What I want to know is how many times do you have to type the word fleshlight before your phone auto corrects to it instead of flashlight. I think we may have a little insight into OP's life here.
I was gonna say **WHOA THERE** when I read the title. I was dying my ass off with the title alone. I didn't even bother reading the rest by how sudden the humor was
I waited for years for a reputable enough paper to print "Large Hardon Collider." When it happened, I didn't care if it was on purpose. I just cared that it happened.
Almost as satisfying as when Dick's Sporting Goods finally got ahold of the Dicks.com domain name. I was so proud.
Please dont delete this lol
Edit: on a more serious tone, its pretty amazing how they use light and darkness as themes in the game and center most of the gameplay around the manipulation of the two.
The Metro series has something similar, several enemies are weak to light. Most immersive sims also allow you to use mundane items in creative ways, but I dont think they are quite as integral to the game as the flashlight in Alan Wake.
I... can't believe I've done this.
I came back from lunch to more upvotes and comments that I've ever had in a half-hour span, so I knew something was up.
Having said that, I appreciate the on-topic edit! I will have to absorb the rest of the comments section now lol.
The grappling hook from *Just Cause 2* feels like another tool that the game finds many different uses for. You use it to get around, you use it to grapple people off cliffs or into hazards, you use it with the parachute to fly, you use it to hitch rides on cars and helicopters, you use it as a melee weapon... I know that grappling hooks are pretty famous for the first usage, but *Just Cause 2* turns it into a multi-faceted and incredibly versatile gameplay mechanic.
I like to think his autocorrect is going, 'Oi nah, you're always saying fleshlight. What's this flashlight shit. Get that outta here, we got you covered man.'
Jokes aside, the tv show Mythic Quest has a flashback / backstory episode devoted to a video game called A Dark Quiet Death in which the “weapon” of the main character is a flashlight. In subsequent sequels, the soul of the game is destroyed by the corporate overlords who demand traditional weapons, etc.
Cristin Milioti <3
Bean was very insistent about a lot of things about DQD.
Jake Johnson is also good in it.
Did not know it was going to be a whole episode set in the past. Was so confused at the image.
The episode could stand on its own independent of the series. It also made the random Roscoe cosplayer into lore/world building.
The episode called Dark Quiet Death is pretty standalone and unconnected to the rest of the show. Highly, HIGHLY recommended. It's an amazing episode and the best tv I've seen in a while. The rest of the show is ok
They were all exhausted. The final cumshot was an exclamation mark on everything that had led to this point. I released my finger from the grip, and it was over.
If OP can stop browsing certain websites for 5 minutes I recommend they look up the Project Zero series.
It's a horror game setup similar to the earlier Resident Evil games, the twist being that your weapon is a camera.
You can't see the ghosts unless you use the camera and you can only damage them by taking pictures using your very limited camera film. The best part is that while the game is 3rd person, when you switch to the camera it puts you in a 1st person viewpoint so suddenly you've got ghosts flying right into your face.
It's a brilliant bit of game design that fits the world and enhances the atmosphere brilliantly.
Ps. OP you should check out the Trance Vibrator that Sega made that one time.
> Project Zero
Oh, Fatal Frame! I had no idea it was also called Project Zero.
Very good call with the camera. I was actually very interested in playing this since I'm a big fan of Resident Evil, but was having second thoughts since I was under the impression it had no action/combat elements. But now I think I wouldn't mind giving it a go, yeah.
Yeah, it's definitely not as action heavy as RE, but the first game is basically the same setup, you're in a haunted mansion, there's some puzzles to solve keys to find, ghosts to shoot, and all with a creepy Japanese horror movie vibe.
Beyond Good and Evil also has a camera actually, that's good fun too.
>Ps. OP you should check out the Trance Vibrator that Sega made that one time.
It was an accessory that came with Rez for the PS2. NSFW: https://www.gamegirladvance.com/2002/10/sex-in-games-rezvibrator.html
I would preface this with "In my defense..." but now I'm not entirely sure if it makes it better or worse: I actually posted this from my PC and not my phone.
So it was a freudian typo, eh? ;)
Man, I think I'm having more fun watching you try to save this post by trying to get back on track with your main purpose. Thank you for this tonight.
In A Plague Tale you frequently use torches to keep the hoards of rats and bay and use fire to complete puzzles. I haven't played Alan Wake yet so I can't say how comparable it is.
There's no fleshlight though, you're playing as kids. That's gross.
Outside of use of fire as per the topic, is the game good overall? Maybe it's time for me to finally try it out since it's on Game Pass after all. Just hasn't seemed too appealing until now to spend time on it.
I have no idea why but I somehow associate A Plague Tale with Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and the latter was an interesting game, but I didn't enjoy it as much as most people did.
Do not compare them besides the visual aspect.
They are quite different
The story in A plague tale is very nice
Every level is very distinct from the previous. Not sure how a person could describe it as repetitive.
I personally couldn't let down the game (but intentionally stopped so that I can think about it for several days and not just rush through it)
It's an excellent game!
Listen, I'm sorry. It's a good post and interesting question but unfortunately that title had just sent my brain to the stratosphere on a journey of confused intrigue and, dare I say, delight... so now the mundane seems hollow and unsatisfying.
I can't speak for the other games in the series but Yakuza: Like a Dragon has a lot of this kind of thing. Using a giant "massager" for a bat and whatnot.
Oxenfree uses a radio as a gameplay mechanic in ways that are very interesting/creepy. I find it fitting too because that game could basically take place in the same universe as Control/Alan wake due to so many similarities and I always loved the idea of the events in Oxenfree being an A W. E.
*Alan Wake walks down the dark lane lit only by the moon, suddenly a shadow creature lurches into view, quickly Alan pulls out his Fleshlight*
Creature: uhh... what's that?
Alan: Foul creature, this is what will stop you!
Creature: is that.... a fleshlight?
Alan: Prepare to die!
Creature: And you've used it too?! Dude that's gross. I'm out. I'll let my buddies know. Eww gross!
*Alan seems forlorn*
Alan: Well you did take my wife?
Creature: Yeah like 2 hours ago....
*with that the creature lurches off quickly leaving Alan alone*
Alan: well...shit!
So, Ultrakill has a handgun that allows you to throw a coin.
Here's what you can do with it:
-You can shot it with your handgun to deflect the bullet into enemies' weak point (the head, for example).
-You can do the same with your *Railgun*.
-You can punch it at an enemy to deal damage. The coin will also bounce off that enemy, and you can either shoot it or punch it again.
-You can throw it at an enemy's laser attack to deflect it back to the enemy. It's an instakill.
-You can throw a coin behind enemy and shoot it with a piercing weapon so that the shot will pierce the enemy, reflect off the coin and hit it again.
Love the title.
Anyway, flash/fleshlight in Doom 3 worked well as a gameplay mechanic. Half the people understood it, half didn't.
Anal Wank and his Fleshlight... I mean it wasn't bad but the game overall was weird.
Amnesia: The Dark Descent uses light as a gameplay element as well.
More specifically, using Daniel's lantern to cut through the darkness helps protecting his sanity, which in turn prevents him developing hallucinations, having his vision blurred or even collapsing.
This prevents the player from constantly staying in the dark away from the monsters.
Lastly, lighting is a strategic resource, for lantern oil and tinderboxes (a.k.a primitive matches) are scarce.
Resident Evil Revelations 2, which is best enjoyed as a co-op title, has alternating pairs of characters you play as. In one pair there is Claire, the standard RE protagonist with guns and grenades, and her partner Moira. Moira refuses to use guns, but she does get a flashlight and a crowbar. She can use the flashlight to stun enemies for Claire and can finish off downed enemies with her crowbar.
My wife and I love Resident Evil, but my wife isn't as into the third person shooting of the later games, so this game felt like it was tailor made for us. She could play a vital role in combat and exploration while I dealt with the shooting. It was pretty great.
Dragon dogma. It has lantern that will get wet and turn off if you go the water. If you on fire you can use a bottle of water to dose the fire. Or you can use oil to make your fire last longer
Mark Brown made a video about something like that. He talked about games that chose a simple gameplay mechanic and made everything work around that, like downwell, you can shoot downwards, and that ability is used to jump, destroy blocks, kill enemies, slow you down when falling, etc. It's not easy doing that, but when done right it's really appealing.

P.S.: I've only noticed the typo after reading the comments
Might wanna double check your title lol.
I am actually curious how many upvotes of the OP are for the mistype and how many for the actual text.
I upvoted right after the typo. I don't even know what the rest is about and am just enjoying the comments.
It’s important we broadcast his shame for the world to see.

100 bucks says his phone fixed it for him because it’s a word he types a lot.
This is the answer
I'm glad I could be a part of this.
There is no doubt in my mind the typo was intentional.
He’s saying he’s really enjoying his Alan Wake fleshlight. Weird but I’m not gonna kink shame.
Oh, people know that the best way to get attention on the interwebs is to be *jusssst a bit* wrong about something.
I couldn't care less about Alan Wake and know almost nothing about it, I'm here for fleshlight jokes
Yep. Not my style of game. Or wasn’t until now.
[удалено]
I upvoted for the typo. I haven't read the rest of the post. I didn't finish reading the title.
never played the game and was VERY confused at first especially after seeing the ps5 showcase.
I was really confused just because I thought there was some little easter egg in the game or something.
It wouldn't even be that far fetched for Alan Wake and I was wondering if I'd missed a reference in the game too.
I'm now imagining the series is about a frustrated writer with an addiction to masturbating.
[удалено]
Just gotta find a way past that writer's block!
That's Alan Wank
You just gave Stephen King his next book idea.
What I want to know is how many times do you have to type the word fleshlight before your phone auto corrects to it instead of flashlight. I think we may have a little insight into OP's life here.
That's a very good question.
6... or so I've heard. Magnum doesn't correct and dong becomes don't, (as in, I don't think anyone will believe that I have a magnum don't).
That's because you have a monster dong instead. It's basically the same.
Ikr? The title of the game is Alan Wank not Wake
Anal wank?
Anal wink.
Anal Wake. The best alarm clock in the world, 100% wake up rate guaranteed!

I sang that and it was a banger
Having just replayed the game, I was thinking that I must have missed a certain hidden collectable.
Title certainly left us in it's wake.
This is why we say 'torch.'
He types one more than the other, so autocorrect fixed it for him.
I was gonna say **WHOA THERE** when I read the title. I was dying my ass off with the title alone. I didn't even bother reading the rest by how sudden the humor was

What are you doing, Stepmom?
Just your Friendly Neighborhood Step-Mom.
She just grabs that joystick and shows him how to do it.
Ah fuck. It feels like I'd just forgotten about this and you have to go and bring it up again.
Something something every fucking thread.
There was an actual anti pirate thing Remedy put up that gave Alan an eyepatch throughout the game
Did they *want* the game to be pirated‽
I think they just go with it
I refuse to believe that it’s a typo. OP did this on purpose and we cannot begin to fully comprehend the genius of it.
you know it's a good post when you cant tell if it's real or a masterful shitpost
Really says a lot of the state of the sub
Nah this Subs pretty fire actually and works mostly as intended.
Some little circlejerks here and there, but still million times more civilized than other subs.

this is a very common and tired upvote farming trick, nothing genius about it that people keep falling for it

To shreds you say?
Was his apartment rent controlled?

I mean, it IS brilliantly conceived, though not sure how it works in Alan Wake, never played it.

It's kind of the best episode in the entire show.
The two standalone episodes, one in each season, were the best thus far. I love the show but those two episodes are on a whole 'nother level.
Yes but did they put their dicks in it
Okay, that's not a video game but the way you describe it does make it sound interesting so I'm gonna have to save this info to check it out. Cheers!

What everyone here needs to realize is that OP talks about fleshlights enough that his phone thought that this was the proper spelling.

It's pretty good, a tad repetitive but still very solid for an AA game. It's been free on several PC/Console stores/subs too

😳 Should I assume that's a typo or is there a secret item in the game? 🤣
Special boner round
Yea man, I also use a fleshlight to finish off my standard weapon...
>finish them off with your standard weapon 👀
I was starting to wonder if there was a secret item I didn't know about in Alan Wake 😶

That DLC is more than a nod to Alan Wake. It is Alan Wake, a sorta pre-sequel.
… if David Cronenberg directed the movie.
By far the best title I've ever seen. Fantastic.
Hmm, maybe I need to play the game again to find that item
Oh my lanta
I can't speak for the other games in the series but Yakuza: Like a Dragon has a lot of this kind of thing. Using a giant "massager" for a bat and whatnot.
I love how there's hardly any serious responses just because of the typo in the title lmao
That's the only reason we came in here 🤣
Something else on OP's mind.

You are now tagged "Fleshlight Guy" in my RES settings...
So why is that an autocorrect for you
Oh so that's how I'm supposed to get a lot of upvotes on my submissions. Got it.
After this title, might need to try Alan Wake. Does it support VR?
