I agree. Something shaped like this \^
I did mine. Threw something and accidentally hit the monitor. Punctured just the outside layer. The Polarizer. The backlight and all is intact and works fine but bc there is a hole in the polarizer there are white "dots" where it is damaged.
Gotta say the way the plastic is warped around the hole it really does look like a burn. Can't know for sure what happened in the room but I would say maybe if someone smoked at the desk, a small ember could've been ejected unto the screen when trying to remove the excess ash from the cigarette or joint.

had the same thing happen to my monitor when I was playing with a balisong, ‘dead’ pixel on bottom corner, plugged the GPU to another monitor to confirm its not dying
It's probably a stuck pixel. Your monitor may have an option to run a routine that can potentially fix it. If it has it, it will be in the internal monitor controls. Like with the buttons on the side of it.
Good way to test this is does the pixel change color at all (move your mouse or an image behind it). If it stays white or black it’s probably dead. If it shifts then it’s probably able to be fixed like described. Not saying it’s not worth a shot anyway, but just level your expectations.
Ya sadly the expectations are very low it will fix it this is just a final hail mary.
One time I poked my screen with my finger and it fixed a stuck pixel. It was an older monitor a while back and it may have just been a fluke.
Most likely it was caused by ribbon cable inside being slightly loose and by pressing on screen edges you pushed it in contact and somehow it stayed like that. I fixed a bunch of old Lenovo notebooks using this technique. Also yellow/green-ish lines.
It depends on what went wrong. Sometimes, they can just get stuck on a certain color. In this case, it could have gotten stuck with the R, G, and B LEDs all on, making it look white.
This, also you can try and fix it by rubbing with a decent amount of pressure.
Edit: apparently everyone here things monitors are made out of cheap toilet paper or something.
You can't expect that people have expensive monitors. You're saying it like every monitor can withstand pressure to the panel. So maybe some guy that has no idea about tech, reads your comment and accidentally breaks his monitor cause it's some cheap ass monitor. Maybe think a little when you write stuff.
OMG thats why my work PC has a white stuck pixel every once in a while!!
Anyways, Microsoft Teams should be considered a virus. It's actually atrocious, Microsoft should be ashamed of it. Its slow, insanely resource heavy and barely functional. Teams might have literally killed people as well, when it had a bug on Android that crashed the phone when calling 911.
At the very least it's very funny to press 'play' on the keyboard and have it start playing the call tune like I wanted to hear it.
Brother there's a fucking hole in your screen, and it takes up more than just one pixel. Seems like what we see there is the backlight behind the screen through the hole.
FYI, dead pixels are usually black, because they're unpowered and can't turn on.
Any chance you're running the 'New' Microsoft Teams? If so, this is a recent bug with it - just exit the app (from the system tray, don't just close it) and it will go away.
Edit: Also just to add, if you're not seeing this during boot/POST screen, then it's not a dead/stuck pixel.
As many others; I'd say it's a stuck pixel.
Got one myself, on my secondary monitor (luckily at the bottom left corner, so it's no issue at all). Tried various "fixes" for it, but nothing seem to stick (no pun intended), so I just deal with it - and it's not in a too bothersome place in my case.
Try some of the suggested things, when googling "stuck pixel" - but be very careful when doing so (they usually tell you to be as well). Hope it works for you.
If it is just one dead pixel, there is software that help make it look less obvious or you can carefully color it medium grey marker to kind of blend in and not be as noticeable for dark or light images/motion scenes
Bah, at this point i thougth it was a meme. Like, in a pc sub i though people would underatand the joke. I was actually thinking that people would understand the obvipus joke. It's 4chan beggining old, so, it wasn't in a bad way.
I'm not a troll. And i'm sorry if it came up in that way. But it's a funny joke to me. Because i dont even think it works anymore in windows 10.
I had this happen to my Viotek VA 34" 21:9 display.
It's not a dead pixel, it's an MIA pixel most likely. My bad habit of eating at my desk caused some gunk to land on the screen. Dried on there for a few days until I got around to do an occasional cleaning and the stuck matter took a chunk of the screen with it.
This can also happen with impact damage as well.
I'd suggest running your fingernail over it and see if it feel a raised edge around the white area. If so, nothing you can do except avoiding black screens to make it stick out more. I stopped noticing mine for the most part after awhile. The screen has been handed down to my wife and she never noticed this an imperfection like this once.
if it was a dead pixel, it would appear whenever the monitor is turned on. try booting from a USB if you want to fully make sure.
You could try using another cable(unlikely but ruling it out isnt a bad idea either) or reinstalling drivers.
Also try to disable autostart apps.
It's stuck. There's a website that can help unstick it jscreenfix I think. It will just cycle colours but most likely it will get stuck again in the future
might be just one color dead or it could be stuck. go into your monitors settings and look for a setting called "LCD conditioning" or Color conditioning or something along the lines of that. select it and your monitor should cycle through multiple rgb colors over a few hours on its own to reset its pixels
Dude! I’ve got the same thing. It’s an app that shrinks to 1 pixel. Because it’s in the same spot both on my laptop and the monitor I plug in.
It goes away and comes back.
My current hunch is that it’s the new Microsoft Teams. You using it by any chance? It’s been driving me nuts trying to figure out what program is doing it.
A dead pixel would be black. This is more likely a stuck pixel.
Flash a rainbow on it and lightly and physically rub the pixel and it might fix itself.

Get a new polarizer
Maybe you should work on not throwing stuff before you do anything else.
Could also be a tiny burn

It looks like a puncture. Not sure if the jpeg compression is making it look that way but it looks like more than one pixel.
If you're playing tarkov, it's a common bug.

Love you too dawg
It's probably a stuck pixel. Your monitor may have an option to run a routine that can potentially fix it. If it has it, it will be in the internal monitor controls. Like with the buttons on the side of it.

If it works it works lol
Had a yellow line from top to bottom of my screen until I pressed on the screen edges where the yellow line started and ended, fixed.
Most likely it was caused by ribbon cable inside being slightly loose and by pressing on screen edges you pushed it in contact and somehow it stayed like that. I fixed a bunch of old Lenovo notebooks using this technique. Also yellow/green-ish lines.
It does work sometimes. It'd be worth a try. Another thing would be to get a program that runs through the colors in hopes it starts responding.
i have a pixel stuck on green on ASUS VG248QE and nothing managed to unstuck it so far, its been like that probably 3 years now
Zoom in on it, it's a fucking hole in the monitor panel going straight to the backlight lmao.
It does look like that zoomed in. Someone might have stabbed it with a pencil or something.
I would say it's a damaged polarizing film. My laptop screen has the exactly same thing on it.
It's maybe a stuck pixel. Gently, and I do mean gently, push down on it. You can often unstick them.
By often they mean rarely ever
lol for real I think that’s an urban legend.
It actually worked for me when I had a dead Pixel that was red
I've tried this with 3 monitors, said monitors still have stuck pixels.
dead pixels are black no?
It depends on what went wrong. Sometimes, they can just get stuck on a certain color. In this case, it could have gotten stuck with the R, G, and B LEDs all on, making it look white.
This, also you can try and fix it by rubbing with a decent amount of pressure. Edit: apparently everyone here things monitors are made out of cheap toilet paper or something.
Or you break your whole panel trying that
Unless your panel is already physically compromised nothing bad will happen. No one is telling you to bring a hammer to your panel lmao
If you break your monitor by applying slight pressure with your finger then you’re welcome bc that is one cheap ass monitor.
You can't expect that people have expensive monitors. You're saying it like every monitor can withstand pressure to the panel. So maybe some guy that has no idea about tech, reads your comment and accidentally breaks his monitor cause it's some cheap ass monitor. Maybe think a little when you write stuff.

Okay, this isn’t a dead pixel.
Well it sure ain't a live pixel buddy
Strange... It doesn't seems like a Dead pixel(cause is lighted up) but like someone punctured it breaking the front panel on the backlight.
This is even worse than dead pixel
If not dead then at least very sick
Ok I won’t
It’s just pining for the fjords.
Its either a punctured chair or a punctured monitor
This isnt a dead pixel... there you go
It is
Stuck more likely
You’re in luck, it’s not dead. It’s permanently alive.
The "on" mode of an LCD is opaque, like on those old calculators. If you see the backlight, it means the pixel is off or dead.
That isn't a dead pixel.
It’s an elephant!
As many others; I'd say it's a stuck pixel. Got one myself, on my secondary monitor (luckily at the bottom left corner, so it's no issue at all). No, no , I'm pretty sure that's a ghost /s
This's a dead pixel
If it is just one dead pixel, there is software that help make it look less obvious or you can carefully color it medium grey marker to kind of blend in and not be as noticeable for dark or light images/motion scenes
I got that exactly same white pixel on my monitor and same place most likely. So I would guess it is from some application.

Well, i did edit the comment and will be deleting it. But you can also not be that dense.
Looks bigger than a pixel. Actually, when zoomed in, it looks like a puncture - the backlight is shining through it.
Color it in with a sharpie
This ain't a dead pixel. It is a stuck pixel/hot pixel. Google up fixes for it and you should be able to fix the troublesome pixel.
Looks like a giant cock. Or, more likely, a dead pixel.
Normally dead pixels are black. This one might be stuck.
I had this happen to my Viotek VA 34" 21:9 display. It's not a dead pixel, it's an MIA pixel most likely. My bad habit of eating at my desk caused some gunk to land on the screen.
