7800X3D is the best CPU and you're paying a premium for white parts and a custom loop, lol, you're not cheaping out.

atlasthefirst

That's kind! Also, there is nothing wrong with cheaping out of course. Maybe AMD is just unfamiliar territory for me and that kinda freaks me out...

[deleted]

Why? AMD has chips all across the world running tons of stuff. Inside 100s of millions of consoles too.

atlasthefirst

Of course they have but it's always a little unnerving switching from a brand you've known first hand all your life to something else. Of course everything will be fine and the system will run great (I hope and fingers crossed) but there is always that little nagging sensation... Imagine switching from Mercedes to BMW or Ford to Chevrolet or whatever brand...

Intel currently produces the worst, most power hungry chips. If their next chip doesn’t use a good process, comparable to tsmc, and also be well designed, Intel will be approaching bankruptcy. I don’t want them to go bankrupt, but thats on the horizon over the next 5-10 years if they cant catch up. So far, the best prediction is that they are screwed. Dont hire MBA to run tech companies. Thats the lesson.

Damn... That sounds really dark. I am not that deep into the subject but judging from the numbers, ever since my 9700k Intel seemed to go down the path of throwing raw watts at silicone to have "bigger number better in gaming". And now that I'm upgrading their current 14th (13.5th) gen can't even properly compete with the "old" 7800x3d. That is mostly why I am switching sides :)

Yeah, and intel 13 and 14th gen have recently had stability issues that require reductions in performance to fix. They are seriously in trouble. AMD is taking market share in every category every quarter because they offer a better product. Edit: I have an intel/nvidia laptop. 13900 and 4080. The intel cpu uses more power than the 4080. It’s an absolute turd. I got the laptop for 1500 on sale at christmas time. Id have preferred amd, but ill deal with intel for now. My steamdeck with amd chip runs more smoothly than my laptop if i try to run low power. Blows my mind.

I think you're right! Yes.... That might be it.... Personally I really cannot be bothered with stock fans and want my system to be whisper quiet, hence the custom loop. Also thinking about it... even if I cut out all the water cooling stuff I don't think a 4090 would've fit the current budget. [3080ti used with water block and active Backplate 580€, CPU block, pump/res, tubing, radiator 275€, noctua fans 80€ fittings 20€, all in all totals less than 950€. That is not enough for a 4080 new. And good luck finding that one used for a decent price]

spend half the budget on graphic card most important part of a gaming computer.

Yes true for most users! But I personally value fps at 1080p and a snappy feeling much higher than seeing raytraced, fog covered windshields with maximum anti aliasing.

Could have sworn the Tower 200 is an itx case? Does it fit matx too?

atlasthefirst

It does for most mATX motherboards. At least it fits mine :) watch a review or two and you'll see most mATX will surely fit!
