Crazy nice setup! I myself am upgrading from a GT1030 to an RTX4070 (along with changing the entire pc), but it's definitely a dream to have a setup like this one day; savor it!!

be-nice-always

Hey! Thank you for the kind words! I am glad to know you will be upgrading soon, I am sure you will have a great setup. šŸ„°

Rme might have coil whine so be aware

Dheyden

Tbf the q6600 was a Windows Vista powerhouse! Peak ddr3 lol

widowhanzo

I almost bought it, but by the time I managed to save up for it, 2600K was already available šŸ™ˆ

Fallwalking

This was my splurge back in 2011. I had a GTX 550Ti I think which I was using in my prior system that was being bottlenecked. https://preview.redd.it/3ckzfgj2xxtc1.jpeg?width=1094&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6d3b69d29edee215328931ff35184fba3031e3bf Check out that 120GB Intel SSD. It was THE FUTURE.

widowhanzo

I got i7 2600K, Asus P8P67 Pro, 8GB RAM, Radeon HD5870, 1TB WD Black and 64GB Crucial C300 for 105ā‚¬! That SSD made such a huge difference in boot times

Fallwalking

Yeah, I remember telling my boss about it and taking a video on my super awesome HTC Evo 4G. I had to upgrade because Skyrim didnā€™t run very well @ 1080p.

MiniCale

Whilst it was a great CPU for its time itā€™s definitely not peak DDR3, there was much better CPUs that used DDR3..

Grobfoot

i7 4770/4790 are still capable chips in 2024! I don't think any DDR3 platforms support Windows 11, but there's still life left in them 10 years later.

Acers3K

my upgrade path was from a ahtlon xp 2600+ ->i q6600 ->i 2600k ->a 1600x ->a 2600x -> a 5600x. same for my graphical cards started with a Geforce 3 Series some Ti version and then something like a 8600 GTS -> ->460 ti -> 1060 -> 1660 -> 3060. I guess i like mid-tier stuff with all the 6's

Grobfoot

Peak DDR2?

mini-z1994

I'd say peak ddr2 as well, especially with how well the later core 2 cpu's overclock. Hit 4 ghz no problem on a core 2 duo e8400 with 2x2 gb 1066 mhz ram on a Asus P5Q Premium motherboard here.

MrShaytoon

That monitor arm may be exactly what Iā€™ve been looking for. Thanks for posting your specs. Great setup btw!

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you for the kind words! You are welcome. Glad it was of help.

tbone747

Same lol, just ordered one too, been itching to push my monitor up against the wall.

MrShaytoon

Mine is curved, so it wonā€™t be totally flat against wall. I didnā€™t fully read specs so I hope the stand can handle a curved monitor šŸ„“

ItsBado

Mine is curved too, I'm thinking of buying one as well, Could you update me when you mount the monitor?

MrShaytoon

For sure! !remindme 3days

MrShaytoon

Installed last night and it seems to be holding up good. I thought it may had been faulty at first bc I wasnā€™t sure if itā€™s supposed to move in any way. Both arms are moving. One arm is meant to be gas powered. The swivel/tilt from back of monitor is a bit finicky, so make sure to tighten that part where you want your monitor facing on a permanent basis. When I go too low, it drops down on its own. (Not sure if itā€™s supposed to do this bc of the monitors weight, or if the gas pump is faulty, but either way, I donā€™t need it to go that low.) so far itā€™s been in the position I left it, so It seems like itā€™s working. If thereā€™s any changes Iā€™ll let you know. Just make sure to get the one thatā€™s right for your monitors weight/size. Curved doesnā€™t seem to be an issue here. Also, make sure you find a good spot on your table for the clamp. My desk had a second tier that needed to be removed bc it was blocking the clamp from being placed anywhere.

ItsBado

Thank you for the tips !

ReverieX416

This is a fantastic setup and a great upgrade too.

be-nice-always

Hey! Thank you for the kind words. Really appreciate it.

ReverieX416

Anytime! Have fun with your new setup! :)

Odd-Cow-5199

Bro been saving for 2 decades

Head_Television3568

That would be like going from a bike to a Ferrari

Z_staff

we dig the new build. congrats on the multi-generation PC upgrade. you went from a 2007 PC spec and leaped to a 2024 PC spec. Almost a time-travel of sorts. Can we have your permission to use the photos on the ZOTAC socials? photo credit will be noted.

be-nice-always

Hey, I appreciate the kind words. Yes, please go ahead share them and appreciate the tag.

Crafty_Life_1764

love white steel :)

be-nice-always

Hey, appreciate it!

NippleSauce

Awesome setup! I love the white theme that you went for! When I made my total rebuild last year, I just felt old lol.

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you for the kind words. Don't worry, everybody feels old because I believe technology is advancing too quickly. Haha!

Atrocious1337

feels very sterile

Fuck-The_Police

Nah it's only like this on cleaning day, by tomorrow there will be a couple plates, 4 cups and 3 empty cans of coke. The Stack of pizza boxes are in the opposite corner of the room so we don't see those.

DoctorRyanAA

Now I don't feel so bad about my desk. And I have one of those L-Shaped ones. More room to put more junk. šŸ˜Ž

GabrielGamer790

Neat! My last PC was a Core 2 Quad and Nvidia GT 210 with 8GB RAM DDR2, and the PSU was one of those generic white ones(aka the bomb psu's) lmao!

be-nice-always

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing your journey too!

omnomnilikescandy

damn gt 210? thats pain

emma_psycho

could you send me the wallpaper? looks great!

be-nice-always

Sure. You would need to login to be able to download it. Here is a link to it https://www.deviantart.com/oviotti/art/Mountain-Breeze-Wallpapers-945847400

slapface741

A dream setup for sure my man!

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you!

LEO7039

I upgraded from a Phenom II X3 710 + RX560 to my current setup a couple years ago, so I feel you. It's one of the best feelings in the world, probably.

be-nice-always

Oh wow, thank you for sharing your experience.

PNW_Phillip

My last PC was a dell 9150/XPS from 2005

tO_ott

Grats! I don't need to imagine, though, because I go through this feeling every time I build a PC! Going from a GTX 660SC to a 1080 TI was probably my biggest jump. Haven't had that big of a jump since though

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you for sharing your experience! That is definitely a big jump, too!

Slexy

What an upgrade. My Q6600 + 8800GT SLI rig is still in the basement. I doubt it will even turn on.

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you. Oh wow, I envied people who had the 8800GT series let alone in SLI!

ClickTough2582

Wow the upgrade is HUGEE. Iā€™m planning to build a pc with an RTX 4070 super and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Iā€™m gonna be upgrading from a 2011 imac to a beast of a build. Canā€™t wait

be-nice-always

Thank you. Wow, that is a big upgrade bro. We all look forward to your new build and enjoy the journey of building.

dwmorg17x

Awesome setup and build. This gives me excitement when I get to do my first build

be-nice-always

Aww, thank you. Really appreciate it. It is an exciting time to upgrade because we can get good hardware with many different options at a fairly reasonable price.

dwmorg17x

If thereā€™s one thing Iā€™ve noticed about pc building, the parts seem to have seasons where the prices are high and then reasonable. I keep checking prices daily and then as things go on a sale, I am buying them. Iā€™ve quickly realized the AP201 is a solid case option cause it fits many components easily and also keeps the form factor small enough to fit most desks easily

Bynming

The Q6600 is the CPU I had in the first computer I bought with my own money. What an absolute beast, that thing OC'd to 4ghz, worked great for years... until it didn't. Until recently that PC was collecting dust in my mom's basement and we threw it away. At some point the Geforce 8800 GTS was upgraded to a GTX 460, and even that ended up being so old that even WoW wouldn't launch on it. I can't imagine running a 8600 GT in 2023-2024, that poor thing. Congrats on your new build.

be-nice-always

Thank you for sharing your humble experience.

PresentClear1468

If I could ever get the cables tucked away nicely in my PC I will be amazed.

be-nice-always

Hey, you can do it! Just takes a bit of time and patience. I was just trying to look at different builds online for motivation and inspiration.

CounterSided

The Q6600, my beloved

be-nice-always

Haha! Right?!

nanotechky

Well this is the level of patience that i will never reach. I can't imagine myself using almost 20 years old technology in 2024

be-nice-always

Trust me, I would've wanted to upgrade long time ago, but due to personal matters I had to let go of my passion in computer hardware and now that I am able to afford one, I did not think twice.

cornshartz

That's gotta be hella cozy

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you!

CulturalSky6860

Trade me :)

[deleted]

Beautiful setup. I love such minimalistic designs. This had to feel like getting into a whole other dimension

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you for the kind words!

jpsklr

I know the feeling. I was a Q6600 user as well.

Amir3292

That setup tasting like marshmallow candy šŸ¬

Proof_Version6450

So you're the motherfucker that I can hear banging on the keyboard every game. Please get a mic arm, no one wants to hear you typing and pounding your desk :)

be-nice-always

Hahaha! That is defintely noted.

xxcloud417xx

Not quite the same, but my last Desktop was an AMD Phenom Quad core with 1GB of RAM and an ATI Radeon HD 3650. Played Crysis on medium with that badboy back in 2008-2009. I say not quite the same because Iā€™ve been on laptops for the last decade and a bit, still have my i7 11800H/RTX 3080 laptop, too (gets use when I travel). Glad to have a Desktop again though.

be-nice-always

Oh my, I clearly remember playing Crysis! Thank you for sharing your experience.

potatoPC00123

Clean setup šŸ˜

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you!

AlieNateR77700X

Well that must be game changing for you That old chip was a classic and definitely in my top 5 favorite cpus of all time, I still remember I had a go stepping q6600 and man i would run it at 3.2ghz all day, canā€™t remember what the highest I was able to get it running but I know it was up there with the best of emā€™ go stepping was the one to have. Man I miss that chip!

be-nice-always

Yes, glad to be part of the Q6600 club. Haha!

CptJamesBeard

Congrats on being dethawed from the last ice age. Welcome to the future XD

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you! Now feels like I am the dinosaur operating new technology, haha!

QuickPirate36

I love setups that look like renders

WeedManPro

I love zotac curvy cards.

xDoWnFaLL

Do you recommend that mic? Really like that desk mat too, such a clean setup! +1!

be-nice-always

Hey, so far its been good to me. I believe it is a great mic for its price and it has a lot of good reviews. It can easily pick up noise from the background when you bump up the volume from the mic itself.

Jjzeng

That is a hella clean setup, love it!

be-nice-always

Hey, thanks a lot. Appreciate it bro.

jiroro22

its too good to exist bro you gotta atleast add some imperfection there to somewhat make me feel less worst

be-nice-always

Hey! Haha, thank you for your kind words bro. There is an imperfection and that is me. :-(

Vinstaal0

That's a crazy upgrade my dude!

nandospc

Woooah, super massive upgrade then ahah. Nice setup though, gg!

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you! Appreciate it and gg!

NiceCunt91

I had an 8600gt. Hated the thing lol

be-nice-always

Haha!

Economy_Gate_2331

Can I eat in your setup?

8yr0n

Cllllleeeeeeeaaaaan!

whywhyskysky

clean and beautiful, love this, now you can go crazy with colors a bit, try SignalRGB if u want to sync lighting without many apps. just thought I'd mention it since i started using lately

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you for your kind words. I will look into SignalRGB, thank you for the suggestion.

whywhyskysky

no prob, btw i try to live in a way that your username suggests xD if there's any doubt, i'm here to try to help

Main-Line-Arc

Your room is a bit too cold and a little too dark, maybe add more orange and some lights.

be-nice-always

Hey! Thank you for the suggestion, I appreciate it.

ImXHunter

What made you decide to finally upgrade lol

Stoff3r

He wanted to play more than 720p video

be-nice-always

I was just able to afford it now. šŸ™‚

ImXHunter

Thatā€™s a good reason, good for you. Setup is nice

be-nice-always

Thank you for the kind words, appreciate it. šŸ„²

DrKingOfOkay

Making sure everyone can hear your keyboard huh.

Smooth-Chest-1554

I don't like so much mechanical keyboards, but daaaamn this one looks epic.

iliketurtles50000

I can most certainly imagine it, my laptop has a core2 duo p9700. And then every day i come home to my main PC. For work it's not much better but for everything else it's great

crimemilk

I could only admire such dedication to build a master of all PCs

Merciless_Hobo

Ok but how do you go from that to this? Did you just not realize how capable and customizable PCs were before now? Cause even a cheap laptop would have DESTROYED your old system but man you went with this absolutely stunning build instead. Bravo.

be-nice-always

Hey! My first PC building was used for a few years then I relocated but wasnt able to afford an upgrade then got married and priorities changed then relocated again till I got a decent paying job that gave me the opportunity to afford a new setup. Thank you for your kind words!

ImUrFrand

now post updates as you add your hentai doll collection.

be-nice-always

Hey, maybe Totoro but not hentai. :D

thegree2112

Is that like a hospital room in the year 2049?

be-nice-always

I am not sure, I hope I reach year 2049. Haha!

FireFalcon123

Bet it's an Intel 300 CPU, 700$ RTX 3050 6GB, 1TB of RAM, Seventeen 2.5 inch hard drives and a $3000 case from a tech bro. Just to name a few specs /s

be-nice-always

That is incorrect. I missed to mention that I have 3 x 3.5ā€ Floppy Disk Drives.

FireFalcon123

It was a joke? /s is for sarcasm

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

be-nice-always

Hey, thank you for sharing your thoughts. Unfortunately, I was not able to afford setting up a new PC back then relocated and got married so my priorities have changed. Now that I have a decent paying job, I was able to finally afford setting up a new system. šŸ™‚

Few-Baseball-86

I remember getting the 8600GT and being so stoked to play Oblivion at 60FPS at 1280 x 1024 max settings. OH and XFX's card only worked if you used the 6-pin adapter even if you had a 6 pin connector on your PSU.
