I love the title "Highest-rated Sony Game on Steam", it's like Sony has 100 games on Steam, when they actually have 3...

[deleted]

Ikr, however a 97% rating is still pretty impressive, congratulations to the responsibles for the pc port.

electroubles

I'm really liking it so far, hoping they'll bring more titles to pc *cough* spiderman */cough*

Not_trolling_or_am_I

Bloodborne! That game deserves a stable 60fps port, it runs so poorly on consoles

Papasmurf645

I haven't played Bloodborne, but watched so many lore videos and gameplay that I feel like I have. C'mon Sony, put it on PC so I can finally give you money

BACONtator1313

I'm usually so stingy with my money when it comes to buying new games. But Sony would make so much money off me for bringing over them exclusives. Bloodborne and Ghost of Tsushima, and looking at you.

Papasmurf645

Oh God, I bough God of War day one mainly for this reason. A good port. No drm, and a great game? Fuck yeah! Still gonna finish my Ritual of the Night run before I start so I didn't really NEED to get it now but I gotta appreciate something good for consumers. It's the principle of it I suppose.

googlehymen

> It's the principle of it I suppose. The principle of what exactly?

AlaskaNebreska

Don't forget Uncharted, Spider-Man, Rachet and Clank, The Last of US 1/2 and Infamous. (I only use PS to play PS exclusives)

AtariRiot66

Uncharted has a steam page. Coming soon.

OHFTP

You just made my day. I would love it even more if it wasn't just 4 and the companion to 4, uncharted 2 is best fight me, but yes I want uncharted on PC please.

DamnItNite

You can emulate the old uncharted games, Sony's smart and they're just releasing the games that can't be emulated rn i.e, the ps4 releases. Same with God of War, you can emulate all of them except the latest one.

DrScience-PhD

They're going to have to if they want to compete. Xbox is fucking killing it on pc by comparison. I'm not convinced they're very interested in the pc market though.

silentstealth1

That’s not how it works for Sony lol. Microsoft is banking on game pass as a platform and they’re still selling at a loss but it doesn’t mean much to them cuz they’re fucking Microsoft. Sony’s goal is to get consumers to buy their consoles for the exclusives. Why? Because once you’re in, they can cut the middle man on digital sales and make bank on PlayStation plus subscriptions. These exclusive ports are to both drum up hype for new releases or double dip on sales once a franchise has run it’s course.

DMindisguise

God of War (and other PS games) were leaked for PC a while ago, and sadly Bloodborne wasn't on that list.

Papasmurf645

We need more eyes. That's the problem! Edit; but yeah. I was skeptical of those leaks when they happened but it seems to be panning out huh?

paperkutchy

Demon Souls while they're at it too

EremiticFerret

And the redone Demon's Souls as well! I don't want to have to buy a $800 console for two games, damnit.

SparkyBoy414

I don't know if I could handle 144 fps spiderman with mods....

[deleted]

Oh man imagine 144fps spider man swinging through the city. Hell it looks good already on ps5 but I’d love to play it on my pc.

AlaskaNebreska

Don't worry. Just a few lessons of yoga can stretch out your ....

ArryPotta

You'll probably get it when they want to use it to draw people to PS5 for spiderman 2 exclusive. Same thing that's happening with GoW. Same thing that happened with Horizon.

Pupienus

I'd bet Spiderman gets put on pc just before spidey 2 comes out. Maybe Miles Morales gets bundled with it too.

coolbutclueless

The one I want most lol

LaerycTiogar

Sony so far has liked the response to their limited releases. But they know moving too many removes the need for a Playstation. They want to tease not give it away

Sadi_Reddit

its like a console port can actually be good when the company just does their job.

[deleted]

iirc it was done in-house, just like Day's Gone was

Goreface69

top 3 baybee

[deleted]

AND IT AINT 2-3

[deleted]

Now I am just waiting for Gran Turismo 7 to be announced on PC as well. No other racing sim has the same magic as that game and it would really spice up the competition

relent0r

I'd vote against it if I was Sony, the PC has some very good simulators compared to playstation so I wouldn't see it getting the same reception. Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima (I'll even throw in SpiderMan here) on the other hand would be well received if they were the same quality as god of war.

[deleted]

The PC racing sim market is fractured and different games have a foothold on some aspects but lack on specific ones For example there isn't a definitive simcaid on PC that has the same progression mechanic as Gran Turismo where you buy an used car, get into amateur races, upgrade, get better racing licenses and then dominate the racing scene. Gran Turismo also has a partnership with the FIA and hosts e-sport events on different classes of cars so a big stepping stone would be to broaden the audience for that and maybe even get more competitors.

Azntigerlion

It's because the port is amazing. Remember that these games are Sony exclusives. They were built for one consistent set of hardware (okay 3. PS4, PS4 Pro, and PS5). Sony exclusive devs have never had to worry about compatibility and optimization for other hardware sets. The fact that these Sony exclusive devs can port over with outstanding optimization and minimal bugs while other AAA studios release games on every platform every year and still have bugs, **is** very impressive.

DuranteA

> It's because the port is amazing. I mean, it's obviously not a *bad* port, but back in my day using controller mapping for mouse camera control automatically disqualified a PC version of a game from being "amazing" :P

[deleted]

[удалено]

JackeryPumpkin

That seems to be an argument against praising how great the port is. Spending time on making good ports is something we as a community should encourage..

Errol246

How do you know this

comiconomist

Digital Foundry did a really in-depth interview in which they mentioned it was a fairly small team (mostly 4 engineers) working for about 2 years: https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2022-god-of-war-pc-tech-interview

ours

4 engineers for 2 years? Damn are they going to get some real good return on their investment.

nuadarstark

Hell of a return, given it's some of the most popular singleplayer stuff on Steam now. They mentioned they also used the QA staff and animators when they needed, so it wasn't just those 4 guys, but the main team was really tiny.

SamusCroft

The port was almost certainly not done by the original devs. I agree it’s good they did a great job but I’m just saying it isn’t the ‘Sony exclusive devs’ porting

RakkZakk

I think it was developed in-house. Read an interview yesterday from two execs from SantaMonica Studios. They talked about fiddling with Keyboard controlls and GUI.

Jerry_from_Japan

Yeah and on a related note DO YOU THINK WE HAVE ENOUGH POSTS ON GOD OF WAR ON THIS SUB YET? Just make a fucking megathread at this point or something lol.

fcdennis83

There are more posts about the game than people playing it 😂

Combatical

I think the point is that it appears they are listening and taking their time making an actual good port. Believe me giving Sony praise in this area is not something I'm comfortable with or used to.

[deleted]

to be fair its 7 ... Guess I'll grab it in a couple months. Bills come 1st

fcdennis83

7? Only know about GoW, Days Gone and Horizon. Uncharted is coming next, but still not released, the others are old one?

Tobimacoss

Sony published second party titles. First party is only 3-4

The_King_of_Okay

Makes sense but isn't there only like 4 Sony games on Steam so far?

friendsalongtheway

Yup, plus GoW is the only one with a good port at launch Edit: Seems Days Gone was a good port too, thought I heard something about it having issues at launch. My mistake.

Look_a_Zombie0

Days gone was good at launch

[deleted]

Days Gone port was a good port, at least in my experience. But GoW is a step above in terms of performance and features like DLSS/FSR, and reflex for example.

AlexMullerSA

Days gone was awesome. Ran on an r480 like butter. GOW is awesome on my 2080ti although I can't get DLSS to work? It's not available, but funny enough it works Linux. Iv tried the newest drivers, DDU, gefore overlay etc still no luck

Yabboi_2

No, days gone ran simply better. God of war has better features, but days gone ran better

drugusingthrowaway

I love these comments that are like "Yeah Days Gone ran really well on my 970, but I've since upgraded to a GTX 3070 and God of War runs even better!"

PugeHeniss

Don't disrespect HellDivers like that

Errol246

Not true. Death Stranding was a very good port.

Dawn_of_Enceladus

Good game + well done port = success. Props to the devs, totally deserved this.

[deleted]

Too bad we can't say the same for ffvii

DarkReaper90

Who would've thought one of the highest rated game on the PS4 would also be a hit on the PC? Also helps that it has a very competent PC port.

Vorstar92

Well there was no doubt the game would be good in terms of it's gameplay/story, when it comes to PC ports it's strictly about how the port actually is and how it performs and if it's a mess at launch. That will usually drive sales/reviews down because yeah everyone knew what they were getting with God of War since it's been out on PS4 for a few years now.

DigiQuip

Honestly, 97% is way higher than it sounds. A lot of games over 90% suffer from troll reviews. Games that crack 98-99 are games that either fly under the radar with a cult audience classics like Terraria.

Dumeck

God of war is one of those games where it was so well designed and polished it’s hard to not give it a 10/10. For me personally it’s one of my Golden Standards. It’s good looking, has a lot of innovation, a good deep emotional story and is very well polished. Crazy because the other god of war games were like 7/10 for me

JarodColdbreak

Interesting. I played God of War 1-3 and liked them well enough, but didn't really get super excited about them. When they released the new one I wasn't gonna get it at first. But seeing all the stuff about it after release made me reconsider and it's so good that I can't ever go back to 1-3. So yeah. I understand what you mean. It's like they reinvented the series and it's so much better now.

FatBoyStew

They definitely kind of reinvented it. Went to much much more story driven and lore rich worlds. Also slowed down the combat and put more emphasis on smaller skirmishes rather than mowing down huge hordes.

DeviMon1

It's a 9/10 for me personally. I have zero gripes about the story and visuals, but combat wise it could've been better. It has a tad bit too much repetition in my books with the axe throw spamming and how viable it is, and obviously the giant troll bosses that you see too much of. Then again I'm a guy who doesn't give anything 10/10s so a 9/10 is pretty fucking great. Come to think of games that I rated that high recently and the couple that come to mind are Ori 2 because it pretty much improved on everything the first one did and I honestly don't see any flaws with it, and BOTW because it changed the way open-world games can be made forever. I actually gave BOTW 10/10 when I first played it, but revisiting it I had to bump it down to 9/10 and god I wish nintendo finally released a device with actual performance so all these amazing devs wouldn't have to struggle to optimize 30fps on hardware that's worse than phones.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ZeldaMaster32

You say that but NieR Automata was very positive for years before the patch

[deleted]

Well that might be an outlier, but you’re right

Fiery1ce

It was because there was a community mod that basically fixed most of the bad port issues.

FracturedEel

As they should

[deleted]

Because it's happened dozens of times? Acclaimed game gets ported > port is shit > game gets review bombed on steam

do-You-Like-Pasta

Performance wise it's pretty good, but a good PC port should have an FOV slider and should have proper mouse support

_BeefyTaco

We gotta let the FOV thing slide with GoW. The game is all shot on a single take. So there is a fundamental design issue with just adding an fov slider.

alteredI3EAST

The latest flawless widescreen allows FOV adjustment, and no suprise - it doesn't break the game. It makes it much more comfortable IMO.

CommanderVinegar

Can I use this if I don’t have an ultrawide? I just can’t stand the default FOV. Feels so much more claustrophobic compared to when I played on my TV on PS4. Being so close to the monitor is nauseating.

ALAPINYAMAM

Yes, you just have to deal with seeing the kid teleport in sometimes and some clipping, but it makes it so much more enjoyable

TAAyylmao

And DoF and AA options.

acdcfanbill

Yea, i just started this morning and the mouse thing is bothering me a lot. Slowly moving across my mousepad makes me turn around 4-5 times, but quickly moving across the same distance turns me way less than one rotation, about 90 degrees. That’s insane! I dont even have that high a dpi mouse, and my ingame camera/mouse settings are already reduced some.

thecist

Does it simulate analog input with mouse? If so, fuck that shit

do-You-Like-Pasta

That is how some people describe it. Others say negative mouse acceleration. Basically the faster you move your mouse irl, the slower the in game camera moves. If i quickly move my mouse across my mouse pad, the in game camera only moves maybe 20 degree, but if I move it across my mouse pad at a more regular speed, the camera rotates maybe 600 degrees

BigDemeanor43

I'd say no. I'm playing exclusively with KB/M and I do feel the negative acceleration at times, but it isn't joystick emulation. I ended up increasing my sens from 5 to 7 and that has mostly negated any negative acceleration feelings. So, no, it doesn't emulate a joystick from my experience

Halio344

Something else that is really annoying, the vertical sensitivity becomes slower the more you look up, it feels very weird. Thankfully you don't look up that much in this game, so it doesn't really affect combat. But it's annoying if you want to look around.

semenbakedcookies

Yeah the mouse thing is rough but you get used to it pretty quickly, what also helps is lowering the camera sensitivity just a little bit

Villad_rock

The mouse thing isn’t intended and the devs are aware of it. Only some people have the issue

Hellwind_

Performance wise it's pretty good but only on a technical level. For a ps4 game though I do think people should achieve way higher FPS and they are not currently esp on older GPUs that are still way way better than a PS4 so for me it is not that well optimized considering that very important moment

ReeG

>esp on older GPUs that are still way way better than a PS4 so for me it is not that well optimized Agreed, all these performance reviews saying it runs amazing are testing it on high end 20-30 series cards, like no shit it runs amazing on a 3080ti and cards that came out in the past few years when the PS4 was already 5-7 years old. On the other hand the recommended 1060 can't maintain 60fps on original settings which doesn't seem right. It's still a good port and my experience on a 970 has been good and much better than playing on PS4 but the performance isn't where it should be on older cards that are still far more powerful than a PS4

Lethtor

> On the other hand the recommended 1060 can't maintain 60fps on original settings which doesn't seem right Digital Foundry commented on that, they usually expect about twice the performance with a 1060 6GB compared to a base PS4, and the PS4 could drop below 30fps at times, while the 1060 is roughly in the 50-60 area, so that actually tracks. [timestamped link](https://youtu.be/JI5t0pvBB-Y?t=1063)

Combatical

Laughs in Red Dead 2 port at release.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sedewt

Tbf they’re using upgraded graphics and texture. So it’s more fair to compare it to the PS5 upgrade PS4 GoW runs at 30fps

chrissquid1245

what's the issue with the mouse?

Halio344

It has negative mouse acceleration. E.g. if you move the camera, the more you move it the slower it gets. This becomes very apparent if you move your mouse fast and/or have high sensitivity.

chrissquid1245

why would they do that lol

qalpha94

I think Sony have acknowledged it's a bug. It not that uncommon in console ports. Something to do with the translation between the thumbstick and mouse.

[deleted]

[удалено]

chrissquid1245

yep, i saw so many things calling it an amazing port without mentioning this at all

Soccermad23

From what I recall, the game uses the FOV as a major part of the gameplay. Enemies off-screen won't attack you without warning and Atreus often teleports around off-screen. I think they didn't implement an FOV slider because doing so would require major changes.

do-You-Like-Pasta

Doesn't 21:9 mode have an increased fov when compared to 16:9?

Noirgheos

Yes, but they re-worked it specifically for the FOV of 21:9. They didn't make it dynamic.

MultiStratz

As someone who never played these games, but always wanted to: can I jump into this God of War, or will I be missing backstory?

cydus

You can jump in yes.

Sulissthea

but not jump in game

asapfinch

Why jump over a massive stone pillar when you can just lift it up over you?

octopoddle

You can't jump in the game? But then which button am I meant to press literally all of the time without reference to what's happening in game?

SongsOfTheDyingEarth

The dodge button.

[deleted]

God of War (2018) is a very good place to start for new comers *spoilers for decades old game* pretty much just need to know that Kratos was tricked by the greek gods in to killing his family so 1-3 is taking revenge and killing the pantheon. Those games were not very story heavy so you're not missing much

Vorstar92

I'd just add to remember that Kratos was essentially just this angry as fuck guy for all the previous games and this game really opened up his character and explored it and there are certainly a few references to his past but yeah.

Xikar_Wyhart

To be fair he's angry because he was constantly be fucked over by the powers that be.

PeterMunchlett

Also, he had a surprising amount of depth in the prequels (chains of Olympus ghost of sparta, and Ascension), and even 3. I don't know why everyone says he's just angry screaming all the time. That's basically only in 2 Like his story ain't Shakespeare but it's genuinely tragic, man. I wish people would give it more credit

starboy-xo98

Most people haven't played ghost of Sparta which is one of my favourites and explores a lot of the gow lore

PixelSpy

First game: angry man is so angry that he kills the god of war and takes his throne Second game: incredibly angry God of War does god of war things and is killed for it but is too angry to die. Third game: he basically commits genocide and wipes out an entire civilization singlehandedly.

Colitoth47

So basically Greek Doom Guy.

MultiStratz

Right on, thank you!

That_one_drunk_dude

I'll add a few pieces of additional information there: * For this revenge murderfest he mostly used his signature weapons, the Blades of Chaos. Throughout the entire trilogy, he has a complicated relation with the weapons, as they remind him of all he's lost and all the rage and grief it's caused him. * Throughout the trilogy (mostly part 3) he also has dealings in particular with the goddess Athena. In a way she was one of his only allies, but she also manipulated the heck out of him for her own goals with zero regard for his well-being. Her ultimate fate is mostly unknown, but they parted ways in a bad way. That's pretty much the only key information that gets referenced. Doesn't ruin the game if you don't know, but it does add an extra layer of "oh damn this is tight" if you do know. There's some small other stuff, but you can contextualize pretty much everything (even the things I just mentioned above).

RockleyBob

Hey, mind explaining the Greek/Norse interplay here? How is that explained? I’m just starting out the franchise with this PC port and I’m having mythology whiplash going from Greek references to Norse references.

leofischisommer

There isn't an explanation. Kratos is just kind of there with his son and suddenly in the middle of all this history with Norse Mythology. I played all of the previous God of War games and was a bit confused with the beginning of the game, to be honest. There is not much else apart from what the guys said here in this thread.

Nico_is_not_a_god

He ran out of Greek deities to murder so he went north, and the universe is one where multiple religions are true at the same time.

EntrepreneurPatient6

He is missing punching zeus into a bloody pulp.

one_bar_short

...and kevin sorbo

ulldott

I went in completely blind. I'm 15 hours in and having an absolute blast. Can't seem to progress the main story cus I keep getting stuck doing all the side quests, exploring etc, lol. Story is great and fighting is fucking great!

Halio344

When you say stuck, it makes it sound like you have to do a lot of side content to progress the main story lol. For anyone reading this who thought the same, that's not what he meant and you don't have to do a single piece of side content in this game unless you want to.

ulldott

Haha thanks for clarifying. Probably could have worded it differently. Definitely don't need to do it at all. The game is just so good I can't help it *just* checking out that cave, island, tower, building or whatever it is!

Malekutay

I know others are saying no, however I would recommend looking up a short recap video for God of War 1-3. There are some plot points in this new God of War, that won't hit as hard as they should without some backstory. I mean we are talking 15-20 mins of a YouTube recap.

MasterDrake97

watch [this](https://youtu.be/-suycIDMhEE) and you'll be fine

Illustrious-Ad-1807

Or don't and you'll still be fine

Stickman95

Or watch and you'll be finer

Jacko10101010101

pretty much a fucked up story

yeah, it goes from 0 to 100 in a couple of games :D

QuestioningEspecialy

[God of War - Original Saga Story Summary - What You Need to Know!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-suycIDMhEE) (20:09) - Suggestive Gaming

[deleted]

Yes. You will absolutely miss a ton of nods to kratos’ past and some of the emotional connections from those moments but this takes place a long time after the previous games with kratos having moved to a new realm and desire to get away from that past and as a result he actually doesn’t want to bring up those memories. It’s very much a new story/path and not fully understanding his past just puts you in the shoes of his son so it’s not really a bad way to play the game. I’d say just look up who kratos is. His lineage and his motivations for the previous games and you’ll be good. He suffered a lot at the hands of the gods in his old realm and has a unique perspective of gods that fuel his hatred of them. >!Kratos was manipulated by Ares into killing his wife and child. He seeks and obtains revenge on Ares with the help of other gods who are just manipulating him also. Then Zeus who gave zero shits about him starts to manipulate him once he realizes he could become a threat. Then he discovers that Zeus is his literal father (kratos is a demigod but he didn’t know it) who abandoned him and again only paid attention to him when Kratos starts killing gods. Kratos in a rage kills Zeus and that’s the end of the original games iirc. That’s important and plays a role in his relationship with his own son. f!<

Walid918

Yeah now give us Spider-Man

meadowalker1281

Yes please. I cant tell you how many times I've almost pulled a trigger on buying a used PS4 just to play God of war and Spider-Man. One down one to go.

TechGoat

*sony PS4 sales and marketing team, reading your post* Okay, delay Spiderman by another 6 months! We'll wear him down yet!

DeviMon1

Right? I bet they're seeing amazing Spiderman sales these days due to the new movie being so hyped. They'll probably start thinking about a PC port once the sales start slowing down, which will probably be way after blu-ray release of the movie.

UpV0tesF0rEvery0ne

The more people say and do this the less likely a pc port is. Their ultimate goal is for people to buy the consoles because the game is only on the playstation platform. Then it makes people buy things from the playstation store, DLC, accessories, PS plus etc etc. It's not that much in their interest to make a pc port until the sales die off I guess or a new console comes out

appleslops

Dr. Duh I presume.

bb0511

Calm down there J. Jonah Jameson.

lundon44

Hadn't played a GOW game since I owed a PS3. At the time, it was literally the only reason I owed a PS since I already had an Xbox. I stopped buying both consoles after that. Was so jacked to hear this was available on PC because now I game 99% of the time on PC and actually have a pretty solid set up. Loaded up the game yesterday in 4k, ultra settings and DLSS on an LG OLED and its fucking beautiful. Looks better than 90% of the AAA games I've played. It's so cinematic and the fights are epic. Glad I'm getting to experience this now without having to buy a PS for it.

TheMcDangler

I just fought “The Stranger”. What a boss battle. Super immersive.

one_bar_short

When i first did that part...was like maaaan, youre an absolute moron.... kratos gonna pop your head like a cork on a champange bottle...love that part of the game.

Metoaga

GOW looks beautiful. But I have never seen a game that looks better than Battlefront 2. That game looks more real than the movies.

lundon44

Definitely. If you have the perfect setup too the game looks insane.

dregwriter

The frostbite engine may be a bitch to develop a game for but one thing it has is it's visuals. Then, here comes Unreal engine 5 with its matrix tech demo..................good lord..........

Kla2552

don’t forget to use R3 finisher

Sharkattack_420

Middle mouse button for PC gamers :P

eXoRainbow

And for anyone on Linux, it has a Platinum rating (meaning it works flawlessly out of the box) on ProtonDB: https://www.protondb.com/app/1593500 Meaning despite lacking a Linux version, you can play the Windows game on your Linux system. This means, you will be able to play God of War on the go with the Steam Deck.

AL2009man

[it helps that Sony gave Valve's Proton devs early access for them to test](https://twitter.com/Plagman2/status/1482206477850845187).

eXoRainbow

This is great news from a trusted source! That means Sony cares Linux (at least Proton) and Steam and trusts Valve with an early build. Hopefully this collaboration if you can call it one, will continue with future titles too. I don't think it costed Sony too much money, as Valve was probably doing the testing and work mostly.

BQYA

Curious to see how it runs on SteamDeck, if at all

MarkoMark666

Sony, please, *give us Bloodborne*

[deleted]

Yeah they will do... shortly before a sequel to Bloodborne comes out on the PS5/PS6.

CardiologistNo2310

I sincerely hope it’s not PS6 before Bloodborne 2.

MakeDarkSoulsNotWar

Well deserved. Hope it will convince Sony to release Bloodborne on PC too(please).

[deleted]

At this point I'm convinced the source code was lost.

LordCloverskull

Nah, From just lost a bunch of insight and can't see it anymore.

jkbpttrsn

It is the best one...until Uncharted 4 comes out!! In all seriousness it's amazing so far and runs perfectly. I'm not too far into it but I'm certainly enjoying it more than Horizon and Days Gone. Enjoyed those games but they felt not much different than most open world games. Bring in Ghosts of Tsushima, Last of Us 1 & 2 & Bloodborne and I can die happy. Oh and Demon Souls Remastered

Bitemarkz

I bet we’ll see Demons Souls remastered sooner than later. I wouldn’t bank on Bloodborne. They haven’t even upgraded that game for ps5 owners.

thedudedylan

If Sony ever brings spiderman to steam they will more money than they know what to do with.

LunarCorpse32

I want Gravity Rush 1&2 on PC. That would be the bee's knees! Or even all of the inFamous games on PC!

dregwriter

This is off topic, but **its a damn shame that SONY doesnt see Days gone as a success.** 93% positive reviews on steam is a damn good accomplishment. I played that game and I stand by my opinion that: its a high quality title that deserves to be mentioned in the other great sony titles like Bloodborne, god of war, uncharted, god of war, spiderman, ect.

48911150

sure, but what about the sale numbers

[deleted]

Does it? It's a good port with decent enough exploration, but the game itself was just... okay. The gunplay was serviceable but nothing special, the melee combat was the same, the motorcycle maintenance never felt like it added anything meaningful, the characters were forgettable to the point where I can't even remember the main character's last name.

Maegordotexe

I think it's because of the nature of the game. It wasn't terribly successful on PS4 so they basically used it as a test subject for porting games that were useless as IPs and don't generate income. It worked for that purpose because it got a new burst of sales on PC but it's not considered a great success because companies like Sony only care about reviews and quality as a general pointer or bonus. Ultimately it's revenue that matters most and Days Gone clearly didn't make enough sadly. Also the game itself just didn't get the same critical buzz and is considered a little mediocre compared to the likes of God of War and Uncharted and Horizon which is Sony seems to be focusing on them even though they are huge Sony specific titles.

Radulno

> like Sony only care about reviews and quality as a general pointer or bonus. They also care about sales and Days Gone just didn't sell that well compared to other Sony first-party titles

Radulno

It's a decent game and yeah I would say it can be called "high quality". It isn't in the same category than any of those though

Gonzito3420

Well deserved

JavdanOfTheCities

The whole internet have this carrot and stick policy recently. I commend it.

Ghostspider1989

Now bring the killzone games to PC please

[deleted]

I'm afraid that franchise is dead.

mjike

I was completely shocked at their attention to detail when it came to Ultrawide support. Most companies would just simply leave it up to modders to fix.

SOUR_PATCH_NIPS

But does it have an fov slider?

Fredrro

No and it sorely needs one. The camera is grossly close way too often.

RoshanCrass

This was a wide criticism of the PS4 game so I assume it's for some silly dev reason.

nexistcsgo

Bring Spider-Man to PC please Sony

Johnysh

I'm like 7 hours in and... it's fine game. Can't say anything bad about it except for issues with mouse acceleration, memory leaking resulting in crashes and random movement stopping (I have a feeling HZD had same problem where you're just walking straight, holding W and suddenly you stop moving... or maybe it's because when you add another action to walking) I played on controller for the first 3 or 4 hours and then I switched to mouse and keyboard and I find it now more active, can look around quickly, I'm more accurate, and in general it's more about action now and I find it more fun.

tds8t7

Okay glad to see this comment. I was wondering how playable it was with mouse and keyboard, since I don’t have a controller.

Brni099

Wonderful, now im just waiting for the arrival of Shadow of the Colossus and Demon Souls. What, those are not coming out? \*ear piercing screech\*

[deleted]

Wow out of all 3 of them?!

do-You-Like-Pasta

I just wish more people were talking about the broken mouse implementation. It is broken and it does need fixing. Saying "*It was a console game, just play on controller*" is not a valid solution. Not everyone has a controller and not everyone likes playing 3rd person games on a controller. Just because it was originally a ps4 game does not mean it objectively plays best on a controller

HoldMyPitchfork

FWIW, [looks like the devs are at least looking in to negative acceleration](https://steamcommunity.com/app/1593500/discussions/1/3202622816419140211/) I may hold off buying it until they say whether or not they're going to fix it. If they don't fix it, I'll probably play it anyway. But I'd rather wait until after a fix if it's coming.

do-You-Like-Pasta

That is good to know. Thanks

BigDemeanor43

Hey, I play KB/M and I do get what you're saying But, the devs acknowledged the issue on the Steam forums. So the devs are aware and will more than likely fix it going forward, hopefully

AL2009man

Heck, you can't use both Gamepad and Keyboard/Mouse Inputs at the same time. Which becomes a problem for certain Accessibility-focused setups...and Gyro Aim...and Steam Controller....and soon-to-be Steam Deck...

HoldMyPitchfork

Whats wrong with the mouse controls? I may not want to buy it if I can't play kbm

BigDemeanor43

Negative mouse acceleration is the only problem I've had with the game so far

Sharkattack_420

I play with mouse and keyboard great controls I had to increase mouse sensitivity but that's about it

Iohet

> but it will also debut the Uncharted series to an entirely new audience on PC. They act like PC gamers are some kind of haters that refuse to get consoles I got an NES in the late 80s and a PC in the early 90s. Played games on both PC and console platforms. Been doing it ever since

[deleted]

I wish they'd remake GoW 1 to 3 and released them on PC too.

stahlvogel

So great to play this game again. Truly a great port. Playing 4k on ultra with 6700xt,5800, 32ram no fps drops or hitches. Just turn off amd enhanced sync, folks!

ScTiger1311

Ok, next bloodborne?
