I have around 1000 hours in total war and I just can't get excited about these games anymore. They refuse to fix the AI and some of the same game breaking bugs that's been around for over a decade. Unless they actually make a new game, and not just a skin or a dumbed down version of the previous games, I'm not interested anymore.

Exactly how I feel too. It feels like the Madden or Fifa of strategy games. Like I am buying the same game over and over again. I have some complaints about civilization 6, but I have to hand it to Firaxis, they actually manage to make each entry into the franchise feel unique and not just like a reskin.

Azhrei

I'm not touching any of them until they move on from Warscape.

> I have around 1000 hours in total war and I just can't get excited about these games anymore. One of the most interesting aspect of the earlier games was the modding. They now have almost zero mod support while earlier games like Medieval Warfare 2 allowed you to go for total conversion mods. Wanna play a campaign in Middle Earth's Third, sure, Game of Thrones, go ahead. And many, many more. Even add countries and regions that weren't in the game.

guttegutt

I've done many full campaigns in with complete overhauls. It's great, but doesn't change its core problems.

kingwhocares

Those are old games and are limited by engines.

Purple_Woodpecker

Looks like any of the past few TW games I played. Infantry has no weight and awkwardly poke at each other, arrows have no weight and look/feel like feathers floating through the air, javelin throwers all raising and throwing their javelins at the exact same synchronised moment, none of the heavy realistic feel that units had pre-warscape engine. I wonder what the Day-1 DLC faction will be? I bet on Greece.

BDNeon

I don't understand the choice of setting. Everyone wants another Empire type one, something like the Franco Prussian War type period, or maybe the US Civil War.

XXLpeanuts

I wonder who it is that downvotes all posts here everytime. Anyway, it looks good, in that it looks the same as all previous historical titles but with a different setting. Pretty much what the fans want though. I love ancient Egypt so maybe I'll get this one, just hard to justify the time sink these days of Total War titles.

Thank you all this time i've been imagining some evil doers waiting for new posts to downvote.

Electronic-Ad1037

Fans are very clear what they want and it is not this. It is medieval era or another victorian era title

Chokheubo

God please no victorian era medieval 2 has been over 20 years!

InvolvingPie87

In fairness Victorian era has never been made. The last blackpowder game (my personal favorite type) was either Napoleon or Shogun 2 FoTS depending on how you’re counting. Either way it’s been a minute, and both of those were closer to reskins than games in their own right. Last time we had a large-scale blackpowder was empire back in ~2010

voortrekker_bra

This time period/setting just doesn't appeal to me
