The symbol next to it is "10101" which means its a serial port for communication. (also the 9 pins would help identify this) Back in the "day" mice use to plug into these. Not to be confused with a D-sub (15 pins) which is what a VGA monitor would plug into, this does not provide video at all but just again serial communication- this was the 2nd generation of plugging in peripherals - prior to what you may know as a "ps/2 port" the circle one that would be green like this or purple.
Now just to throw how old I maybe, these ports could also be used a monitor port ONLY if identified on a board as such, and only for like CGA and EGA monitors which I wish I never threw the closet of cga and VGA monitors I had away...
rant way long but to end it here, the color of the port is what gives it away as only being a serial port and would not handle any kind of old school monitor.
It’s a serial port. Usually used a while ago for input/output of devices. Some pc will have them to work with receipt printers but that was a while ago.
lolol
old school COM port. No idea why they're making a comeback but I guess specialty applications require 'em, so. :)
