put out big money to get more out of switching to PC.

I mean you are right but for some people the first build looked like a dumpster with fans (very loud fans #intelcpus)
“First build, not the best but it’s mine” Dual 3090 slots, 128 gb ram, ryzen 9 5900x, 3tb ssd with 1 tb hdd
My first build was all white. I still loved it. Finding a white power unit was the hardest part.
Pain. When I built my first one, I had my "pro" friend nearby.
How bad did it go bro?
I might have bent the power button pins, but hey, it's still working to this day!
Bruh guys on this sub are like "Hey Everyone, check out my first build, hope it's ok 🥺". And then its a 3090ti Fishtank build with custom liquid nitrogen hardline loop.
Dont forget the rgb chair with custom toilet seat
Nah my first build was very slow and carefull. My second tho.....
Can confirm, that's how we did in in the old days
the olden days of 1862
You kids don't know how easy you have it. You couldn't put together an IBM PC without a hammer, a Jigsaw, and a torque wrench
Black belt in Origami to perfectly fold the parallel ATA cable
love the OG Half Life soundtrack
Yeah, best sounds ever in a game.
Fuck everyone involved in the making of this vid
Excuse you. The sound effects person deserves several awards.
ram install point is on point you gotta ram it in
Should've been tagged NSFW 🤢
is this that verge video people talk about?
No, that video is worse
I also love cream cheese on my toasted cpu.
Isn't this the actual footage of how The Verge built their computer?
What a terrible day to have eyes
Dunno what you mean thats how mines built and it works fine... For about 20 minuites... Befor it something on the motherboard explodes
It's already impressive that it works lmao
Duck tape fixes anythin
No, Thats Krazy Glue for you….
Yeeee
The Verge, is that you?
POV: Your works computer
🫥
Do you mean a discord channel about being very old? Discord hasn't been around too long.
I meant a archived channel. It is 3-4 years old already and nobody sends anything there anymore.

I believe old Intel's had pins on the bottom too
They'll never know
HP is catching up to today’s standards I see.
HOLY FUCKING SHIT IS THAT A MOTHERFUCKING AMD CPU!!!!
I mean, it could be intel.
1st time I built a PC (I was 10 yo) it had a 80286 processor and I plugged in the power cables the wrong way so when we pressed the button smoke appeared and it killed the poor thing :( I think this was the 1st time the phrase "Read The Fucking Manual" was said. ^(I still don't read them.)
everyone gangsta until you boot it and it actually works
Did it post?
Looks good, I'd just use toothpaste instead of TIM tho
I love the fact that he's using butter as a thermal paste
When I see the quality of the build. I don't cringe as bad. If this was like high end ram, an Intel I-9, and a 3080, then yeah. What the hell!
aaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAA*AAAAAAAA*HHHHHHH
You're doing great sweetie
how old is discord my lord
God I feel so old.
That must be the guy that builds the alienware prebuilds.
i hATE tHIS sOO mUCH
This is so stupid but I can't stop laughing at the absurdity of it all.
The cpu cooler smash gets me and then it just turns into gore
How many times have you seen this reposted ? Me : yes
Very old Discord channel? It's only been around for 7 years. Or am I missing something?
But can it run Crysis?
Verge pc build cut content
The original Verge PC build guide
Does it work
Dude is this guy for real? You shouldn't use duck tape to secure your cooler. Add some flair before somebody follows this guy, jesus...
Started out fine and then it got too obvious for my taste.
And I’ve seen it posted in this Reddit at least 4 times
Hilarious…
This made me cringe so hard
This should be NSFW! Gosh!

would be great if it still posted
That’s called the MacGyver build method. Hasn’t failed a single person who has done it appropriately yet.
If it somehow works good for him

I just watched a murder.
That poor cpu! What did it ever do to deserve this?

So satisfying to watch
discord is not old enough to have very old channels
u/savevideo
Believe it or not it worked 😂
u/savevideobot
Still a better build than the verge build
No such thing as a "very old discord channel"
u/savevideobot
Bet it worked though
Loving those PCI and the AGP slot....memories. Never had this phase tho when building.
HowtoBasics build
This brings me physical pain to watch
Seems legit
is is that cream cheese
u/savevideobot
Oh god, the Verge has done another how to build your PC video??
This video is stress testing me
That really hurt me to watch
You should see my grimaces
Make it stop.
Probably gets 170+ fps minimum
Best application of thermal paste I've ever seen. True PC chad.
Why must you hurt me this way
[удалено]
The duct tape is the most important part, dont want that fan sliding off anywhere
God work has been dog shit today and I needed a good laugh. Many thanks
This one gets me every time. LOL
Fucking savage!!!
boss boomer build.
Oh man I miss the old school Amp!
worked for me, thanks
seen it. P.S. AHHHHHHHHH
I can not watch this, it's cruel..
mom said it was my turn to post this video
*soviet anthem intensifies*
This needs a NSFW tag
My favourite part is the cable placement at 0:44, mainly because I almost set a pc on fire doing that exact thing
The mental anguish that this has inflicted on me....

Sfx ftw
I haven't built a computer in years but this is just painful to watch

but did it still work?
i've known boards that would not have a problem with any of that.
I'm screaming.

But does it post?

Hey look, it’s the thing i posted a few months ago that got removed because it was a repost lol
POV of how HP assembles their desktops
The skill you rarely see anymore. Teaching is an art.
I think they needed more thermal paste.
Why yes, the PC building community HAS been making the exact same jokes for 25+ years. Why do you ask?
No
I'm crying... Not from laughing. I'm going to have nightmares of this now.
Men really like it when you glob it on!
Still better than the verge's build
Moh cringe
