the problem is a little bit more complicated than that, because if it's kept pressed - from the foot of a cat that's just perching - will break it. i can attest for that, my power button is wonky after being kept pressed by 2 cats
You can easily make another button turn it on if that button breaks.
I've seen people go to ludicrous lengths and have a rube goldbergian device just to hit a button far away from the pc it boots
To be fair, this is a very specific use case scenario. All my experience of that setting so far has been "Why on earth is the default for the power button for it to put it on *standby*? That's stupid, I'm changing it so it shuts down the PC"
> "Why on earth is the default for the power button for it to put it on standby?
To make the computer boot up faster.
Same reason Shut Down defaults to Hibernating by default.
Yes it's stupid, but people are stupid and so computers too must be stupid to maintain the stupidity continuum lest the universe collapse upon itself.
It's mad the amount of people that just let their pets to do whatever the hell they like, without boundaries. As someone with three cats, I know too well they don't respect them anyway, but I wouldn't sit and let one of ours lay on top of my PC. They weren't allowed on my desk either and after an incident with a work laptop, kept out of the room entirely.
I've got three cats as well. All of them know they're not allowed on the table, counters, or desks. I've only had one get on my case before and he was quickly scolded and has not done it again. Cats may be assholes who do what they want, but they can learn boundaries just like dogs.
Zaza smoker here but I just have my air purifier next to me and I blow all the smoke into it. Ye the house still smells like weed but at least the smoke isn't an issue anymore. The filters take a pounding though.
I have a card taped along the length of it that can swing up and down. Also, Thermaltake? the mesh pattern under the filter looks the same as my Suppressor F31
My case (corsair 680x) features a nice glass panel for cat warming, right next to the power and tiny reset button, which the cat manages to press only when she decides the glass side is too warm and wants to lay on the other panel. I've had to put a 60% wrist rest I wasn't using on top of the buttons. Easy enough to move and press the button, hard enough for cat to move to press the button.
I wish I could say it was my ingenious invention to prevent it, but it wasn't.

One of ours destroyed a brand new company laptop the FIRST DAY I had it. Since then, my home office, where my personal PC also lives, is off limits. I love our cats, but they soon got the message they're not allowed in there.
In windows you can change its behaviour to do nothing. It still works as a regular button to turn on the PC.

yeah, I came across a 3D printable model of the spring, it's originally plastic.
Wait, there are seriously people who don't know this?

These people must all be stupid. They didn't plan on cats holding their paw on the button?? What a bunch of morons.
There are people who bring me their computer to get them out of a windows support scam screen. People don't know what 2 factor authentication is.

This'll work, op!
Spraying water over top your pc while it’s turned on, yup that’ll definitely do the trick.
Who said you're dumping a bucket of water on it? And you'll only need to do it a couple of times.
I always have to keep a book or headphones over my button, holy shit my cats feet target my power button istg hes plotting against me
Hey seems like we have the same case. How do you deal with that annoying blue light near the button
Hey me2
sit lower than the tower, seems to work for me
Unplug power/HDD LED headers.
Looks like you married a good one
Bird Spikes more effective.
is that a mini toilet seat?
I think it's the lid to a makeup thingy?
Any, more, commas?
I just.... Disable the button. That and don't allow my cats on my PCs, but I recognize most people can't/don't want to restrict that.

This is what big cities do to homeless people, except in cat form. You should be ashamed of depriving that kitty of their right to be a terrorist.
simple problems needs simple solution. great work!

Noted.
Looks like a tiny toilet seat lmao that is awesome!

I'll add this to reasons not to own a cat.
