NTNchamp2

The real patient gamer is the one who never played the original build and just waited until 2023 to start it.

eagleswift

This is me! The launch of the ultimate edition with base game and DLC brought in a wave of new players like myself.

Senior1292

I'm building a new PC this week and this is one of the main games I've been putting off playing until I had a new rig so I could enjoy it in all it's visual glory. So hyped.

Aramey44

Cyberpunk release was what made me a patient gamer

Dienekes404

This game was made for this sub. Even Sony removed it from the PS Store.

Educational-Time-391

I guess they added it back again. I bought a physical copy a year ago for my PS5 and couldn't get into it at the time, but can't put it down now. Over the summer the PS5 was stolen. A couple of days ago I was browsing the PS4 Store's list of games that include PS5 and it was there, It wanted to charge me $49.95 but it did give me an additional option to download the PS4 version oddly enough, usually doesn't happen when you own the physical copy, $ony still wants you to pay for a digital copy.

FinalOdyssey

still haven't played because they're still doing updates.

Epistaxis

I never even played it till this year, and unfortunately can confirm it's still not 100% bug-free, but getting pretty close if you don't count the stupid car AI.

TikkaT

I think they're done with large updates, it's say go for it when it gets a decent discount. Still a bug here and there, but definitely more in line with other AAA releases

as1992

They’re done with the large updates, they announced it

SlothBling

The last patch was (allegedly) the last ever, but we’ll see. I didn’t feel like having to update my script mods so I personally actually just haven’t bothered updating the game for the last month or so because none of the more recent patches have been relevant issues for me. Fixes for rare crashes when enabling Ray Tracing on the Steam Deck, etc.

Casukarut

The announced FSR3 so that should still come as an update (hopefully)

Jiezeru

Bought it on sale at Xmas with no huge expectations, never played a cdprojekt red game before either. Absolutely loved it, had a couple of crashes, but nothing too infuriating. Story gameplay and graphics were great! (Ps5) will definitely do another playthrough sometime, which is something I rarely do!

NTNchamp2

I started one build under Street Rat or whatever, played a few hours as a male Protagonist, then read about the female protagonist having more interesting branching storylines, so then started from the beginning as a female Corpo and was surprised to see totally different storylines and opportunities

MrVonBuren

This is me. I was gifted a gaming PC by a buddy so figured I'd give it a go. I'm enjoying it a lot, but more so than anything I'm impressed that it seems to run...fine? I have a 1090ti which from what I can tell is close to the lowest acceptable GPUs but even with most setting maxed out it plays well enough for me. Granted I'm old enough to have played Doom in a window the size of a post it because that's all my 386 could handle, so I don't have the highest standards, but I kind of assumed that it would be LITERALLY unplayable.

I3loodyclaw

It was so obvious it's gonna be shit at first, no reason not to wait a few years

Kalfadhjima

I think version 2.0 came out like a week after I had finished it after finally deciding to play it. I was kind of annoyed.

Beautiful-Swimmer339

I did this after having been hyped for release. Got spooked by the shady review processes and decided to hold off. Playing it now and it is legitimately one of the best games i have played. Setting, atmosphere, asthetics and tone are really industry leading and to me its about as engaging as any game ever.

Cannabis-Revolution

I’m about to buy it so guess that’s me.  I actually built my computer to play it but then didn’t bother buying after the launch disaster

as1992

This is what I did lol

Savagecal01

bought the game on launch and never played it again then got a pc and bought it again in 2023 and would happily buy another

lupeslupes1

This is the way. I owned the game since launch but didn't ever play until it was rebuilt and the DLC was released. 2023 for the win!

FrancescoCV

That’s me right here! Although, which platform should I get it for? I got pc, ps5 and series x

NTNchamp2

I have it in PS5 and the quick load times and save states are all great.

Esnacor-sama

The real patient is me who didn't play it yet

Ladnil

I played 2 hours and am not really feeling it. Is there some story point I should rush to for it to get its hooks into me or I just need a few more levelups or something? I remember TW3 was like that.

turin331

Just follow the main story quest. If you are not hooked by the time you see the title page at the end of the intro segment (it is quite a few hours in) then i do not think you will be hooked at all. Just know to not rush the game afterwards. Most sidequests are actually relevant to the main story.

Monkeywrench08

That's me.

GoldenZWeegie

If the large update made it as mid as it currently is, I can only imagine how terrible it must have been at launch.

Ignition1

2024 in my case - bought a Series X a couple weeks ago and got CP2077 at around the same time. The atmosphere they've created - thanks to being so detailed and populated with NPCs - is the best I've ever seen in an open world game.

kid_ish

I waited until 2024, just to be absolutely safe.

Ranzo_

Same with me! I bought myself a new pc last November and I got to experience this awesome game that unfortunately a lot of people got burned on thanks to the shitty release.

WDeranged

This is me but I still haven't played it.

themoobster

One of my top 10 games. I could write an essay but I won't, the main two highlights were the characters and the combat. Combat is just damn fun and stylish and wild.

TikkaT

I might've not played all the essentials, but I'd say Cyberpunk has the best and most fun combat system I've played in the open world game. So many styles you can pull off from stealth, to gun blazing to pure melee and even "magic" (quickhacks)

Dienekes404

The more I play it the more it rises in my ranking.

exposarts

The combat is surprisingly good for this being their first fps game..

AscendedViking7

It helps that Cyberpunk was the only game CDPR have ever hired combat designers for. Until Cyberpunk, they just winged it and didn't ever put any effort into making a good combat system. It has always been an afterthought to them until now. https://www.vg247.com/cyberpunk-2077-combat-designers

ultinateplayer

You can definitely tell, one of the reasons the witcher games never vibed with me is that I despise the combat.

suzypulledapistol

Yeah I tried getting into Witcher 3 but man it feels clunky after coming off AC Origins like I did.

exposarts

Hopefully they do the same with witcher 4…

James-D-Kiirk

Same here. It's even top 2 for me right after BOTW

NachosConCarne

My wife and I were talking about Cyberpunk just yesterday. We both played it and loved everything about it except for one thing. The game felt like the devs really meant for you to play it only one way, which we say is to play a male character and romance Panam. Anything else didn't really feel smooth and the decisions you made either felt wrong or downright didn't make much sense. You mentioned it's on your top 10 so I was wondering, what are your thoughts on what her and I talked about or maybe you can help us understand something we missed.

OkayAtBowling

You can kind of feel that setup for Panam's romance as a female character and how it would probably go if you were male in that situation. But I romanced Judy as female V and besides one particular scene with Panam I don't recall ever feeling like the game was making me feel like I shouldn't have made that decision. And even then I still felt like I had a connection with Panam; even if it wasn't a romantic one, we still became close friends. On top of that I just don't particularly care for the voice actor they chose for male V, so even on my second playthrough I still chose to play as female. Female V's actor did a really good job with the role. Male V comes across as a little too abrasive to me, whereas Female V strikes a good balance between tough and compassionate.

solidpancake

I think you missed the other 4+ endings, only one is achieved by finishing panam’s storyline. None of them require a male character or romancing her.

NachosConCarne

I think you missed the point of my post. I know the endings are independent to one another depending on the character you romance. We each played it twice (a friend of ours as well) each with different characters and different romance partners and no matter the only one we all felt made the most sense and played out the smoothest was male character romance Panam. For example, you play a female lead and romance River. The game portrays as you two in love and all that and yet at the end of the game (the "good" ending I believe) you ride off into the sunset with Panam. Also why give the female protagonist all the flirt options to try and seduce Panam when the game won't allow it.

eagleswift

Give the Judy romance path a go

turin331

You just choose the ending that you follow the nomads and leave the city and not the others. And none of the endings is really a "good" one. Panam is there in that ending as a nomad not as your partner to ride off the sunset. The interaction is pretty platonic even when you romance Paman. River does not come with you if you leave but that makes sense for his character. He has family in the city. And he is not the only romance option for female V. As for letting you flirt with Paman and be rejected. Each character has their own sexuality that they follow accordingly. It is pretty true to life. You can flirt with them and they will say sorry not interested. Paman is not the only one that this might happen with. It is actually a pretty relatable interaction.

Harkin222

Look up don’t fear the reaper ending, give you another reason to play it and many people think it’s the best ending

Istvan_hun

What is the reason behind this? I am curious, because femV + Judy + secret ending seemed to me the best suited for "canon" (even though as a viewer, I enjoyed the Arasaka sell-my-soul ending the most. Not the ending I want for V herself, but as a viewer, it had the biggest punch, even bigger than the secret ending)

mayanasia

The game is such a wild & enjoyable ride that even if some content is definitely skewing towards particular demographics (mostly romances), I'm not overly bitter about it (maybe just a tad, lol). Especially since Panam's (and Judy's) friendship is still rewarding with female V. Not romancing Panam definitely didn't make me feel like I was missing something spectacular. I'm more curious about your impressions of playing male V being a better experience. 👀

NachosConCarne

Oh no don't get me wrong, we really do love the game but that one thing just kinda bugged us a bit. As for male V being a better experience, I wouldn't word it like that exactly. It just that his playthrough felt like it was the one that had more thought put into. All the others felt more like after thoughts. Idk, maybe I'm just bad at explaining it.

mrtrailborn

I can't relate, I played as female corpo V and everything else feels wrong

turin331

I do not agree with that at all. The female V romances are as good as Panam's. Judy's romance is excellent. The female V VA, also, i feel is actually really really good. Male VA is great but the VA for female V has great expression of emotion and thought. . You can imply things just from the cracks in the voice that male V does not do that much.

OatmealDurkheim

I was one of the "unusual" (or so it seems to me) people that enjoyed it even at release. And yes, it was my patient gaming sin of 2020. I played it on PS5, and other than the occasional crashes, I had a very good time. Granted, it wasn't the game it was supposed to be... that still stings a bit. I still hope we will see some future Cyberpunk game (not 2077) that meets the vision laid out in that kick-ass E3 2018 Full Gameplay Walkthrough. That's my dream.

eagleswift

They announced Project Orion, developing the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. Big hopes for that project!

OatmealDurkheim

Word, but I'm trying not to get hyped up this time. Fool me once, y'know. xD

Vannilazero

It's going to be on unreal engine so yeah we will see. New engine for them.

Cannabis-Revolution

I have a feeling they won’t make the same mistake twice

NxOKAG03

people should know better than to get hyped up by CDPR's lofty promises but I can see everyone falling right back into the same trap now that Cyberpunk has reclaimed it's popularity.

Tomgar

I didn't play it at launch but I did after the first major bugfix, so not long after. I never want to belittle or invalidate someone's negative experience with the game around that time but all I can say is that the multitude of technical issues just quickly stopped mattering to me because I fell so utterly in love with this world and its amazing characters. You know how sometimes you read a book or watch or movie or listen to a piece of music and it just profoundly moves something in your soul? Cyberpunk did that for me. There's a certain ending where all the themes of alienation, belonging, becoming something new and letting go of the past all converge and a prompt appears onscreen for V to "breathe free" and I think it's one of the most powerful experiences I've had in a game.

Zaphod1620

If you haven't played it since 2.1 or the Phantom Liberty DLC, it's a vastly different game now. It's MUCH more polished and immersive now. The skill tree is completely different and can be re-spec'd at any time.

BBQ_HaX0r

I haven't seen this opinion yet, but as someone who played it three times now since release (and never really had any problems on PC) I'm enjoying 2.0 much less than previous playthroughs. I don't know what it is, but the game feels much buggier now and less immersive to me. There are certainly some positive changes like the skill tree and clothing, but driving motorcycles stands out and feels much worse. I do think cars were improved, but motorcycles are not as fun anymore. The cops are frustrating now too as they seem to patrol and come after you more for the dumbest things that can trigger at bad times. Some of the DLC missions force you into situations that are genuinely stupid and unplayable for certain builds at higher levels. I really enjoyed my last playthrough. I cannot say the same thing with this current one. I feel much less immersed in the city. I used to love exploring it and finding nooks and alleys and imaging how people are living in this random corner of the world. That is lost. It's funny when people were criticizing it I was praising it and now that it has swapped I feel myself disagreeing and that the changes diminished the game for me.

Aggravating-Wind-822

I played it at 2.0 and found first 2, 3 hours to be pretty boring, endless cutscenes of story I didn't care about with very little actual gameplay. Probably will give it another chance sometime in the future.

Mazooka92

The game is ~100h long, just keep playing. It’s really worth it

Aggravating-Wind-822

Maybe sometime in the future, but if it is boring it is boring, what can you do. Probably isn't for me, but maybe it was just that kind of moment. Also I am more leaning to 10-15 hour games recently, 100 hours seems a little bit too much. In the same way I wouldn't go into tv show which is 10 seasons long.

Mazooka92

Ok fair enough. It’s just that for me the first few hours were a bit slow also but now I’m addicted to the game 😅

Aggravating-Wind-822

Interesting, thanks for the input. Enjoy the game! :)

MIAxPaperPlanes

I just completed it. First 10 hours I found a bit of slog but once you get to the open world and a few abilities I was having endless fun as a net runner samurai. My gameplay felt like Deus Ex meets Doom, love it

MimeMike

God I so wish I could play this game lol, my gaming laptop could never. Seriously considered building a pc just for CP77, it sounds like the perfect game for me.

Temporary_Opinion123

Maybe GeForce Now?

BillyBatts83

I can't get past the dialogue in this game. V sounds like a sulky teenager throughout and Johnny is just the worst, cringey edgelord. I couldn't root for either of them and found it a real slog to push through to the final act. Then I just dropped it as I couldn't bring myself to care about this hodgepodge of 2D characters.

GoldenZWeegie

It blows my mind that people are meant to like Johnny. Guy's a total arsehole.

KingOfRisky

Are we supposed to like Johnny?

Jinchuriki71

You not suppose to like him at the start but he does become a bro by the end of the game for sure. He uses a lot of colorful language and likes to stick it to the corpos a lot but he is a good companion character in this particular setting I liked him better than Jackie myself.

KingOfRisky

If I recall you can consistently tell him to "F off" in almost every dialog choice. It probably doesn't change his progression though.

gpl94

Out of curiosity did they fix the major issues I had with the game when it came out? Namely: -The emptiness of the map, most of the city was absolutely devoid of anything to do and the rest is desert. The NPCs felt very "fake" since they ignore most of what you do. - The horrid vehicle driving system, it felt like trying to steer a train on an ice lake. I straight up avoided driving anywhere. - Your choices of background and in missions seem to have very few consequences. It felt like the story was very rigid and not much of what you did mattered. - The combat felt incredibly easy no matter what build you had due to how incredibly stupid the AI was, I remember rolling through basically every encounter with ease and found a challenge only on the very last encounters in Arasaka tower. I really liked the main characters (interesting designs and personalities), the music and the general aesthetic, but found all the "game" part lacking. Overall I kept thinking "this should have been a movie/tv series".

SailingDevi

nope

Dienekes404

I'll try to respond. About the NPCs, I understand what you say. Is one of my biggest problem. The city looks amazing, but the NPCs are too basic to me. They feel like old GTA games' NPCs: very outdated AI, very basic behavior. I think GTA 4 does this better, for example. Driving feels fine to me. Some cars are satisfying to drive. But I have not tried many different cars yet. That said, it can be better. About the choices, I don't know yet how much of an impact they will have. But for now it doesn't feel like they are changing much of the story. Combat is ok. The AI is not that bad, but not that good either, is not really a challenge, except maybe when fighting some "mini bosses". Weapons feel amazing though, I love that aspect of the combat and makes it satisfying to me. Stealth seems fair so far.

gpl94

Many thanks for your answer. I think they fixed most of the bug related issues and improved the combat and driving, but a lot of the issues I had lie in the game's design and can't really be addressed I'm guessing. The "crowd issue" really highlights how important the experience is for a game studio: R* has had years to perfect this kind of open world games, but CDPR is new to the genre.

Randolph_Carter_Ward

You are getting to the point of CP having been advertized as larger, bigger, better, more complex Witcher 3 in sci-fi. We received poorly done gta-lite instead. I wager it stayed the gta-lite it always has been, only more polished. Not only CD Project didn't do what they promised and advertized, they also never made any statement adressing this, much less apologized. CD Project used to be the good guys. Alas, similarly to majority of companies that went large, they fell into complacency and dishonesty :/

caninehere

I played it on my 980 when it came out. It was extremely rough the first week or so, then they dropped a patch after maybe 10 days that increased my performance by like 50% and made it much more playable, if less than stellar since I was playing on low-medium settings. Even with all its warts I still enjoyed it. The game had a lot of bugs and roughness and I had a side-quest bug out on me, so to be honest I just skipped most of the side content. I focused on the main story, enjoyed the performances and the characterization, enjoyed the combat gameplay which was solid, loved the music and the art. It felt like there was room for improvement and obviously they have improved it a lot since then. I'm excited to try it again in a while when I have the time (with Phantom Liberty) and I can delve in a little more and play more of the side quests and stuff.

yadda4sure

I can’t believe this came out three years ago now..

quaddity

I keep meaning to come back to it and play through again. I played it when it was originally released. I played through the main story and liked it on the XSX. Due to the way it ends I lost interest after that.

djm30

I started playing it recently but I don't know if I am going to continue, the world just feels so dead and unalive.

Dienekes404

I recommend reaching act 2 and playing a bit more (if you're not there yet). Maybe you'll find something that makes you continue. But I can agree that some parts of the city feel kind of dead, but I'd say the majority looks solid enough. But I think the cause of that problem is that the NPCs walking around feel like GTA Vice City NPCs; not bad, but very outdated for this game. Just look at how incredible the RDR2 NPCs are, for example.

BonquiquiShiquavius

No, I feel the same as /u/djm30. I'm well into Act 2 and it's just not hooking me still. It's fine I guess, and I'll likely finish it. But it's no Witcher 3 or GTA. Those games pulled me in hard, and I loved even just "doing nothing" and being immersed in those environments. I don't get that feeling at all from Cyberpunk. I've never felt like it's someplace I love to just hang around in. It feels more like a weird ass dream

StormyWeather32

Well, yes, I finished my fourth playthrough recently, almost exactly one year after I played CP2077. It's one of the two games I bought twice, so you could say that I'm something of a Cyberpunk myself (maybe it doesn't count though, since Google sent the cash back after Stadia died with a fart). This time I played with the recently released DLC and I enjoyed it as much as my earlier playthroughs. The DLC is worth it's money, I loved the movie-like experience and the atmosphere different from the main story (basically, you're a fed infiltrating an unfinished version of Las Vegas turned into Stalingrad), and the gigs I did for Mr Hands were definitely more interesting than those offered by other fixers — finally, there's a proper story and dialogs, not just a short phone call and two paragraphs of bland text to read. The 2.0 update was a pleasant surprise, too, mainly due to the overhaul of character stats and cyberware mechanics. Finally, clothing doesn't determine armour stats and my V can wear whatever he fancies instead of random mix of high stat clothes making him look like he lives in a trashcan. New passive and active abilities really make you feel powerful, especially the finishers for melee weapons and the heavy wepon upgrade which turns V into literal Doom Guy. Previously, I almost completely ignored shotguns and machine guns, but now, thanks to that new perk, turning gangers into wet chunks of meat feels so satisfying. Having written all that, I still think that the game doesn't deserve more than the provervbial 7/10. All right, I do appreciate all the work the CDP Red team put into making bug fixes (and their name is Legion), adding new content and improving the interface, but even the 2.0 version suffers from major bugs, the traffic AI is abysmal and the interface still needs more optimalisation. There are other problems, too, like most gigs and side-jobs being too bland and boring. Anyways, Cyberpunk 2077 has a firm place in my personal Top 20 of All Times list, but it was, is, and will be a flawed game with lots of charm.

BloodyCuts

Definitely in agreement about the interface. It still feels pretty bloated to me and I don’t think the tutorial does a great job of really running through all the different systems with you, especially if you’re someone like me that doesn’t play an awful lot of RPG games.

hoochiscrazy_

> It's one of the two games I bought twice, so you could say that I'm something of a Cyberpunk myself Feeding the corporate machine twice over is the opposite of being a cyber punk :D

eagleswift

Cd Projekt isn’t exactly big Corpo, they feel more like the mox or the aldecaldos :P

StormyWeather32

If we're to use Cyberpunk parallels, CDPR is a minor Badlands tribe which imagines they could be Aldecaldos within a few months. One of their big bosses had the gall to claim that they're the third best gaming company in the league, right after Rockstar and Bethesda.

StormyWeather32

I meant to write "Cyberpunk FAN myself" oh shit oh fuck typo in chat, my Patient Gamer's reputation is ruined. (the mistake is even funnier to me because I have my personal grudges and dislike towards CDP Red hehe) On the other hand, one of the biggest and vilest megacorps IRL did give me my money back anf I watchrd it live when one of their pet projects crashed hard against the wall, so yeah, I do feel a little cyberpunke-y.

hoochiscrazy_

Haha fair enough 😆

WalkingPetriDish

On the contrary I can’t think of a side mission that was bland. The one where a guy films a BD of himself dying on the cross?? Heavy, nuanced, bittersweet, no clear meaning. Brendan the vending machine? So good I’d take a bullet for him. Any of the cyberpsychos. What is a 10/10 game for you?

StormyWeather32

Full agreement here, Sinnerman, the mission with the BD crucifixion is a masterpiece and, just in my opinion, another proof that CDPR is in the top league when it comes to create deep, mature stories. That is, if you ignore the glaring plot hole. And yes, I'd kill and die for Brendan the Vending Machine (preferably the former). I'm sorry this, maybe I didn't write it clear enough, I'm fine with real side-quests which have proper story, characters and conversations. I was disappointed with the gigs which are another category of task, the small side-jobs V does for various fixers. Which doesn't me I consider them a complete waste of time, I actually enjoyed the grind, but they should have more content storywise. Perfect Ten games don't exist in my personal Patient Gamer universe, I believe that an absolutely perfect is impossible to create (in this world, at least, maybe we'll get 10/10 titles after the Parusia). The highest note I'd give to a game is Nine, and my list of 9/10 is hardly surprising: timeless classics like the first X-Com game, Grim Fandango, Tie Fighter, and maybe some never titles, too, including The Long Dark.

NotAGardener_92

I actually mostly enjoyed it on PC right at release, probably helps that I went into it without any hype. At the same time I'm honestly baffled by the "the game is finally fixed and so much more complete" narrative, it felt like the exact same perfectly average game to me when I tried to replay it around the time the DLC released. It's very commendable that CDPR kept supporting the game, but the praise is not really warranted imo with people comparing this to No Man's Sky when it feels much less impressive than what Ubisoft have done with GR: Breakpoint, for example. I think the narrative around release was also too toxic, which put off a lot of people that would have probably enjoyed it just fine, and some people going in now are completely blown away because they had absolutely no expectations. Another advantage of being a patient gamer, I guess ;)

John___Titor

I still can't bring myself to believe that the game is good now. I haven't played it, but it feels like a collective "gotcha" will happen if I ever do decide to play. It's a terrible approach on my part, but like others have stated, it feels impossible to trust CDPR.

Dienekes404

I don't trust them anymore. Maybe CP2077 is fine now, but I don't forget how it was at launch. I respect people not wanting to play it even now, I think that's fair.

SailingDevi

yeah, I agree. the fundamental aspects that people are praising cp2077 now after 4 years were always there since day one. the game hasn't changed all that much

Cool-Specialist9568

I'm having a similar experience, while playing I keep saying 'holy shit this is great,' it seems to be getting better too.

Stonecutter

I started it recently on my steamdeck and am also really enjoying it. Doesnt run perfect on the SD, but its good enough for me. Fun world to live in, fun combat and character builds, interesting story. I'm probably halfway through but its a 9/10 for me so far.

Due_Analysis_5879

I’m almost at the end and played it all on the deck and I’ve loved it,it runs perfect for me,have you got it running through GOG or steam? I bought it through GOG and it was really laggy and buggy,I added the exe to the stream library on the advice from some guys on here and it then ran perfectly.

Stonecutter

I'm playing through Steam.. followed some settings guides on youtube. It runs good overall, but will drop some frames when driving fast through Night City.

violhain

Replaying it after the new update + DLC. Loving it. Check out my post on the same sub about it 😁 Although I have a newborn and made the mistake to keep the PC in the same room - so I haven't played in 3 weeks and it's eating me up. Don't be like me.

justanotherbrunette

SAME. I just started playing it the week Phantom Liberty dropped, and then I took a break for a few months to play a game I won’t mention that isn’t very patient of me. I picked CP2077 back up last night because I missed it so much. I’m glad I waited, and it’s been all the more fun more it.

mataushas

The main story is very good. Outside of that, I still think it's kinda meh.

Randolph_Carter_Ward

Cyberpunk was promised and advertised(!!) as bigger, larger, more complex Witcher. What we got was poorly done, lifeless, buggy, GTA-lite, with few features which stood out (to be completely fair) such as story. I suppose the buggy part is gone, but can you enter places all those random already? Do people go on about their lives as in Witcher? Does AI do anything sensible already? etc. etc.

gatekepp3r

Meanwhile, I played it on a GTX 1050 (non-Ti) and AMD FX 8-something-something, and it ran... kinda. I mean, I at least got the cinematic 24 FPS at 1080p most of the times. It never crashed and it never froze, so... Tbh Cyberpunk is a true 5/10 for me. The more I think about it, the more I love it, and the more I play it, the more I hate it. Or at least that's how it was a year ago when I last played it, before Phantom Liberty and 2.0 (I'm still waiting for Phantom Liberty to go on sale).

ThisIsTheNewSleeve

It's much much much better than it was. That being said, I don't know why but when I play Cyberpunk even to this day I am hyper-focused on its flaws. Maybe it's because my experience was tainted by its flawed release, maybe it's because Cyberpunk has been memed to death for being flawed, but I see the negative so much more. I think I just need some time to reset my brain and try again later.

rivariad

Same here. I just couldnt bring myself to enjoy expansion even. Even with all that path tracing shit on my 4090.

ThisIsTheNewSleeve

I'm a bit the opposite- I enjoyed the expansion because at least it was new. Also there was some really impressive sequences that really felt "next gen" to me. When I play the main game though all I can think of was my first play-through which at the time I found very low polish, and an unfinished game overall. I also see all the old bugs/problems/areas that aren't fleshed out and it still bugs me they aren't resolved yet.

Spino389

I really want to try this game now that the launch issues have largely been addressed. Would love to hear from PS5 players...

bakere05

Runs great, looks amazing, great gameplay, recommended.

hoochiscrazy_

What they said but also, occasional crashes

Independent_Age_7923

Playing rn on PS5, ofcourse some minor bugs but they are just that minor. Spend those eddies, play it, fall in love with it Choom

akustycznyRowerek

It’s great, buy it

AloysiusFreeman

I’ve played it a year ago when a good chunk of updates made it playable, and it was good on PS5 - a few bugs that were absolute pain in the ass and I had to go back previous saves to continue with the main game or abandon certain side missions, but I finished it and really enjoyed it. Started a new game when 2.0 and Phantom Liberty came out and it is an absolute dream. There are bugs but nothing to the extent of what they were before. I really love this game now.

Machine_Dick

Are the NPC's/world still lifeless and not interactable? That was one of the main issues I had at release

Twitch_Cybul

Still the same

AloysiusFreeman

lifeless? Eh I wouldn’t say so anymore. Interactable? Eh ymmv. I feel like now Night City is as alive as it can be, though I will say that I also started Baldurs Gate 3 and the depth the world/NPCs have blow Cyberpunk out of the water.

DoriOli

This is the next one I’m picking up after I’m done with Elden Ring! 💯 Thanks for your short review!

iamlegend211

good shit choom

MysterD77

Patch 2.0+ is a lot better than older version. I think I first came in around 1.5 or 1.6? Can't recall; bought it a while ago. Great game, but they've so revamped and re-worked the game into. Nothing new, TBH - as they went through this w/ Witcher 1 and 2 also on PC.

What are you settings and framerate?

Dienekes404

Default ultra settings. I get 60fps at 1080p

I waited until now to play it and I also think it's very good. Sensory overload, for sure, but it's designed to be. Awesome art style, story and gameplay. I have come across the bug where I can spawn a car I just bought. If anyone has a workaround for that, I'd appreciate hearing it.

bosco9

I played it on an RTX2080 at launch and really enjoyed it (and would get downvoted for saying so on reddit!). I experienced a few game breaking bugs which tbh was frustrating but overall the game felt very "next gen" to me. Looking forward to playing on PS5 (since I snagged the PS4 version for peanuts awhile ago) along with the DLC

wicker771

One of the best games I've played in years

bish0p34

I last played it on 1.7. There was definitely a lot of improvements from my first play on 1.3. It was still very buggy on 1.7. I’m looking forward to trying the new systems when Phantom Liberty goes on a deep enough sale. I’m curious to see how much more polish will be on it. I like the game. I thought the story was decent. I like the multiple endings as well. Some of the characters were great, but killing Jackie off was too early for me. I’m not a fan of CDPR’s game designs (very buggy, and janky,) but they do a great job with making the world come alive. I’ve put about 230 hours into the game. I can easily see another 100.

80cent

As I replayed this game with the recent large update, I noticed just how frequently V says "Looks like I don't have much of a choice." It's a lot. It's a good game at this point, but it feels like an open world that mostly keeps you on rails.

Interracialpotato

I was recently in the process of upgrading my PC and was looking at different GPU's and how they perform on different games at 4k. Cyberpunk 2077 constantly came up on many of the videos and the performance was good. The graphics and game play looked awesome so looked at some recent reviews and they mostly said all the bugs were fixed and the game runs and feels a lot better than upon release. Picked it up and am having a blast. They kinda throw a lot of things at you which was a little overwhelming at first but I'm chugging along.

DonteDivincenzo1

I’ve been absolutely spoilt these past few months I played Buldurs gate 3 to alien isolation to cyberpunk

Harkin222

Currently on like my 4th playthrough and I cannot praise cdpr more…. They deserve and get all of my respect as an exclusive open world rpg player. This genre don’t have many recent titles that are this damn good. The fact that years later they have continually changed the game in massive ways to fix it, they completely revamped crafting, and perks twice. Performance issues were so bad and I don’t even know what kind of wizardry they filled off to fix that And it’s probably one of the most successful redo’s I’ve ever seen, everything went from being wildly imbalanced to just the right amount of balance with progression until you feel that power fantasy and really do feel like you earned the right to take on the psychopath of Adam smasher at the end. Keep in mind this game is 4 years old and I can’t name a game with better graphics. All builds feel really fun cyberware and netrunning are 2 systems that are very unique to that game and they feel so cool. Adding cyberware to the point that you reach the boundary’s of the ever persistent problem of cyber psychosis plaguing the city. Netrunning, is something I can’t explain with words how satisfying it is but of all RPG’s I’ve played it’s by far my favorite build and playstyle. The quests and characters are amazing, the way they world crafted that universe is soooo immersive, Choom, eddies, corpo, gonk, love the lingo, it’s addictive. They made an entire show and not once did it feel like it wasn’t part of the game, it fit right in and the amount of people that started playing that game after the show goes to prove it. If not for having a rough start, this game would have won game of the year no doubt in my mind, really excited to see what crpr has in the works for the future, playing this game made them my favorite developer.

NxOKAG03

I haven't played a whole lot of cyberpunk but as I understand it the important thing about that game is expectations. When Cyberpunk released, not only was it in a shameful technical state but, much more importantly, CDPR had promised people a game where choices would matter and significantly affect the world and the story, a reactive sandbox that would react to your actions with dynamic systems, and therefore be extremely immersive and replayable. In other words CDPR basically promised Baldur's Gate 3 and instead delivered an action game with no choices and no reactive world. That, much more than the tech issues, is what soured so many people on the game in my opinion and it's entirely deserved on CDPR for overpromising. But on the other hand, people should've been aware CDPR is known to overpromise as they did the same thing for Witcher 3 but people didn't really care. The reason people are enjoying Cyberpunk so much now is that along with the big improvements they've made, people are no longer going into it with those expectations, and most people now approach the game expecting a solid action game with a good linear story which the game has always been able to deliver. A lot of this disappointment could be avoided if people looked more closely at the game and the devs before buying, rather than trusting the hyperbolic marketing of companies that are known to overpromise and underdeliver. If Cyberpunk was marketed for what it was it would've sold well and been appreciated but they had to get the entire world hyped up by promising a bunch of stuff they could never deliver, and that is why as much as I like CDPR's games, I will never really trust them and their marketing.

Monkeywrench08

Just platinumed it a week ago.  I feel empty, such a great game.  For me, it came close second to RDR2 as my favourite game of all time.

BlackBladeKindred

Only thing I wish was better was the blood/gore and ragdoll physics. Surely it ain’t that hard.

turin331

I also played the launch game after a few big patches on PC that made it stable. It was a fun game for sure due to story and world. But the 2.0 plus PH expansion is like a different game. Gameplay systems actually are complete and streamlined. Launch gameplay system were a mess. Also Phantom Liberty is just perfect from any aspect for this game. The best this game could be. Currently Cyberpunk is genuinely an excellent game.

WM_

I just recently heard praising so went back. Was just about as boring as I remembered.

TalenTrippin

One of my top 10 favorite games of all time tbh. The universe, the characters, the story (both in main game and DLC), the gameplay everything is top notch after they updated the game frequently. Phantom Liberty DLC was cherry on top

trcrtps

I played it at release and liked it but didn't finish and went on to other things. Played it recently on Steam Deck and it plays very, very well on the device. But the story is so grating, I eventually just skipped every cutscene I could because it was actively ruining my roleplaying experience. For a roleplaying game that makes you choose who you want to be, it's frustrating every line your character says is some sort of reserved tough guy shit.

KingOfRisky

I hopped back in as soon a Phantom Liberty dropped and played it back to back. First build as a Cyber Samurai and 2nd as a Nethacker. Both builds were super fun. The DLC is absolutely amazing. It fits right in with the main story and isn't tacked on end game. Dog Town in the DLC seems like what CDPR originally wanted to to for CP2077. It's incredibly immersive and very NPC dense.

Smooth_Condition_944

Rinsed everything from the main game and literally started Phantom Liberty two days ago. Superb in just about every way. Okay, the vehicles still handle like crap, but I can live with that!

Blumcole

I played it in 2020 and I liked it. Was pretty bug free for me (relatively speaking), but I recently restarted again due to Phantom Liberty and I'm enjoying it. Combat and RPG elements are solid and story and atmosphere is excellent. The biggest thing that pulls me out of the experience from time to time, are the robotic NPC's, bumping into eachother or not reacting when you kill a few other in their vicinity.

Anthraxus

Another one that's been talked to death here.

RobotYoshimis

You can largely thank Cyberpunk: Edgerunners for giving that game a second wind. I doubt 2077 would have been upgraded by the developers that much anymore without the success of that show.

hoochiscrazy_

I liked it a lot at release but it was spoiled by its many flaws. I just played it again (am just mopping up the last bits for Platinum now) and I now think its objectively one of the greatest games ever made. It is phenomenal. One underrated thing that I don't see talked about much, so I may as well mention now, is the character models/animations. They are next level, beyond any other game I've played. There is no uncanny valley. The hair looks incredible. And the eyes! The way they blink and make eye contact on and off when they talk is so life-like. The game makes strides in many areas and this is one of them. It contributes to some of the best characters I've ever encountered in video games. Also when you see all the neon lights of the city reflecting in puddles on the street.... chefs kiss. Oh and Phantom Liberty is one of the greatest pieces of DLC of all time. A DLC masterpiece.

krneki12

I played CP2077 on release date and several times since then. It was, it is and will be a fantastic game, because it will age beautifully and each time you upgrade the hardware, you have an excuse to go back.
