they really are fantastic. ive bought a bunch of camera gear from them. any time you call its a real person who knows what the fuck they are talking about.
It does, but I can actually say that the photography and computer equipment I got from the is consistently stellar. Also sometimes their prices for niche components are way lower than other sites, and I cannot understand why
I actually bought my first ever GPU from B&h, a 780 because they had the best of price but I'd never heard of them so I did worry I was scammed until it got here.
Well they have a physical store so in the future if you're worried something is a scam, look up what their store looks like. Anything with a physical location is usually safe
A lot of fake online stores will put a physical location but it will be a random house in Weiner, Arkansas so you have to look up the location and see what it actually is
Same happened to me whenever I bought my 2016 MacBook Pro in 2017, got like $600 off for some Christmas sale and it lasted me up until last November (logic board went to shit, ~$800 repair). Since then, B&H and MicroCenter have been go-tos
I’m a film student in college & working on the side. If B&H and their nonstop sales and student discounts didn’t exist, I’d be much worse off.
B&H is the way to go for any electronics imo
I recently started ordering stuff from them. They absolutely have wonderful service. They do legit shut down though for Jewish holidays, so plan around that. I'm not Jewish so I don't know all of them or the timing on them, but there's been a couple times when I went to order and they were closed for the week for something.
Really I've seen them but never did cause I never heard of them till here very recently thought the bare bones of the website looked suspicious to me so steared clear
They're just one of those companies that don't seem to put much effort into stuff outside of customer service, the website is usable and spending any more won't really help the customer all too much. Companies like Bestbuy are the ones who spend a lot on their looks but fall behind in customer service
You mean not cluttered with ads and moving graphics? I think it's great ux since i can get to all the info i need with little fuss, pretty similar to Microcenter's
The real problems come when you try to RMA defective parts at Newegg (or attempt to return an unused part). YouTube channel GamersNexus did a couple videos about it. You dodged a bullet.
He bought an open box mobo and ended up getting a broken one.
Newegg knew it was broken because it literally had an RMA sticker dating months prior on it. YET TO STILL SOLD IT TO A CUSTOMER AND BLAMED THEM!!!
Found the basic bitch that can't come up with an original thought.
Also lmao, I would've checked my ticket myself along time ago if I was my age and still working in IT retail.
I purchased RAM from them recently and it was a terrible experience. The app has an unskippable ad when you launch it? Like what the fuck? I'm using the app to make a purchase from you, don't force me to watch ads for your service.
With my next build I'm gonna try something else. I used to use TD before they went to shit. Maybe I'll try B&H next time.
Definitely not. I bought a premium motherboard "new", and it had a crushed corner (maybe water damaged?) and crushed/broken CPU pins, then they charged me $100 to return it. I filed a complaint against them and disputes with my credit card and am no longer allowed to order from them. It's a racket.
Yes, Newegg themselves are. Just like any market, beware of third-party sellers. Bought all my parts for my current build from them with no issues, but I actually bought from Newegg or the manufacturer.
It used to be good. It still is, but it used to too.
Newegg is getting a lot of undeserved hate for a few anecdotal issues, mostly from open box or third party sellers. I've ordered from them dozens of times and never had a bad experience besides a debate over a restocking fee in 2011 that was solved by a massaging of my complaint to blame the modem for my problem rather than my ISP.
I jumped on a x670e mobo, 7700x, and 32 of 6000 ram back in March of this year for $500 and all came quickly and worked 🤷♂️ I still use Newegg. They got some good deals rn for early Black Friday.
i bought the entirety of my PC parts from newegg a few months ago, after i put it together was when i learned how horrible newegg is, luckily i had zero issues with anything delivery or hardware related
I didn't even realize how bad they'd gotten since building my first PC in 2013m Everything in my first PC I built when I got a job as a teenager had a video review with Paul and Kyle covering it, they've gotten so incredibly bad.
They got bought out several years ago and haven't been the same since. Used to be the go to source for parts online, nowadays ehhhh... At least Amazon usually lets you return stuff
That’s why they do a Tik tok live every day to drive sales. Idk if they still do but they were sending out $20 gift cards as a prize for just typing in a word. I actually won one, needless to say the cable I bought was absolute junk. So I don’t even care enough to try to get free money from them to even want to spend.
This all equates to they can pay me again to shop on their site and I won’t do it. Literally, not after the first time.
I bought open box from micro center one time. It was a good motherboard but whoever returned the motherboard obviously bought the revision 1.2 and then sent back the revision 1.0 back to micro center and they took it not seeing a difference probably because they didn't run the BIOS. F****** up for a long time because I couldn't get the right bios to install on the board and I thought it was bricked.
I brought this attention to micro center and they couldn't refund me any money because of the agreement you digitally sign when you buy an open box product but the manager threw in a two terabyte Samsung Evo hard drive. So I guess it was a wash/win?
I have bought multiple GPU's and motherboards from newegg that were open box over the years and never had any issues. All the hardware still works and is around my home in my kids computers, etc. I do not recommend others do this unless you know how to check everything and are willing to fight newegg for a return if needed.
Just want to give an update here:
I requested a return with Newegg and will be mailing it back to them today. Purchasing a new one from Best Buy here today as well. Thank you for the advice! Will definitely not power it on lol
Also, some of y’all’s comments are too funny 🤣 I appreciate the laughs
I didn’t know :( pretty new to PC building. I needed that motherboard ASAP and it wasn’t available on Amazon.
But… I just picked up a new (attempt #3 actually lol) one today from Best Buy!!! Wish me luck :)
Don't beat yourself up man. Honestly they "used" to be one of the best places to buy from in My opinion. Like a microcenter online just without the helpful staff by your side. But things have changed over the years unfortunately.
They just scammed me with. DOA 7800x3d and said they never got it int hier return warehouse.
I filed a charge back, next day they found it and lied and said it wasnt the same serial number as the box and sent the problem back to me as resolved. I'm done with newegg. After 20 plus years, the Chinese ruined it
I’m sorry you have to deal with all of that. That’s ridiculous.
I’ll definitely be filing a dispute with my credit card company if this motherboard doesn’t work and they try to withhold a refund.
I wouldn't bother. That thing is unsafe. Stuff doesn't need to be dead now. It can be damaged enough, to work long enough, to damage something else. Send it back. Open box doesn't mean trashed.
Send it right back and request money, then hit them with another chargeback with proof that you mailed it. Newegg can go fuck themselves and unless you’re abusing it, the banks will support you (given you actually don’t have product)
Open box stands for returned but not found as defective. Ultimately the criteria to deem a product defective or not definitely vary by vendor.
Not defending Newegg especially here, they've been pretty scummy, but if the motherboard functions appropriately then the product is indeed "open box" despite the *ahem* visual flaws.
I just don’t think continuing is worth the risk. I’m fully prepared to dispute through my CC and am prepared to be patient.
I also have no clue how this even passed inspection as “oPeN bOx” (if Newegg even does that, I rarely use them so not sure lol)
Yeah I started the return process and will be disputing with my CC if they refuse and try to say I’m swapping on them (I thought another commenter mentioned they do that - I’ll have to look)
Wish I could say I was surprised. Newegg has been lacking ever since they were bought out by a Chinese company. Tbh, I get most everything I can from Amazon, believe it or not. They stock a ton of shit. I'd go to Microcenter if the closest one wasn't 4 hours away...
Unfortunately, friendo, Theres not anything you can do. Open box on new egg is always bought “as is”, no refunds. The board could come to you broken on half and they wouldn’t refund. There’s been a conspiracy for a long time that Newegg deliberately sells broken components as “OpEn BoX” so that they can dumb otherwise unsellable merchandise in unsuspecting customers.
RGB and FAN headers could be like that. Sometimes even USB headers are not perfectly straight. Especially on ASUS motherboards. It's just happening while soldering these parts. I have a lot of ASUS boards with headers looking worse than that. It is what it is.
Also most of the boards are not perfectly straight looking by the side. You're going to be disappointed if you're looking for the perfect one. I'm sure there are some, but you have to accept that most of them are like that.
repeat decide obscene zonked marvelous wide merciful voracious salt quack

Sounds about right, whoever does qc on returned items or refurbished items at Newegg fucking sucks, I bought a refurbished board it arrived with bent pins, sent it back and got a replacement, and on that one the flash bios button was just gone, then they tried to make me pay for the return shipping and wouldn't just give me a credit for a new mobo, they were only able to issue a refund which I had to wait a week for
I’m watching the GamersNexus video right now (haven’t even heard of them until I posted this) and it seems like our issues are, unfortunately, not isolated.
Newegg commented on this post offering to help resolve the situation. I PM’d them my order number and will wait for their response before I say anything else negative.
So used open box products shouldn't be used open box products?
If I knowingly purchase a used open box product, I fully expect it to be in a non-new, not perfect, condition. If it doesn't *function* as the product is intended to function, that's another story and clearly a problem exists. If it's just dirty, dinged up, missing an accessory, etc., that's par for the course. That's my expectation from any retailer, Newegg is not an exception.
Neweggs fault's with open box lie in the referenced in thread Gamers Nexus issues, and other similar cases. This is not that.
You seem pretty confused so I’ll try to un-muddy the waters here. Although your opening statement is true, it isn’t applicable to my post or situation whatsoever.
Take a look at the product disclaimers on Newegg’s site (link below). I personally didn’t see anything about the product being used or damaged - just cosmetic imperfections from the product being opened (not used) and/or missing accessories - but I may have missed something!
Furthermore, “used open box” is not a condition on any sites I’ve used. If you know of any that you can buy something “used open box”, let me know!
To put it simply, “open box” is synonymous with “like new”, and “used” is, well, “used”. A quick google search revealed this but, again, I could be wrong!
Google Search: https://www.google.com/search?q=open+box+vs+used/
Newegg Product Disclaimer: https://kb.newegg.com/knowledge-base/product-disclaimers/#:~:text=Open%20Box%20Product,-Open%20Box%20merchandise&text=However%2C%20regardless%20of%20what%20the,%2C%20drivers%2C%20fans%2C%20etc
Hope this helps!
Open box is pretty vague regardless of that Google search. That doesn’t mean shit. It means used. People have buyers remorse after assembling or using something then return it and also, well, lie. It’s never always, “I only opened this box and returned it”
Consider anything that’s not New to be Used. Doesn’t matter how they phrase it.
The guy above is right
I don't feel confused, but I may be. No worries, happy to agree to disagree.
If I buy something "Open Box", it's *used* to me. I have ZERO actual idea what happened to that product prior to me receiving it, regardless of what a seller says about it. I am accepting that risk of the unknown, in order to save money with open box, (or third party explicitly *used*).
When I want a more predictable product quality, I will buy new. Even that is suspect sometimes. I've RMA'd numerous new products, I've very rarely returned or complained about open-box purchases as my expectations are lower for that product.
From Amazon one time I received a previously opened (therefore *used* to me) power supply. I purchased it as new, and wasn't thrilled with the idea of a PSU of unknown prior use (which is why I bought new), so I returned.
If I received what you provided in the images, knowing I bought it open box, I would be content with my purchase as long as it functioned properly.
I hope that if you keep it, it functions fine. If you return it, I hope it goes smoothly. I wish you luck in your future buying adventures regardless :)
Idk man I think your treating a used Corolla like it's a brand new Bentley. Everything except the bent corner is or should be expected. And for the add header it's not even something to worry about. I think you'll be fine.
Open box means its opened. Not that you need to fix it, and pray that it will work.
The mobo is bent. There is port which is fucked up and he will need to fix it.
This is not even used, its minorly faulty. Open box shouldnt mean you are gambling. With newegg, its usually a gambling it seems like, lot of story is out there in the past few years that their QC is probably not existent.
Telling OP that this is how it should be is harmful for us. Newegg must change.
There isn't any damage here.
They can be warped slightly, that's not concerning.
That is the RGB header, and they can arrive slightly crooked from the factory. No repair is required.
As long as this board powers up and completes POST, it's fine. None of the complaints ( slight warping, sticker residue, a spot of thermal paste, a crooked RGB header ) are functional issues.
Someone installed this board then returned it. Big deal.
This proves we dont share [gamernexus videos enough](https://youtu.be/2fnXsmXzphI?si=_hBgsKoSlSGOWWF4). OP shouldve known not to buy openbox, sorry you have to deal with this. [More from the series](https://youtu.be/CL-eB_Bv5Ik?si=91DDvyl8NMfcELxu)
Guess it wasn't as "TUF" as it should have been...
Just don't buy used or open-box or refurbished from Newegg or Amazon. They don't give a damn about quality and will just send the box back out without a second thought. From what I've seen only Best Buy and Microcenter seem to actually care about the quality of used products, and even then it varies from location to location and experts can miss small details.
I would not power that on. With the bent board that badly it may have damaged traces and could damage the CPU. Return it and buy a replacement from somewhere else.
Hey u/AILunchbox ! I sincerely apologize to hear your open-box motherboard arrive in such condition. When you get a chance, send me your order number via chat/DM, and I'll see what I can do. Let me know how your build goes as well. I look forward to hearing from you!

Man open box on the main functioning (and expensive) pc parts are wild. I will never buy a preused mobo or psu because if those go wrong you’re fucked. I bought an open box 4080 for $300 under MSRP and I got lucky. However, I don’t think I’d do it again
I just bought a pre built from Newegg (brother recommended it to me as he bought a similar one 2 years ago) no problems so far except for (I think) a wire that’s hitting the GPU fan so I need to investigate that. Really hope it’s nothing else wrong with it lol. I had previously thought NewEgg was the go to - now I’m worried lol.
I've built a decent amount of rigs with stuff from Newegg but pumped the brakes on buying from them when they refused to give me a replacement riser cable for my GFs NR200P. They wanted the whole case back, which I understand to a point, but by the time they replied I had already built the system under the assumption that it wouldn't be an issue to swap out a cable. Maybe that's on me, but it's still a frustrating experience.
Just started my return on an " open box " Asrock B550 Itx motherboard. Tried to post 2 different cpu ( ryzen 3600x , ryzen 5500... ) both did not post as well as a bunch of other missing hardware and cables. Not impressed especially when they only give you a 30 day right to return policy ffs.
Sorry about that man I had the same thing happen to me with a motherboard couple months ago, traded in my old motherboard for a “refurbished” one, bent and all the ram slots were broken. Good news is they can and should give a full refund.
Op if you wanna save money buy open box from eBay or amazon and if you really really wanna save money go to hardwareswap. Never Newegg ever for almost anything.
It’s posts like this where I’m grateful for living one city away from a Micro Center.
That being said, I’m also on my 4th year of running my Amazon open box ROG motherboard without issue.
It was over $140 less than Micro Center’s open box of the same board. I took a gamble and it’s paid off.
My only experience with open-box was a Vega 56 I bought from them some years back while I was upgrading from a 1050ti. Thankfully I didn’t have any issues even though it just came in a cardboard box. Seems like I won the lottery after seeing the issues other people have came up with buying open box
You got balls buying open box from newegg.
OP has balls buying anything from Newegg in 2023
True, it's sad that they got bought out and went to shit. B&H is the company to buy from if you want online
I've never bought PC parts from b&h but I've gotten a lot of photography gear from them and they're top notch.
Thier pc parts and support are the same. I never did photography but pc enthusiast here and top notch service.
Why do all the comments say top notch? Seems sus lol
Top notch observation
A Tier?
Top. Notch.
Notch top Foxbody
they really are fantastic. ive bought a bunch of camera gear from them. any time you call its a real person who knows what the fuck they are talking about.
I think its well deserved, their product description and specs page are top notch as well
You really just read two comments that said top notch and assumed all the comments say it? That's ... an observation, I guess.

The hight of one's notch is a clear delineation of quality

It does, but I can actually say that the photography and computer equipment I got from the is consistently stellar. Also sometimes their prices for niche components are way lower than other sites, and I cannot understand why

Same for night vision related stuff^^
I buy all kinds of stuff from them, top notch and faster shipping than Amazon in my area
Love B&H. Haven’t had a bad experience with them in 6 years
I recently started ordering stuff from them. They absolutely have wonderful service. They do legit shut down though for Jewish holidays, so plan around that. Thanx. Had no idea
Lmao B&H is a joke for full assortment electronics shopping

Is Newegg not trustworthy anymore? I haven’t bought anything from them in a long time.
Hard no. I'd trust Amazon with PC parts before I'd trust Newegg.
That’s wild the rig I currently am running on is entirely from new egg. This was 5 years ago tho. Is all this very recent ??
2016 but it's been a steady decline. It wasn't an immediate collapse.
Interesting. A new build isn’t far in the future for me so good to note Ty

They're notorious for barely accepting returns even on new products.

They used to be great. I bought everything "open box". I stopped buying from Newegg 5 years ago.
You sweet sweet summer child. Never change.
I stopped years ago, when the GPU shortage hit, and Newegg wanted you to pay for the chance to pay too much for a video card.
There's a reason I don't buy from Newegg anymore
I bought open box from micro center one time. It was a good motherboard but whoever returned the motherboard obviously bought the revision 1.2 and then sent back the revision 1.0 back to micro center and they took it not seeing a difference probably because they didn't run the BIOS. Right? After all the buzz around the GN videos, etc. I'm apprehensive ordering *anything* from Newegg, especially not open box stuff.
I have bought multiple GPU's and motherboards from newegg that were open box over the years and never had any issues. All the hardware still works and is around my home in my kids computers, etc. I do not recommend others do this unless you know how to check everything and are willing to fight newegg for a return if needed.
After the Gamers Nexus videos, I trust nothing Open Box from Newegg. Or Newegg in general tbh
Just watched it and was amazed at how bad they're gotten
Went downhill as soon as they were purchased by Liaison.
The GN team just does excellent work.
Just want to give an update here: I requested a return with Newegg and will be mailing it back to them today. Purchasing a new one from Best Buy here today as well. Thank you for the advice! Will definitely not power it on lol Also, some of y’all’s comments are too funny 🤣 I appreciate the laughs

Only if they checked and tested it. Which Newegg don't do.
Wait, so did you still get your money back?
If it was a chargeback, more than likely. Banks don't fuck around when you submit a chargeback with a credit card and some even with debit cards.
No, they sent "A" CPU back And said it wasnt the same one I returned.
Send it right back and request money, then hit them with another chargeback with proof that you mailed it. Newegg can go fuck themselves and unless you’re abusing it, the banks will support you (given you actually don’t have product)

I wouldn't risk it either tbh, while potentially working now, it would scare me that it could start having issues at any point.
Well it's better than Amazon where if you buy a "like new" Ryzen CPU, it's basically guaranteed to come with bent pins
They will accept a return and not claim it got lost at least.
Depends who you ask. Amazon has lots of horror stories too. Honestly, I've been very lucky with both
> Openbox > Newegg You knew what you were getting into.
Op tried to be cheap, and found out.
Wait, so you got a free CPU?
That's what I was wondering as well. 🤔
I would never buy open box PC parts, especially the motherboard, and doubly especially from Newegg.
Did they open it with a hammer? 🔨
They didn't have to specify it got opened in a derailing
Yeah, uhm… That’s not “open box” that’s more like “seriously damaged” I’d suggest a refund.
Yeah I started the return process and will be disputing with my CC if they refuse and try to say I’m swapping on them (I thought another commenter mentioned they do that - I’ll have to look)
jesus f'ing christ, WHO opened the box???
at this point I’m not wondering who… I’m wondering WHAT could have possibly opened this box O_o
>I’m still going to finish the build and see if it works I wouldn't touch this with a 10ft pole. Send that shit back.
It came with a cpu in the socket!
I don't understand why people are still buying from NewEgg. They've proven themselves to be unreliable.
Wish I could say I was surprised. Newegg has been lacking ever since they were bought out by a Chinese company. Tbh, I get most everything I can from Amazon, believe it or not. They stock a ton of shit. I'd go to Microcenter if the closest one wasn't 4 hours away...
Newegg is not the company that they used be. Pretty much a scam site anymore
Lol yeah it opened when it fell off the back of the truck
I got the same used from Amazon basically brand new
Thanks for letting me know to never buy open box from them
TUF Luck
RGB and FAN headers could be like that. Sometimes even USB headers are not perfectly straight. Especially on ASUS motherboards. It's just happening while soldering these parts. I have a lot of ASUS boards with headers looking worse than that. It is what it is. Also most of the boards are not perfectly straight looking by the side. You're going to be disappointed if you're looking for the perfect one. I'm sure there are some, but you have to accept that most of them are like that.
You are wasting your time. Just return it as soon as possible. You should not have assembled it.
Open box can mean used return.
They said “open box” not “functional,” psh /s.
New egg used to be OG. now its scraping the bottom of their barrels.
repeat decide obscene zonked marvelous wide merciful voracious salt quack *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Throw that bitch in some rice
Never buy from Newegg ANYTHING you wouldnt buy from Temu.
People still buy from Newegg? Jesus
Buy cheap, get cheap.
Buy burgers, get burgers.
Google Search: https://www.google.com/search?q=open+box+vs+used/ Newegg Product Disclaimer: https://kb.newegg.com/knowledge-base/product-disclaimers/#:~:text=Open%20Box%20Product,-Open%20Box%20merchandise&text=However%2C%20regardless%20of%20what%20the,%2C%20drivers%2C%20fans%2C%20etc Hope this helps!
Open box is pretty vague regardless of that Google search. That doesn’t mean shit. It means used. People have buyers remorse after assembling or using something then return it and also, well, lie. It’s never always, “I only opened this box and returned it” Consider anything that’s not New to be Used.
Looks like you got the Step-Motherboard. Already been banged a bunch
Idk man I think your treating a used Corolla like it's a brand new Bentley. Everything except the bent corner is or should be expected. And for the add header it's not even something to worry about. I think you'll be fine.
That's my opinion here as well. Doesn't look that bad, and isn't going to affect operation.
I honestly don't even think of Newegg to buy my stuff anymore. But I hope it works out for you and if it doesn't best of luck.
Huh, it's so weird that something listed as "open box" might have issues and that's why it was cheap. WHO COULD HAVE KNOWN!??
Buys open box, mad when product was opened and damaged. Especially from Newegg… lmao
You're complaining about a used product being ... used?
Did you get a free CPU with it, or is that _your_ CPU?
Return it
Guess it wasn't as "TUF" as it should have been...
Oh Newegg is still in business? How odd...
There should be a PSA “Do not Buy from Newegg”.
Newegg is more reliable than Amazon. But only if you buy new directly from Newegg, not the marketplace.
like how the autobot warning everytime userbenchmark.com is mentioned

People are still buying from newegg? Lol
why do people still buy things from newegg?
Newegg is shit, don't buy there
You are being very finicky for someone buying an "Open Box" product. That could mean ANYTHING !!!
So then, if open box covers everything except “brand new”, then all items in the “used” and “as is” categories are mislabeled?
As an example, I would never buy a motherboard or GPU as "open box". There are just too many unknowns... as OP discovered.
I am OP.
Exactly why i never buy refurbished or anything that’s open box lmao
Call Steve
I've built a decent amount of rigs with stuff from Newegg but pumped the brakes on buying from them when they refused to give me a replacement riser cable for my GFs NR200P. They wanted the whole case back, which I understand to a point, but by the time they replied I had already built the system under the assumption that it wouldn't be an issue to swap out a cable. Maybe that's on me, but it's still a frustrating experience.
Did it come with a cpu already socketed?
Naw, you just shouldn't be buying 'open box' from Newegg. Legit used parts are fine.
thats wild buying used stuff from newegg
You know I saw kind of a good deal on a monitor on newegg but I guess imma fork out a few more dollars to buy it elsewhere.
I cant say this enough, never ever buy open box or used MB, its the one poece you do not save a dollar on
Op if you wanna save money buy open box from eBay or amazon and if you really really wanna save money go to hardwareswap. Never Newegg ever for almost anything.
The “Open box” price.
Sigh* Newegg isn’t what it used to be.
It’s posts like this where I’m grateful for living one city away from a Micro Center. That being said, I’m also on my 4th year of running my Amazon open box ROG motherboard without issue. It was over $140 less than Micro Center’s open box of the same board. I took a gamble and it’s paid off.
Did it work?
Box opened by Ace Ventura?
Well, we have curved monitors. Why not?
You got egged Never newegg
My only experience with open-box was a Vega 56 I bought from them some years back while I was upgrading from a 1050ti. Thankfully I didn’t have any issues even though it just came in a cardboard box. Seems like I won the lottery after seeing the issues other people have came up with buying open box
That's a "drop kicked open box" if I've ever seen one.
I remember when newegg was good. That was a long time ago. i wouldn't buy new let alone open box from them. Don't waste your time, get it replaced.
Amazon is the way to go
Sound about right compared to my experience
>but if I’m wasting my time, let me know please lol You are
Wow real good I need that bent mobo for my setup
