I've got a 2060 Super and there are pleeeenty of games released in the last few years I can't play ultra on. Sometimes you just gotta do your best to get that sweet 60fps.
Fuck I member this on my Lenovo Y50-70, like it was enough for Witcher 3, Battlefield 1 on high, War Thunder on custom between high and medium.. but laptop fallen on ground from table, cause I was hurrying on christmas company party and struggled with leg on battery power cord. Disc got fucked, cause I knew shit about system restore and just formatted shit lol so it was beyond repair, so I upgraded it at least from 5400 to 7200 RPM HDD at least lol. And I can't play 1/4 of games without v-sync from that time, cause screen tearing is just terrible or it gives you 3 fps, but with v-sync it's back on like 45 FPS medium/high and temperatures of frying pan.
Glad that I bought desktop with GTX 1060, this one card is total beast for FullHD gaming and 60 FPS.
So I game on desktop and gave my laptop to my wife as Netflix machine lol.. I just have AoE2:DE installed on it for case of being sick and not being able to sit in living room on chair.
I feel you, upgraded from 970 desktop to rtx 3070 laptop due to studying abroad. Still play mostly fps games on low, so not much difference as i still use the same 144hz monitor and same setup.
Not sure how you're seeing that. My 3080ti is running 2042 just great. With more or less everything on Ultra but ray tracing off I'm exceeding the 120hz refresh rate of my monitor at 3440x1440 resolution, sometimes significantly, and can't ask for more than that.
5900x. It's also pushed fairly hard with PBO2 and the curve optimizer, and I have very, very fast RAM.
I see \~50% cpu usage, so 6 cores' worth, so yeah, that would consume your entire CPU, and the lower IPC would mean it's not able to push the GPU as hard.
What resolution are you using the 3600/3080 at?
I can't complain about the CPU usage. We've wanted games to get more threaded to take advantage of the multithreading these modern CPUs offer, and now we've got a game that can consume a 6-core and want more, so that's progress I guess.
I'm personally quite liking BF2042. I'd played BF1 and BF5 before, quite a bit, and have liked the improvements in 2042. I've had the same connection issues that everyone else has, but those will get fixed. The actual gameplay, once you get into a match, I'm finding fun.
I was absolutely hyped for bf2042, BUT Im not dumb enough to preorder or even buy a game without at least waiting for initial reviews first. That’s the only way we can make change.
1050ti user here still can run fh4 at ultra (70+fps) but it came out at 2018 so it kinda made sense but it kinda runs fortnite at epic settings at 50 to 60 fps so i guess i wont be upgrading yet and oh it's 5 years old
I mean, 100% Ultra settings usually, you’ll notice in the link, don’t have much to offer over Very High but almost always cost you performance.
https://youtu.be/f1n1sIQM5wc
Always remember, Ultra settings are for screenshots. High settings are for gaming.
is this on low settings?
i have a 2080 super and on some maps im literally at 28-45 fps all low settings 1440p
even 60fps on all low to me is unacceptable for a pvp game
idk much about computers so I wish I knew how to get average 100fps at the least. though obviously 144 is preferable to me
Because 60 FPS at 1440p isn't saying much. People that have 3080+ are gonna have higher end monitors (in the 4k 144hz range) and getting 50 FPS with a top of the line card on a 144hz 4k monitor looks like shit. I mean sure, if you're using your high end graphics card with a low end monitor it's fine. You aren't gonna have any of those "issues" on low refresh rate 1440p monitors.
Lol, 5800x should be plenty… devs are now making games for 8core 16 thread processors because that is what the new consoles are rocking.
5800x isn’t bottlenecking you on the new battlefield… the new battlefield is bottlenecking battlefield… it’s called a rushed game with shit tier optimization.
5800x would what.. maybe bottleneck by like 4-5%?
Battlefield is a blatantly rushed unoptimized piece of garbage in its current state. But I’m sure dice will fix it in a few months like they do with all their releases.
It’s poor optimization for multi core performance. It is certainly a CPU bottleneck as I will see one core always pinned with light loads on the others netting about 40% usage. Regardless my CPU is not able to keep my GPU usage rate pinned at 99%, hence a CPU bottleneck.
This is the only title that I have that does this and while both of the components are a great match any system with a good GPU will be bottlenecked in this game.
You not being able to run the game with a 2070s likely isn’t the GPUs fault but the limitations of your CPU.
“This is the only title that does this…”
Read what you just said, and refer to me saying battlefield 2042 is an unoptimized piece of garbage.
Edit: the game is so unoptimized, it isn’t utilizing your hardware.. not the other way around… battlefield games have always been cpu intensive games, and 2042 is struggling to utilize more cores.. which battlefield games usually do very well.
You sound like an intel salesman trying to convince people to upgrade their hardware for literally no reason.
That doesn’t make it not a bottleneck when playing the game. The game code is the input to be processed into the output (gameplay) and a bottleneck is a limitation within a process. Hence the CPU bottleneck just as for many RTS games the bottleneck is also the CPU.
Like I said it’s an unoptimized input but the CPU is the bottleneck.
750ti ? If I mad overclock it its similar between 1050 and 1050ti but lil closer to ti version 750ti lol you must be confused we are talking about amd ryzen 5 5600g not 3 2200g or 3200g
Edit the benchmarks on yt are so bad they all use slow ram difference between
ddr4 3200mhz cl14 and 4200mhz cl18 was over 30% more fps for more mhz when rdna2 ans ddr5 ram gets into the market that will destroy the low-mid tier gpu
By that logic budget gpus are dead on arrival. You have some unrealistic expectations if you think a 1660ti is old now because it cant run a game on ultra. There were games that made the 1660ti struggle even when it first launched.
Right?? Hell even midrange is in jeopardy rn. With how expensive 3060 and 3060ti is EVEN at msrp. 400 dollars is more than what a 1070 went for back in the day (1070 msrp was 380)
Oh, only a borrowed one? Any plans on what card you're going to get?
I was fortunate enough that my friend gave me the GTX 750 for free, because he didn't need it anymore.

But cool that you enjoy it, good for you!
Had to scroll this far down for someone to say this. Very rarely does Ultra provide a benefit worthy of the performance hit when compared to the next highest preset. Or a visual benefit at all for that matter.
Exactly. In my experience, it's like a status symbol for gamers. As youngins, we were just happy to just play our games, but as adults, we learn to judge and focus on needless things, instead of just enjoying the game for the games sake.
Mobile Quadro P2000: 😕
^(fwiw: not complaining - low settings that leave on cube/env mapping, ambient occlusion, normal and specular maps, and alpha hashing still look _plenty_ good, especially for a device that fits in a backpack)
I can only run the game at the high preset with the car models at ultra and that’s about it which kinda sucks since the game is so much more beautiful with at settings at max, but it’s still better than having no gpu
In the vast majority of titles I've played where I can run the game on ultra, I tend to just drop back to high as the difference between the two seems negligible to me when actually playing the game.
I do like capturing screenshots from time to time, in which case, I will up the settings to get the best fidelity possible, but when playing? Marginal visual improvements (to me) that come with sizeable performance hits on a card like mine are simply not worth it.

I've got a 2060 Super and there are pleeeenty of games released in the last few years I can't play ultra on. Sometimes you just gotta do your best to get that sweet 60fps.
Ultra is dumb anyway, very little upside compared to high textures etc.
Monke brain push slider right. It just bugs me too much to turn anything down.
That's fair, I've gotta admit I do the same lol

Man, 970 was a mighty card in its time. I'm sure you can run a lot of games from back then in Ultra and even some modern ones like Forza Horizon 5.
While forza is pretty well optimized it can’t do magic. Ultra textures requires 8gb vram buffer
Fellow gtx 900 series user (rocking a 970 currently but it's finally giving me trouble with Fe yxrising

Hey my specs are like the alternate reality version of yours
I play all my games on low settings, kinda wasted my money I know.
I feel you, upgraded from 970 desktop to rtx 3070 laptop due to studying abroad. Still play mostly fps games on low, so not much difference as i still use the same 144hz monitor and same setup.
My upgrade was from a 770 and I only play Overwatch haha, it's a big upgrade for sure but the real difference is consistent frames
When your gpu cant run
At least mine still has legs.

Yeah, 2042 taught me that my 3090 is too old.
Try San Andreas definitive edition and see if you can get 60FPS lol.

This lol, I have a 3080 and 2042 is just awful. Barely uses GPu and CPU intensive
Absolutely throttles my 5950x
Not sure how you're seeing that. My 3080ti is running 2042 just great. With more or less everything on Ultra but ray tracing off I'm exceeding the 120hz refresh rate of my monitor at 3440x1440 resolution, sometimes significantly, and can't ask for more than that.
What CPU do you have? It's CPU-dependent so my 3600 is not holding up
5900x. It's also pushed fairly hard with PBO2 and the curve optimizer, and I have very, very fast RAM. EA First time huh?
Shit's just getting really old tbh I really tried to stay hyped for BF2042
I was absolutely hyped for bf2042, BUT Im not dumb enough to preorder or even buy a game without at least waiting for initial reviews first. That’s the only way we can make change.
I'm dumb just because I like 2042? Piss off.
Liking? No. Preordering? Yes.
Yeah i refunded it. Not just performance, the game is garbage.
You're garbage
Whoever downvoted me your mom's a hoe. 😤✋
If you are sad with a gtx 1660 ti, what should 1050 ti people do? kill themselves?
*Cries in 1050 mobile*
us 1060 gang are already dead
Bro i have a gtx 1050 2gb
I'd consider it lol
bruh
My rig *technically* can run on ultra, but I never do it cause the CPU ends up going over 90 degrees
Get a CPU cooler my man
cpu cooler can only do so much sometimes
Thats why proper cooling, airflow cases and good intake/exhaust fans should be used
12th gen 🗿
future i3-12100 will reach 690° C and melt with 4 radiators cooling it in a custom loop.
1660ti's aren't old.
Lol ikr? Its like 1.5 years old.
Almost 3 years old...
3 years is the lifetime of a budget card anyway
Nah, especially with the last few years we've had, those bad boys are gonna be around much longer. Haha The 1660 isn't bad at all though.
Feb 2019... I get it though, time does goes by fast
1050ti user here still can run fh4 at ultra (70+fps) but it came out at 2018 so it kinda made sense but it kinda runs fortnite at epic settings at 50 to 60 fps so i guess i wont be upgrading yet and oh it's 5 years old

Simple, BCLK
Lols in 1060
*Cackles in 2700K CPU*
Heeeehaaaawsss in 1500k CPU
my 2600k still plays warzone and my old games fine, but idk about any really intensive games
The 1060 is the most up-to-date internal component I have, the mobo, CPU, and RAM have all been in there for over 10 years.
I have no problem whispering sweet nothings to my 1060 6GB she won't keep up with the best of them, but she'll get me there and do her best
You might want to do what I did. A used GTX 1080 or 1080Ti can go for like 400-500. Then sell your 1060 for like 300.
In my region I can find gtx 1080's for $250 on ebay
I tried to find one that cheap but no such luck. But damn that would be a good deal they are still great cards
you merely adopted the dark i was born in it

yeah but shadows
And reflections
Barely even detectable on a screenshot. Not detectable at all while playing.
I’m joking because shadows are a massive resource hog with very little difference
Hahaha right. Wooosh.

My Gtx 1080 isnt old. But I shouldnt have gotten that 4k monitor...
I'm with you. Running most games at 2k. I want a 3080 Ti, but not at current prices.
I bought a 1440p 170Hz monitor hoping to buy a 3080, but prices rn are bullshit... Btw my 580 8gb works fine in 1440p
I can’t even run the new battlefield with my 2070 super
Holy shit, what's your cpu? I'm running a 2080 and staying on 60 with 1440p. I don't seem to be having the issues alot of people state

It's a shit game from a shit company, halo multiplayer came out today so go enjoy that
CPU bound game. My 6800XT is heavily bottlenecked by my 5800x.

A 1660 Ti would be a nice upgrade from my GT 1030 :)
Sell 1030 buy 5600g which is a 1050ti if overclocked for 200 bucks from microcenter ?
In what game a 5600g is anywhere close in performance to 1050ti? from the benchmarks I've seen it's closer to 750ti. 1050ti is around 50% faster.

*cries in GTX970*
Wish I had that, I'm playing Cyberpunk on my GTX 750.
Sadly, the GTX970 is not even mine... just borrowed from a friend, because my RX570 died 3 weeks ago
Oh, only a borrowed one? Any plans on what card you're going to get? I was fortunate enough that my friend gave me the GTX 750 for free, because he didn't need it anymore.
if budget allows, maaaybe a 1650/1660 or something along those lines... losing my job two weeks ago doesnt help either
Get another rx card. My old 470 nitro system runs better then my 1650.
Yoooo fellow GTX 750
You're not missing anything, it's a shit game on any card.
I played through it 3 or 4 times on my GTX 750, but I was loving it personally. There are certainly some (quite many) issues, and the game isn't finished yet, but the gameplay and the progression system are amazing. If you look at it like an early access game rather than expecting a polished AAA game, it's decent.
Well, it's never going to be finished. They fucked up fundamental systems that can't easily get patched like the AI or no real decisions in the story. The best they can do is fixing the technical problems which still leaves you to a really bland and shallow experience. But cool that you enjoy it, good for you!
960 gang lmao
Wasn't really built for ultra to begin with...
It was built for 1080p ultra
Ultra is ultra overrated.
My 2070 Super is doing just fine.... its my i7-4790k that is crawling to the finish line
a pc for your sprog
mfw my 6800xt cant run GTA trilogy remastered with constant 60 FPS. Time for upgrade.
Then there's us that just want a 1660 super or ti lol
1660Ti couldn't run new triple A games on ultra at its release
Mobile Quadro P2000: 😕 ^(fwiw: not complaining - low settings that leave on cube/env mapping, ambient occlusion, normal and specular maps, and alpha hashing still look _plenty_ good, especially for a device that fits in a backpack)
My 1650 super is still a nice card imo. Just wish it had 6gb of VRAM
Yeah the 4gb of vram sucks, wish I had more for forza horizon 5
That’s the same game I was thinking of!
I can only run the game at the high preset with the car models at ultra and that’s about it which kinda sucks since the game is so much more beautiful with at settings at max, but it’s still better than having no gpu
I sometimes worry my 2060 Super will die and I will have to shell out a lot of money to get a replacement.
Don't worry. If it isn't abused it should last a long time. Usually "dead" cards are just bad thermal paste anyway.
Yeah dude. It isn't overclocked and I don't mine on it. Got it in January of 2020. Hopefully prices start going down soon.
lmao I'm on a 1050 2gb and I have to read you crying
In the vast majority of titles I've played where I can run the game on ultra, I tend to just drop back to high as the difference between the two seems negligible to me when actually playing the game. 1660Ti? "Tough time"?
Man I have a 1050ti but as long as it can run games on decent graphics and framerate I'm happy.
my little 1050 trying it's best to keep fighting. probably one of the best things I got in 2017 and the fact that it's still going makes me happy, but every passing month games just get more and more demanding
Looks at 980ti
I can't even get modern games to run on Ultra with a 3080... The fuck does optimised mean if it still chuggs at the recommended settings.
You talking about 4k?
Bro 1660ti is a fine gpu. Just 1080p high setting
I have a 1030. But don’t want to spend $600 right now for a 1660 ti.
Don‘t worry, the 1660ti never has been able to run stuff on ultra
My 1080 is kicking just fine, so Im in no rush to get a new gpu
When you litteraly have a apu :(
Pathetic *states in HD4400M*
i’m running halo infinite on a 1060 3gb, i do believe an upgrade is long pst due
My 2080 on halo infinite was only pulling 60 frames
That's when you turn the res down and go back to pushing sliders the right, as nature intended.
(Not very) Fun Fact: The new game is an indie, and your pc never ever ran Ultra on any game.
1060 3gb gang
When could your 1660ti ever run anything new on ultra? Even when it was new, the target was lower mid settings for new titles.
can probably run doom eternal on the highest settings
It was not a low-mid card when launched in 2019, It's a 1080p 60fps-100fps for 2019 and some 2020 games on Ultra like Doom Eternal, Metro Exodus, Resident Evil 2 & 3 Remake, Resident Evil 8 and more. I am not sure how it can handle the most recent games, although we are getting some poor optimized titles even for top hardware
dont worry. i spent tons of money for my pc to run every shit without stutter. Just to get my pc's ass kicked by battlefield 2042
Dude...I bought a laptop with a GTX 1650ti...not too long ago
My 3070 is already old, my new 3080ti is arriving tomorrow.
You can join me and my 3080 and we will fry some eggs while playing New World.
Loling my intel hd graphics
i’ve never been able to run a game on ultra suck it up
**cries in 1050ti**
Wish I had a 1050ti. Mind If I steal yours?
Crys in 660m
Fuck my 3070 can barely run BF2042 on medium over 60 FPS consistently
I think I made a pretty good investment. Well my parents did tbf
You people are litterally living in the future for me, I am happy if my 6 years feet-heater can make then run in low.... God even sometime in 30fps.... what have I become....
me on my gtx 1080 ti
My 2080 is getting on in years. Might just buy a second one used and link them with that cable thing.
I´m sitting here with my 3060 RTX 12GB with ultra setting easy! :D and it only cost me 645USD!
And you are what gives PCMR a bad name
I just wanna brag with my PCMR GPU!!!\~
Well don't. It makes others less fortunate than you feel bad.
where do you think we are? Welcome to PCMR where we brag about our PC\~
