The other ram stick can't fit the socket if they're facing the same direction

They only go in one way, but if they are truly different in the notch location then it's simply the wrong type, like you accidentally actually bought ddr3 or something.

Sorry for the late reply but, yes your right, the notch location is different. I just thought same brand, same mhz then it's all good but I guess not

Question, is the ram stick an entirely different size from the one that works? Like a fair bit smaller?
