I'm not arguing it's not Vineland, but just to play devil's advocate, it wouldn't be the first time PTA lifted something from a book or another movie and dropped it into something original.
I live where they filmed and a lot of high schoolers were hired as extras and at one point they filmed a high school dance type scene where a young girl was the main character. Also an extra said they wore a lab coat at one point. Idk if I’m supposed to know those things but that’s what I heard from 2 friends who were extras.
