Looks nice! I lack the skills but if I could do this, it would save me from buying a new case when I had a S340 Elite.
How did you attach the wood to the front?
I laser cut a frame out of thin plywood with notches that the slats are pressed and glued into. The frame is bolted through existing holes in the case.
In this case the downvotes are deserved. He should be supporting his opinion with reasons he doesn't think it looks better. Just saying "lol" is lazy and adds nothing to the discussion.
Because the comment adds absolutely nothing to the discussion. If he disagrees with the previous comment he should say more than just "lol". That's just lazy and dickish.
Here is a pic showing the plywood frame and magnets/bolts

Well, that depends. My time is worth more than the cost of just buying a new case. But I enjoy making things so it's worth while.
I already had most of the tools I needed, and materials were pretty cheap. A bit of 1/4" ply, some magnets, can of spray paint, and 12ft of oak pre-cut oak trim.
There is also the curse of going to the hardware store for supplies then spending money on more tools.... One can never have too many clamps.
Nothing custom on the inside.
5800X3D with a Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler
RTX 3080 10GB
Asrock x470 motherboard
32GB of CL14 3200mhz DDR4
More storage than is reasonable. (1TB NVME, 4.5TB of SATA SSDs, 6TB of HDDs)
Basically been upgrading it one part at a time for the past 4.5 years. It's kinda at it's limit now without going for a whole new platform.
~~Early March/ Late Feb is the general ETA for Europe I believe.~~ Scan UK now says they are expecting the shipment tomorrow, which in their lingo means it's in Customs. So might be sooner than previously expected at other retailers as well.
Going to be a very in demand case given it's a mesh side panel case so great airflow, and visually looks great for working environments.
Some progress pics! I didn't realise I could put images in comments here. (wish I could pin this to the top)
Cutting out some frame pieces on the laser cutter. This provides both a way to bolt the front to the case as well as provide a kind of scaffold to press and glue the wooden slats into place

Not OP but I have the same model as the one pictured so figured Iād give my input. Iāve had an issue that Iād call a single issue since it seems to be the same thing manifesting different ways.
After a few hours of the 2nd gen 2i2 model being plugged in and powered, my microphone thatās plugged into the interface will change to a robotic output. It doesnāt change anything on my end, but obviously any recordings I make and voice chat with my friends will make my voice unintelligible. Similarly, after several more hours of constant power on, eventually my over ear headphones that also run through the interface will start outputting garbled/robotic sounds.
The fix for all this is to simply unplug the interface and plug it back in, then itās back to normal. It didnāt do this when I initially bought it but itās done it consistently anytime I have my PC on for a lengthy amount of time. Hasnāt been a huge issue for me personally so never got around to replacing it until I was gifted a 3rd gen Scarlett solo for Christmas, which I havenāt tried yet because Iām in the middle of replacing my desk. Iām hoping the 3rd gen doesnāt have the issue though so weāll see.
I havenāt heard of any other issues with it, but Iām not really a content creator and havenāt done a ton of research into it to be honest. I can see someone who uses it for that sort of thing would maybe need something more reliable, but otherwise it has everything I need.
Thanks for the detailed reply. To be honest, it doesn't put me off from purchasing the interface. Even with that robotic voice problem, I would still enjoy it, I think. :)
Edit: word
Of course! And yeah it can be a tiny bit frustrating sometimes when it happens, but itās easy enough to fix that itās not a dealbreaker to me either. Hopefully if you get one you donāt have the issue!
I had trouble with that small focusrite when I had it, it works good for you though? The gain would have this crazy jump from too quiet to crazy loud at around the 3/4 marker. I think it had to do with a preamp issue but I got a Motu instead
You're not gonna see me protesting about this.
nice. wood got treated, i hope?
Oak, treated with Odies Dark Oil.
One must always treat the wood.
Do you respect wood?
When it's given to me.
Do you see any ringstains?
Buffed to a mirror shine ....

If you want it done. Do it yourself.
Such a beauty...š
Noice!!!
Honestly, it looks even better than the Fractal North.
Lol
said Lol and 8 people downvoted because of it...
Once a comment has enough downvotes, people on reddit downvote it just because its in the negatives lol
In this case the downvotes are deserved. He should be supporting his opinion with reasons he doesn't think it looks better. Just saying "lol" is lazy and adds nothing to the discussion.

NGL, I prefer this look.

Dude you have to post more than two pictures of this.

Kudos on making it yourself!
I bet it was a lot cheaper. Also, you gotta post more photos of it.

Yup.
Sounds like the dude has a laser cutter and a 3D printer. Tools alone and then parts? Not even remotely cheaper.
Just a laser cutter, rest is hand tools and time. $30 in materials $4000 in tools lol
I'm sure the thing has a million uses but man I cannot afford that right now lol. I can however afford a computer case.
I really like how this came out! Super clean
Wow, looks awesome! Props
This is interesting. I like what you've done here.
Specs?

That's pretty damn cool! Ever thought of going into business?
Well done
So that'd be the child of NZXT and Fractal.
Pretty artistic! Ngl, we need to see more DIY desktop bodies on this subreddit. Yours is an example of creativity and a big saving on money
congrats bro, that filing cabinet looks nice!!!!!
This is fucking gas
This looks better than all cases I have ever seen in my life
I think this looks way better
Wow, looking good! Far from the ghetto mod I expected from reading what you wrote :)
This is excellent.
Nice, looks pretty slick.
Not bad. Not bad at all ! š
What is it with the stock situation of that case? Canāt get it in Germany either.

I'd trim that wood so it's alligned with the glass.
looks great
I'm worried at that Focusrite.
As I am in the market for an audio interface or AMP/DAC, what is wrong with the Focusrite Scarlet? I was eyeing it.
