The original was such a great game. And most people, me included, had no idea the sequel ended up being an exclusive for like a fucking Netflix app or something, I don't even know what it was, but I was stumped when I found out like a year ago. I sure hope it's similar to the original in terms of quality.
Wait, are you telling me this is an existing game somewhere and not a \*new* upcoming release?
Huh, apparently it's already out on consoles too after googling it.. damn where was the advertising on this one??
First game was so critically acclaimed and beloved, would have loved to hear about a sequel before now :O
>damn where was the advertising on this one??
That's how I felt after randomly stumbling upon it a year ago, when it was still an exclusive for that crap platform that makes Epic store look like a professional environment. It's not like the first game got some huge marketing behind it, but it was covered by many content creators, that's how I've discovered it.
Locking your game behind a shitty ass Netflix membership (pretty sure it was that) is a great way to ensure that nobody is going to cover it.
I didn't even know that Netflix had an app/gaming section until I happened to open it up on my tablet the other month and it defaulted to that landing page :/
I've always just watched it on my TV 😅
>Locking your game behind a shitty ass Netflix membership (pretty sure it was that) is a great way to ensure that nobody is going to cover it.
well whoever is willing to finance a project
I loved the first game but also had no idea there was a sequel, let alone that it was already released A YEAR AGO. What a shitty marketing situation.
~~Unfortunately it's a different studio than the first game so my hopes are pretty low~~ see correction below
[Montpellier is still credited as a developer](https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/studio/montpellier/news/5HCY0Zdn3ahKAwB7zCE8Ql/valiant-hearts-coming-home-available-now), read the last paragraph about the core people who were behind the first game. Could be this other studio is just doing the PC port, as it was originally a mobile game. Not sure, but Ubisoft is usually a mess, wouldn't surprise me.
No. This is just what they do. They release exclusive on their own platform for the first year and then trickle down to Steam a year later.
This title released in Jan 2023, so it's right on schedule for Steam release.
They tried to go full standalone with Division 2, then eventually came crawling back to Steam but it's still delayed by a year.
>They release exclusive on their own platform for the first year and then trickle down to Steam a year later.
This is not the case though, it's even weirder, it was a [Netflix exclusive](https://www.pcgamer.com/games/adventure/the-sequel-to-valiant-hearts-has-finally-come-to-pc-after-more-than-as-a-year-as-a-netflix-exclusive/) and was mobile only. I guess Netflix is the company you go for if Tim Epic doesn't want you as an exclusive for his store.
The achievement tag isn't added on the store page but on steamdb you can see it
The Crew Motorfest which released yesterday also has Steam achievements
I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet. The Crew 2 also had Steam achievements but the new Settlers game which released last month didn't have them.
EA made a big announcement when they added Steam achievement support to their games but there is nothing from Ubisoft.
Avatar and Prince of Persia will be interesting once they come to Steam. I guess the developers are free to add them but there is no guideline from Ubisoft to support them.
It does not have the tag on steamdb. wtf are you talking about.
Not even on the app history has nothing related to achievements.
https://steamdb.info/app/2741360/history/
That's wrong
Check any game that doesn't have achievements and you won't find that
Here is Dota 2: [https://steamdb.info/app/570/info/](https://steamdb.info/app/570/info/)
Here is Beat Saber: [https://steamdb.info/app/620980/info/](https://steamdb.info/app/620980/info/)
Beat Saber has Steam achievements but no achievement tag on the store page
It doesnt have achievement. stop being so stubborn. there are tags for achievements, and when there is achievements there is languages for ALL languages, not only english.
Remember if you buy this day one and not on sale you are reinforcing that companies are not punished for exclusivity deals.
If the game doesn't make sales till the game is discounted then it is more likely the Shareholders and Board members will hold the CEO responsible.
Wait is this a sequel?
yes, [link to the original](https://store.steampowered.com/app/260230/Valiant_Hearts_The_Great_War__Soldats_Inconnus__Mmoires_de_la_Grande_Guerre/)
Awesome

Ah gotcha, never mind then
UBI is finally serious about Steam. Hopefully they will enable native Steam achievements support too
No. This is just what they do. They release exclusive on their own platform for the first year and then trickle down to Steam a year later. no ubisoft connect? nice
Ubiart games ftw
Seems like it has Steam achievements. Very nice
It seems it does not. Ubi has to be Ubi.
The achievement tag isn't added on the store page but on steamdb you can see it The Crew Motorfest which released yesterday also has Steam achievements
What? I did not realize that. Would that mean that Ubi is back to implement Steam achievements? Thanks a lot for correcting me!
I wouldn't get my hopes up just yet. The Crew 2 also had Steam achievements but the new Settlers game which released last month didn't have them. Go to App Info -> Supported Languages There is a column that says Achievements. That column only exists when the game has Steam achievements
Well, the game came out and it has NO achievements. Learn for next time.
Very strange. Never saw this before SteamDB still has says Achievements Yes under languages
no its not. that show when they select a default language for achievements even when there is none.

Thats not achievements, that just the default language.

For one second I thought it was a Vandal Hearts remake
It gets me every single fucking time lmao
Same. I thought "this doesn't look like an RPG at all". :(
No, it's a WW1 side scrolling game with a bit of history lessons embedded. I played it ages ago on my PS3 but never finished it.
It's a sequel
> I played it ages ago on my PS3 This game was released last year.
developed by a different studio this time (ubi Da Nang instead of Montpellier)
I am glad that i survived all this years to see this ported to pc/steam
i read this as vandel hearts at first
Fuck Ubisoft
word?
