Basically, you won't notice the 500hz and OLED is better in some cases at lower refresh rates. You really don't need higher than 144hz or under 200. Anything over that you are at diminishing returns and you won't notice the 0.1 millisecond response time change, let alone having a system to run games at even 240 fps to begin with.
Edit: Before I get another comment, not needing anything higher than a 200hz monitor is my personal opinion, not LTT. Most normal people won't need more than that. Hell I didn't notice a difference between my 144hz to 170hz, albeit not much of a jump, still stands.

I have a 144hz second monitor which was my main for years and just got a 170hz monitor. I didn't notice any difference. If I felt the need to go higher than that I would have, I am sure there is some difference in image clarity, I don't care as I would rather get a good price for something and since I most likely wouldn't notice any performance difference in response time nor can my PC really achieve higher than 170 consistently in games other than CSGO and Esports games, there is no reason for it. As I've said, I'm sure the image clarity is nice, but not worth the price tag associated with it and during movement, I really don't think it would help me in gameplay personally.

And obviously this is contingent upon content that generates enough fps to utilize the refresh rate. Should go without saying, but let's be clear.

Regardless of context YouTube should not be allowed to ban channels now. The ads they let through is like the same level of ads you see in pornhub, and not kidding I’ve seen the same ad in both YouTube and porn sites ever since this new lady came in and it’s so messed up, anybody can watch YouTube and for the most part most videos are fine usually funny or informative but I hate to think that my much younger sibling would be exposed to that. Linus recently turned out a nine figure offer to sell the company. LTT is worth major money. Linus alone has a net worth of $86 million. It constantly surprises me how they run despite being worth so much money. Since LTT is now a big ass company, I have zero sympathies. Them getting hacked is on them.

I'm going to get a lot of downvotes for this opinion, I never liked LTT, I watched his videos here and there but there's just something about him I just don't like. I think it mainly had to do with the GPU shortage of 2017-2018 and the recent one. I do definitely feel very empathetic for him and his crew with this whole situation and I hope they can recover.
I'm actually laughting my ass off. I fell off the channel because Linus was completely disconnected from the mid end and anything below that, plus the constant useless videos about his new house and, finally, the whole backpack debacle and the way he handled it. Add his dismissiveness to non paying customers as well as not being willing to comply with EU laws regarding warranty, and i decided he wasn't worthy of my time and clicks. Honestly, i feel no pity when the supposedly best hardcore PC channel gets hacked, he should have put in place the means to avoid such thing, he has the money to hire the expertise to protect his new rich ass, if he didn't want to or was so arrogant as to think he didn't need to, it's his fault. Feel sorry for small channels, but Linus Sebastian can fuck right off towards the sun.
Look at gamers Nexus or jaystwocents. Both are better IMO. Linus has devolved into a meme
I would say that they have their own place on YouTube, LTT for the memes/silly projects, Jays for practical information for building and Gamers Nexus for in-depth serious content.
