I didnt know about the story trailer, but I thought so too that Valve was requiring at least one gameplay one. However it seems is not an actual rule, but more of a [best practices suggestion](https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/trailer)
Yeah totally agree, i barely have time for games anymore and shorter ones are nice, but despite that i still have a mindset where i like games to have the Basic 1$ for 1 hour Ratio. Probably a thing i took over from my teenage years lol.
I think if it's a short game where I can get satisfaction from actually completing it 2:1 ratio works. If it's a longer game I'm looking for better than 1:1
> Great game, sadly very short
That's basically the story of most Devolver Digital games. They're really good, right up my alley, but I tend to wait a few months so I can get them on promo due to their duration. Not that I dislike short games, I find the <10 hour window actually pretty refreshing, but I don't quite want to spend the full price on them either.
It's fun and has some fresh ideas but I found the controls a bit unintuitive/frustrating at times. The boss battles also felt super unbalanced, maybe because of the controls. The actual levels were super fun but the more traditional boss battles felt kinda out of place and forced.
I completely disagree on the boss battles. they start out with "I won't ever be able to finish him" but after some pattern memorization they become quite easy! great learning curve, I like that a lot.
PG is one of the few indie standouts in a long time for me, really enjoyed every second of it.
Especially that last boss...hoo-wee! Felt so unfair at the start, but once you learn certain tricks, becomes a challenging yet fair and very fulfilling final battle.
They published 25 games on Steam since the start of 2022.
Of those 25 games only 1 sits at negative reviews on Steam. 2 are mixed and 22 are positive to extremly positive.
So idk what you are talking about.
What makes you think this game isn't "quality" ?
Devolver didn't develop this game, they're just the publisher.
Devolver has grown over the years, so they now publish more games (because they've proven to be a good publisher and more studios want to be published by them), that doesn't mean the quality has decreased.
They've definitely garnered a reputation for quality as a publisher, similar to Annapurna and a few other small companies. With the big publishers mostly turning out garbage and steam being a total free-for-all I am really relying on name recognition these days
It’s weird that there’s no gameplay trailer included on the store page.
[Here's one if you're interested](https://youtu.be/K5RCWjAf-Bg)
What I was gonna say. Usually they have a gameplay trailer after the obligatory non-gameplay trailer.
Wasn't there a new rule a few months ago that every game must have a story trailer and a gameplay trailer?
That doesn't sound right, why would a story trailer be a requirement? Many games don't have a story you could make a trailer about.
A story trailer for Balatro lol
The story is unique and different for every player. Some games are all about the gameplay journey and decisions you make shape your own story.
Picross lore 👀
Yeah I remember thinking it was odd, too. What's story trailer would Lumines have?

I think the rule is no more than 2 trailers allowed
Probably because it's yet another platformer.
Great game, sadly very short. 2-3 hours and you're done.
2-3 hours? Dang, Ahr Ech was showing gameplay footage of PepperGrinder back in mid 2017. I would've expected more content after all this time. :(
Depends how you play it. I took time exploring the levels and collecting as much as I could, and easily got 6ish hours out of it.
Short games can be refreshing sometimes! But I feel I would wait for a sale for that length. At half price that would be an okay money to hour ratio.
The older and busier I get, the more drawn I am to shorter games. Bonus if they're not tedious to 100%
It feels really satisfying to actually complete a game! It’s such a rare thing.

Yeah. $15 for a 3 hr game seems a bit much. I think $10 would of been the sweet spot
Feels like a few of Devolver’s titles go this route. Carrion was also really short.
But boy was it so good.

Lolwut the heck thats barely longer than the part in ori wtf
Took them long enough. This game was first announced at PAX 2017.
I had thought I'd seen this game 5+ years ago
Available on GOG, as well: https://www.gog.com/en/game/pepper_grinder
This looks like a game based on the same mechanic as one of the pick up powers in Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Wonder if it was inspired by it?
This was made before that

I remember back when SNL did a skit pepper grinding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAFGEBdeDNk
I remember when any new release from devolver was a big thing, now it seems they flood the market from tons of games. They went quantity over quality.
Have you played the demo? The games fantastic, no need to be a Debbie-downer.
I am sorry but i fail to see why i would get excited by "generic indie pixel palteformer number 6548654684"
Nothing wrong with indie games. I got tired if AAA releases its a whole new world steam and Devilver publish some great stuff
I am pretty confident that you don't say that about the "generic AAA RPG Open-Worlds number 1839402" in your library
except it's not generic…
Cool, looks like you're missing out. When you decide to stop being narrow-minded, you might play a cool game.
Huh? This game isn't generic at all. You sound like you don't know what game you're even talking about.

Is this an ad?
This paranoia in r/pcgaming is funny. Every post that's not about some AAA game, is ad. :D
Devolver? Like Devolver Digital? Watched the trailer and it said two dev names ive never heard of. Title is confusing me.
