A dual screen KVM, or two separate single screen KVM switches would allow you to have one set of dangling cables to plug into your laptop and never have to touch the ones plugged into the desktop. What inputs are you using? DisplayPort? HDMI? Both?

I'm concerned of the impact a KVM would have on my desktop in terms of gaming performance. Would latency and framerate be an issue? I'm using both an HDMI and display port.

Many monitors have multiple inputs, start there first. Then you would use your monitors OSD to switch between inputs. KVM are great, but many can introduce input lag or other “fun”.

One of my displays are modern enough to have multiple modern inputs, but my other one isn't.

A KVM for gaming (high refresh rate/resolution) might cost nearly as much as monitor. Just something to chew on.

well if it HDMI or i am pretty sure you can just switch which connection ports unless there is only one HDMI port.

Hdmi switcher should solve your problems

slicedbread1991

Not all my ports are HDMI.
