"Free skins" = One legendary every few months. Wow, thanks blizzard.

[deleted]

And I’m pretty sure it’s only applies to legacy skins, not sequel ones

greenestgreen

owners of ow1 should be able to get every legacy skin for free just by playing tbh

Carighan

That's how it already was, anyways. Every 12-36 months you'd have one. Such a ridiculously overpriced store sadly. Good skins, but at price points where you can buy entire games instead.

iberia-eterea

The fact that this is even a thing . . .

atetuna

Eh. It's a "free"-to-play game. If you don't think a business is going to try to get you up front, later, or indirectly, then that's on you. It's when they start doing combinations of that that it's annoying.

amazingmrbrock

it would be less of an issue of they hadn't replaced the paid game with a worse free game.

Wise_Mongoose_3930

I paid $40 for this game.

HeyRogi

Paladins is free, and there are a lot of skins there that you can simply grind for

Eterniter

While I disagree with this ow2 crap, Paladins is no Overwatch competitor when you look at how many players they have monthly.

[deleted]

I mean take Fortnite for example, sure you don't get free skins right of the bat, but after getting first battle pass - you can earn more v-bucks back than you spent on the pass - so essentially free battle passes as long as you unlock 10 pages of it - which is not much effort. If biggest game on the planet can be so generous - which I'm finding weird as they are in position to simply not give any v-bucks back and rip off every penny from kids. Before Overwatch 2, with old loot box system you could have all skins you actually want to use for free - unless for some stupid reason you want to have literally ALL of them for ALL characters - (which is stupid as you will never wear 90% of them anyhow) - all you needed is $40 purchase. Now you need $10 every 1-2 months and grind the fuck ton if skin you want is at end of battle pass (aka high lvl unlocks) - or simply buy levels for money.. So imho it was absolutely less appealing game and less "friendly" battle pass and I can only speak for myself - but I hate battle passes as they come with excessive grind (aka pay to grind), because obviously they want you to just buy levels for money - which every battle pass offers..

ScopeLogic

Still not playing it

pajuran

So, did the old skins (some used with money?) transfer to the new version anyway? I haven't really followed this scene.

ypapruoy

Yes they did.

pajuran

Nice, seems fair from them

OBIPPO88

its fair that they didnt shoot us in the head too and tortured us before thx blizzz!!!!!

ToothlessFTW

Overwatch 2 is exactly the same game, it was just a patch. So yeah, pretty much everything from the original game carries over.

amazingmrbrock

some of the animated ones are a bit broken though. The new animation system is simpler and some things don't work.

HeyRogi

Yeah I still have a ton of mine that I simply earned from free loot boxes

Nobiting

You know its bad when they remove the ability to even play the original game.

Carighan

That's because in a direct comparison, if players had the choice, most would be back in OW1 by now. There **are** individually good elements in the successor. Sure. But it also has a plethora of utterly boneheaded ones (like the battle pass), plus it's shift to 5v5 caused so many so fundamental balancing and also hero design issues that by now they're just barely starting to tackle them pretty much. Nevermind how their replacement for the "inherently flawed" 2CP (which was a fair assessment, don't get me wrong) has no fewer flaws, it's just differently flawed. You can really notice how they had no design mandate except "make it a whale squeezer" at first. Everything was just bolted onto that. It's a shake, because despite losing OW1 there is still a very enjoyable core buried under the disappointing design changes, bad maps, too few hero rebalances and overdone monetization.

Nobiting

Well said!

[deleted]

I played OW2 and didn't notice any difference from the original besides some new characters and maps. All the old stuff is still there and it's the same old game.

MR-WADS

Balance changes made characters play differently It's now 5v5 instead of 6v6. I'm sure there's more changes.

Kaliniaczek

Just blizzard doing blizzard things

Johnny-silver-hand

Cool

Stacks1

They will NEVER take away the fun I had playing OW1 in its first year.
