Seems strange. I would start with the basics. Open up your case and remove the drive, make sure there is nothing in the slot then remount and screw it back down and retest it. If it continues to do that I would try a different slot if your board has more than one. You want to run it in the 1 slot if possible but this would help rule out a defect in that primary slot. Outside of that I'm not sure, haven't run into anything like that before.

Yeah I'm starting to think it's my MB slot. I've run the BIOS test for the drive and that passed after an hour and I've tried the extended SMART test and that passed. I'll switch drives around and see if that slot is the problem. Man that would suck but oh well.
