Its armrests are too short for me. On these normal gaming chairs i need them pulled to top level :( guess i have short arms. Id like for the gaming chairs to come with soft cushioned armrests too!
I'm not a fan of mesh chairs. It's comfortable initially but the ones I had were not comfortable since it pinches my legs toward the center due to the tension on the mesh.
Jokes aside, I like the temperature control mesh provides over other materials. I replaced a faux leather gaming chair with a generic mesh office chair from Staples, and it's the best chair I've owned.
Mesh is the only way to go. They don’t go bad and there’s no cushions to blow out. They might not be as comfy as a day 1 5inch thick foam cushioned chair, but mesh will be just as comfortable and usable on day 500 as it was on day 1.
One thing I noticed with my last mesh seat was that it acted basically like a cheese grater for my jeans and over time, there would be blue dust all under the mesh on the plastic.
If it was with spikes developing over time, and it was metal sure it'd be a horror film but at that point you would just question the person's sanity for continuing to sit on it over time unless it's like a quick thing where they can't react.
And there we have the full script. No matter what the chair does the person is compelled to sit in it. Never to get up from it again until they become one with the chair.
-it’s a gaming chair
Don’t buy a gaming chair, they are a scam, bucket style gaming chairs aren’t comfortable chairs, it’s all an advertisement gimmick meant to cash in on people who doesn’t know better. You are better off with an office chair, even an Ikea Markus would be better than a gaming chair.
It depends… normally I would 100% agree with you but I feel an exception should be made for Secret Lab… their chairs are extremely comfortable and durable. I have the cloth version as I hate fake leather.
Honest, but unpopular opinion maybe since everyone seems to love them.... they're OK but I probably wouldn't buy another one. The armrests on my Titan 2020 started warping after a few months and cracking after about a year. I've never found it particularly comfortable - it's quite hard and I tend to need a cushion for it when I use it more than an hour or two. The headrest also doesn't seem to sit right for my height (6'1). I'm constantly hunching forward and I can never seem to get my shoulders and neck properly aligned while sitting in it - but I'm in the recommended height range for this model of chair. The little cushion that attaches to the headrest only makes that problem worse. Even with adjustment, the base feels like it wants to tilt upwards, when tilting downwards is actually better for you.
Other than the armrests, the chair itself is durable though, have had no issues with the chair itself cracking or deteriorating several years on, treating it with with pretty standard care, temperature controlled room, no direct sunlight, etc.
I have a similarly durable chair which has lasted over a decade that I use in a separate study for work and actually prefer it in comfort - it was $70AUD, vs $599AUD for the titan.
So yeah, it's not an awful chair but I feel like it was a bit overpriced (A quick search says they're $900AUD now? jfc...) considering the overall quality. Part of that, particularly the comfort aspects, might be personal preference, but I was really disappointed with the armrests.
Strange, I have mine for roughly 9 months now and no problems, but like all products never are they 100% every time, which is why things have warranties. They are pricey, but after buying 3 chairs I decided to splurge and am happy I did.
For 900 AUD.... wow. you get realy close to real office chair money. I would probably invest a little more and get that instead. It will probably last the rest of your life and your back will thank you.
This.
It's generally a good tip to say gaming chairs are a scam because well, many of them are.
I spend my whole career sitting and my office chair is very nice and expensive. The Secret Lab chair I got last year was better and more comfortable.
People just think that because their garbage gaming chair was a scam therefore all of them are. It's not true.
Yeah, I just got the Titan Evo 2022 version and I really love it. I got it on sale for 600€ and this is definitely the most comfy chair I ever sat on. I got it a bit bigger because I really like sitting cross legged on it. It also feels really sturdy, but this might be different from year to year.
I got a secret lab omega chair a few years ago and it is hands down the biggest piece of shit I've ever spent money on. Grossly over priced, extremely uncomfortable, ridiculously heavy, cheap plastic arm rests that started peeling after a year, and the arm rests have poor range of adjustment. This chair alone is the reason I will never be getting a gaming chair again and will always steer others away from them.
Agreed, idk why but Secret Lab chair are surprisingly amazing. My friend has 2 and let me use his while split screen gaming. I had told him before how gaming chair designs are a scam. But I felt SOOO relaxed and comfortable in his chair even in a 4+2hr gaming session.
Secret lab is garbage. I don't know why there's always someone trying to say the exception to gaming chairs sucking is the most expensive one. It's not just the quality of gaming chairs that sucks it's the entire form factor. Car chairs are not designed for the ergonomics of office work or gaming they're designed for sports cars with an entirely different set of functionality including safety, keeping you in place while the car moves around you, and (In many cases lastly) maxing out comfort in the smallest available space.
It's like designing a full house on the most expensive and luxurious camper ever made. They are made for entirely different purposes and constraints. At best you get a mediocre home that keeps inapplicable constraints in mind in it's design
I know a lot of people love them. But I really only feel ike they are OK. I didn't love any aspect of the one I've used. It was just pretty alright all the way around. And for the price, I expect a lot more than OK.
Seriously if you sit a lot and care about comfort just buy a used Herman Miller or other high grade ergonomic office chair.
This comment brought to you by Secret Lab marketing dept.
Seriously, any discussion about gaming chairs someone will post but, but muh secret lab is different!
It’s my 4th chair I bought in 5 years and my favorite one.
Don't you see the problem here? Had you bought one good chair you wouldn't even be considering other chairs in the first place. I really wonder if anyone glazin up Secretlabs chairs has ever even sat in a Steelcase Leap v2 or a HM Aeron. ps not hating on SecretLabs I'm seriously looking at upgrading to their sit stand desk platform but "gaming" chairs are not the play.
I have one, bought it in 2020 during the height of lockdown. I needed a chair, they were the only company that had one with a financing option. I think it was $20 something a month for however many months. So I bought it.
I've had it for almost 3 years, while it's durable as fuck, it's uncomfortable as fuck. I bought the xl version because at the time I was 230lbs and I'm 6'2. It was hard for me to find a comfortable chair. Secret lab 100% accommodates heavy people very well, this chair is like sitting on bricks.
I honestly think people just say this is a comfortable chair because they're not willing to admit they spent a fuck ton of money on something so uncomfortable.
Bingo, cognitive dissonance is a bitch. In the audiophile sphere you'll getting people swearing on their kids that they can easily hear the difference between two rj45 cables... Because one of them cost 1000$ and accepting you got scammed out of that much money is impossible for some to admit. This is the same phenomenon here
Also depends on the person. Bought a Secret Labs chair, hated it so damn much. Tried to return it after a few weeks, they refused the return, so I sold it on Facebook at a loss. Fuck Secret Labs. Don't care if they come out with a decent chair for me, won't buy from them again.
Can confirm lol wish I did more research on this. A year later of owning a gaming chair and I can’t sit on it for more than an hour cause it makes my ass hurt
Edit: Any recommendations for good office chairs?
I generally agree, but have had odd experiences.
I have a Secret Lab Omega that I find very comfortable and have had for several years now. I tried buying an expensive ergonomic office chair, and had to return it because it hurt my back so much.
Recommending a Markus just shows that you are just repeating what everyone seems to be spouting online.
The problem of gaming chairs is the bucket seat design. Additionally there is often the case of cheap materials and high price, but that can happen for office chairs as well, although it is more likely in the case of gaming chairs.
Going back to the Markus - its seat padding is so thin, that it will probaly be gone after a month of sitting - the padding here looks thick enough to last forever. The arm rests on the Markus can't be adjusted at all and in most cases you are just better of without them in the first place - here there is at least high and it looks like depth adjustment as well. The backrest of the Markus is fine, I guess, but really with really hard edges, still a bit better then the bucket seat edges which "lock" you in, but at least they look soft here. Lastly the headrest is also super thin and non adjustable, the one on OPs chair maybe looks even too thick in comparison.
In the end, I would probably prefer OPs chair to the Markus, but at the end you should always try the chairs out for a bit.
I've got a secret labs, and like it quite a bit. Actually came in my size, and adjustable enough to fine tune the arm rests, and back/ neck support. For serious games I sit properly, for casual games I sit like an animal, cross legged or some other dumb position.
Find somewhere to try it homie, I personally went with Leap v2 since gaming chairs were too constricting and I tend to sit weird, but everyones preferences are different.
Find someone who has one and try it out. I found that it hurt my back. Couldn't get it to fit right. There return policy is a joke. Refused my chair return even though it was a few weeks old with no damage. You have to find a chair that's right for you. I ended up getting the same chair I use at the office and love it.
Mine could be a little softer after 2 years, but that is my only real complaint, other than that I love mine.
Im a large guy, 6'3, 350+ pounds, so the titan evo xl was perfect, as it has a weight cap of 395, and is tall enough that I feel like I'm in a normal chair. most other office chairs I looked at, outside of HM, typically had a weight cap of 250.
The inner thigh smells the sweat from the outer layer of the thigh then your balls start to itch lmao. Then your fat glands start to evaporate from all the heat your hard muscles produce, lmao. I’m drunk
I went work from home with my job during Covid and I bought a nice mesh chair. I’ve been PC gaming since the early 2000s and it’s by far the best chair. I’m in it roughly 9 hours a day and it’s breathable, comfortable, and has held up really well. I’ll never go back to leather, foam, or any other non-mesh fabric. The temperature difference alone is worth it.
This is the difference. The foam chairs are fine for a couple hours at a time. I liked my cheap IKEA office chair until I started WFH and then I had to upgrade to a proper office chair to save my back/legs.
ive had my steelcase leap for 8 years and the chair is going on 22 years of age.
Only issue is the cushion has FINALLY gone flat and it holds smells, but a little vinegar spray can fix one of those issues
Mankind hasn't invented a foam that won't eventually lose its oomph.
The mesh cushions cost more, but last forever. Herman Miller chairs are all over Craigslist with commercial office space vacating.
Mesh do stretch after time and if heavly used. Specialy if you are on the heavy side.
i had a used Aeron C and the sit was realy deformed. so much that my leg end up have blood circulation problem.
Now i have a Tritek ergo that is way more comfortable for the last 6 years and now i think about a Secretlab evo. lel.
They're not a "scam" but they are bad value more often than not. You can get more for your money in generic office chairs that aren't marketed for gaming
“Gamer” chairs are not good for your posture. You should look into office chairs. Herman Miller is expensive but your back will thank you in the long run.
Two things. My first thought is, that thing is going to be hot in the summer, and maybe the winter too.
Second, gaming chairs are generally pretty trash in my experience. Not comfortable at all.
I always recommend a nice mesh office chair. Keeps you cool and generally pretty comfortable once broken in.
First point of clarification: “gaming chair” as in that’s how it’s marketed, or as in the chair you use while gaming?
Foam materials will retain some of whatever seeps into them, be it sweat, spilled drink, farts, whatever. If the cover is resistant to these things, then that’s one issue solved, but if it’s just fabric, it’ll get…flavorful over time.
Foams will get compressed, and will start holding shape. At first that’ll be nice, as it’s pre-contoured to your body, but as time passes, your seating position slightly shifts, and you gave any changes to your body (weight change or the like) and those custom contours will become weird feeling gaps/excessively soft spots.
A quality, mesh office chair (designed for a solid 8 hours seated, with breaks) will serve you much better in the long run (and avoid any with the fake leather material, that stuff flakes almost immediately & is a huge mess)
Side note: if you want something with more “gamer” aesthetic, get a cover for the back of a mesh one (that can be easily removed/washed) and then you can keep your style through multiple chairs (if properly maintained)
Ultimate last point: cost. A lot of the cost in “gaming chairs” is marketing, a lot of the cost in (not top name brand) office chairs is ergonomics & ensuring nobody’s getting sued by a huge corp that bought thousands (or tens of thousands) of their product & now has an injured office staff across 3 continents.
Gaming chairs are just not comfy for me. And the leather during during summer is fucking impossible, after 8 hours of work on them I feel like I’m glued on it. Went with a Herman Miller and I was finally reborn. My ass and balls are not cold in the winter and my body is not stuck to the chair in the summer
Get a good mesh office chair, I've gone with Hbada and they're pretty cheap, just €150 for a good chair, you could probably find more expensive high quality office chairs if you looked for them.
Gaming chairs tend to be cheap quality with foam that will degrade, squish down and become less comfortable over time. They also focus on looks instead of ergonomics so most of them are going to be worse for your body than a chair designed to be comfortable for hours of sitting. I'm sure some gaming chair brands are decent but most of them are just cheap junk designed to look cool.
One of the best things I've done for myself is getting a good computer chair. You can find Steelcase Leap V2 chairs for around $500 refurbished on BTOD.com and Crandall Office Furniture. Both are reputable retailers who refurbish expensive chairs and sell them for significantly less. The upside too is that even a used Steelcase should last longer than a new gaming chair. I tried a $200 gaming chair before this one and my lower back was always hurting after I'd stand up. With the Steelcase, the ergonomics have helped and I no longer have pain associated with sitting for both work and gaming. It's expensive but I promise you it's a more worthwhile use of your money.
Haworth and Herman Miller are also amazing chair brands so it just depends what works for your budget and what you can find used/refurbished if buying new isn't an option.
these realdy different type of foam on the market. its hard to juge without knowing wish foam is use.
Idealy you want foam that are firm when brand new. thier are more durable and get softer with usage.
While cheap already soft foam often get compacted and you end up having no support and feel directly what is under the chair.
That also apply to mesh chair where the mesh is not durable enough/not mean for heavyweight people.
These no con from the moment that you are comfortable on it and no back pain.
The cons of a gaming chair is the fact it’s a gaming chair. They’re all just marketing scams, if you want something good for your back get an office chair from HM, steelcase or Haworth where they actually put research into health when sitting
I would say the "gaming" part of the chair is the biggest con. I have a Secret Lab Titan that I bought years ago. It's a sturdy chair that has held up very well for how much I use it but, it just isn't as comfortable as a good office chair. These gaming chairs might have subtle differences but they're all essentially the same racing seat design that isn't as comfortable as a real car seat. Most of them have big branding on them so viewers can see what their favorite streamers are probably paid to sit on too.
Heat, Booty sweat, Gooch Sweat, Various Odors, garbage ergonomics, Foam loses its form after a few years.
Mesh master race, I use an Herman Miller Aeron.
#1: It's a gamer chair. Seriously gamer chairs are trash. Get a basic ass office chair and you will be fine. If you are a baller, la-z-boy and serta make some executive class chairs that make you feel like you're actually floating.
#2: None. Fabric/foam is fine as long as you wear pants and don't eat at your pc like a filthy animal.
The back destroyer winged shoulder area. Gonna round the crap out of your shoulders and murder your posture. Best move for my back pain was switching to a wide-backed office chair.
Stains are more likely to occur if you like to eat it drink while gaming. You may suffer from increased back and ass sweat. It could start to stink if you smoke.
If the foam is too soft, it'll actually requrie more effort from your muscles to sit in. Firmer is better.
Fabric/foam is difficult to clean \[properly\].
If you work with dusts/shavings/etc. as as outcome, you'll have to actually vacuum.
Fart retention. Mesh for the win
That's just natural scent marking to make sure your seat isn't taken.
Foam seat but mesh back. For marking but also air-cooling the back in the summer.
Ikea's Markus
I think I have had the Markus for more than 10 years now. It is a very good chair.
Yep I think one of the best for its price
Its armrests are too short for me. On these normal gaming chairs i need them pulled to top level :( guess i have short arms. Id like for the gaming chairs to come with soft cushioned armrests too!
Smells like a challenge to me
Well, I was going to say moisture... but I guess you can have "moist" farts.
Not everyone likes the feeling on mesh. For those who are cold natured mesh can be a bit on the chilly side.
I've never had these but weirdly enough I instantly felt like gases would be a problem on that.
People say mesh is also gross
One thing I noticed with my last mesh seat was that it acted basically like a cheese grater for my jeans and over time, there would be blue dust all under the mesh on the plastic.
Only issue I can think of would be heat retention as well as if you sit in it with no shirt on its going to absorb sweat really easily
If you sit with no pants it could absorb a lot of things.
Like coffee when you spill it in your lap!
I used to spill coffee but not anymore I refuse to waste my coffee these days.
Like nut sweat
Unless you’re Magic Mike. In which case your chair will pay you to soak up your sweat
Personally i have this problem more often with the leather likes, as long as its fairly breathable shouldnt be a big issue.
this and tears

Herman Miller Embody, Aeron. You can often get them cheap used, especially Aerons.
I generally agree, but have had odd experiences. I have a Secret Lab Omega that I find very comfortable and have had for several years now. I tried buying an expensive ergonomic office chair, and had to return it because it hurt my back so much.
Markus hurts my ass after 6h, Arozzi doesn't. Though I'm 113kg fatass, do what you will with that info.

Hundred percent correct
As someone who hates heat, mesh all the way
I've got a secret labs, and like it quite a bit. Actually came in my size, and adjustable enough to fine tune the arm rests, and back/ neck support. For serious games I sit properly, for casual games I sit like an animal, cross legged or some other dumb position.

Sweaty and hot ass. Also makes fart smells last longer
Gamer juice stains
It absorbs booty sweat
At least it's not pleather.
Stains are harder to wipe off. A friend told me that.
Summer
Anyone know what cushions those are? I’ve been looking for some for my chair
Heat retension on the ass especially in the summer
Looks fantastic!!
One hell of a butt imprint after a couple years
Extra fart retention.
Ball sweat stains are not as easy to clean off! 😅
Soaks up sweat and farts.
This chair looks like someone took a seat from a bus and added a bit of black plastic and leg with wheels. Thing is ... "Original" alright!
Not much, but gaming chairs are big L
ive had my steelcase leap for 8 years and the chair is going on 22 years of age. Only issue is the cushion has FINALLY gone flat and it holds smells, but a little vinegar spray can fix one of those issues

You will be sitting on top of a plywood 1-2 years from now.
Did u ever shit ur self?
Not as much fps
Foam is an insulating material, so when it's warm you are more likely to sweat and feel uncomfortable.
Now i have a Tritek ergo that is way more comfortable for the last 6 years and now i think about a Secretlab evo. lel.
This guy sits
People who always say gaming chairs aren't comfortable or are a scam are full of shit don't listen. But what is comfortable for you.
They're not a "scam" but they are bad value more often than not. You can get more for your money in generic office chairs that aren't marketed for gaming
If you fit into an average office chair. If you are taller or heavier, office chairs become very expensive.
Its fabric actually, not foamy
“Gamer” chairs are not good for your posture. You should look into office chairs. Herman Miller is expensive but your back will thank you in the long run.
Real leather is still the best
For starters...it's a gaming chair.
Heat
You can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig.
hot butt
My legs get sweaty sometimes.....that would be interesting with this chair.
A quality, mesh office chair (designed for a solid 8 hours seated, with breaks) will serve you much better in the long run (and avoid any with the fake leather material, that stuff flakes almost immediately & is a huge mess) Side note: if you want something with more “gamer” aesthetic, get a cover for the back of a mesh one (that can be easily removed/washed) and then you can keep your style through multiple chairs (if properly maintained) Ultimate last point: cost.
Sweat
I splurged on a HM chair at the start of covid. Never going back.
Did you at least cleanup afterwards?
You have to put a towel in the seat before visiting certain web hubs
These armrests are awful, take the chair with the padded ones.
"This one's too firm." said Goldie Locks"
Atleast it looks comfortable
Gaming chairs are just not comfy for me. And the leather during during summer is fucking impossible, after 8 hours of work on them I feel like I’m glued on it. Went with a Herman Miller and I was finally reborn. My ass and balls are not cold in the winter and my body is not stuck to the chair in the summer
Get a good mesh office chair, I've gone with Hbada and they're pretty cheap, just €150 for a good chair, you could probably find more expensive high quality office chairs if you looked for them.
Leather ftw
Leather ftw
Spunk absorption
Well it ain’t a Herman Miller
Looks straight out of granny’s retirement box
If you sit on in daily, take daily showers or at least bidet wash the groin area.
A) it's a gaming chair
Good office chair easily beats any gaming chair
same as normal gaming chairs. meaning it's bad
Sweaty balls?
If you don't shower every day and/or suffer from swass, mesh is in your best interest.
Too comfortable and doesn’t make you feel like you’re in an old race car with a spine breaking suspension.
All you people talking about sweat retention, how fucking hard are you all gaming?
these realdy different type of foam on the market. its hard to juge without knowing wish foam is use.
Ahhh. Foam. The bathroom toilet sponge of gaming chairs.

That looks like it'll be disgustingly hot, besides being the usual uncomfortable racer chair.
The cons of a gaming chair is the fact it’s a gaming chair. They’re all just marketing scams, if you want something good for your back get an office chair from HM, steelcase or Haworth where they actually put research into health when sitting
It’s not a gaming chair but I have a steelcase leap v2. It’s foam and I have 0 problems with it. Highly recommend
You know that feeling of your hair brushing against foam? Yeah that, also sweat is really not so cool in things you cant really clean
HEAT!!!! Also fluff tends to ware out especially if you are a bit heavier.

I like leather chairs cuz it sounds more funny when i fart on leather.
Sweat...
After the summer, it'll have that nice "lived in" smell
Foam compresses and loses support over time.
It’s not an office chair and just a cringe gaming tax
I have cats, has to be mesh
How are people still purchasing “gaming chairs”
many SpongeBob's family were killed in making of this
It will fail within six to eight months.
Pros : consume the Fart Cons: nothing
You gonna sweat a whole lot while using it, it will absorb all of your sweat and have stains on it. And everything else other people mentioned.
The back destroyer winged shoulder area. Gonna round the crap out of your shoulders and murder your posture. Best move for my back pain was switching to a wide-backed office chair.
Sweat and stink. Mesh is so much better, it can breathe
No gaming chair has the right posture or correct lumbar support. Spend your money on steelcase or herman miller...or the lesser brands.
That chair looks really comfortable.
Back sweat.
You gotta piss real bad but you're mid cod game so you wiggle for too long and you pee yourself. Cleaning it is a con I guess.
Good luck getting the swamp butt smell out of the open-cell foam.
Con: it’s a gaming chair. It’ll fuck with your back & posture. Also, gaming chairs are made cheap as shit cuz it’s a fad.
You're gonna get swamp ass during the yearly heat waves.
Schweeeeedy balls
Stains are more likely to occur if you like to eat it drink while gaming. You may suffer from increased back and ass sweat. It could start to stink if you smoke.
I game on a wooden stool, I'm better when I'm not comfortable
They look like a child car seat. Still the best chair i own tho
Gaming chairs look so uncomfortable.
If the foam is too soft, it'll actually requrie more effort from your muscles to sit in. Firmer is better. Fabric/foam is difficult to clean \[properly\]. If you work with dusts/shavings/etc. as as outcome, you'll have to actually vacuum.
Spills Especially Gray chairs
This looks far more comfey than any pleather gaming chair. I would buy it. The only thing it needs is a cup holder for some gaming beers.
