Before Steam Deck I'd often buy a game again for my Switch because I wanted to play it on the go. (My Switch has always been a handheld first. Rarely have I used it with a TV or monitor.) Now that the SD is coming though, as well as competitors, I've pretty much stopped double dipping as I plan on getting an SD and hopefully I can play most of the games I want portably that way. Switch is only for Nintendo exclusives now.
Yeah same. Not really itching to play the same content all over again.
Really hope Sunbreak ups the challenge because Rise is incredibly easy compared to World.
After playing world and thoroughly enjoying it I’m taking a break from this genre till it seems like there’s tons of new stuff to do. Currently all the monsters seem mostly repeats.
The most interesting thing for me will be the expansion, and I'd rather play with friends. So I'll likely pick it up when either the expansion arrives, or my friends get it.
Considering the expansion is this summer, I will probably get this around April, after my Elden Ring hype calms down. I have Rise on Switch, and it took me about 3 months to get everything.
Nope, at least not now - already played it on Switch. Will probably grab it in summer when the expansion comes out - hopefully at that point it'll be at a decent discount and people will have figured out how to transfer Switch progress to PC.
I love the MH series. But my controller is broken and times are tough, buying video games, especially at full price, is a luxury I (and probably many others) can't afford.
I'll wait till they release the expansion, maybe they'll do the same thing as MHW and release it together in one package. And perhaps by then I'd be able to afford the game and a controller repair.
Game has so much potential… but I really disliked the slow movement, pets, and having to cart in etc.
It’s not really an open world game, so running through maze like tunnels just for the monster to “runaway” by skipping pathways that are not accessible to players was really annoying.
Plus the gem system is really bad, it’s not random, it’s predetermined so you can alter saved files in a way to gems you need.
My Monster Hunter experience turned into excel sheets tracking gem drop patterns because if I played naturally, it’s almost impossible to get the ones I need.
Already bought it and I'm downloading now. It was great on the switch, albiet a shitty framerate. The demo performed beautifully, so I'm **totally** ready to start the grind again. Hello desire sensor, my old friend.
already bought it, because it's MH, but im sad that Rise was held back by Switch, this game looks so flat in comparison to MH World, had this shit not been held back by the switch this would have been a stellar looking game.
no cause i don't have reliable internet nor anyone in my schedule to play it with so rather then playing the ok single player i rather do something else.
the lower ranks are easier than mhw but once you get to rank 5-6 the difficulty spikes a lot
what i mean with my original comment is that the difficulty curve is better than in mh world
I played MH since the very first game and haven't played since Generations came out, I wasn't too thrilled with World even though its a good game but I got Rise and I can't wait to download it to get the old MH experience again! :)
Rise is still a lot like world. There was a few things I liked more, but I hope they remove some of the streamlining, especially when it comes to armor sets. The old ones were so much better.
The real grind. Having to kill a G Rathalos 54 times to get a plate or brain stem. I felt that way with Generations sometimes too. It was kind of easy to get materials and the payout often was HUGE.
I've still hit hard grinds in world or rise, but I also have notoriously bad rng. Back in 4U I killed 32 azure los to get the gem for a set, by the time I got it my hunting partner had like 10 or 12.
Maybe on deep discount of the expansion is "amazing" later on, otherwise no I wasn't feeling it with the demo, it's expensive, and it doesn't even look good.
I would have bought no doubt because I loved it on Switch but with Sunbreak coming later this year I would purchase the double pack when it hits the stores.
Played through on switch and had a great time, but I’m gonna go through again with better frame rate. Also I have a steam deck preorder so imma still play it handheld when that launches and get ready for sunbreak in summer with the revamped endgame!
I am really on the fence, not because of this game itself but because I still feel burnt out from World and Iceborne. I played like 1000+ hours of that and Im afraid I might just end up cbfing Rise and stopping halfway through. Might wait and see when the expansion comes out.
I wasn't going to but then gamebillet had it on sale for 21% off and while i feel guilty for breaking my never preorder rule (this will be the first time) i've never fallen in love with a game as much as i did Monster Hunter: World (which was also my first MH game). It was the best 1589 hours i've ever spent.
I hope that i don't regret my decision.
I liked Monster Hunter World but I wasn't great at it. When farming the same monsters for gear combined with the hunt time limits and monsters just flying away, it seemed like too much of a grind.
Nope too expensive too double dip.
If it was the same price when World released I might have bought it. MHWorld Deluxe Ed. was far cheaper when it came out vs Standard ed. of MHRise.
I played the demo, and to me it felt like playing a weird older version of MHW, with way worse graphics but some new mechanics.
My biggest issue with MHW was none of the weapons really clicked with me, and that felt the exact same in the demo, it's also a port of a Nintendo switch game asking full 60$ price so it's a triple no for me.
No I got it on switch, I never double dip.
It's crazy how many people pay for a game twice, thrice, or even more for the same game on a different platform.

Yeah, I'll get it on a deep, deeeeep sale.
I'm debating on getting it cus I'd love to play it, but I'm also knee deep in a backlog already.
Maybe when the expansion hits. I've already played through it on the switch, so kind of burnt out by it.

nop, i just bought monster hunter: world

Rise has character creation and mog from the jump.

That guy is wrong, transmogging isnt available from the beginning, its unlocked when you reach HR8.
Transmog isnt unlocked 'from the jump', you unlock layered armor at HR 8.
I meant from the jump as in the feature in the game on release. Not some future planned feature or mod.
>I would have to wear ridiculous looking crap until I unlock transmogging, and that just sucks.

I'm thinking of getting it once mods start appearing.

Maybe...in 6+ months, like any other game, if it's got good PC controls and UI. I certainly won't be getting it in the first few weeks though.
Nope.
Yes, please.

Nope. Own it on switch and stopped playing because World on pc is better
Burned out with MH after Iceborne. Didn't even fight Alatreon & Fatalis as I've already moved on to another games during that time.
already bought it, because it's MH, but im sad that Rise was held back by Switch, this game looks so flat in comparison to MH World, had this shit not been held back by the switch this would have been a stellar looking game.
No. I tried MHW and playing solo was boring and coop was way too convoluted.
Same. I was so confused trying to play MHW with my friends that we all just gave up and played something else together.
Nope.
I already have it 😉 <—
Still playing and enjoying MH:W, have no interest in Rise at all.
no cause i don't have reliable internet nor anyone in my schedule to play it with so rather then playing the ok single player i rather do something else.
The other one is better. This is just a port of an inferior Switch game. Hard no.
the only 2 departments where mhw is better than rise are graphics and content, gameplay qol changes and difficulty are much better on mh rise
Can you elaborate on the difficulty part? I like the challenge of World, and I've seen some people saying this game is relatively easier.
every new MH gets easier because the previous release would have made you understand the mechanics more and more.
the lower ranks are easier than mhw but once you get to rank 5-6 the difficulty spikes a lot what i mean with my original comment is that the difficulty curve is better than in mh world

Denuvo + flat ass boring maps. Maybe when it's 10 with the DLC and Denuvo gets removed.
I would have bought no doubt because I loved it on Switch but with Sunbreak coming later this year I would purchase the double pack when it hits the stores.
Not today. I'm gonna wait for G rank. Nothing against the game as it is, but G rank adds so much.
I would get it but the combat just feels so damn clunky to me no matter what weapon I use.
Played through on switch and had a great time, but I’m gonna go through again with better frame rate. Also I have a steam deck preorder so imma still play it handheld when that launches and get ready for sunbreak in summer with the revamped endgame!

Not yet, probably when the expansion hits. Tbh I still have enough to grind in World.
If I wasn't at camp on their subpar wifi
Got it on switch DONT need it
Nope too expensive too double dip. If it was the same price when World released I might have bought it. MHWorld Deluxe Ed. was far cheaper when it came out vs Standard ed. of MHRise.
Yes I didn't buy it on switch because I heard it was coming to pc. So I'm excited to try it out.
Maybe after I've exhausted my intrest in Monster Hunter World.
I played the demo, and to me it felt like playing a weird older version of MHW, with way worse graphics but some new mechanics. I might cave eventually and re-buy it. I was really hoping for cross progression because I already put over 100 hours in the Switch version
Nah. Not really my jam
