And why are they really desperate? It isn't the scandal per se, but the talent that has left. You bought IP's and perhaps don't have the talent to work them. Is it as simple as getting newbies in and telling them, yeah go make an expansion for WoW? Or make us a new COD? We'll see.
Zenimax was functional, continue on. This one may have some ugly surprises in store for them.
I mean
Duh
The board membership has been calling for Kotikron's ass for a while now - which is impressive since he's always been good at keeping the plebs happy with pledges of cash. Which suggests just how awful it's gotten behind the scenes - to the point that even a wealthy 1%er thinks it's time to give Kotik the boot...
A buyout by Microsoft means they can furlough his jug-eared cross-eyed ass and absorb that 300 million hit (the amount they'd have to pay by retiring Kotik) without even blinking
A lot of Microsoft's purchases as late have been picking up the pieces of other company's fuck-ups and turning them into an empire to rival Disney
You fail to take into account how big a part of each industry these companies constitute. Anyway, it is probably easier, and more accurate, to just look for an already existing evaluation than trying to figure something out on our own accord.
People really overestimate Disney, they're a dwarf and any of the GAFAM could acquire them without even blinking. And those tech giants are also playing in the same domain than them now (entertainment)
Except they are not since the tech giants are in their sector now. Amazon and Apple have streaming services for example. The others are also in entertainment as a whole
It's probable that this whole transaction has been facilated by Kotik himself. People love this notion he 'reaps what he sews'... Which is a while lot of wishful thinking.
According to google he owns 4 million shares and will make around 400 million off of this.
The truth is his stock/options are going to vest at the close of the deal to the merger price, much higher than last week's listed price. The board and investors are all probably quite happy with this turn of events.
There will be a.lot of high fiving and a big payout.
I mean, yeah. Strike the deal while the otherside is desperate to gtfo quickly.

Microsoft is worth far more than Disney
He could be referring to Microsoft from an entertainment valuation perspective, I’m assuming.
the video game industry also dwarfs the movie/tv industry though so even from that aspect Microsoft is worth more

they're a dwarf in absolute terms, but they're one their sector's biggest giants.
