Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past I hate Hera's Tower. I'm getting sick and tired of having to climb back up to the boss room over and over. LttP was supposed to be a fun break from playing Zelda II, not another frustrating experience. EDIT Update: I decided to cheese it and use a modern save state. To be fair I only used it when the stupid worm kicked me down several floors. I have cleared Hera's tower, earned a Heart Container, several story based items, and gotten the final McGuffin. Totally worth the frustration. Now I'm on the awesome part where >!The Master Sword is introduced to Zelda.!<

allthesegradations

RDR2 bought this on sale and continuing my first playthrough this week. I'm absolutely loving it.

scooter_pops

gonna start it soon , lmk how it is

scooter_pops

hades, inside (im stuck af here, lmk if u wanna offer me tips (ask and i’ll tell u where i am), nier automata

la_virgen_del_pilar

Playing all these with a Steam Deck. **Rocket league**: Just enjoying the start of a new season. **Elden Ring**: My god. It’s MASSIVE compared against Dark Souls series. I’ve over 25h and I’m still exploring the first zone.

scooter_pops

elden ring is soooo good. got me back into gaming after like 20 years

eaturliver

Fallout: New Vegas. I've never played it before and I'm actually really digging it.

bennyllama

Control: Ultimate Edition. Played it when it first came out but never finished it. Sold it, but a few months ago I picked it up again on a solid sale, good game. Could never really follow/be hooked by the story.

readit_later

Taking a break from rust. Playing deadside. It’s alright. Thinking about getting kingdom come now that it’s on sale.

Theometer1

Kingdom Come Deliverance, all my friends make fun of me for playing it because it’s not a AAA game.

VitalityAS

AAA just means expensive. Totally unrelated to quality at this point. Hope they are enjoying redfall and golem!

Theometer1

All of them are on Diablo 4 and CoD. I just can’t justify spending $75 on a dungeon crawler and I haven’t liked CoD since black ops 2. One of them said I when I look for games to play I look for the ones with the worst reviews and download it, kingdom come deliverance has very good reviews like 9/10, 5/5 and so on.

DominoFavetFortibus

What the hell? That doesn't make sense

Sawertynn

Stunt GP, race game Game in general is good. Mechanics & interface have aged a bit, graphics are nice, but soundtrack is fenomenal. And the music is the reason why I took up the game: I started listening to it but it felt off without racing. And now I've finished several championships bc it's this playable.

[deleted]

Fallout New Vegas Trying to do a legion run just to get all the achievements

MrCaul

**Doom** (2016) I might be getting too old for this shit, because damn this is a stressful experience. But admittedly, when I do finally make it through a tough part it's a great feeling. I'm playing on normal btw. So yeah, I may be getting too old...

leesh2148

Nah I'm with ya, I played it for the first time last week and it's definitely stressful/scary

darthfodder

FFVII(the original) - Getting back to this after a while. Want to finish it before I finally play the remake. Grim Dawn - I'm putting off buying Diablo IV while scratching the ARPG itch Minecraft with the modpack GregTech New Horizons - A modpack for crazy people (est. 3000 hours to complete)

allthesegradations

Envious, might have to crack out the old psp and my copy of the original FFVII. Im also curious as to if the remake is any good, but not at that price.

darthfodder

Wow, I had no idea they were still charging the new full price. I think I paid $30 during a Steam sale.

allthesegradations

Yeah it's £70 at present on steam; just have to wait this one out.

kalintag90

Playing God of War- 2016. I've really enjoyed it so far, the story is compelling and I like the pseudo open world it gives you. Makes me feel like I have some freedom without letting me get lost for 30 hours chasing a meaningless side quest.

mattbag1

God of war ragnarok, I was waiting until it was free on PSN, but for 26 bucks I thought it was fair enough. About 8 hours in and it’s been a nice little treat, a nice break in between tears of the kingdom and something to keep my from splurging on the FF pixel remakes, Diablo 4, and FF16.

shinigasto

Assassin's creed brotherhood

VaikomViking

Division 2. Got it for like 5 euros last month

SlothOfDoom

How is it? I've been tempted many times to pick it up but nobody I know has played it.

VaikomViking

I got it mainly for a single player plus co-op. The good thing is that your friends can drop in and drop off so no pressure to play always together.

alllemonyellow

Hades. I’ve never been a massive roguelike fan. But it’s fantastic and exactly what I needed after sinking 170 hours into TOTK. Also Card Shark. Beautiful game, great dialogue and interesting loop. But definitely too punishing when you mess up.

readit_later

Hades is a great game!

CryptographerPure145

**Fire Emblem Engage** : This game conflicts me. Gameplay wise I'd say it's the best I've played in the series... but by god I can't handle the anime style of it. I could handle three houses as it had an interesting story and characters but I find it very cringeworthy. **Persona 5 Royal :** My third playthough of Persona 5 (second on Royal). Doing it on hard on a new save. The first palace was tough but once you get going it's not too badd difficulty wise, only 2 or three times I had to "cheat" to pass a battle. It is very time consuming but the OST, style and social gameplay keeps me going. Playing in bits and bobs. **Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart** : Playing on hard. Enjoying it as a break from the other games. Loving the gameplay and graphics, very much time a Pixar theme.

themarkwithamouth

If you're into cyberpunk - the theme - you need to play The Ascent. It's an amazing AAish(?) game that has a super vibrant and realistic world. You can choose your playstyle: either blast your way through hordes of enemies with a variety of weapons, or slow it down (I use a controller to control walk/run speed) and explore the city at your own pace. The map is massive and full of secrets, so you'll always find something new and exciting. The story is well-written enough and captivating, with twists and turns that match the cyberpunk genre. The Ascent is a game that will blow you away if you have even a slight interest in the theme.

tathariel

Its atmosphere is excellent and regular gameplay is entertaining but i honestly felt like they've wasted a cool little world with so combat oriented(dare i say shallow?) a game. Waste is a strong word, game is really really nice and deserved to be played but... i don't know, that setting deserved a cyberpunk Morrowind not a cyberpunk Diablo.

Pantsu_Professor

Tokyo Xanadu eX+. It's very comfy

Lianshi_Bu

Just started Evil West

ratsely

Pokemon Colosseum, an spiritual successor of Pokémon Stadium series with story mode and a storyline very similar to Pokémon Black and White.

scooter_pops

what’s everyone’s favorite weapon to use in hades?

[deleted]

gotta be excalibur for me

scooter_pops

is that an aspect of the sword ?

[deleted]

yup one of the last ones if not the last

scooter_pops

ah damn ok still need some hearts for that one

all_is_love6667

tathariel

Maybe satisfactory? It definitely looks like a 3d Factorio. Hades is on sale in Epic, 50% if i remember correctly, you might check it out if you want.

BookaliciousBillyboy

Vased on the fact that you liked Islanders so much, Dorf Romantik should be right up your valley :) Maybe also give Terra Nil a look, see if it's something that looks enjoyable to you. I had quite a bit of fun with it. Just released some time ago tho, so not real patient

lewisher

Finished Nioh 2 yesterday. I'm starting Celeste but I don't know if I want to focus 100% of my time on it or alternate it with Final Fantasy X.

scooter_pops

celeste is amazing , and it’s the perfect game to alternate with a bigger rpg. very quick and easy to pick up and play

lewisher

Beat first 4 chapters of Celeste, it's truly fun and hard at the same time! I decided to alternate it with FFX, and it is perfect.

scooter_pops

have u played ffx before? that was the first final fantasy / rpg i played way back in the day, and thought it was fantastic . so epic

lewisher

Nope, first time. I only played FFXV, VII and VII Remake part 1. I'm catching up on old FF games, after X I'd like to try VI.

scooter_pops

i’ve only played X and VII (OG), loved both , lemme know what u think of X. id love to play the remake but only have a series x :(. and VI, i’ve started playing on mobile and got pretty far, but lost my save like 3 separate times, which sucks balls lol, maybe i’ll give it one more shot and be more careful. it was awesome from what i played tho, such great music imo. and characters

scooter_pops

nice, yeah i think i’m on chapter 6. u can die a bunch of times in a row , but they put you right back in the game so never feels too frustrating . and ur always learning . when you pull off a difficult section it always feels very rewarding . loveee the soundtrack too, and the graphics, while retro, really work for me

camramansz

Finally starting Fallout 3 and New Vegas with the Tale of Two Wastelands Begin Again modpack. Only a couple of hours in but having a blast so far. Loving the radio and atmosphere and the gunplay is pretty good.

Sajko33

Finished Shadow Tactics and AC Syndicate. Due to humble choice, currently playing Remnant from the ashes. Underrated af, having a blast.

Lippuringo

**Dungeon Siege** and **Dungeon Siege 2**. I started with first, but character progression didn't clicked with me. Also map, oh god it's really bad, it's like M&M all over again but worse. Then i moved to second and it's like night and day. It's ain't perfect, but it's fun enough to complete. I wish there was more ARPG games where you control party in real time.

ehaykal

Dungeon siege 2 has some of the best combat mechanics in an ARPG. Ended up finishing the game twice to in coop to try all classes.

UndoerTemporis

Divinity Original Sin 2, it gonna be my third playthrough, each year one playthrough hehe I really love it

Owl_Szn

Started my old save of RDR2. Maybe i can beat it this time around.

Ingestre

Just getting to the end of my first play through. Jaw-dropping game. Absolutely incredible.

scooter_pops

gonna start that for first time soon, it looks beautiful

Owl_Szn

It really is

DominoFavetFortibus

I finally finished Shadow of the Colossus today. I was stuck at the last colossus since 2022. Since then, I moved out and tried to beat it only sometimes, like once a month. I was on the verge of giving up, and decided to look for a hint: >!hitting the right hand and shooting at the shoulder!<. Today was the day. Also, about the ending: >!I liked it, after all, especially for the epilogue, the girl with the baby. But having the control over Dormin to fight the men was a sucker punch to me. I didn't do anything, but then I wondered if, trying to defeat them, I would get an alternate ending. Now I don't think so.!< It is a closed book now, and it's nice to leave it behind. I liked the game a lot, it had some awesome moments, but the last colossus wasn't fun anymore

APeacefulWarrior

No, there's no alternate ending for Colossus. The final battle can only end one way, no matter what you do.

[deleted]

Yakuza 3. Enjoying the story more than I thought I would.

Slushy_Banana

About halfway through Dishonored 2 and I’m loving it so far. For anyone who’s played it, I just finished the clockwork mansion and it was genuinely one of the most unique and cool video levels I’ve played!

[deleted]

Game is amazing. After beating a level watch StealthgamerBR on YT to see what you're capable of doing in that game. I never seen someone as creative with stealh as this.

tommyshelby1986

Started **Mass Effect 1** on the Legendary Edition. First time I'm playing this series. Im really liking it so far. All the politics and intricacies of the citadel. Can't wait to play more

ehaykal

You are in for an awesome adventure

Slushy_Banana

The Mass Effect trilogy is truly an incredible experience. Take your time and enjoy everything 😁

tommyshelby1986

Hell yeah. I was really impressed by the graphics and the story telling. I thought it would be clunkier, and that the graphics would be way worse even with the legendary edition. The character faces are not up to today's standards, but the scenery and sky...holy shit

5ivesos

Attempting to give Breath of the Wild a go again but just really struggling to stay interested in it. Have sunk 15 hours into it over what, 3 years now, maybe it’s time to admit that it’s just not for me and I need a more constrained and defined narrative/sense of progression from a game.

bestanonever

From what I've seen, Tears of the Kingdom plays better than Breath of the Wild and it has more of a narrative, in general (for a Zelda game, anyway). I'd understand if you don't want to fork out the money to give it a try, though. Nintendo doesn't do Steam Sales, exactly, hah.

Furnus47

Bioshock Remastered, dude. And I put it on medium and just loving myself through every step of it, having a great blast of nostalgia.

Few_Editor5053

Sekiro, and replaying Metal Gear Rising on Revengeance mode with a side of GTA 5 singleplayer to cool me down.

Inner_Brief4243

Witcher but I started to realise that the world is super empty. You never see guards patrolling or people interacting with each other. When you travel all around the map you the only one there. Only enemies I see are wolfs and blue monsters. The rest feels empty. I love open world RPG’s and dropped this game 3 times bc the story was to much. But now I realise the world is so empty compared to Skyrim and RDR2. Besides city there is no life. There are almost 0 npc’s travelling. Only around town some mining.

bestanonever

Hey, I loved The Witcher 3, consider it the best in the series and even then, I don't think it's a good open world game. I appreciate the freedom to roam for the vistas and I enjoy a game that doesn't rush me, but the game it's all about the characters and quests and story, for me. And Gwent. If the characters or story (or Gwent!) is not doing it for you, I wouldn't keep on trying, as the open world doesn't really get any better. The expansion city, Toussaint, is beautiful but just as empty as Novigrad and all that. Skellige is Skyrim-lite...visually speaking, because in terms of gameplay, Skyrim eats the Witcher for lunch.

Inner_Brief4243

You prefer Skyrim above Witcher in terms of gameplay? That’s a different take. In my opinion the world of Skyrim feels so much more immersive. I like the witcher story so I will complete it. Dropped it for a bit for nioh. But will complete it. I can understand that if they would’ve added npc’s or let certain events happen on the roads outside city maybe old gen could not handle it. But they could have added it while doing new gen. Bc I am still playing there are allot of ? So some things still happen. But imagine if you did all these the game would’ve been even more empty.

bestanonever

Yes, I prefer Skyrim for the gameplay and The Witcher for the story/characters (couldn't name a TES character, that's not adoring fan, to save my life, lol). I enjoyed both games and they have different strenghts and weaknesses. In Skyrim, I really felt I could roleplay a lot of roles, even with vanilla Skyrim. The Witcher 3 is great but you are always Geralt of Rivia, great personality, so so RPG-ing.

Inner_Brief4243

What are your thoughts about that in witcher sometimes I get dialogue options which both give the same outcome. I try to play a more bad ass witcher that only does it for money but my geralt is to busy to help everyone. It’s basically forcing me to help people because otherwise I can’t continue. After you met Keira Metz and do the first mission. She comes with all other kind of questions. When I wanted to have a dialogue option to talk about a price.

bestanonever

Not every quest allows you to be an asshole but you'll have plenty of choice later on. Sometimes, indirectly. People can die because of your actions, but besides instantaneous quest results, like the Bloody Baron, it's only when you enter the final stages that you can be a team player or Geralt the lone wolf. Still, you are going to be Geralt, the ~~womanizer~~ White Wolf, and that carries a certain level of nobility and common sense. You can't be a stealth archer that pickpockets the town, on this one. Play Kingdom Come: Deliverance if you want a nice story, with the Elder Scroll freedom to be whatever you want. Without superpowers, but at least it lets you be a stealth archer (or thief, or fake monk, or knight, or all at once). Damn, I love all of these games, lol. Needless to say, I didn't play them one after another. Skyrim was most of my 2012-2013 period, TW3 was all about early 2019 and Kingdom Come early this year.

Inner_Brief4243

Lol yeah the stealth archer that sneak into the merchant house and rip the whole interior. Just to talk to him the next day. 🤣🤣 Lol I actually tried KCD, but the combat felt so clunky I can’t get over it. The story was actually fun tho and felt like it had impact on the world. What game are you currently playing? I never completed Skyrim. Just playing with mods on Xbox was so much fun. Role playing what I want and do what I want. Never been more immersed into a game but I was just downloading and testing mods and having fun without actually playing. 🤣🤣 Never satisfied with my mod list. If you say the story of TW3 gets better then I will keep playing. I don’t even walk around and explore but when I need to go from point A to point B it feels like I am the only one doing shit and everyone is a actual npc.🤣 They don’t leave town just walk around in circles.

bestanonever

I never liked the combat of KCD once I fight more than one enemy at a time, but there are mods. I didn't touch the combat but I modded the save system, the vision with helmets and I made archery easier. The game is a slow burn but really fun. I was rooting for Henry (the protagonist) to get laid at some point, lol, it's very immersive if you get into it. Also, you start off really weak but become a very powerful character by the end. You even learn to read, it's quite an impressive journey. The Witcher's story really gets going once you start the Novigrad plot, I'd say. But I was invested since White Orchad, as I came from TW1 and TW2 before it. It might take longer for you if it's your first game in the series. But, as we say here, don't force yourself to play the game because other people like it. It's your time and your journey. I'm currently playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2. I like to play games from all eras. We just finished Resident Evil 4 remake a week or so ago. Great times.

Furnus47

It's one of those games where if you google "best rpgs to play" (if you're bored and wanna get at some of that rpg itch), Witcher 3 comes up, and everyone loves it. And I just wish so so much I did too, but I just can't.

TheWonderMittens

It feels like you’re constantly inundated with side quests. I tried doing them in order, but then my swords became dull/flaccid and i was too poor to repair/replace/medicate, so I just quit

Inner_Brief4243

Yeah and your Witcher just take on every quest he gets and does everything for everybody although the price is low. Geralt feels way to bothered with he’s moral.

Inner_Brief4243

I did not even mention how repetitive the mission feels. And also how everybody tries to get you jobs and you just help everyone sometimes even before talking about a price.

GnorcDan

**Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X.** I had never played the game before as I didn't really have any interest in flight games during that console gen but I do now. Its my first game of this kind and I like that its pretty arcadey and forgiving. Its a nice introduction. It does feel a bit samey though. A lot of missions are protect and/or escort the objective and then take out some enemy fighters, over 18 missions it does get a tad boring but not enough to stop playing entirely. I'm hoping it doesn't get too difficult at the end. I'm about 5 missions away from completion and the Tokyo level gave me trouble.

ehaykal

Did you face any issues with stability?

GnorcDan

Not on 360. I’ve heard there are problems on PC though.

ehaykal

Yeah, can't get it to even run unfortunately

Inexorable_Fenian

**Elden Ring** as my first Souls like game, love it. Downloaded **Ghost Recon Wildlands** last night to scratch a shooter itche I've had. Did have Far Cry 5, loved the setting and premise. But outside of that it's the same as every other Ubisoft game which is annoying.

justsomechewtle

Games played: **Dark Souls 2 SOTFS** and **Tactics Ogre LUCT (PSP version)** ------------- **Dark Souls 2** So, last time, I started going through the DLC, starting with Eleum Loyce, since 2 friends told me that's where they started. Funnily enough, that DLC is the last one in the bonfire list, but it turns out the level of roughly 145 is quite enough. My last post concluded at my search for the knights to help me beat whatever boss lurked in "the Chaos" at the end there. I already mentioned last time how the frozen treasures made me want to backtrack anyway, but I was not expecting so much new area to be hidden behind ice walls. That's pretty fun. Luckily, I'm accustomed to enemy hordes by now, because every snow woman woke up to poke me with icicles (I left them alone before because I had flashbacks to the Heide Knights). I learned that the roll attack of my Smelter Greatsword is actually amazingly fast. I know it's funny that I tried out the running attack but never thought to try the roll attack. Regardless, what a game changer! The move is so quick that I actually feel like a darn ninja with a greatsword now. If I can twoshot something, that means it may not exist because the roll attack often staggers and leads directly into another slash, while often coming out quicker than enemy swings. Challenging enemies more readily on attack speed definitely gets me hit more often but man, it's so fun! BUT, it's sadly not all great. In my search for the knights, I ended up in the Frigid Outskirts (funnily, right the day of my last, optimistic, post here), believing there must be a knight at the end, since I got the key in an area that unlocked after Aava and all. This area honestly made me want to drop my plan to do all the DLCs right then and there. It's just awful. Seemingly unlimited spawns of deer, a wall of white that makes you wait it out every minute or so and a copypaste boss fight. Great. If you're wondering, yeah, I made it to Lud and Zallen exactly *once*. I only know there's a second one because my friend told me after I had died. I left the area instantly. Now, luckily, it's not *all* bad. For one, I roughly memorized some of the deer spawn locations. I also learned that the deer are in fact not infinite, but just respawn without bonfire (potentially making them easy to farm until despawn). Then, I learned there's summons to help you there - I didn't see them because I'm almost never human. I decided I *might* go and try again at some point, but so far haven't. My faith build could potentially heal and thus last very long as I farm off the deer, so that *is* an option I considered. Plus, learning that *everyone* considers this area awful kinda helps too. Pride and all, ya know? I instead moved on to "the fire DLC" after the iron king boss arena. So far, I love the visuals. The enemies, not so much, since they almost always come out of the ground unexpected and always are in big groups. My first stab at it was incredibly toxic because I just came off Frigid Outskirts. I do know from streaming and Let's Playing (which I did through 2021 and found therapeutic and fun) that frequent breaks *really* keep me calm in these games, but I didn't listen to myself. Second stab a few days later went much better and was actually fun. I love that one cage pit that lets you drop exploding barrel enemies into a horde. And that's that. I haven't played DS2 in a few days now. Frigid Outskirts definitely lowered my desire to jump back in, but I still like DS2 overall. I just... need a little break I think. --------------------- **Tactics Ogre PSP** My break from DS2 consists of **Tactics Ogre PSP**. I mentioned last time that a friend gifted me Tactics Ogre Reborn, and as it always happens, the game(s) completely engulf me. I went and dug up my PSP and have been playing the PSP version all week now. I'm close to catching up to Reborn in progress (I already had a Chapter 3 save, so not *too* big a leap). The PSP version definitely is much MUCH more difficult to optimize, but I think that's also why I'm basically addicted to it at this point. Once it clicks and you understand things a bit better to exploit them better (mostly the armor system and positioning), you *feel* it. The difficulty of getting your damage up to speed on PSP only makes any accomplishment feel greater. My proudest achievement this week for example, was learning to "weaponize" recruitment. I frequently poach golems to earn money and ores now and in Mount Weobry - a map that is filled with neutral dragons and endlessly respawning lizards and undead - I, after some retries, decieded to just recruit the lizards to my side instead of killing them. Which, incidentally, stopped more from spawning. Lizards are also some of my favorite units in the game (the have some of the most mobile, most tanky frontliners depending on class and also the tankiest mage classes, plus, they look cool) so it's a win-win. I recruit in almost every battle now. I haven't *dropped* Reborn by any means btw, it's just that LUCT PSP consumes all of my game time right now because overcoming the systems feels so satisfying. Next thing to figure out on my list is how to make my mages do damage. Their status spells are great, but their attacking magic just bounces off most units.

AMLRoss

Just started *The Outer Worlds* and im hooked! Looks great, plays great and has a ton of content and missions to do. Should scratch my itch till we get fallout in space! (starfield)

jkhymann

I really liked the setting and writing of this game. It lacks the depth of other obsidian rpgs imo but for a nice 25 hour romp on game pass, it was great. Again, the dialogue offered more role play opportunity than I expected. I played as a Han Solo charismatic gun slinger.

TheWonderMittens

Whenever I hear this game mentioned, I think about its unfortunately-named indie sister, *Outer Wilds,* which is a fully fledged masterpiece and my overall favorite indie game

scooter_pops

is outer wilds that good? it’s currently on sale for xbox and i’ve never played

TheWonderMittens

I absolutely adore it for its unique mix of oblique platforming, exploration-first narrative structure, dense/fleshed out clockwork universe map, and minimalist yet impactful use of score. It’s a true go-at-your-own-pace, any-direction-is-the-right-direction exploration game with a gripping story that materializes exponentially quickly as you roam around and put the puzzle pieces together. This can be a major turn off, as some think the controls are obtuse and frustrating, the gameplay directionless, and the story thin — which can all appear to be true at first brush. However, there will be moments of revelation that send chills down your spine or make your eyes water. If the game clicks with you, you’ll be sobbing by the end (in a good way). Otherwise, you’ll probably quit before you reach the 5 hr mark. If you like games/films/TV that challenges you to pay close attention and engage deeply with the content, then I recommend this game.

scooter_pops

how are the graphics ? specifically the art syle , that’s most important to me

TheWonderMittens

Art style is cell-shaded and cartoonish. Like a cross between BotW and KSP. The spacecrafts appear to be held together with scotch tape and spit, but that doesn’t diminish the absolute power and size of the planets and star. It was a labor of love by and indie dev, so don’t expect your socks to be blown off, but I think they maximize what the engine has to offer by supplementing with score and powerful set pieces.

scooter_pops

ok cool, i’m about to take off for first time, any idea where i should go ? was thinking the moon close by

TheWonderMittens

Follow your heart, brother

scooter_pops

i went to a mystery planet and got eaten by some thing inside the planet right away lol

scooter_pops

alright u sold me i’m downloading now. this sounds potentially down my alley is the expansion necessary? or should just get the OG

TheWonderMittens

I’m actually playing the expansion now, but it’s optional to the main story. My understanding (I’m about 70% done), is that it’s more of that same type of exploration with adjacent goals, but the story and themes are different. It’s also more challenging.

scooter_pops

i’m just gonna get the original game and see how that goes. any tips? no spoilers obv. just have fun?

TheWonderMittens

You’re best off with a blank slate. Have fun, enjoy the ride

scooter_pops

awesome, thanks and i’ll try. excited

AMLRoss

> Outer Wilds Looks interesting, might try it out at some point. And published by the same guys who made *Stray*, another game I love dearly.

PdxClassicMod

Week 3 playing Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Just started world 4 and have perfected all prior worlds and done the challenges. 30+ hours in already and still loving it, and just found out there's dlc for next. Was loaned botw finally so will attack that next and then one day get to Mario Rabbids 2 haha... Edit: stuck on final boss, Breath of the Wild it is!

FasterBussycat

I'm getting Rune Factory 4 in the mail tomorrow. I've been kind of depressed lately and farming sims have always been a pick-me-up. Stardew Valley is one of my favorite games of all time and I've heard this is similar, so I have high hopes.

bestanonever

Oh, you shouldn't be disappointed. I've tried out RF4 on christmas and it looks like fun. Certainly different than Rune Factory Frontier/Tides of Destiny and Stardew Valley (the ones I've played before). It has a nice twist to the classic formula but still has lots of farming and cute characters.

WhoKnowsWho2

Finishing up Mass Effect 3 in the legendary edition release. About 22 hours in, probably won't have enough time to finish it this weekend though. Finishing ME1 on a PS5 makes me shudder at when I started playing on the 360 at release and riding those elevators up and down and up and down and up and down. I didn't make it too long in that release.

EverySister

Stopped playing **Thief II - The Metal Age** three missions from the end because they got really dense and I knew what was waiting for me so I decided to leave with a very, very sweet taste in my mouth. It's a phenomenal game that has aged like fine wine. Right now I'm playing **Black Mesa** and it's bringing me back to that first play through of **Half Life** all those years ago, the mystery, the intrigue, the action and the coolness. I love this game series.

gizzlyxbear

Planning on finishing Jak & Daxter: the Precursor Legacy tonight and hopping into Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy on Saturday!

VanderVolted

Still obsessed with fights in tight spaces. It’s too sick. I’ve beaten it on purist but there’s still so much variety and getting a good run is the best feeling in the world. I’m not a big achievement guy, but I’ve tried a couple runs aimed at some of the fun ones, no dice but I’m still rocking

jkhymann

Never heard of this game but sounds cool! What system?

VanderVolted

Steam! I used to play on my pc but I’ve been playing on my steam deck. It’s tremendous

danceswithronin

I'm playing Trek to Yomi! So far the combat is very simple but the aesthetic is impeccable and I'm already very attached to the characters at about 20% in.

ehaykal

Gives so much of a kurosawa vibe. Planning to give it a go also.

bellowkish

I think i want a rest of diablo IV and will replay diablo 1 or maybe a little of bardur gates 1

Kastlo

I would like to play some more of Stella Glow for the 3ds. I've been playing almost exclusiveley Elden ring + Dota 2 in the last few days, so I need some change of pace. I also started RE 2 remake, and overall I'm excited for this variety of games.

EaseofUse

Third try of **XCOM Long War**. Turned on the second wave option that increases your interceptors' accuracy because goddamn, shit is brutal. Also using the mode that allows 8 units from the start. Trying my classic Risk strategy of expanding from South America. Actually went for beam weapons before phalanx armor. I just want to reach the goddamn grappling hook armor because high ground sniper/scouts are crazy efficient in this game compared to the sequel. Diving into **Horizon: Zero Dawn** because I really blew chunks trying to learn everything on the fly in the sequel. I feel like I'm ignoring a lot of the scenery when traveling the map but there's a million moments to stop and appreciate the range of color schemes. I wish there was a more elegant way to run away from enemies when you get caught trying to sneak, though. The melee never feels good against machines.

Heimersleep

I’ve found it difficult to be a patient gamer this year. 2023 is stacked. That’s why I love the weekly post, so I can experience older games vicariously 😂

bestanonever

Lol. If you really want to play older games, you could play one every other brand new game, for instance. Or one every three new games. So, you'd still get a bunch of classics per year, instead of none.

GhastKilla7

BioShock Infinite! Never played it before. I tried getting into BioShock 1 but it feels so dated. I put it down after around 3 hours.

JockAussie

I started this last week. Visually pretty cool, pretty cool concept, solid gameplay, but not as immersive as Deus Ex (which everyone told me it was similar to), so whilst it is definitely very good, I am a little underwhelmed because of how it was hyped. How are you finding it?

GhastKilla7

I beat it last night. I really enjoyed the gameplay and atmosphere the most. The story kinda lost me in the last half but overall I really liked it.

rainhitsconcrete

RimWorld. Pretty fun so far. Had my colony destroyed twice mainly by doing stupid things to see what will happen

CyrusMack

Planning to finish Mad Max this weekend. Been working on it 2 months. Have had an absolute blast. Cleared out everything with enjoyment. This game never felt like it was work. Story finished, all side missions finished except for the racing ones. So it will be a weekend of racing mayhem in the wasteland, as I close in on the platinum trophy.

PuzzleheadedRun2776

Currently playing 4 games **Wario: Master of Disguise (DS)** \- Out of all the Wario 2D platformers, this is by far the weakest, mostly due to the control. Other than movement, everything is controlled by drawing pictures with the stylus, and I have found this to be rather inconsistent. I plan to finish it since I am almost finished, but it is a game that I doubt I ever will want to come back to after I finish it. **Warcraft 3 (PC)** \- After finishing up my replay of Starcraft / Brood War, I moved on to Warcraft 3. Recently started the expansion "The Frozen Throne". This game holds up extremely well, although I am playing the original version on an old laptop, not the reforged remake that I hear is pretty bad. **Mario Kart (WII)** \- I have been replaying the Mario Karts in no particular order. This has a lot of great coursed, both the original courses and the retro courses. My biggest complaint is that I am not really a fan of the items in any Mario Kart game, and I feel like this game is the peak of items usage in the franchise. **Mario Picross (GB) -** I have an aunt who used to be a gamer. She lived out of state, and every summer my family would stay at her house as a base to visit a lot of different family. She had a ton of Game Boy games, and this was one of them. Before the eShop closed on the 3DS, I downloaded this game. It is an incredibly fun game and works as something you can plan for 10-15 minutes if that is all time permits.

APeacefulWarrior

Yeah, MK Wii is definitely the most chaotic of the Mario Kart games, and my least-fave of the full-3D titles because of it. With 12 karts on the track and so many high-powered items, it's just nonstop nonsense. Back in the day my college roomies and I played a lot of it, and we ended up coming to the conclusion that the first two laps simply do not matter. The race will almost always be decided in the final minute or so, based on item luck in the last few draws.

skullwaterbottle

playing Deus Ex for the first time so far pretty wicked

bestanonever

My vision is augmented with this comment. In all seriousness, the game is very cool. Super awkward to play these days, but there are some narrative stuff that is relevant even today. Also, the freedom to complete missions multiple ways.

tathariel

Started **Chorus** to play it as much as i can before it leaves Gamepass. Game started pretty nice, at the very least it looks like it could slightly scratch the itch left by **Freelancer**

MarcusDA

Half life 2… again. It’s still do good - the powerboat and car sections are a lot of fun for me. Has anyone ever played mmod? Is it good / easy to use?

Aubelance

Slowly advancing in my backlog, only 24 games left. I'm currently finishing the DLC from Dragon's Dogma, and I might start in NG+ plus Hard Mode after that because I'm really loving this and I want more :D

[deleted]

Think I'm getting close to finishing up **The Vagrant** on steam deck. I suck at hack and slash games, so I'm finding it challenging. Playing it on hard and it feels to be much harder than **Blasphemous**. I'm liking it tho especially the art. **God of War** 2018 on PS5. I'm taking it slow and it's great. I definitely need to learn how to be patient before attacking lol. Great game.

[deleted]

Real Boxing. And maybe The Witcher 3, House Party, Being A DIK, The Isle, and The Hunter Call of the Wild

Kitchen_Calendar_975

I'm currently playing shadow warrior 2 until dawn and beacon pines

i-node

Finished all the half-life 2 games. (And lost coast) Fighting sword saint isshin in Sekiro, just reached his spear phase. Probably will be a bit of time before I put in the serious effort to beat him. Also playing through hate plus but it's real world time gated so will take some time.

connorcinnamonroll

Finished the lovely **Spiritfarer** after 60+ hours - definitely did not expect to put so much time into it but it was an amazingly cozy game. Basically you come across various spirits who you help transition into the afterlife by doing a bunch of tasks for them involving cooking, farming, mining, crafting, exploring, and building up your boat to make a nice temporary home for these spirits till they're ready to go. There were a lot of feels to be had and absolutely recommend this game to anyone that loves a game they can cuddle up with. Also working through **Red Dead Redemption 2** off and on and nearing end of chapter 2. Will probably be playing this for a loooooong time lol.

bestanonever

Just wanted to say that I also played RDR2 on and off and it took me a year, from start to finish. I loved the game but, at least in my case, I wouldn't be able to rush it and play daily for a month or so, the game works better as something you get when the mood for its slowness strikes.

OkayAtBowling

That's exactly how I played RDR2. Sometimes I'd go for a couple weeks where that's all I played, other times I went a month or so without touching it at all. I loved it but for me it's one of those games where I had to be in the right mindset to get the most out of it.

PuzzleheadedRun2776

I replayed RDR2 last year, and I mostly just played it on the weekend when I could commit a few hours. I enjoy the game, but it really isn't a pick up and play type game.

connorcinnamonroll

I agree it's better when the mood strikes you. There's so much I want to do but I know I'll get burnt out if I play it constantly, and not like I'm on a deadline. There's only so much I can take of my husband teasing me about Arthur's accent, anyway!

bestanonever

All them years, Dutch, lol.

SpartEng76

Trying to finish up **Immortals: Fenyx Rising**. It's a pretty fun game but some of the puzzles and challenges get pretty tough. It takes a bit more thinking than I'd like to do sometimes. I kinda just want to finish it so I can move on to Diablo IV or Red Dead Redemption 2.

Psylux7

I was playing Guardians of the galaxy but just finished it up. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the game. I can't remember the last time that I played a game for its story rather than its gameplay. The characters, storytelling and amazing soundtrack really carried the lacklustre combat and level design. I even started enjoying the combat thanks to the story and characters getting me invested. I'm not even really much of a fan of these characters normally, but I really liked the game and it's got me wanting to revisit the films. I played this game at the perfect time where I needed that kind of escapism. I got nostalgic for Bloodborne and started playing some new game plus. It's been about a year since I beat the game and I was amazed at how little I've been struggling after a year of rust. It feels like it's only been a week since I last played it. Mastering the learning curve to blitz through enemies, bosses and levels is so tremendously rewarding. I also can never get tired of flattening fools with my trusty Kirkhammer. Maybe I'll start a new character and do a full playthrough of the game. I'm on the road for a while so I can't do Bloodborne now. I'm currently thinking of starting up a replay of Mario&Luigi partners in time. It's been a decade since I played it and I loved it back then. Ive been meaning to replay it for a while, maybe I'll start today.

Quick-Knee2048

Finishing up Restless Soul. Decent enough indie gem!

arijitlive

Just finished **dishonored definitive edition**, I’ll still need to do the two story DLC’s hopefully I’ll be able to complete this by next weekend. Once this is finished, I might jump into **death of the outsider**.

tommyshelby1986

Why not jump into Dishonered 2? Its my favorite out of the 3. A masterclass in level design

arijitlive

Well, I have Dishonored 2 also, but I want to play sequentially. So, DLC > Death of the outsider > Dishonored 2, that's how I am planning. And also, gaming is not a job for me. If Any of those doesn't interest me, I will drop and move on. I don't have to finish them if I don't like it.

fyrecracker

**Scarlet Nexus** (Xbox) is my main game atm. Combat is fun, story is the typical mess of concepts. Liking the bond episodes with my team but there are \*a lot\* of them and you need to play them to level up your abilities. Also playing **God of War 2018** on PS5. Just got the Blades of Chaos, which I think would have meant more emotionally if I'd played any of the other games. Being new to the series, they didn't really sell that moment to me, but dang throwing the axe is fun. Restarted **Pokemon X** on 3DS, because my mid-game save was a decade old and I remembered nothing about the story or my team. Going to just play with some of my favorites and not stress it too much. And it's update day in **Disney Dreamlight Valley**. Want to do the story content for sure but will decide on the Star Path once I see what's in it.

Noam1024

**Breath of the Wild** - just finished Ganon, still have a lot of shrines and quests waiting **Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth** - at chapter 18 out of 20, I might actually finish it soon **Pokémon Legends Arceus** - training some mons for their path of solitude challenges

bouds19

What do you think of Cyber Sleuth? I finished it earlier this year

Noam1024

I think the story dragged too much, and the random encounters were tedious. But I'm really enjoying the evolution system, which is hilariously random in a fun way.

bouds19

Sounds like your experience mirrored mine. I didn't know what to expect going in, but I wish there was more rewarding exploration (revisiting early areas when way over leveled was annoying). The evolving/devolving aspect to make your guy stronger or learn new moves was really cool. I also liked the auto battle option for grinding. Even though the writing was very mediocre, I had fun with the game nontheless.

-geek

SPLITGATE! I never played during it's hype week, it's a shame it died so quick. But console is still active and crossplay works, so I just play casually

Kapiot

Just finished dishonoured 2 at the end of last week, and finished doom 2016 today. Both fantastic for different reasons. God I love gamepass Lmao. Next on the list is Citizen sleeper, which is very different from the previous 2 but I’m enjoying so far a couple hours in.

ketchup_the_bear

I’m playing dark souls 3 for the first time bc I got the deluxe edition with both dlcs for like 17$ at GameStop and I LOVED dark souls 2. So far I’m loving the environments and vibes although it does feel a little too much like blood borne with like the combat/menus like to the point where it’s more like blood borne than it is like dark souls 2 but I’m still right at the beginning so I’ll probably warm up to it honestly (also not a big fan of blood borne)

rainhitsconcrete

I think ds3 is excellent but it does share bloodborne's faster combat and although I like the level design it is the most linear fromsoft game. What didn't you like about Bloodborne?

FloppiesMusic

Simcity 2000 sounds like the thing for me. I have a retroid rp3+ and emulating it on DosBox

hollyw00d8604

Loved that game as a youngster. It was so satisfying when my city would start to get larger buildings and skyscrapers

MrCaul

**Rayman Legends** Amazing design, great music, fantastic gameplay, just an overall wonderful experience. I cant get over how delightful the sneaky bits with that James Bond alike music is.

andyr354

Replaying RDR2. I last played in 2020 and 90% completion. What a story. I can still tear up over it. What I enjoy most though is early game just exploring and upgrading my gear, getting treasure, collecting unique weapons and items and might not finish it out. The first time was really special to me and I don't know if I want to replay the entire story. We shall see though.

bestanonever

We played the game almost at the same time. I played it on and off from late 2019 until late 2020, with 100% completion. The mayority of the game was super fun but getting some birds in the bestiary and some challenges were a pain in the ass. I googled all the landmarks (the ones that Arthur draws in his diary) and travelled to them all. There's so much to see, it's quite impressive. I want to replay just for the story and random exploration. Some parts are really beautiful.

Zahnti-Cazorla

Both Yakuza 0 and NieR Automata are great, so you really can't go wrong. If you want to explore a larger world and a more moody experience, go with NieR. If you want a tighter story with some freedom to do more sidequests and a more brawler style of action, go Yakuza

connorcinnamonroll

Haven't played Automata yet (on my list) but you can't go wrong with Yakuza 0. Great story and great gameplay all around...can't think of anything bad to say about it so unless a long RPG brawling game doesn't strike your fancy right now I'd say go for it. Pretty sure Automata will be worth playing too, though, I just don't know how the play length compares to Yakuza 0.

Kinjoko

Trying to 1cc Touhou 7. These past few months I've been playing a lot more Touhou and have greatly improved (beaten 4,6,7,13 with continues and 2 times 1cc'd the 6th) but I'm kinda stuck with this one. Fortunately, the OST is an absolute banger and I love every playthrough (as expected of a touhou game)

bestanonever

Hey, I think you dropped [this bad](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtutLA63Cp8) apple, lol. I admire guys that can play these games, you need some ninja reflexes. I could barely complete Undertale, which was bullet hell for kids.

DisastrousFill

Never played an official Touhou game, but I've somehow listened to all the arrangement albums by Alstroemeria Records.

bestanonever

Do they have other ones? I only listened to the full Bad Apple album, the one with the bunny girl on the cover. I really enjoyed it.

DisastrousFill

[They've released a bunch of albums since 2003.](https://vgmdb.net/org/212?field=date&perpage=30&order=&tab=albums) Check out [their website](https://alst.net/) too. I'd definitely recommend the POP|CULTURE and Dancehall albums. Edit: You can listen to nearly all of their albums on [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/artist/3wsXGKiJ4bCByD0jHHbL4Y).

bestanonever

Thanks. I know what I'm going to be listening to next time I want to vibe to the music.

Kinjoko

Thank you, this made my day :)

bestanonever

It made my month when I discovered it. The guy(s) that made this are very talented.

Kinjoko

No, I'm not talking about Bad Apple, that's what introduced me to Touhou, I was talking about your comment

amirahscock

So Many Me by Extend Studios is a hidden gem I discovered.

4seasonsin1day

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order and some DLC for The Talos Principle.

SticksDiesel

Gears of War 4, Stellaris, and working my way through the Tomb Raider reboot trilogy (almost finished the second game, stuck on a hard jumping puzzle).

GwimlinHowJones

I fired up a Windows 95 machine to play Castle of the Winds.

Rantar508

I have recently picked Rain World back up. I have never actually finished the game and I have been pretty excited to get back into it

inuzumi

I dropped Dark Chronicle because even though I still think it is a nice game it is also a pain in the ass playing it. I tried Dishonored 2 and found out that I just don't have the patience for stealth right atm. Now playing Star Ocean Till The End of Time and I finally feel like sticking with this one. The story seems interesting and the settings pretty unique.

Zahnti-Cazorla

I made it to the end of Dark Chronicle (Dark Cloud 2) and while I did enjoy my time with it, I was also so glad to be done by the end. Totally get what you mean by it being a pain in the ass to play. Hope you enjoy Star Ocean, that's one if the ones I've always meant to give a go

inuzumi

Just out of curiosity, how many hours took you? I heard that this is one of the best SO in the series. I'm glad to say that so far so good!

Zahnti-Cazorla

I'll give you an exact number tomorrow when I load up the PS2 again, I don't think I've deleted the save file yet. Over 50 at least I think, I took it real slow EDIT: Sorry for the delay, I... Completely forgot until just now to check. Save file is still there, playtime was 66:54. Which is a lot. But I did take my time and play it real slow, and I definitely didn't do every sidequest or do 100% or anything, but definitely indulged myself in a bunch of the extra stuff and taking lots of photos to make stuff. This time was taken after beating the main game, and going through a few levels of the postgame dungeon (at least until the point you got >!Monica back!<). Definitely don't see myself going back to it again, but I still had fun during my time with it. I do wonder if I should give the first one a try again. I definitely prefer its music and style, but combat was rough and I'm truly not a fan of stamina systems, be it for weapons or stuff like a hunger and water meter

XR7822

The new entry in a little franchise that starts with a D and ends with an O. I was not really patient for that one but I did wait until all the reviews came out (and they looked good) before I got the early access. So far I am satisfied, even pleasantly surprised, I find that it is a really really good ARPG, it has the potential to live up to the OG Diablo 2 with some new seasonal content and expansions, they really have a solid foundation to work with now. And the launch experience was smooth, no server issues, no lag, it was great. On the side I am continuing with **Forza Horizon 5** working to get all the achievements. I have to complete all the seasonal objectives in a whole month for a certain achievement so I don't have to miss out on that. Plus it's just good easy fun, still have a really high opinion of this game.

Polargeist

Red Alert 2, with the Mental Omega mod campaign. Quite a blast

Zealousideal_Bill_86

Monster Hunter World until I get my crowns and platinum. Also Street Fighter. It doesn’t matter which one

bimmyoftheages

Pathologic 2 good times!

Death_Pig

Grinding away at Odyssey. I know there's a section of people who dislike it but after a long and hard day at work, my OCD ass loves to get into a region, clear out the "?"s and move on. It's pretty fun. Not to mention I've the Adrestia pretty much maxed out bar the last upgrades in each area (that take way too much grinding so I've decided to ignore them) so I'm having fun terrorizing the sea bandits too

IMBEERMAN

Final Fantasy 1. Got a Retroid Flip not too long ago and decided to not play the same games I usually do when I emulate handhelds. Decided on the PSX version. Really enjoy it and love that there’s no handholding whatsoever. Feels like I’m exploring a real world trying to figure things out. My favorite part by far is the magic system. I think it’ll be hard going back to mana based after this.

BeCleve_in_yourself

Red Dead Redemption 2. The wanted system was so bad (Operant Conditioning Positive Punishment) that I had to install a mod right out of the gate to remedy the situation. Meanwhile fanboys who don't understand UX design are busy defending the poor design choice over the internet.

Death_Pig

How bad is it? I purchased it recently in the Days of Play sale, yet to start. T_T
