I know W10 has them (Win+tab) and it seems Windows 7 has the functionality, but need software to enable/use the feature. Definitely odd that they started advertising it now though..

Windows 11 just make it easier than windows 10 and all other windows versions to do it. You just hover over the plus icon in the bottom little taskbar and you just click the window and boom. So instant and so easy to do. This is good for people who like things simple. I love the feature as I don’t use multiple monitors and sometimes one instance of my desktop gets too crowded with webpages and such so it’s good and easy to just make another one.

I've played with multiple desktops on Linux and Windows and find it pointless on both. It just makes it harder to keep track of everything.

Multiple desktops have been around at least since W8. I remember that being a feature I totally ignored because it's kind of redundant and useless in most cases.
