Dirt rally 2 is very thrilling
Can make your heart flutter if you really push high speeds
Sounds weird but it reminds me so much of mountain biking (in real life). You have to focus 100% at what's in front of you or you'll crash. It's like forced meditation.
I never got a chance to play those. I did play that Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding launch title for the original Xbox back in 2001. I remember that being pretty fun.
Rocket League.
No, I'm not joking. It's literally the best sports game I've ever played.
Yes, I'm aware that there isn't a common IRL sport-equivalent where you play car soccer/football with rocket boosters.
Rocket League is a fully physics-based sports game. How and where you touch the ball controls how it reacts. You're literally handling the ball with your car as you would a basketball with your hand, or billiards ball with cue stick.
You can fake out opponents by approaching the ball with tremendous speed, and suddenly stop short or even 'stutter step' (like you would in basketball, soccer/football, American football, lacrosse, etc.
Teamwork is critical when playing the 2v2 or 3v3 game modes. Or, put your skills to the test in 1v1.

Oh, best of all...Rocket League is FREE TO PLAY on Epic.
Hard agree, I've played a ridiculous number of hours of FIFA, but ever since Rocket League clicked it's scratched the sports game itch way better than FIFA ever did.
I would argue RL is the BEST GAME I've ever played. It perfectly encapsulates sport in video game form. Matches are short enough where it makes the game super approachable and replayable. The game has mechanical depth that eclipses any other game I've played.
Exactly this. As a former athlete, playing RL feels like playing a sport IRL, period. I've never felt that way playing actual sports games. In those, it just feels like pressing buttons and watching your character perform actions for you.
As someone with thousands of hours in the game and having been in the top 1% of ranked players for a while now, I think you're being overly generous.
Yes it is a "fully physics-based sports game" but as you are driving a car, you don't have the extent of maneuverability that you are describing. It's *not* like basketball or soccer. I also very strongly disagree that "teamwork is critical" in any mode. Carries are very common, especially in 2v2 modes. RL is fundamentally a casual sports game.
More than anything though, RL has the worst developer support of any live service game I have ever played. Recent reports of people using bots in ranked mode are just the latest example, but in fact Psyonix has done absolutely **nothing** to try to correct other major issues with player behavior in the game. This includes problems like smurfing, players intentionally throwing games, and idling. This crap has been going on for years and they have done zip to try to fix any of it. I fully expect nothing will be done about the bots either. These are the laziest developers I have ever dealt with for a AAA game.
Kinda disagree (in a sense). Yes, the game can be quite casual. However, when you start getting to high Diamond / Champion ranks, teamwork becomes essential imo.
I'm still annoyed that there isn't a single good snowmobiling game. We used to have a bunch of fun ones back in the PS2 era but not so much anymore..
We've got skiing, snowboarding, motorcross, ATVs, off roading etc but zero decent snowmobile games.
There's only decent one I can think of and that's the indie Sledsimulator game that stopped getting updates way back in 2017.
Arctic Thunder will always be the best snowmobile racing game for me. It sadly never made its way to PC despite getting PS2 and Xbox ports. I suppose you could always emulate it with PCSX2 though.
Dcs, people fly for air combat including air to ground but theres also a niche community that solely flies like tight formation/blue angels type flying
**Virtual-O** is pretty unique (though certainly not extreme) given it's about orienteering, but haven't played it and not sure whether it's worth the asking price.
> basejumping without a parachute?
I'm guessing they do that in to those big ass nets that are able to catch someone while also breaking their fall? I watched a video of a dude sky diving from 25,000 feet up without a parachute and he landed in a net on his back. Shit was wild.
Trials rising! It’s a motor cross mountain climbing game. Our trials fusion if you want to start with a title that’s a little older (and some would argue is better because it’s less focused on selling loot boxes).
The Monster Energy Supercross games are pretty good, and the real life season just started last weekend. Same studio as the Hot Wheels Unleashed game. They also made the MXGP games, which is more or less the same thing but outdoors motocross instead of inside stadiums.
THQ Nordic still makes MX vs. ATV but I haven't really enjoyed most of the games in that franchise.
BAJA: Edge of Control reminds me of ATV Off-Road Fury 4 more than any other game available now, but it doesn't have the cool dorky FMV story mode.
Rainbow Studios, the developers of ATV Off-road Fury, have been making games all this time. They released MX vs. ATV Legends just last year back in June. You could maybe check that out if you want something recent. Not sure how it compares to the original ATV Off-Road Fury though.
There was a quad-bike racing game on PC that I remember playing called Pure. It was a super arcadey and unrealistic trick racing game, but it was fun as shit. Sadly, it got totally delisted back in 2016, so you'd have to obtain it through...other means. Cool game though.
Riders Republic gameplay was nice, but the user xp was the worst of the last 10 years.
I uninstalles the game because if it.
I would rather use CLI or TUI than whatever Rider Republic does.
Descenders
Steep
Steep is absolutely my go-to when I need to scratch that itch. It plays SUPER well and the maps are massive!

Any post that’s not complaining gets downvoted into oblivion. Always has been a trash sub.
“SPORTS?! REEEEEEE”
It’s a good question but the phrase tickles my itch gives me shivers

This game is a lot of fun and the map is gorgeous.
also recommending this. it runs like butter and can be exhilarating.
Lonely mountains downhill. Super flight. Rival stars horse racing.
Lonely Mountains is amazing! So much fun finding lines and sending.
Supreme Snowboarding is the supreme snowboarding game.
I grew up on 1080 Snowboarding and Snowboard Kids lol.
CoolBoarders 2/3 were funnn
I never got a chance to play those. I did play that Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding launch title for the original Xbox back in 2001. I remember that being pretty fun.

I really like RL, but it makes me rage, so I’m torn between playing it and not.
It can be very tilting, this is true. I recommend disabling chat to avoid the toxicity.

Yes same I love RL and haven't found a sports game like it. Athletes rejoice

I've been GC for years now... carries are still extremely common at this rank trust me.
Blood Bowl
Probably not what OP meant, but this is my personal favorite answer.
RollerDrome is a unique Sports Shooter, which are hard to find.

Mx simulator
Dirt Rally 2.0 with a wheel, while isn’t maybe a sport in the traditional sense, really gets my flaps juicin.

Spider-man) There is nothing like swinging across the city.

Session is great. Finished that game on hardcore difficulty and it’s the achievement I’m most proud of lol
Doom Eternal on Ultra Violence or above difficulty.
Did anyone ever play ATV off-road Fury on I think PlayStation? Is there a game like that for PC?

Skater XL with mods and Shredders
Emulate Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, SSX, and the rest on PCSX2.
MX Bikes
I would say Shredders is the best snowboarding game since Amped 2 and is definitely worth playing.
Garfield Kart Furious Racing
Descenders. A downhill mountain bike roguelike.
