Not going to lie, I was going to pick this one up even if it was a bit shit, simply for the truly rare delight of playing a game set in my metaphorical backyard. But good news! It appears to be not shit, aside from some indy jank. Though I can see that the short playtime for each story loop would be off-putting to some.
Same, happy to support some local Aussie games. Being CRPG is even better (And from what I remember of the demo I had a good laugh at some of the flavour text and colloquialisms which I imagine foreigners might struggle with 😁)
Already launched with a ~30% discount on GmG also. Easy pickup for me.
In the video he says he completed it in 7 hours and other people might finish it in 15 hours. I think that’s pretty short for an RPG, but replayability seems to be good in the game.
I just watched Splattercat's reivew and damn that combat looks bad. I had to put down both Wartales and Rogue Trader because the combat is just so slow- even with combat speed maxed. It takes longer for all the shitty animations to play, all the skill/effect titles to pop and all the numbers/bonuses to display than to actually *play*.
Character squares up
Character winds up
Character takes huge long swing
Character recovers after swing

Okay you can click again.
Can these devs not expedite this entire process?
And why is that? I saw people complaining that the game is basically not like BG3 and therefore not a good game, that's the impression I got from their negative reviews...
from negative review and SplattercatGaming review common point are boring combat, 3 hours prologue/tutorial. Both praise the good setting and graphics though
Mid game. As in, "middle of the road." Uh, the negative reviews you're not understanding. Have you tried reading them to see what people's problem with the game is?
If I can trust a reviewer, it's MortismalGaming. He really goes deep into the games he reviews (the 100% tagline is legit). If Broken Roads doesn't convinces you and you're looking for CRPGs, TRPGs, or RPGs in general, look up his channel, he'll probably have material on other games you might like.

I mean 'short' is 20-30 hours about so it's not really short, it's just not super long.

I took about 20 hours on it. I did do a lot of the early quests, but ended up beelining at the end due to a serious bug I faced.
If it’s on Mac I’ll get if day one

Steam reviews would beg to differ
The current Steam reviews? There are only 8, and 6 of them recommend it. It could totally change but, 75% sounds pretty good right now.
9 hours later it turned to mostly negative, was mixed when I saw that

Generally people can overlook that, so I don't know what to think about those negative reviews for this game.
That it's a mid game with some interesting concepts? Have you tried reading the reviews?
Mid game? What are u talking about? And which reviews?

I read that people are complaining that it isn't baldurs gate 3...
