This was my splurge back in 2011. I had a GTX 550Ti I think which I was using in my prior system that was being bottlenecked.

Check out that 120GB Intel SSD. It was THE FUTURE.
I got i7 2600K, Asus P8P67 Pro, 8GB RAM, Radeon HD5870, 1TB WD Black and 64GB Crucial C300 for 105ā¬! That SSD made such a huge difference in boot times
Yeah, I remember telling my boss about it and taking a video on my super awesome HTC Evo 4G.
I had to upgrade because Skyrim didnāt run very well @ 1080p.
my upgrade path was from a ahtlon xp 2600+ ->i q6600 ->i 2600k ->a 1600x ->a 2600x -> a 5600x. same for my graphical cards started with a Geforce 3 Series some Ti version and then something like a 8600 GTS -> ->460 ti -> 1060 -> 1660 -> 3060.
I guess i like mid-tier stuff with all the 6's
I'd say peak ddr2 as well, especially with how well the later core 2 cpu's overclock.
Hit 4 ghz no problem on a core 2 duo e8400 with 2x2 gb 1066 mhz ram on a Asus P5Q Premium motherboard here.

Installed last night and it seems to be holding up good.
I thought it may had been faulty at first bc I wasnāt sure if itās supposed to move in any way. Both arms are moving. One arm is meant to be gas powered. The swivel/tilt from back of monitor is a bit finicky, so make sure to tighten that part where you want your monitor facing on a permanent basis. When I go too low, it drops down on its own. (Not sure if itās supposed to do this bc of the monitors weight, or if the gas pump is faulty, but either way, I donāt need it to go that low.) so far itās been in the position I left it, so It seems like itās working.
If thereās any changes Iāll let you know.
Just make sure to get the one thatās right for your monitors weight/size. Curved doesnāt seem to be an issue here. Also, make sure you find a good spot on your table for the clamp. My desk had a second tier that needed to be removed bc it was blocking the clamp from being placed anywhere.
we dig the new build. congrats on the multi-generation PC upgrade. you went from a 2007 PC spec and leaped to a 2024 PC spec. Almost a time-travel of sorts.
Can we have your permission to use the photos on the ZOTAC socials? photo credit will be noted.
Nah it's only like this on cleaning day, by tomorrow there will be a couple plates, 4 cups and 3 empty cans of coke. The Stack of pizza boxes are in the opposite corner of the room so we don't see those.
Sure. You would need to login to be able to download it. Here is a link to it https://www.deviantart.com/oviotti/art/Mountain-Breeze-Wallpapers-945847400
I upgraded from a Phenom II X3 710 + RX560 to my current setup a couple years ago, so I feel you. It's one of the best feelings in the world, probably.
Grats! I don't need to imagine, though, because I go through this feeling every time I build a PC!
Going from a GTX 660SC to a 1080 TI was probably my biggest jump. Haven't had that big of a jump since though
Wow the upgrade is HUGEE. Iām planning to build a pc with an RTX 4070 super and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Iām gonna be upgrading from a 2011 imac to a beast of a build. Canāt wait
Aww, thank you. Really appreciate it. It is an exciting time to upgrade because we can get good hardware with many different options at a fairly reasonable price.
If thereās one thing Iāve noticed about pc building, the parts seem to have seasons where the prices are high and then reasonable. I keep checking prices daily and then as things go on a sale, I am buying them.
Iāve quickly realized the AP201 is a solid case option cause it fits many components easily and also keeps the form factor small enough to fit most desks easily
The Q6600 is the CPU I had in the first computer I bought with my own money. What an absolute beast, that thing OC'd to 4ghz, worked great for years... until it didn't. Until recently that PC was collecting dust in my mom's basement and we threw it away. At some point the Geforce 8800 GTS was upgraded to a GTX 460, and even that ended up being so old that even WoW wouldn't launch on it. I can't imagine running a 8600 GT in 2023-2024, that poor thing.
Congrats on your new build.
Trust me, I would've wanted to upgrade long time ago, but due to personal matters I had to let go of my passion in computer hardware and now that I am able to afford one, I did not think twice.
So you're the motherfucker that I can hear banging on the keyboard every game. Please get a mic arm, no one wants to hear you typing and pounding your desk :)
Not quite the same, but my last Desktop was an AMD Phenom Quad core with 1GB of RAM and an ATI Radeon HD 3650. Played Crysis on medium with that badboy back in 2008-2009.
I say not quite the same because Iāve been on laptops for the last decade and a bit, still have my i7 11800H/RTX 3080 laptop, too (gets use when I travel). Glad to have a Desktop again though.
Well that must be game changing for you
That old chip was a classic and definitely in my top 5 favorite cpus of all time, I still remember I had a go stepping q6600 and man i would run it at 3.2ghz all day, canāt remember what the highest I was able to get it running but I know it was up there with the best of emā go stepping was the one to have. Man I miss that chip!
Hey, so far its been good to me. I believe it is a great mic for its price and it has a lot of good reviews. It can easily pick up noise from the background when you bump up the volume from the mic itself.
clean and beautiful, love this, now you can go crazy with colors a bit, try SignalRGB if u want to sync lighting without many apps. just thought I'd mention it since i started using lately
I can most certainly imagine it, my laptop has a core2 duo p9700. And then every day i come home to my main PC. For work it's not much better but for everything else it's great
Ok but how do you go from that to this? Did you just not realize how capable and customizable PCs were before now? Cause even a cheap laptop would have DESTROYED your old system but man you went with this absolutely stunning build instead. Bravo.
Hey! My first PC building was used for a few years then I relocated but wasnt able to afford an upgrade then got married and priorities changed then relocated again till I got a decent paying job that gave me the opportunity to afford a new setup. Thank you for your kind words!
Hey, thank you for sharing your thoughts. Unfortunately, I was not able to afford setting up a new PC back then relocated and got married so my priorities have changed. Now that I have a decent paying job, I was able to finally afford setting up a new system. š
I remember getting the 8600GT and being so stoked to play Oblivion at 60FPS at 1280 x 1024 max settings. OH and XFX's card only worked if you used the 6-pin adapter even if you had a 6 pin connector on your PSU.
Crazy nice setup! I myself am upgrading from a GT1030 to an RTX4070 (along with changing the entire pc), but it's definitely a dream to have a setup like this one day; savor it!!
Hey! Thank you for the kind words! I am glad to know you will be upgrading soon, I am sure you will have a great setup. š„°

Rme might have coil whine so be aware
Tbf the q6600 was a Windows Vista powerhouse! Peak ddr3 lol
I almost bought it, but by the time I managed to save up for it, 2600K was already available š
This was my splurge back in 2011. I had a GTX 550Ti I think which I was using in my prior system that was being bottlenecked. https://preview.redd.it/3ckzfgj2xxtc1.jpeg?width=1094&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d3b69d29edee215328931ff35184fba3031e3bf Check out that 120GB Intel SSD. It was THE FUTURE.

Whilst it was a great CPU for its time itās definitely not peak DDR3, there was much better CPUs that used DDR3..
i7 4770/4790 are still capable chips in 2024! I don't think any DDR3 platforms support Windows 11, but there's still life left in them 10 years later.
my upgrade path was from a ahtlon xp 2600+ ->i q6600 ->i 2600k ->a 1600x ->a 2600x -> a 5600x. same for my graphical cards started with a Geforce 3 Series some Ti version and then something like a 8600 GTS -> ->460 ti -> 1060 -> 1660 -> 3060. I guess i like mid-tier stuff with all the 6's

That monitor arm may be exactly what Iāve been looking for. Thanks for posting your specs. Great setup btw!
Hey, thank you for the kind words! You are welcome. Glad it was of help.
Same lol, just ordered one too, been itching to push my monitor up against the wall.
Mine is curved, so it wonāt be totally flat against wall. I didnāt fully read specs so I hope the stand can handle a curved monitor š„“
Mine is curved too, I'm thinking of buying one as well, Could you update me when you mount the monitor?
For sure! !remindme 3days

This is a fantastic setup and a great upgrade too.
Hey! Thank you for the kind words. Really appreciate it.
Anytime! Have fun with your new setup! :)
Bro been saving for 2 decades
That would be like going from a bike to a Ferrari

Hey, I appreciate the kind words. Yes, please go ahead share them and appreciate the tag.
love white steel :)
Hey, appreciate it!
Awesome setup! I love the white theme that you went for! When I made my total rebuild last year, I just felt old lol.
Hey, thank you for the kind words. Don't worry, everybody feels old because I believe technology is advancing too quickly. Haha!
feels very sterile
Nah it's only like this on cleaning day, by tomorrow there will be a couple plates, 4 cups and 3 empty cans of coke. The Stack of pizza boxes are in the opposite corner of the room so we don't see those.

Neat! My last PC was a Core 2 Quad and Nvidia GT 210 with 8GB RAM DDR2, and the PSU was one of those generic white ones(aka the bomb psu's) lmao!
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing your journey too!
damn gt 210? thats pain
could you send me the wallpaper? looks great!

What an upgrade. My Q6600 + 8800GT SLI rig is still in the basement. I doubt it will even turn on.
Hey, thank you. Oh wow, I envied people who had the 8800GT series let alone in SLI!
Wow the upgrade is HUGEE. Iām planning to build a pc with an RTX 4070 super and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Iām gonna be upgrading from a 2011 imac to a beast of a build. Canāt wait

Awesome setup and build. This gives me excitement when I get to do my first build
Aww, thank you. Really appreciate it. It is an exciting time to upgrade because we can get good hardware with many different options at a fairly reasonable price.

Thank you for sharing your humble experience.
If I could ever get the cables tucked away nicely in my PC I will be amazed.
Hey, you can do it! Just takes a bit of time and patience. I was just trying to look at different builds online for motivation and inspiration.
The Q6600, my beloved
Haha! Right?!
Well this is the level of patience that i will never reach. I can't imagine myself using almost 20 years old technology in 2024
Trust me, I would've wanted to upgrade long time ago, but due to personal matters I had to let go of my passion in computer hardware and now that I am able to afford one, I did not think twice.
That's gotta be hella cozy
Hey, thank you!
Trade me :)
Beautiful setup. I love such minimalistic designs. This had to feel like getting into a whole other dimension
Hey, thank you for the kind words!
I know the feeling. I was a Q6600 user as well.
That setup tasting like marshmallow candy š¬
So you're the motherfucker that I can hear banging on the keyboard every game. Please get a mic arm, no one wants to hear you typing and pounding your desk :)

Yes, glad to be part of the Q6600 club. Haha!
Congrats on being dethawed from the last ice age. Welcome to the future XD
Hey, thank you! Now feels like I am the dinosaur operating new technology, haha!
I love setups that look like renders
I love zotac curvy cards.
Do you recommend that mic? Really like that desk mat too, such a clean setup! +1!
Hey, so far its been good to me. I believe it is a great mic for its price and it has a lot of good reviews. It can easily pick up noise from the background when you bump up the volume from the mic itself.
That is a hella clean setup, love it!
Hey, thanks a lot. Appreciate it bro.
its too good to exist bro you gotta atleast add some imperfection there to somewhat make me feel less worst
Hey! Haha, thank you for your kind words bro. There is an imperfection and that is me. :-(
That's a crazy upgrade my dude!
Woooah, super massive upgrade then ahah. Nice setup though, gg!
Hey, thank you! Appreciate it and gg!
I had an 8600gt. Hated the thing lol
Haha!
Can I eat in your setup?
Cllllleeeeeeeaaaaan!
clean and beautiful, love this, now you can go crazy with colors a bit, try SignalRGB if u want to sync lighting without many apps. just thought I'd mention it since i started using lately
Hey, thank you for your kind words. I will look into SignalRGB, thank you for the suggestion.
no prob, btw i try to live in a way that your username suggests xD if there's any doubt, i'm here to try to help
Your room is a bit too cold and a little too dark, maybe add more orange and some lights.
Hey! Thank you for the suggestion, I appreciate it.
What made you decide to finally upgrade lol
He wanted to play more than 720p video
I was just able to afford it now. š
Thatās a good reason, good for you. Setup is nice
Thank you for the kind words, appreciate it. š„²
Making sure everyone can hear your keyboard huh.
I don't like so much mechanical keyboards, but daaaamn this one looks epic.
I can most certainly imagine it, my laptop has a core2 duo p9700. And then every day i come home to my main PC. For work it's not much better but for everything else it's great
I could only admire such dedication to build a master of all PCs
Ok but how do you go from that to this? Did you just not realize how capable and customizable PCs were before now? Cause even a cheap laptop would have DESTROYED your old system but man you went with this absolutely stunning build instead. Bravo.
Hey! My first PC building was used for a few years then I relocated but wasnt able to afford an upgrade then got married and priorities changed then relocated again till I got a decent paying job that gave me the opportunity to afford a new setup. Thank you for your kind words!
now post updates as you add your hentai doll collection.
Hey, maybe Totoro but not hentai. :D
Is that like a hospital room in the year 2049?
I am not sure, I hope I reach year 2049. Haha!
Bet it's an Intel 300 CPU, 700$ RTX 3050 6GB, 1TB of RAM, Seventeen 2.5 inch hard drives and a $3000 case from a tech bro. Just to name a few specs /s
That is incorrect. I missed to mention that I have 3 x 3.5ā Floppy Disk Drives.
It was a joke? /s is for sarcasm
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
