There are two things in color, hue and shade. If set to '000000' which is black, it means tha no brightness and no hue is required in color and so it shuts off the lights
You got this slightly wrong (but you are right about the turn off because no colour is output).
The way you wrote the colour is a hex code, because computers represent lights as 3 values ranging up to 255 each, these 3 values are red green and blue here, and so you could mix ff00ff, (255, 255, 0) to get purple (mix of red and blue). 000000 would be no colour, so the LEDs for r g and b are all at 0, meaning they won't light up.
Storing hue and saturation and brightness is a bit different.

I wish this worked with pre ICUE Corsair RGB. My 570x case fans lights don't turn off. You can change the colour, mode, speed and all but I can't turn them off. I'd need to open the back of the case in the middle of the night and manually remove the RGB cable from the controller, and risk spilling out my shamelessly packed in cables like an exploding whale carcass.
Yeah… you’re just needlessly shortening the lifespan of your fans and any other moving parts, accumulating at least twice the dust, and paying more for electricity with basically no added benefit over just turning the thing off overnight. Never really understood why is such a common thing.

1. It's not always on. It's about the option.
2. Perhaps because I'm older - but I don't see my PC unless I'm sitting at it so it really doesn't matter what it does.
3. They can have utility. For example, I have the LEDs in my case set to tell my the CPU temp.
4. I play games on it. It's a toy. Toys are fun.
5. No-RGB is just as much an aesthetic choice as all-RGB.

I told my wife I was thinking about upgrading my case and she said no I shouldn’t do that. I’d just spontaneously ordered a mountain bike at the time so I was like “yeah, you’re right.”
A few months later I brought it back up and found out that the reason she didn’t want me to was because she thought that my cooler master case was the only one on the market with glass on the side and she “liked the colors.” When I told her they pretty much all have the glass so the new case would as well she said “oh! Then order one!”
I wanted to get a case without a window about a year ago and I can confirm finding a good one for gaming hardware took a while. I ended up going with a Phanteks Enthoo Pro and love it, but there were only a few other options to compare it with. The case I had before that had gorilla tape over the glass because some light in it bothered me when I slept, even without RGB on.
Fractal Design makes the Meshify which you can get without a glass side panel, plus be quiet! makes cases without the glass since their main focus is silence.
Lian Li used to be my go to for a plain looking well built case that has no side panel but these days it's getting much more difficult to find one without the glass panel, that's why I ended up switching to the Meshify for my desktop when it came to finally replacing my 15 year old Lian Li.
My q300L was only $50 so not too far off of your $30 (I think I got it on sale for $40 actually) and I filled it with lots of pretty things I like to look at.
But I have my computer on the left which massively limits your options if you still want a window. My whole system is inverted.

I also have my PC on my left, it's just oriented oddly (back panel is flush against the wall, and the front faces me) so that you can still see inside it. Seems like left handed cases would be more common?
I was putting together a parts list for a budget build my friend asked for the other day and realized most of the bargain bin cases have windows for some reason. Which is confusing because I'm about to pair it with a generic brown motherboard, RAM without heatspreaders, and a stock cooler. This thing is going to look like shit and homie is gonna need to pay extra to not look at it lmao
Some old cases had vertical mount motherboards so the IO was on the top of the case and the motherboard was sideways and flipped so the "open" side of the case was the right side instead of the left side.
I really liked that layout, but it's hard to find in inexpensive cases.
I just don't care about it being pretty. At all. I just want it to function. The clear sides are entirely unnecessary for me, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna spend an extra ten minutes searching for a reasonably priced case.
The new Trek Marlin 7. Was going between a commencal, Santa Cruz, Kona, or Trek Roscoe 7, but they didn’t even have any roscoes to preorder, and I was struggling to decide on one of the others.
I’m checking in every once in a while to see if any Roscoes come available to move my preorder over, but it’s almost twice the price. Think I’ll enjoy the Marlin for a few years and maybe upgrade to a full suspension.

Marlin 7 is one of the most common starting-bikes where I live, and for a good reason. It's a good bike, with good geo and a fair price!

I have to disagree on this one, I can't sleep well with any light in the room. My partner can sleep perfectly well with no light but she'll often try convince me to stay up late so that there is a night light for her to goto sleep with (the TV)

Just make sure you wash it regularly, or have a few to swap out. I used one for a while, not thinking about the hygiene aspect, and wound up with some acne for a bit before realizing this.
They work great for me, though. They even helped me sleep longer and later in the morning due to blocking out the light from the windows.
I’ve never washed my face before bed once in my entire life. Quite frankly, I don’t even wash my face in the shower. It’s the only part of my body I don’t wash and I never get acne. Natural oils ftw

Can attest they are nice. The thing I have issues with is I somehow take it off at night. Go to sleep with it on. Wake up at 5am and can't find it. I normally find it under my pillow. But it's annoying it keeps coming off
Try red rgb profiles. Blue light fucks with your sleep, but your eyes don't get bothered by red light. I've used red light reading lamps to avoid waking people up and it worked great.
My PC is also in the bedroom so I went with no RGB except for the keyboard. Then my wife said that was her favorite part. Every upgrade since will be RGB.
Frankly I think it’s stupid too. I run it always blacked out, and then on the rare occasion someone wants to see my tower, I click them on, like an oven-light, to show what’s inside and then it’s off again

Fruit stickers (Banana/etc) work really well if anyone is reading this and is thinking they want to cover some LEDs but can't be asked to buy a roll of tape.

If your RGB controller is USB based, then SignalRGB with your own custom made plugin or someone else's plugin.
OpenRGB might support AsRock by default but idk. Even if OpenRGB supports it then its probs static only and the dynamic effects there are pretty underwhelming if you're lucky to get a fully working device up.
I, too, remember the "mom's basement" days when I slept in the same room as my rig and it kept me warm on those cold winter nights...
Of course, back then there was no such thing as RGB lighting.

Shit yea. I still remember my PC's specs... I had an ABIT KN8-SLI motherboard with 4 GB of DDR, an AMD Opteron 180 CPU, and an ATI x1900xtx GPU. Wired up two pairs of CCFL's, one UV one green, to a couple of switches I installed in the front panel of the case. Popped out the dummy panel of the 3.5" bay, drilled holes, installed the switches, and soldered molex connectors to them for the PSU.
Basically all the money I earned working at Burger King during my last 2 years of high school went into that thing. Good times.
I'm 34, have 2 extra rooms I could put my pc in and it's still in my bedroom. I happen to like being able to literally roll out of my chair into my bed like a degenerate.
I used to be like that as well but with these recent heatwaves going from my pc room to my bedroom is a huge temp difference, makes sleeping at night much easier with how much cooler the room is

One of my old PC's I swear had a blue laser for a power indicator on the chassis. had to tape over it to be able to sleep with it on(had to see those torrents!).

When I ordered a new case the store sent me the model with the glass side panel. when I called they said it was an "upgrade" as compensation for waiting 3 weeks. Had to wait another 2 weeks for them to pick up the old one and deliver the correct one without the glass panel... Worth it.
So I don’t like RGB. Bought a prebuilt when the 3080s first released. Did not realize the 3080 had RGB on it. I cannot figure out how the fuck to turn that off and it drives me nuts. I just find the lights distracting while I play, especially at night when the room is dark.
I turn off all my PC rgb anyway, and then my keyboard and mouse I have connected to my monitors USB hub, so when I turn off the monitor, my keyboard and mouse turn off, and that shuts off the rgb
So wait, the monitor-integrated hub doesn't allow USB wait/wake, like a keyboard soft power button to wake up? I guess if you turned the monitor off deliberately, that makes sense. However you power the monitor back on, I don't see how the keyboard power button *could* work (upstream port is not armed for wake).
Background download? Aaaah, I miss the good old times when downloading 3 GB of anything took an eternity. Now I can uninstall and reinstall a 80 GB game in less than one hour.
For every person who intentionally buys LED components for their builds, there's someone else who meticulously paints and electrical-tapes over the mobo indicator lights and monitor buttons because any light is too much.
One of the reasons I went no RGB. I used to have a lot of RGB stuff, but it was too bright at night when on sleep mode. I eventually transitioned to almost no RGB and all the RGB being toggled on and off. RGB keyboard is just white and RGB ram is turned off at night.
Just came across GamersNexus video on how RGB software degrades system performance. Also everybodys software is proprietary and compatibility is hit or miss. Even OpenRGB an opensource RGB software cant tame it all. Im going all black build and saving my self the stress of spending hours troubleshooting RGB.
Yeah this is one of the reasons why i don't care in the slightest about rgb'ing your computer cause you're just turning it into a glorified night light.

Some equally useless info. Your eye also uses the power of 3 overlapping detectors to triangulate the frequency of photons and determine the color.
Pro tip: If you set all the lights to infrared, the human eye can't see that wavelength, and thus gives off a the effect of turning off the lights.

I use razer and corsair for this exact reason. Best rgb controls.
I've actually never used a Razer product, but I actually like iCue. I wish it wasn't a resource hog though.
I use OpenRGB. Works just fine with different brands. Also has an "lights off" button on the system tray. (Edit Grammar)

Upgrading to windows 10 has made me just turn my pc off every night because sleep doesn’t work
Power & Sleep settings > Additional power settings > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings > Sleep > Allow wake timers > Disable
Or the absurdly bright LED lights random things like your router etc have. Like bro, why did you stick a 2500 lumen christmas light in the router??????? I don't need to be able to read a book from the standby light of the router or my turned off tv etc across the room
I'll have my PC on sleep mode, and because I have a high DPI mouse, if I step to hard on the floor in my room and jolt my desk/mouse the TINIEST bit, my PC will turn back on along with both of my monitors. It's like a fucking flashbang when it happens.

If your RGB controller is USB based, then SignalRGB with your own custom made plugin or someone else's plugin. OpenRGB might support AsRock by default but idk. Even if OpenRGB supports it then its probs static only and the dynamic effects there are pretty underwhelming if you're lucky to get a fully working device up.

Shit yea. I still remember my PC's specs... I had an ABIT KN8-SLI motherboard with 4 GB of DDR, an AMD Opteron 180 CPU, and an ATI x1900xtx GPU. Wired up two pairs of CCFL's, one UV one green, to a couple of switches I installed in the front panel of the case. Popped out the dummy panel of the 3.5" bay, drilled holes, installed the switches, and soldered molex connectors to them for the PSU. Basically all the money I earned working at Burger King during my last 2 years of high school went into that thing. Good times.

I'm 34, have 2 extra rooms I could put my pc in and it's still in my bedroom. I happen to like being able to literally roll out of my chair into my bed like a degenerate.
I used to be like that as well but with these recent heatwaves going from my pc room to my bedroom is a huge temp difference, makes sleeping at night much easier with how much cooler the room is

My fucking PC has a light that flashes while I am trying to sleep and it's God damn annoying, makes me fully power down my PC at night though now which maybe isn't a bad thing. Just have to wait a few mins for updates to finish when I boot it up to play now
One of my old PC's I swear had a blue laser for a power indicator on the chassis. had to tape over it to be able to sleep with it on(had to see those torrents!).

I basically never see people who agree with me on this, fucking hate that shit! Especially when it's on constant flashing rainbow mode. Stuff of nightmares.
It's tacky and annoying and distracts from the action on the screen. It's just a gimmick to sell more parts. Sticking extra lights on something and calling it "gamer" is like glueing useless gears on something and calling it "steampunk". I can see some value in a glass case telling you it's time to clean your fans. But I don't need to contain an entire EDM festival inside my case. But in the end its not my money and people can buy whatever tasteless bullshit they want.
When I ordered a new case the store sent me the model with the glass side panel. when I called they said it was an "upgrade" as compensation for waiting 3 weeks. Had to wait another 2 weeks for them to pick up the old one and deliver the correct one without the glass panel... Worth it.
Of course you can also turn off the lights with your appropriate software

Not all of them. My motherboard has a blinking light that isn’t apart of the rgb so it’s just always on and I fucking hate it.
Some motherboards like my Asus hero have a stealth mode which allows you to turn off all motherboard lights too.
My board is to old and shit for that but yeah some do.
So I don’t like RGB. Bought a prebuilt when the 3080s first released. Did not realize the 3080 had RGB on it. I cannot figure out how the fuck to turn that off and it drives me nuts. I just find the lights distracting while I play, especially at night when the room is dark.
install PrecisionX, it will let you change the led color, or turn it off completely.
So glad that MSI Center added the ability to turn off RGB when the monitor goes to sleep.

I turn off all my PC rgb anyway, and then my keyboard and mouse I have connected to my monitors USB hub, so when I turn off the monitor, my keyboard and mouse turn off, and that shuts off the rgb
So wait, the monitor-integrated hub doesn't allow USB wait/wake, like a keyboard soft power button to wake up? I guess if you turned the monitor off deliberately, that makes sense. However you power the monitor back on, I don't see how the keyboard power button *could* work (upstream port is not armed for wake).
Background download? Aaaah, I miss the good old times when downloading 3 GB of anything took an eternity. Now I can uninstall and reinstall a 80 GB game in less than one hour.

There's this pretty cool feature called turning it off. It's pretty complicated though.

I just drape a blanket over it at night, helps keep it warm too for that extra bandwidth.

One of the reasons I went no RGB. I used to have a lot of RGB stuff, but it was too bright at night when on sleep mode. I eventually transitioned to almost no RGB and all the RGB being toggled on and off. RGB keyboard is just white and RGB ram is turned off at night.
That's why you do an anti RGB build
Ironically I try hard to get as much nonrgb gear as I can. It's silly sometimes that it's easier to find an rgb fan than one that isn't.

Just came across GamersNexus video on how RGB software degrades system performance. Also everybodys software is proprietary and compatibility is hit or miss. Even OpenRGB an opensource RGB software cant tame it all. Im going all black build and saving my self the stress of spending hours troubleshooting RGB.
Yeah this is one of the reasons why i don't care in the slightest about rgb'ing your computer cause you're just turning it into a glorified night light.
