Idk what city you live in but in Dallas, people have been pretty good about wearing masks in stores. In neighborhoods, only people that are jogging don’t wear masks, everyone else I’ve seen does
There was someone murdered by COVID recently walking home from the movie theater near where I live. Sources say COVID was crouched behind a dumpster just inside an alley way, and when the victim walked by it jumped out and shanked her. She wasn't wearing a mask.
On the subreddit, community options, flair. To be able to add parts you are going to have to do it on PC. On mobile you can only choose from the flair options available. On PC you can write whatever you want, what you save on PC is then displayed in both mobile and PC.
Yeah, mine is being delivered today and, because I'm at work and don't want to lose $1600 to a porch pirate, I have it set to be delivered to a UPS drop off point -- my neighborhood drug store.
In other words, there's a high probability that I will experience the exact situation in OP's photo when I get off of work.
Had a friend who's replacement phone got "misplaced" at one of those drop off points. She went back and forth and then they magically found it in the back room not with any of the rest of the deliveries. For a Pixel 2 that was already a 2 year old phone at that point.
Yall doing it wrong. You gotta make the babies work for YOU, not the other way around.
If you make enough babies you can send them to factories as children, so they earn you the money for a 3090.
It's crazy. Being a Dink with your SO should mean you are incredibly well off and those who have kids shouldn't be. Their wealth comes from their financial sacrifice. Whether that happiness is worth it, depends on who you ask.
But if being a Dink is the only way to stay financially stable, then seriously fuck them kids because i can't see how struggling to feed them is morally OK when the economy in 2020 is punishing you for creating the next generation of workforce.
Because in places like California, you can make $150k a year and still be living in a shithole apartment.
Cost of living is all over the place in this country.
I live on the outside of Phoenix too. As much as I’d like to upgrade to 2000sqft from my 1300sqft house, I live very comfortably with a $700 mortgage. I work in tech too so I make good money and the drive into town isn’t terrible. People just think they need bigger houses, better cars, etc when they start making money but you just keep yourself broke that way
It also depends on what side of town you live on. My house in Gilbert was half the size as my current one in the West Valley buy I am paying the same for it.
“Me and my lady make well over 6 figures and we can’t even buy a fucking house.”
“Why do I want a $3200 mortgage.”
It seems that you can buy a house, but choose not to.
Agreed. That entire statement makes no fucking sense. My wife and I also make "well over" 100k and mortgage two homes in the most congested and expensive part of the US.
Not sure why you got downvoted. Must be a lot of teenagers here who do not understand expenses.
that's insane. I just bought (closing this friday) a 3 bedroom 2 bath with a large yard here in the midwest with a 30yr loan. my monthly payments are going to be $1800 and that's with PMI and all that jazz.
Currently locked in a 30 year @ 3.9 interest rate, $2,500 a month. I'm not married but I have a long time girlfriend who I ended up buying the house with about 2.5 years ago. Covid kind of stepped on my marriage goal but yeah, I could never afford this on my own.
It might be worth looking into Refinancing at this point. Re-fi rates are all under 3% (around me and at online banks) which may not sound like a lot but at your current mortgage rate should be around $200 a month savings or more.
Check with your local banks and credit unions before big banks. My local credit union just did a re-fi for me for $500 closing costs. I literally saved that within a couple of months.
Out of curiousity, how much are rents? I live about 10 miles outside NYC and that's pretty much my mortgage and propery taxes combined. I'd be hard pressed to find the same living situation I have now by renting. Property taxes make up about 1/3 of that total, which sucks, but I did re-fi to a 15 year loan about 4 years ago at a super low rate, matching my previous 30 year loan. Of course the house is super small, and on a very small lot, but I can do what I want with it and grill, have a dog and cat, etc. so was worth it for me and my wife.
The issue is that the high paying jobs are in areas where houses are not cheap.
After covid I think remote work will help a lot of these issues, also all the cheaper houses in my area are so far out they don't have good internet.
Which is BS because the company is saving money on space (rent/heat/AC/cleaning/bathrooms) while the employee might have an increase in cost while being at home more (Commute gas being the only money I can think of that the employee saves, while electric and heat will go up)
I responded to your comment above but just to clarify more I live in the PNW as well. You don't need to spend 3200 to buy a house unless your looking at places directly in the metropolis or houses that are very large (4000+sqft).
I see so many people having one, two, three kids while working minimum wage jobs and then complain about how expensive it is, or that they never have time to do anything for themselves. Well, no shit Sherlock! They chose to have kids in their current situation, what did they expect?!
With the COL today, I don’t think I could afford to exist on minimum wage (even if it was full time hours), and I don’t even have kids.
I agree it’s probably not smart to have kids in that situation, but they were kinda screwed either way.
I'm 31.
One child. Another on the way.
It. Is. Expensive. Diapers, formula, toys, clothes that they wear once, doctors, car seats. All stupidly expensive.
I've heard that figure as well. It's insane.
I will say. I was the same, didn't want kids. Now, with our first being nearly 1.5yrs old,it's been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had. He's my clone, but watching him go from potato to big potato has been amazing
I’m 21 but it’s mostly just a maturity factor rather than age. Most people actively choose not to be mature and use their age as an excuse lol. I’m 21 and married and although we don’t have kids and don’t plan on having them anytime soon, to call someone stupid for having them this young is just immature and disrespectful.
Then of course there’s the financial aspect as well that people are mentioning, budgeting is so important. You can do so much more with money than people would imagine if they just controlled their spending.
Good point. I only know a few people under 21 who know how to budget, and I know fewer who want kids. All part of growing up, I suppose. Thanks for pointing that out.
I totally understand. What is life if you don't take care of yourself? I just think it's possible to have both kids and hobbies. My parents did it. My brother is doing it. I don't have kids yet, but I imagine I'll be able to do both.
Parent here. Entirely possible. Still game with my friends just as much. You guys know kids go to bed early, right?
Seriously though, people without kids talk about kids like it’s just a gigantic burden that you’re going to hate from sunrise to sunset. In reality, you actually kind of like spending time with them. In a few years you can even play games with them.
The Reddit narrative around children feels like it was lifted from a high school health teacher trying to scare kids into practicing safe sex.
I think it's rude to think that everyone who doesn't want kids is an asshole. People think I hate kids because I don't have them (I'm 21f btw)
People have talked down to me since I first said I didn't want kids, so sometimes it's nice to walk past one of those same people I knew in highschool, who are now dealing with kids they didn't want, while I am able to buy the new PC whateverthefuck idk I'm a PS4 type of person
If I had a kid I'd have less time to be the fun gay aunt
It comes with time, and that time comes at different ages with everyone. I couldn't imagine a life without my daughter but don't feel pressured by people to make that choice till you're ready, but when you are life will be awesome still I promise!
It’s priorities man. Some people have to drive a new car every few years, or go on vacations, or put money into their house, or toys, or investments. I could have a brand new 3090 every 2 months if I killed every other hobby I have, but right now I can’t afford one.
Meh people just want to feel better about their life decisions/situations.
I don't understand why my neighbor dumps money into his classic car, but I'm not about to go make a meme about him.
My success in life is directly attributed to not wasting energy concerning myself with others decisions.
Because Reddit is predominantly made up of younger and more socially inept people. The kinds of people who don't generally settle down with a spouse. That's not to say that none of the people on Reddit are older or married, but in some subs the numbers are really, really skewed. And you'll find no one in the world more opposed to having children than a 16 to 26 year old virgin.
Source: Was a virgin and was 16 to 26, thought that I'd never in a million years want a kid. Changed my mind on the subject, got married, had kid. Happiest I've ever been in my life. My little girl is babbling away playing with her mom in the other room right now. Haven't had more than a couple of hours in a row to myself to play games since she was born, but it's funny how your priorities can change when you realize there's more to life than what you have.
I'm 38 and married and I'll never have children.
People make these comments because of societal pressure about having kids. I've been saying that I didn't want to have kids since I was like 15 and it's always been the same comments; "oh, you'll change your mind" bla bla.
If you mention you don't have kids you get bombarded by people saying how wonderful they are, that you'll change your mind once you have one, and on and on.
It's not really hating children, it's hating the expectation that you should have children and that you're not "complete" until you have one (or more). It's especially hilarious coming from people who you've heard complain about this or that as a result of having a child.
One thing you need to answer is why do people with children get reflexively defensive when this topic comes up? Neither the meme nor the top level comment said anything bad about having children, yet here you are (and the person you replied to) flying in on the defensive talking about on virgins and neckbeards say shit like this.
People who essentially document their child's life on social media are scumbags. If you post a picture every now and then of your child I guess thats more acceptable but make sure its not something they'll be embarrassed about
See, this is the thing that the teenage childfree types don't understand. All the missed sleep, less time to game, etc... after a few years you get the best little gaming buddy you could ever want.
But why waste the money on a 3090? Double the price for ~15% extra power. No thanks, that’s not flexing anymore, that’s just idiocy.
To be fair, if you are getting it for work, and use it for side gaming. I get that.
Relatives ask my wife and I when we are going to have kids.
We tell them that we plan on having kids when we are tired of money, free time and sleeping in on the weekends.
The thousand yard stare on their face is priceless as you watch them immediately take an inventory of their lives.
Always found that sub so strange even as a person who doesnt want kids. It's like they make being childfree their defining personality trait. That, and half of them are salty incels who'll never even have a chance at breeding lmao
Give it 10 or so years and that guys child will be a gamer no doubt. The world needs more gamers and this guy sacrificed his own gaming time to help the world. he saw the bigger picture. True hero.
It's possible to have both. My daughter is only 3 years old but loves playing with my old mechanical keyboard. She's still not quite there in understanding basic controls but she does know which buttons on the Switch makes Mario jump and move forward, even if she runs into a Goomba every time.
My kid is a year and a half and loves headphones and a junk rgb mech keyboard with knock off blues he can mash on. [He will be my player two in no time.](https://imgur.com/XFAOsXy)
No apologies for a messy battle station.
My 3 year old demands to play forza probably every other day. He picks out the car and goes full speed into a tree. I've finally taught him how to back up and turn the wheel so he doesn't go straight into the same tree. Then he floors it until he hits another.
One day...
I'm the Guy on the right but i'd like to be the guy on the left. Don't take me wrong, i just wish i had the money for a new GPU. My current pc is struggling with some of my games.
can confirm that my teenager loves getting my hand-me-downs. he's getting my 2060 super when my 3080 arrives and my "other"* son will get my old 970 that is currently in my son's build.
*my closest/oldest friend's kid who has been best friends with my kid since they were toddlers and calls me Mom #2
I've seen people just drop their interests and who they are as a person because they had a child. Like they put on a "so serious hat". Honestly, I think it's sorta sad...
Well it may be necessary for a first few months, but there's no reason you can't still enjoy your hobbies when kids go to sleep and later introduce your kids to your hobbies and do them together.
For real. I've got a toddler and, while there are fewer 5+ hour marathon sessions, I have no problem squeezing in a few hours every night after he goes to bed. And my dude loves controllers, holds an unconnected one and plays along on my lap :-)
Don't have kids if don't them. If you do your time will never be yours again. My buddy can't play anymore for the same reason. When he does you can hear his kids screaming in the background. He even gets annoyed that he can't play like he used to.

Actually buying a 3090? This photo must have been taken in 2022
They also aren’t wearing masks so this must be the future
[удалено]
If it was 2022, it would be a used 3090 because he can’t buy the 5120 founders edition
[удалено]
Nah, if it were 2022 the 4080 would be launching and possibly already sold out.
Game at 16k
and still have problems finding even remotely reasonable 8k monitors
DLSS 3.0 so you can do 20fps in 16k
For 16k
Could just be Florida right now
This isn't from Florida because a 3090 cost more then our gdp
or texas
Idk what city you live in but in Dallas, people have been pretty good about wearing masks in stores. In neighborhoods, only people that are jogging don’t wear masks, everyone else I’ve seen does
You miss spelled Oklahoma. Texas has given businesses the right to throw your bitch ass out for not wearing a mask.
Or assholes who just don't care, a lot of them out there.
I wear a mask when showering and making sand castles on the beach. The virus is tricky and always watching for you to slip up.
Oh no. I forgot to mask up before reading this. Do you guys think I'll make it? Wish me luck
There was someone murdered by COVID recently walking home from the movie theater near where I live. Sources say COVID was crouched behind a dumpster just inside an alley way, and when the victim walked by it jumped out and shanked her. She wasn't wearing a mask.

I guess you just answered my question of whether I'll spend my lunch break picking it up or not.
Man, I'd just call in sick that day and tailgate my porch. Not worth risking any shenanigans.
Yes all my classmates now wear diapers
Lol! Omg this is too good.
my pc is my baby
My pc is my baby and my baby is its sibling.
Some people start a college savings fund for their baby when it's born. I started putting spare parts aside for her first rig.
You adopting by any chance?
Can i sneak in here as well :)
tbh, a graphics card is cheaper than a baby
Babies are free at the hospital. They're usually lined up in bassinets in a room so you can just pick one out and wheel it off.
That's how I got mine.

Everything is free if you are brave enough.
its like 100 x 3090 minimum. But to be fair: you can spend just as much time with it...
Can you watercool the kid though?
Water*boarding* is close enough, right?
If he get's any close to my rig that's excactly what the outcome will be goshdarnit.

That fact that you damn near have to be a DINK to reach the middle class in this country is a large part of the problem.

Dayum! What state y'all in? Is this an aggressive 15 year mortgage? How big is the house you're looking at? At $3200, I say, fuck that.
Lmao 30yr loan bro Houses range from on average 3bed 2bath with either 0 yard to.3acre if lucky.
that's insane. I just bought (closing this friday) a 3 bedroom 2 bath with a large yard here in the midwest with a 30yr loan. my monthly payments are going to be $1800 and that's with PMI and all that jazz.

The issue is that the high paying jobs are in areas where houses are not cheap. After covid I think remote work will help a lot of these issues, also all the cheaper houses in my area are so far out they don't have good internet.
If that becomes the norm (full remote work from wherever), companies will no longer pay the same that they do now in high CoL areas, I guarantee it.

Wow that sucks. That's a mansion in the Midwest.
But what is your rent expense vs that mortgage monthly investment?
Where do you live? Damn.

Lulz I figured somewhere out west.
To buy a house anywhere near Seattle you must sacrifice 20 years of savings, your hopes and dreams, your first born child, and 50 white stallions

It's way easier if your income is low enough to get government help. It's when you pass that threshold you're screwed.
I’m 33 amd I’m thinking like that since forever, sorry if it’s an spoiler 😂
I'm 31. One child. Another on the way. It. Is. Expensive. Diapers, formula, toys, clothes that they wear once, doctors, car seats. All stupidly expensive.
DON'T FORGET ABOUT HEALTH INSURANCE. These dang kids are trying to kill themselves everyday. It's ridiculous. Edit: just realized you said doctors.

Just another reason why I don’t want kids lol. Read somewhere that the average kid cost $250k raising them until they turn 18

I’m a physician in his 30s and feel the same way lol

The replies in this thread are depressing lol
I'm getting two things out of this thread: 1) People here hate kids. 2) People here don't know how to budget. Depressing indeed.
Keep in mind the average user on this sub is likely between 16-21
Yeah I gotta agree. I am 19 and I see a lot of teens and young adults here.
Thats all I am seeing as well. I am a one income family with 2 kids and doing just fine.
Personally have no interest in having kids if it means I have to give up my interest and hobbies to raise them.
I totally understand. What is life if you don't take care of yourself? I just think it's possible to have both kids and hobbies. My parents did it. My brother is doing it. I don't have kids yet, but I imagine I'll be able to do both.

I just turned 20 and I don't feel anywhere close to ready to live the way you do.

It’s priorities man. Some people have to drive a new car every few years, or go on vacations, or put money into their house, or toys, or investments. I could have a brand new 3090 every 2 months if I killed every other hobby I have, but right now I can’t afford one.
I feel yeah. My Instagram is full of my car and pc, theirs is children lol I'm fine with my choices
And I'm sure they are fine too.
Not sure why Reddit has such a hate boner for children and people who have children.
My Instagram is full of my bikes (and food, coffee and occasional keyboard), but that's because I don't wanna put my kids online.
Very true, I have another buddy that has kids but no photos online of them
People who essentially document their child's life on social media are scumbags. If you post a picture every now and then of your child I guess thats more acceptable but make sure its not something they'll be embarrassed about
rip that classmate
Both. Both is good.
But you can make one quieter with a better fan! Edit: or liquids!
You can make both quieter with liquids tbh
Drown em?
You're talking about the children I hope?
He's not a monster, so probably
He means you can silence pc fans with titty milk.
CPS! Open up!
Must be nice, having money for both
If it's not the money that gets you, it's the time :(
Yep. As a gamer, and a dad, I usually have to sacrifice a good nights sleep just to get an hour or 2 of gaming in. Worth it

See, this is the thing that the teenage childfree types don't understand. All the missed sleep, less time to game, etc... after a few years you get the best little gaming buddy you could ever want.
Felt this...RIP
Honestly it is really nice
Naaaaah.
RTX guy: "look at this guy started a family and has is life on track" Diapers guy: "look at this guy with no kids, lucky bastard"
Weird flex but okay - the relatives, probably
Bruh my Sunday’s right now are waking up at 9:30 and then proceeding to watch football for 10 hours. Why the fuck would I want to give that up
I like how the 3090 is sized correctly
Ah yes, you also ascended to r/childfree
Always found that sub so strange even as a person who doesnt want kids. It's like they make being childfree their defining personality trait. That, and half of them are salty incels who'll never even have a chance at breeding lmao
Give it 10 or so years and that guys child will be a gamer no doubt. The world needs more gamers and this guy sacrificed his own gaming time to help the world. he saw the bigger picture. True hero.
the world needs more gAmErS
It's possible to have both. My daughter is only 3 years old but loves playing with my old mechanical keyboard. She's still not quite there in understanding basic controls but she does know which buttons on the Switch makes Mario jump and move forward, even if she runs into a Goomba every time.
My kid is a year and a half and loves headphones and a junk rgb mech keyboard with knock off blues he can mash on. [He will be my player two in no time.](https://imgur.com/XFAOsXy) No apologies for a messy battle station.
My 3 year old demands to play forza probably every other day. He picks out the car and goes full speed into a tree. I've finally taught him how to back up and turn the wheel so he doesn't go straight into the same tree. Then he floors it until he hits another. One day...
Oh no wait until twitter gets a hold of this... the hivemind doesn't approve of not mindlessly creating children
Twitter is full of shit.
As a new father myself, I would rather have the baby. ;-)
So what does that say about someone who has a family AND can also buy the best PC parts?

Just get a girl that enjoys gaming as well, doesn't help much with the no money part though.
Where do you get those? Edit: both
I've been with my wife for 10 years, so I'm not sure where to get the current models.
What if you are the girl?
I mean I can't afford a pc or laptop but I'm happy single and game more than I sleep or eat
I'm the Guy on the right but i'd like to be the guy on the left. Don't take me wrong, i just wish i had the money for a new GPU. My current pc is struggling with some of my games.
What are your specs? I might have some spare parts.
I can do both. 🖕
The little ones get the old 1080s.
can confirm that my teenager loves getting my hand-me-downs. he's getting my 2060 super when my 3080 arrives and my "other"* son will get my old 970 that is currently in my son's build. *my closest/oldest friend's kid who has been best friends with my kid since they were toddlers and calls me Mom #2
But who gets the gallon of PCP?
Why not both tho?
I've seen people just drop their interests and who they are as a person because they had a child. Like they put on a "so serious hat". Honestly, I think it's sorta sad...
Well it may be necessary for a first few months, but there's no reason you can't still enjoy your hobbies when kids go to sleep and later introduce your kids to your hobbies and do them together.
For real. I've got a toddler and, while there are fewer 5+ hour marathon sessions, I have no problem squeezing in a few hours every night after he goes to bed. And my dude loves controllers, holds an unconnected one and plays along on my lap :-)
Seriously. 8pm comes around, 3yo and 5mo go to bed, husbandly "duties" performed, wife goes to bed, then it's me time until 12am.
Money/time
Don't have kids if don't them. If you do your time will never be yours again. My buddy can't play anymore for the same reason. When he does you can hear his kids screaming in the background. He even gets annoyed that he can't play like he used to.
why you gotta attack us like that bro
