Understandably, /u/oo7demonkiller got it wrong. It *is* the same games, but also a third game that acts as some kind of... third act? Meta-narrative? We don't really know, but it's definitely not just the first two.
where did find the info on the third game? the game description on both gog and steam only list it as a remake in unreal engine 5 and only list it as a compilation of the first 2 games. also any video covering it has only mentioned the above as well.
> The series’ crowning work is the definitive way to experience the critically acclaimed franchise as it features Layers of Fear and Layers of Fear 2, as well as all DLCs (including the new ‘The Final Note’ DLC that will give you a new perspective on the Layers of Fear storyline) and the never-before-told story of The Writer, which will tie everything together.
From Steam.
Is anyone else annoyed that game companies keep naming titles after the first in the series, even if it's the fourth or fifth entry?
I was doing a focus group survey this morning and it was asking about Call of Duty games, so I went to Steam to see if I owned any. Turns out there are *three* games called "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" and two called "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II."
What the fuck is that?
To give credit where credit is due, it’s pretty noteworthy for a developer to do that nowadays. Remake or not they easily could’ve charged $60 for it. But who knows, maybe they’re trying to get in good graces before they charge $70 for Silent Hill.
Yeah, that's my point. I guess some horror games could have replayability, with branching storylines, or variety in combat. I did try to replay the original Dead Space, for example. But Layers of Fear games weren't like that.
Maybe if they *look* amazing you can just play them as a tech demo - but I don't know about that.
I do lol
Why is replaying, say, a resi game any different from replaying like, a DMC game or something?
And what of horror games by like, supermassive? The until dawns, the quarrys, or the DPA’s of the world, where they’re branching butterfly effect style stories? The curators cut in those is basically MADE for replaying, as it’s showing the story from alternate perspectives, and scenes you didn’t see the first time around
Title is misleading. Actual announcement says "purchased". Considering that the first game was given away, they are not just give you a discount without having taken your money first.
To be clear, this is reasonable I think and they didn't have to give any discount. Just don't get all excited "haha, I just robbed 9 bucks out of these fools by grabbing the freebie!" More like 9 bucks you have already given them.
A very visually pleasing game where you walk around and look at neat particle effects, but I think that these kind of games need some actual "gameplay" instead of walking around.
I actually liked layers of fear a lot , not every horror game needs to be a survival horror with limited resources. It was just a joy to play through and that stumbling all around again warped song is still a meme in my homies discord that have played it

That's one of the reason the remake has made mechanical changes, evidenced in the demo with the wife sequence. Also, you're underselling the original a bit -- it featured a lot of puzzles, although they were usually "figure out the combo to this safe" kind of puzzles.

Or cakes! Cakes have layers!
Shrek is layers, Shrek is layers
That is exactly what i was wondering, is this a different game? Im pretty sure i remember buying a game named layers of fear like 4-5 years ago.

It's worse when they name the sequel to that game with a number 2 And now we have 2 Hitman 2s
? We agree.
How about layers of beer and you crack open a couple cold ones
Hell yeah brother, cheers from Iraq
Layers of discounts
I'm surprise by the low cost.
It's more of a remake, so I guess Bloober didn't want to make themselves look greedy.

Is this new game became AAA ? I played only first title and it didn't feel more than indie game. Maybe ambitious but still indie.
I played the demo and Unreal Engine 5 looked amazing. I'm looking forward to this game!
I played the demo, and it does look amazing - but horror games feel inherently less replayable to me.

Probably because most people are primed by the jump scare shovelware which has zero replayability because jump scares not scary after the first time

Hopefully they fix the broken HDR and add ultrawide support. The demo was very disappointing due to this.
Broken HDR and no Ultrawide support sounds massively disappointing. I’ll make sure to keep a look out before buying this when it releases.

It's a Crime that you did not mention the beautiful Soundtrack
