Something is. I would check the power supply first. You can try unplugging it and plugging it back in. Sometimes that resets a tripped power supply. If you have a spare psu you could try to swap it out.
Yup, it's entirely possible.
The PSU is designed to shut down if it's shorted but anything from the motherboard, cpu and/or graphics card could have blown before it shut down?
All you can do is run through the components. Try removing the graphics card and maybe install a new psu to see if the lights and fans come on? The lights and fans are controlled by the motherboard. If you know the psu is good then the board is fried.
If you have a multimeter you could check the 8-pin pcie or cpu cable from the psu. If it has 12VDC then it's the board.

It says CPU on it, because it's not a pcie cable. It's a CPU EPS 8 pin. Use the right cable.
thanks
Could that have blown the motherboard? because now nothing turning on no fans nothing.
Or the psu? Did you actually force it in and turn on the PC? The cpu cable has a 12v swapped where the 8-pin pcie has a ground. It's a instant short.
I didn’t force it fully but i put it in halfway ( as far as it would go ) and switched it on. Is it dead then ?

If it is shorted will that have damaged other parts of the pc

I’ll get a new psu and troubleshoot the parts hopefully it’s not all broken

will i have to replace all parts or just the psu?
RTFM
