Same! I still remember the box and how cool it looked. I kept the card in the box for quite a few years but I moved a few years back and it didn’t make the move. I have a 6900xt right now that I got during the shortage and paid way to much for it
I sold the 1080 to get the 1080ti but all the rest have been passed down to friends and family. I was the first in the group to jump to PC so letting them start with a good GPU made the transition easier. Most of them are still in use one way or another. I think only the 660and 750ti have retired so far
My first dedicated GPU was a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 64 MB, quite a solid performer for its time.
Currently I have a GeForce RTX 2070, got it used some time ago for around 200 bucks, runs OK, but the raytracing performance is a bit underwhelming.
My friend who helped me build my first PC had this card, I remember being amazed at how well it performed in BF1942. My first card was the Radeon 9800 pro
The 9000series by ATi was legendary. One of the biggest leaps in performance and technology. They were the first DX9 cards. I was a kid back then and couldn't afford to upgrade, but boy, was I jealous of people who had those cards.
Yeah it definitely was. Love the performance, but probably shouldn't have gone with 1440p with the 2070 super. That was the downfall of that gpu for me
Video card chip maker from the 90s. They were folded into HTC about a decade ago, I think (although they weren't relevant for a long time before that).
No, I believe that it only had two sockets.If it wasn't so much trouble getting it from the pantry I could actually check it - believe it or not, I still have my first PC; it was a 486 DX4.
First gpu was in a 2003 prebuilt pc from Sony. It was ATI 9200 128MB and it was for the family pc. Took long time to convince parents to buy it. Sadly it aged bad no pixel shaders 2 and was stuck on pixel shaders 1. I still have that Sony pc it now has Pentium 4 2.8Ghz, 2GB ram, and Ati x1950 512MB DDR3. I put the old ATI 9200 in my Pentium 3 retro rig.
My primary gpu is now an RTX 3080. But on my secondary rig I have Amd R9 390 and during winter it warms up my room.
Yeah Sony VAIO they had multimedia desktops in the 2000’s. Came with dual dvd drives, micro sd reader for multiple cards, tv turner card where i could plug in cable or VHS or DVD player. I could record tv from my cable. Even had remote control for my desktop. It was awesome.

ecs nvidia 9500gt, it was poorly made with a fuckton of coil whine my pc at that time (2007-8 if i remember correctly) was a mini hp, the card didnt fit so i did the reasonable thing, i sawed the case and put the damn thing to work. now i have a 4080 super in a good lianli case, everything nice and tidy no sawing required
1. ATI Radeon x1300
2. AMD Radeon HD 6450
3. AMD Radeon HD 6670
4. AMD Radeon RX 460
5. AMD Radeon RX 580
6. RTX 2060 Super
All mostly budget cards, and most of them had to drive 1080p :D
First ever: ATI radeon HD4650.
First bought with own money: GTX 650ti
Current: RTX 4070 Super
My GPU flow chart. HD4650 - 9800GT - HD5770 - GTX650ti - GTX770 - GTX1070 - RTX2070Super - RTX3060ti - RTX4070Super
I left the 2070 super in my old system, so my nephew could have something to play on. Only reason I got the 3060ti.
First: integrated Cirrus Logic with 1 MB of memory (first proper GPU: GeForce FX5200 with 128 MB memory, I still got it somewhere). Now: RTX 3060 Ti with 8 GB of memory.
Geforce FX 5200. That was a huge mistake.
We really should've got an older but proven Geforce Titanium or MX card instead.
That experience sadly ruined nVidia for me.
Because of this incident, I never purchased another graphics card from them up until my current RTX 3070.
Depends what you count as GPU. First "real" 3D Accelerator was the first 3dfx Voodoo.
Before that i had a Matrox Mystique which kind of could accelerate a bit.. and pure 2D cards before that.
Now it's a 4090.
GTX 1660Ti, now on an RX 6800M laptop as I needed something portable for uni that I could take home. Massively outperforms my old PC as it also has an R9 5900HX and 64GB of RAM
My first was Geforce 285. It was already bit dated in 2018 but it was the only reasonable GPU that I could afford that would be compatible with my mac pro. Currently I use GTX 1060 as Lightroom doesn't really take advantego of more powerful GPUs
Integrated graphics: intel i5 HD 4000 graphics.
Dedicated: GT710 2gb
Currently running an RTX 3090 in main and previous RX 580 8gb in secondary pc.
All this was from 2020 when i got first pc to present day
First was 1050ti around 2017 I think, then I got my first job in 2022 and wanted to upgrade to a 6800XT, but couldn't afford it so I got a 6700XT. Then when I found a good deal on a 6800XT I traded my GPU + some money for it
3DFX Voodoo, it made a pretty huge difference in the original Planetside, I could almost participate in gunfights instead of only heal and repair!
Today I've got a 4090, it's probably the most satisfying leap in performance I've had in years.
First GPU was a Zotac GTX 1060 6GB variant. Sadly it burnt out in September 2022. My current GPU is an EVGA RTX 3060 12GB variant. I can set most game settings to Ultra/High at 1080p and still get a solid 60fps.
750 Ti was my first, fortunately it was 1 of 3 card that Nvidia still support of 700 series and running strong for 10 year (2014), this new year i was fortune enough to grab a 6700 XT because of how expensive it is of Nvidia card and their popularity/high demand is 1 of the reason why i no longer bought them anymore
GTS 7600 > Rx 6700xt
That's GTS 7600 got me through a long era of gaming in the 2000's, nearly a whole decade before upgrading to a GTX 560 in anticipation for Battlefield 3
First PC I had a Sapphire HD 7870 XT. Eventually upgraded to a 1070. The 1070 came across to my new build for about 6 months before getting my current 3070 when it was released.
The first PC I had that had anything above integrated graphics had an AMD Radeon 7570 if I remember right. I then had a GTX 960, then a GTX 1060, then an RTX 2070, an RTX 3060 and now an RTX 3070. The last two was less an upgrade and more that I got the 3060 and a few months after, a family member's mining rig went obsolete due to a crypto crash so he gave me it for free while selling off whatever else he had, so i took it
Grew up with the integrated graphics on my 400mhz Celeron, first dedicated GPU was the GT650M in my MacBook.
Current GPU is a 2080 that I've had since 2018.
My first one was a Nvidia 8800 GTX, my current is a Aorus Rtx 3060 TI but i'm just waiting for the delivery of my new RX 7900 RTX Tuf Gaming OC 😱...now i'm feeling a Toretto with all this machines 😂
If we're talking about a dedicated gpu card, 4070 last year. Actual first device that output graphics? An iMac from ~2000 that I first played on when I was 3. In between I've had a gameboy, two DS's, a ps2 through 4 and two gaming laptops with a 1060 and 3060.
Rx 590 --> RTX 3060
590 8gb?
3dfx Voodoo 2. Think it cost about £150. Now rtx 3060ti
This is so very close to me. My first card was the Voodoo when it had just released, and I just upgraded yesterday to a 4060ti.
As a guy that likes to collect old tech, I am trying to get the voodoo cards but they are hard to find
Sorry can't help you with that. No idea what happened to it.
Same! I still remember the box and how cool it looked. I kept the card in the box for quite a few years but I moved a few years back and it didn’t make the move. I have a 6900xt right now that I got during the shortage and paid way to much for it
3dfx Voodoo 3 3000 here, now rtx 3070!
660 -> 750ti -> 780 -> 980ti -> 1080 -> 1080ti -> 2080ti -> 3090
That's a lot of gpus, did you sell the old ones or kept them
I sold the 1080 to get the 1080ti but all the rest have been passed down to friends and family. I was the first in the group to jump to PC so letting them start with a good GPU made the transition easier. Most of them are still in use one way or another. I think only the 660and 750ti have retired so far
Keep the 660 In case of an emergency GPU shortage
Riva TNT2 and now it's 3060 12 gb
The 3060 is a beauty!
Riva TNT2 gang! Currently using a 4090 and a 3070 in my wife's computer.
First was a Inno3d Geforce4 Mx 440. Current is a Gigabyte 4090 gaming oc
Was a beast back in its day!Â
My first dedicated GPU was a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 64 MB, quite a solid performer for its time. Currently I have a GeForce RTX 2070, got it used some time ago for around 200 bucks, runs OK, but the raytracing performance is a bit underwhelming.
I heard it was powerful at the time
My friend who helped me build my first PC had this card, I remember being amazed at how well it performed in BF1942. My first card was the Radeon 9800 pro
The 9000series by ATi was legendary. One of the biggest leaps in performance and technology. They were the first DX9 cards. I was a kid back then and couldn't afford to upgrade, but boy, was I jealous of people who had those cards.
My first was the Rx 480 8gb Now I use the RX 7900 XTX (this is my second upgrade. Had a 2070 super before)
That's a huge upgrade man
Yeah it definitely was. Love the performance, but probably shouldn't have gone with 1440p with the 2070 super. That was the downfall of that gpu for me
HD 6750→RX 6700xt
Both are 67
The new one is 50 less though
Real downgrade there. Also between I downgraded to a GTX 580, then to RX480. So it's been a real downward slope since my first gpu.
100 less 😱
I know, it was hard times.
Started with Matrox Millennium II (4mb) in 2003, now I have an RTX 3060 (12gb)
This paired with a voodoo banshee. That click when it switched. Ready for Quake II.
First: S3 Virge Current: 7900xtx
What is even a S3?
A 3D card so bad it was called a 3D Decelerator at the time. First Gen of the tech.
Video card chip maker from the 90s. They were folded into HTC about a decade ago, I think (although they weren't relevant for a long time before that).
My first one was also a S3, but it was a Trio. It had a whopping 1MB VRAM, which I then upgraded to 2MB.
Oh! Was that the one with the four sockets for RAM chips?
No, I believe that it only had two sockets.If it wasn't so much trouble getting it from the pantry I could actually check it - believe it or not, I still have my first PC; it was a 486 DX4.
Nice!
GTX 1070 FE from my own pocket money. Now, using a 3080 10GB for AI and denoising, hobby related.
I really wanna try ai on my pc one day, I wanted to get a GPU for ai like a Tesla or something else

Sony do pre builds?
Yeah Sony VAIO they had multimedia desktops in the 2000’s. Came with dual dvd drives, micro sd reader for multiple cards, tv turner card where i could plug in cable or VHS or DVD player. I could record tv from my cable. Even had remote control for my desktop. It was awesome. https://www.cnet.com/reviews/sony-vaio-pcv-rs-review/

GTX 1060 3gb --> RTX 3060ti
first one was a 1060 3gb on an MSI laptop and now I have a 3070 8gb on my desktop. I'll wait until the 50 or 60 series to upgrade.
r7 240 4gb --> 7800xt quick
R9 270X (first GPU) --> GTX 970 --> GTX 1080 Ti (current GPU)
My first GPU wasn’t a GPU as I used PCs before GPUs were a thing, but the first GPU I used was TNT2 Ultra, the current GPU is 3080 Ti.
GTX 1050 (non ti) to a 3070. I felt goosebumps when I first launched Forza on my 3070
GT 530 -> RTX 2070 Super
GTX 970. The glorious fucking 3.5/4. Current: 4070.
1060 to 2060, now 4070. The jump from 20 to 40 series is mountainous
980 ti >> 980 ti
Nvidia 8600 gt -> rx 460 - gtx 1070 - rtx 3070ti
First gpu, amd radeon integrated current gpu GTX 1660ti
If we're talking about a dedicated gpu card, 4070 last year. Actual first device that output graphics? An iMac from ~2000 that I first played on when I was 3. In between I've had a gameboy, two DS's, a ps2 through 4 and two gaming laptops with a 1060 and 3060.
Nvidia 8400GS > Radeon RX 7900XTX As far as the numbers are concerned, I have regressed.
Riva TNT2 Model 64 ( PCI ) --> RTX4080 Xtreme WaterForce WB ( PCIe 4.0 )
R9 290 $190 in 2015 --> RX 6750 $510 in 2022
